  1. Tanker Tuesdays are the days where Tankers throw off the responsibility of protecting the squishies (for a few hours) to run missions, Task Forces and Trials with other Tanks (all Tank Teams).

Recently TT, under the leadership of Pep Rally, TT went "on tour" taking the light of Tanker Tuesdays to other servers. This resulted in a TT forming on Justice (TTJ), held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.

We now have 3 opportunities monthly to get our all Tanking fix:
the 1st Tuesday of the month on Champion
the 2nd Tuesday of the month on Justice
the 3rd Tuesday of the month on Tour.

We also offer "reloads" to servers where the interest to TTs has been high or if someone requests another round.

Recently the temptation of 5 Tuesdays in one month was too good to pass up and for the first time ever 5 Tanker Tuesdays were held in one month!! December gives us the opportunity to do it again, so we're going for it!!

Tanker Tuesdays are a player run event, so a European Server player would have to run them, which would be really cool! I'm not sure any of the organizers here have accounts on the Euro servers...but, no reason you couldn't start a TT there if you wanted.
  2. Anyone else interested in a reload to Triumph?
  3. W00T!! Pep will be in the house!!

    Okay just a quick summary:

1st Tuesday, the 1st, TT Classic
    2nd Tuesday, the 8th TTJ
3rd Tuesday, the 15th, TTT (Victory, I think..)
4th Tuesday, the 22nd, Freedom, with the 3rd Respec targeted along with what other Tankiness comes our way. Also, we'll run in Santa suits for all that are willing to get into the season.
5th Tuesday, the 29th, Guardian, no major TFs selected at this time, but open for suggestions. Top hats on this one to celebrate the coming new year!!

    See you all soon!!
  4. See the first post of this thread for all Tanker Tuesday times/dates. But, yes, Champion's (the original)Tanker Tuesday is on the 1st Tuesday of every month.

TBoxer, 3rd respec trial sounds great! So, for Freedom we'll look at doing that. Start spreading the word so we get a big turn out!

Luckily she asked me to look over it and I found the problem immediately. She had made the mistake of focusing on IO set bonuses instead of the enhancements they provide and ended up gimping her Stamina power (as well as some of her armors). We replaced the entire set with end mods and power-raced through a scanner mission without any problem where before she was resting after every battle (heh, wrote "newspaper mission" to start with - can you tell which side I play more? lol).

Still, I expect she'll have more problems later since I saw she had missed Burn while at the same time complaining about getting immobilized. Together with Greater Fire Sword coming up I expect she'll need SOMETHING to help with endurance again soon so I was looking ahead. Both sound good... guess we'll see if she needs burst or continuous end control when she gets past 38.
Any chance you can post the build? We can help/make recommendations if we can see what she's working with.
  6. Both those servers sound good to me. Let's run Freedom on the 22nd and Guardian on the 29th. In King's Row by IP Gate (on the wall) 6pm PT/9pm ET.

Any TFs or Trials or raids or other Tankiness you want to try?
  7. We can arrange that, which slot would you like?
  8. Hi all,

We've got another month coming up with 5 Tuesdays!! That means once again we get the opportunity get more Tanker Tuesdays in! Anyone interested?

    We currently have:

1st Tuesday, the 1st, TT Classic
    2nd Tuesday, the 8th TTJ
3rd Tuesday, TTT (Victory, I think..)
4th Tuesday, the 22nd, Open for more TT!
5th Tuesday, the 29th, Open for even more TT and our last opportunity for TTing this year!!

Seems like the 22nd should be done in Santa Suits, and the 29th should be done in top hats...

Post here if you're interested in another month of TTs!
  9. The next TT Tour will be on Victory I believe, 3rd week of December. If you need a Tanker Tuesday fix before then...

    1. Tanker Tuesday Champion, the first Tuesday of every month (this is the Classic TT)

    2. Tanker Tuesday Justice (TTJ), the 2nd Tuesday of every month

    3. We can run a reload to Triumph next week on the 24th! If you're interested in a reload, post to this thread and I'll set one up.
  10. As always the Tanker Tuesday Tour was great fun! We got to meet some new folks and send some AVs packing. Thanks for the great fun and turn out Triumph!
  11. Not sure I'll be able to make this one...

Give 'em a thrashing for me!
  12. Haven't tried SD/Elect, but I'd say:

    SD/Fire/Pyre
    Fire/SS/Pyre
    Fire/Fire/Pyre or Energy Mastery

Working on a Electric/Fire that seems very promising and has the potential be faster than my SD/Fire/Pyre.
  13. I haven't read in detail your build or the entire thread, just scanned, but I'd have to agree with what some of the others have said. Here's my 2 inf...

    1. Get Fire Sword Circle!!
    2. Get Greater Fire Sword (lose Breath of Fire)
    3. If you're going to use Burn consider and Epic set that will help keep them in the patch longer. Either Energy Mastery with Torrent (for the KD) or Earth Mastery for Stalagmites.
    4. Get rid of RotP (just me, I don't like the power. Some do some don't)
    5. Pick up Fiery Embrace if you can.
    6. Slot more damage in your attacks
    7. Not sure Ring of Fire is doing all you want it to. I'd replace that with something else (possibly Fiery Embrace) or slot it with enough recharge so you can spam it.
    8. Your Accuracy looks a bit low to me. I usually try for 40+% per attack.
    9. I've never liked flying Fire Tanks (I like the idea...but...), they haven't worked out for me. Take Combat Jumping and Super Leap. CJ will offer some additional Defense. Use your Blessing of the Zephyr with CJ.Take Hurdle.
    10. I'd slot up Scorch, it has a fast recharge and is a very effective attack (5 slot with Crushing Impact if you want more recharge bonus).
    11. Get rid of Breath of Fire.

In the meantime keep on tanking.

Wow and I thought I had a bad case of alt/tankitis!! Just kidding, great to hear you've nearly completed your goal. I've been working on a similar project myself in conjunction with getting a 50 on every server. I really look forward to seeing how your experiences compare to mine with the different sets.

BTW Pre-Gratz on your next 50!
  15. Sounds like a fun combo. Here's Maltese Knight's guide to Axes. It's got some great info in it.
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=123173

I'm currently leveling an Electric/Fire. I think I've taken all or most of the Primary Powers.

I don't think Power Sink + Energize is enough to let pass on Stamina (with out some creative/expensive slotting).

Currently I'm looking to maximize Recharge on mine as the initial Defense figures I got seemed low and costly to me. Although if this build fails I will be trying to put some Defense in.

Take Boxing or Kick, Tough. Weave only if you're going to try for Defense. You'll need to load up on Kinetic Combats, Obliterations, Touch of Death's, Reactive Armor etc.. depending on if you go Smash/Leth or Melee.

Hasten meshes nicely with Lightning Reflexes, so if you end up trying for +Recharge, then it's a must. Otherwise you can skip it.

Grounded is KB Resistance as long as you're on the ground. CJ gives you decent immobilization protect, so it's a good combo. However if you start jumping around you will get knocked down. The same thing will happen if you get tagged while Super Leaping.

At the moment I'm debating taking Power Surge or not. I currently have it and man the crash is insane! Of course you're a God (or near it) for 3 mins, so it's more a matter of play style. If you don't like crashing, don't take it.

Personally I think Battle Axe should add some decent mitigation with it's KD, KU and KB. Whirling Axe and Pendulum are awesome as is Cleave once you get used to stacking goons (LR will help with recharge on these powers, so another consideration for taking it). The mitigation the set provides might be enough to make even a minor amount of Defense worth while. It's some thing you'd have to try.
  16. I think the overall turn out was greatly affected by the server down time. Usually we have enough to run a TF and a couple of teams as well. I know once we got rolling we had several other Tanks show up. Which is good but can make it difficult to get teams together. Hopefully the servers won't be and issue next month and we can set up a few more teams.

Next TTJ will be on December 8th, hope to you all there!

Don't forget the TTT next week!

Cool! Look forward to seeing you there!
  18. Almost that time again! TTJ November 10th!

Hope to see you all there!
  19. TTJ in two days!! That's right, it's time to come hang out with all your fellow Tanks and issue smackdown on any goons foolish enough to stand in our way!

Tanker Tuesday Justice will be on November 10th. Meet in King's Row at 6pm PT/9pm ET by IP Gate and we'll get teams formed and start rolling.

Anyone interested in any TFs or Trials? I'd still like to get a Citadel TF going.

Syliph_Knight, hope you're able to join us. The more the merrier!

See you all in a couple of days!
  20. I didn't go War Mace I went with Fire and I'd agree that adding defense is necessary unless you can push the "Kill faster" aspect of the build .(which is what I'm starting to look at) WM does have Disorient and Stun (?), I don't recall) which will help mitigate damage so you might be able to get by with less defense. From the quick (non-purp) planning I did with Mids, it looks like 25% is doable without breaking the bank. Higher S/L can be pushed using ToD, KC and Obliteration but might be an expensive/long term goal.

    All Tanker Teams

Craziest all Tank damage output I've seen was during an ITF with 4 */SS, 2 */Fire, one */DM and a Shield/Axe. If Foot Stomping didn't clear the mobs SC and FSC did. Not many mobs lasted long. My screen was usually ablaze with orange numbers, bouncing goons, fire and "smoke". It was truly an awesome experience.

W00T! TT Classic!! I should be there!

I agree, "aggro sponges" have their place.

Also some Primaries and Secondaries work better together depending on which end of the spectrum you want to be on.

Tanker Tuesdays are a great place to see all this in action. I encourage the OP (or anyone who's interested) to come to one and see all the variety in play styles and builds. It's a great place to ask questions and see how the power sets work in a team environment.
  24. Check out Call Me Awesome's guide for Invuls : http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=126983

It has some great suggestions for survivability and slotting. And I agree with Rangle, I put off RPD on most of my Invulns until much later.

I'd get rid of Fire Sword (or Combustion, depending on if you want AoE or ST damage at the moment) and RPD. Slot up Scorch (add a recharge if you can) and take Boxing or Kick, and Toughness. This will put your Smash/Lethal Resistance up to about 75%. You can then add RPD in later which will soft cap it.

Add a slot to Boxing if you take it and two choices from either Stupefy or Razzle Dazzle for some End Recovery.

With Invincibility (surrounded by 10 mobs), Tough Hide and Weave you'll just have 6% (through IO sets) to get to the magic 45% Smash Lethal Defense, of course you'll notice you're not getting hit much at 39%...but it's your choice at that point.

You could give Weave a miss and take an additional attack or another Primary Power and rely on IO sets to get you closer to the magic 45% Smash/Lethal Defense, depending on you budget/resources.

I have a reason for asking this question. It's not so much that I want to try a team of all Tankers. It's more about justifying teams where more than 2 members are Tankers. Any time I have been in this situation, the kill speed drops way, way low, and it becomes evident that dropping one of the tanks for ANY other archetype would be an effective switch.

I am not a Tanker player primarily. I have had one or two Tankers through the years. It's not because I don't like the AT but because I keep finding that it is the only AT that contributes very little to team success when more than 1 or 2 members are of that AT.

    Thoughts?
As Rangle mentioned join us for a Tanker Tuesday and decide for yourself. It's true that some builds take a while to mature, but once in their zone many Tanks can do unbelievable amounts of damage while having very few issues surviving the aggro that surrounds them. I'm not sure what you're referring to in your post. Was it a particular incident or is this a general observation? It could be the Tank/s you were running with weren't designed to dish damage (I still see "aggro sponges" when I PuG).

I can't speak for others, but all of my Tanks are designed to defeat opponents as quickly as possible (the best damage mitigation there is), not just hold aggro and soak damage.
