new elec/axe tanker?

I'm currently leveling an Electric/Fire. I think I've taken all or most of the Primary Powers.
I don't think Power Sink + Energize is enough to let pass on Stamina (with out some creative/expensive slotting).
Currently I'm looking to maximize Recharge on mine as the initial Defense figures I got seemed low and costly to me. Although if this build fails I will be trying to put some Defense in.
Take Boxing or Kick, Tough. Weave only if you're going to try for Defense. You'll need to load up on Kinetic Combats, Obliterations, Touch of Death's, Reactive Armor etc.. depending on if you go Smash/Leth or Melee.
Hasten meshes nicely with Lightning Reflexes, so if you end up trying for +Recharge, then it's a must. Otherwise you can skip it.
Grounded is KB Resistance as long as you're on the ground. CJ gives you decent immobilization protect, so it's a good combo. However if you start jumping around you will get knocked down. The same thing will happen if you get tagged while Super Leaping.
At the moment I'm debating taking Power Surge or not. I currently have it and man the crash is insane! Of course you're a God (or near it) for 3 mins, so it's more a matter of play style. If you don't like crashing, don't take it.
Personally I think Battle Axe should add some decent mitigation with it's KD, KU and KB. Whirling Axe and Pendulum are awesome as is Cleave once you get used to stacking goons (LR will help with recharge on these powers, so another consideration for taking it). The mitigation the set provides might be enough to make even a minor amount of Defense worth while. It's some thing you'd have to try.

I recently leveled an Axe Tanker (SD/Axe) with the specific intent to do a lot of knockdown. I am, frankly, surprised at how much it does. Several of the powers have 50% chance to knockdown, but in actual practice, I get lots and lots of knockdown. Maybe the KD keeps checking on foes in the radius until it's knocked down its limit (like 10 targets in the case of Whirling Axe)? I don't know. What I do know is my character makes grand sweeping gestures and big clumps of guys are laid out on their butts.

Is no one playing this combo? I'd really like some feedback from someone playing it. I do appreciate the link to the axe stuff but it's really old and dated. So far I am looking at taking everything from elec except maybe grounded and power surge. And from axe I am planning to skip chop and build up. Is this a wise move?

Definitely take Grounded. It is Immob and KB protection, and is strong enough to handle most things in PvE. It's also passive, so it costs no endurance and never shuts off. It also gives -end and -recov protection so, when combined with static armor, you will almost never have your endurance drained.
Power Surge is a nice power to have, but easily skippable, especially if you decide you want to softcap yourself. I'd still take it to cover cascading defense failures, but it is real easy to put off until the 40s.
You pretty much want your entire primary. Tough/Weave are nice, and my SS/Elec brute took them, but he doesn't have very many attacks (KO, Rage, FS, Haymaker, and Punch) and has no epic pool powers. My Elec/SS tank is level 23, and only has the 3 res toggles, Energize, and Grounded, and does just fine for survivability, even against +2s, or even +3s.
I know nothing about the Axe, sadly. Only ever got one to 23, and didn't even have very many attacks for him then, so I have no first-hand experience to draw from. Sorry.

Hey everyone,
I just rolled up a new tanker that so far seems like it will have some great synergy. I picked electric armor and paired it with battle axe. My reasoning is the kd will help let me juggle some foes while waiting for heal to come back up and the end discount + power sink will let me keep swinging away. Got him up to lvl 6 so far and like the feel of the sets.
Now the problem is that I dont have any experience with either set so any guidance would be appreciated. Some of the questions i have are:
Which powers if any are skippable?
Which are must haves?
Should I focus on + recharge, defence, or a little of each?
Tough seems mandatory, but what about weave?
Will power sink + energize allow me to go without stamina?
grounded vs CJ or both?
Also if you have builds to share I'd love to see them.
