Tanker Tuesdays coming to Justice. Tanker Tuesdays has been a long running event on Champion, earlier this year the Tanks of Champion branched out and began touring the other servers. The response from Justice was substantial enough for us to run several reloads and from that I'm proud to say we'll now be hosting our own Tanker Tuesday every 2nd Tuesday of the month. We'll meet in King's Row by IP Gate at 6pm PT/9pm ET. All levels and power sets are welcome as long as you're a Tank.
Our next one here on Justice will be October 13.
Other Tank worthy events this month:
Tanker Tuesday's 60 anniversary on Champion October 6th the fun starts with a Mother Ship Raid at 5pm PT/8pm ET with additional events following.

The Tanker Tuesday Tour rolls to Protector on October 20th. We'll meet in King's Row by IP Gate at 6pm PT/9pm ET.
Hope to see all you Tanks there! -
Another fun filled TTT (last minute as it was) and to top it off the 5th TT of the month! A first I think. Thanks all for participating in this historic event, and don't forget Champion next week for the big 60!
-
TT usually runs about 2hrs. So we'll still probably be running. Shoot us a tell on the TankHQ channel and if we're not in a TF or Trail, we'll try and get you on a team. I'm not sure which toon I'll be running tonight, mostly likely Shield Blitz, so you can try and send me a tell directly as well.

Okay, just got a chance to test, here's what I got just jumping around PI and in one AE with my Level 46.
Tested on Freaks, Nemesis, CoT and Malta
Levels 45+ stayed in place with both Fault and Tremor.
Levels 44- flew about when hit with Fault and Tremor.
I know this isn't an extensive study, but should work to provide the info you're after. -
Fault for sure, and Tremor (as I remember) do KD unless the goons are of a lower level. I think minions and maybe LTs fly if they're a couple levels lower, or a KB susceptible group (like clocks). I rarely fight anything under +2s so if there is a KB issue with Tremor I haven't seen it due to the level difference. I'll check it out and post what I get, but as I recall both pretty much keep the goons where you want them.
Seismic Smash is a single target big hit with a hold. -
Yes, tonight and 10/13/09.
Pep, it won't be the same without you, but we'll keep you in mind as we mow down the mobs. -
Maybe a bit off topic but as long as alternates to Fire/Ice are being offered...If you want to use Burn check out Fire/Stone Melee. Start Burn, hit Fault, then Tremor and watch the flames of justice send the goons to the zig. Depending on the situation you may want to mix the order up a bit, but basically it's all good once you get the goons bouncing.
-
Justice it is then. We'll meet at the usual time and place*. Don't forget Justice TT will take place on the 13th of October following the TT anniversary on the 6th.
I'm just hoping to take advantage of the 5 Tuesdays this month and make a historic 5 TT(Ts) in row! As always all Tanks are welcome, all levels, all power sets.
Hope to you all there!
*(King's Row by the IP Gate at 6pm PT/9pm ET) -
Hi all, I apologize for not being more active on the TTTs lately, but work has become a bit of a bear and is/was demanding lotsa' time. Hopefully that's behind me for a while and I can concentrate on important stuff like TTs again.
That being said and it only being one day away from the last Tuesday of the month...anyone up for a short notice impromptu TT tomorrow? I'm thinking we can Hit Justice again or maybe Freedom. Any thoughts? Anyone up for it?
-
I'll try to make it. Although I'm a little lost on the event start time. Just to make sure I got the right time. The mother ship raid will begin at 8pm ET so, 5pm PT, correct?
-
Sounds like great fun! I should be there.
-
Quote:As Sailboat has mentioned there is a certain amount of "Tankerness" that happens before we start rolling, you should be fine. One question: do these events tend to start exactly at the posted hour, or is that just 'when everyone starts showing up' and teams kick off a few minutes later? I ask because I have tutoring that ends at exactly 9. I can probably sneak out 5 minutes early, but I'm still likely to log on sometime around 9:05 or 9:10. I'm hoping that all of the teams haven't left by then.

Tonight's the night!! The Tanker Tuesday Tour Reloads to Guardian! Get your Tanks ready to roll and meet us in King's Row by IP Gate at 6pm PT/9PM ET we'll set teams and go for broke!
-
Only two days until the Tanker Tuesday Tour reloads to Guardian!! Get ready for more Tankery fun! Any level, any power set and all you have to do is be a Tank! What a deal! Show up in King's Row at the IP Gate at 6pm PT/9pm ET on Tuesday the 22nd and run missions, Task Forces and Trails with your fellow Tanks.
See you all there!! -
I was thinking about it, but then blew the $20.00 to support my altitis, man I sure hope "Going Rogue" comes soon (before I burn through these slots

Just off the top of my head...
Radiation Melee
Tier 1,
Gamma Hands, Single Target, uses EMs glowing pompoms of doom (but green!) and Barrage's animation, Slightly less damage, faster recharge, minor Defense Deduff.
Tier 2,
Particle Strike, Single Target, uses Scorch animation, typical tier 2 damage, Debuffs Resistance
Tier 3,
Irradiate, AoE, as Defender power, but lighter on the Defense Debuff.
Tier 4,
Taunt
Tier5,
Electric Haze, AoE cone, low damage, chance to stun.
Tier 6,
Neutron Bomb, AoE as Defender power, slightly more damage, less Defense Debuff and Range.
Tier 7,
Build Up
Tier 8,
Atomic Strike, Single Target, high damage single target, Defense and Resistance Debuff.
Tier 9,
Proton Blast, AoE similar to Thunder Strike, Tanker level damage, slight Defense and Resistance Debuff, no Knockback. -
Because of the mix now favoring minions I don't believe the "in mission" tickets have increased (I won't swear to this), but the end bonus has gone up by about 1/4 to a 1/3.

I recently started using Energy Torrent from Power Mastery to help keep mobs on their backsides, and much to my surprise it works very well. This would mesh well with BA's KD and Burn if you're using it. Power Master also offers Conserve Power and now Physical Perfection (I think that's what it's called...) which will gives you two more End management tools. Otherwise You'll have to invest in some IOs to help you out. (Numina's, Impervious Armor, Gift o' the Ancients, etc...).
-
I've been playing with the Difficulty Slider and have settled (for now) around the 6-8 Man Team size and between +1 to +2 (for starters).
Settings/Sets tested so far:
Shield/Fire/Pyre- 6 +2 (no problem will try +3 next)
Ice/Fire/Energy- 8 +2 (no problem will try +3 next)
Fire/SS/Pyre - 8 +2 (no real problem, I have to watch her health (no Def))
Invuln/Fire (lvl 37)8 +1 (End issues still...so until I sort that out...)
Fire/Ice/Energy 6 +2 (seems okay, I'll probably increase to 8)
I must say I do like the new difficulty slide a lot!Well done Devs!!

Quote:Leek, IMHO you might try something other than DA/DB you've chosen two sets that can be very Endurance Intensive. If you're shooting for a theme that's fine (although now I16 does allow Power Set Customization, so almost any set could be "Dark"). But, DA burns a lot of endurance as does the speed of DB. Until you can get some levels/slotting under your belt you'll probably feel pretty Endurance Challenged. From what I've experience DA also needs quite a bit of IO set slotting to get it some Defense/survivability otherwise it really is gambling on it's Heal and Resistance to keep it alive.
I've tried Inv/SS, Fire/SS, Fire/Fire, WP/BS, and now I'm trying DA/DB. I've run into the same problem with all of them- low damage + low defense + "you're a tanker n00b go and tank" = permadeath, lack of fun.
Is there some trick I'm missing, some little detail that makes tanking fun? I know if I ever manage to get a tanker to 40+ it'll be good, but how can I get there? Thanks.
If you want some combos that pump out damage try:
Shield/Fire
Shield/Dark (from what I've seen/heard, still leveling one myself)
Ice/Fire
Fire/Fire
Fire/SS
For Good to Extreme Defense/Survivability try:
Stone/Ice
Invuln/Ice
Invuln/SM
Shield/Ice
Shield/SM
Ice/Ice
For a good Blend:
Invuln/SS
Invuln/Fire
Invuln/Dark (?, still working on mine)
Invuln/SM (Depending on the build)
Invuln/Axe
Invuln/Mace
Ice/Axe
Ice/Mace
I don't have much experience with Will Power but I believe it would pretty much follow the Invuln pattern, just be a bit easier to play coming out of the gate as it gets Quick Recovery (a superior Stamina) at level 12. -
Just a reminder. The Tanks are coming back to Guardian this coming Tuesday! That's right the Tanker Tuesday Tour plows back to Guardian on the 22nd, so grab a Tank or roll a new one and join the fun. We'll meet at IP Gate in King's Row at 6pm PT/9pm ET, set team, establish TF's and bust goons as only Tankers can. All Tanks are welcome any Power Set, any Level, just as long as you're a Tank!
See ya' there! -
I was looking at a a Fire/Elect or an Elect/Fire (as I tend to enjoy Fire Tanking and Fire Melee), but I had also pondered building an Elect/Elect. As fate would have it I went with the Elect/Elect the benefit (hopefully) being able to see both sets in action at once. I am partial to rolling a SD/Elect or maybe Invuln/Elect which may still happen.
Other combos I've pondered are Ice/Elect and Elect/Dark. -
For what it's worth, I had trouble playing Invuln out of the gate as well and Stone was a complete write off for me. My first Tank that actually got anywhere was a Fire Tank. As others have said Invuln gets much better after 18, and even better after 20. Your Secondary can make a big difference. Tanks mature pretty late, but if you'd like something with smashy damage and good initial hit, you might try a Fire/SS they can really become beasts fast. If you want some thing that gets insanely tough, stick with your invuln, get Toughness and Weave and you won't be sorry. Also come to Tanker Tuesdays. It's a great place to get ideas and see how others have built their Tanks. Plus you get to see them in action and ask questions. Next one will be on Guardian on Sept 22, see the Guardian forum for more details. Hang in there, you're close to greatness!
Call_me_awesome has some great guides for Invuln Tanking under the Guides and FAQs section.
