Having listened there are some really good shows there! Which are fun to listen to while you're playing.
Also Rosie puts on a great show on Tuesday nights @ 9.00 and there's normally a good crowd in Atlas Plaza on Defiant dancing away - just like the old days -
Considering the content, this issue feels more like an after-thought rather than part of a long term plan. Although I guess it's not been long since i14 and with GR coming perhaps I shouldn't complain too much

Also why on the subject of military options, I'd like to see some American Civil War pieces - they'd be great for golden age heroes. -

So then everyone who played on double xp weekends in Sg mode farmed prestigue then? The risk was no higher but the reward much greater. Surely then pretty much every single SG in the top 100 farmed some of its prestigue?
[/ QUOTE ]
No doubt there are shades of grey here, however I always view farming as a team who deliberately reset and restart certain missions over and over or exploit MA weaknesses. Things like double xp weekends are there for all.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was only using that as an example to show that as their is no clear view on farming that everyone can agree on, there is no point in even going on about the farming in this thread.
Some people would class doing radio missions over and over as farming (no resetting and restarting there)
Others would class doing TFs many times a week in SG mode as farming
There are so many people that say So many different kind of things about farming that to alot of people every single SG in the top 100 has farmed at some point.
[/ QUOTE ]
As I said "shades of grey"......
Woah another farming debate, that we got suckered into, no good will come of it
Perhaps lets return to topic and say well done Bruce -

Hmmm I disagree with that, the sg I'm in has gone from nowhere to 6th over the past few months, we don't farm at all, we just try to recruit committed players who play very regularly and have fun. We achieved our high ranking by having regular sg teams and tf's. Our team of leaders are proud to be in the top 10 as we feel we've got there the right way.
Congrats Bruce on getting in the top 100.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's kinda my point though.. The people who have gotten there the "right" way, through hard work and playing the game the way it was designed to be played DO deserve to be in that list, and quite rightfully so!
But, as a lot of the groups in there didn't, I feel that it tends to devalue the whole point of the list in the first place...
[/ QUOTE ]
I know where you're coming from FFM, I just wanted to make it clear that not all sg's on that list have got there due to farming. In fairness it doesn't bother me if other sg's are there due to farming (although I'll admit farming is lost on me and I don't understand why people want to bore themselves like that), in fact in someways it feels more of an achievement getting there without it
Our aim was never to race up the top 100, but just to be a good sg, where people can hang out and have fun, so our current ranking is a bonus anyway -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, congratulations on getting into the top 100, though personally I've never seen the allure of getting into a list that mostly occupied by farmers.
(Note, I'm NOT calling you farmers! Just saying... Who wants to be on a list mostly populated by those guys?)

Just thought I'd add to this thread and say that I've just picked up a sealed copy of CoH Deluxe off of ebay and want to apply the code to my account to get the cape and power slide ability.
However, when I enter the code, it takes me straight to new account creation. If it helps, I'm running an original 2005 CoH account, with the latest Steam edition, Cyborg, Good Vs Evil item pack and Mac item pack applied.
Any updates on this would be appreciated
Cheers,
Blast Bolt

I'd raise it with support and perhaps they will do something for you, as I warned above, I don't think the code can be applied to most accounts, as I think they were set up differently then. But maybe support will look at it kindly for you -

Sorry to labour the point but the prestige runs with the 12 month veteran reward are Prestige Power Dash, Prestige Power Quick, Prestige Power Rush, and Prestige Power Surge. Not the Powerslide, please read the link you posted. -

Does anyone here ever actually join SG's that get advertised over broadcast? I know that I for one, wouldn't do so...
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't as I'd prefer to get to know people first, also I do a fair bit of recruiting and I've never used broadcast - I prefer to send tells and talk through what we have to offer so people can make their own choices. -
A long read but overall an excellent and very in-depth guide!!
-
It's not one of the vet rewards and cannot be purchased from plaync anymore. Even if you could find a new sealed boxed collectors edition from a games store/ebay I'm not sure you could use the serial if your account was set up with a later version of the game.
-
I wonder what server you were on? I'm not trying to advocate one from the other and I'm only talking from my experience. I play mostly on Defiant and I find almost every player (new and vet) to be very friendly, sure there has been the occasional "idiot", however this has been a very rare event for me. I have ventured onto Union a few times (red & blue) and I was surprised by the difference. But then perhaps it's reasonable to assume that more players would provide a greater range of different personalities.
Perhaps I've just been lucky but I have to say that even when I join a team of people I don't know, usually they're all great fun people and I still think that coh has a great community. I do play everyday too. -
Hope your Birthday was good and the comps were great.
PS Lobster-Man says hi -
Hiya Arckont
I'd recommend GGRRR, we are a very friendly and very active SG. In fact at times over 10% of all players on defiant are GGRRR members. Over the past six months we have consistantly been the most active on the server and have stormed into the top ten supergroups (currently 7th but moving fast). We have a great base our own website, wiki, online comic, coalition DJ and much more. we run very regular teams/TF's and have a whole host of other events on a regular basis. One of our leaders specialises in arranging TF's and our superleader has a passion for playing/creating the toughest missions. Although our members are free to do what they wish, we generally don't go for farming and look for new members who enjoy the things we do,a love for the game, real teamwork, real missions etc.
Our main aim is to have as much fun as possible
Check the links below if you wanna find out more.
GOGO GGRRR! -

Great stuff, I really enjoyed it and I look forward to the next one.

At least the dev's are taking action, sadly this means some players who have spent a lot of time earning badges will lose out. The MA needs sorting out and hopefully i15 will address farming further, remember most of the community have been calling for action on this. You have to wonder though if the development team are in touch with us at all sometimes, perhaps the changes are felt to be needed in terms of the whole "MA fix", but then again we wouldn't be here if they'd got it right first time.Again better communication/discussion with us the players may have perhaps been wise.
Sadly it's beginning to feel like the great community on these boards is slowly crumbling and as much as I was a little fed up with the game when MA (farms) was launched at least it seems the dev's will take action and for me all the posts about "I'm leaving" due to every dev action or decision are becoming tiresome. -
A few of mine on defiant are:
Night Hornet lvl 50 db/will scrap
King Kirby lvl 50 fire/fire tank
Major Mystery lvl 48 kin/nrg fender
Doctor Ditko lvl 39 grav/rad troller
British Bowslinger lvl 38 arch/mental blastie
Golden Age lvl 33 nrg/nrg blastie
Patriot Angel lvl 29 ill/emp troller
Wentworth lvl 28 stone/ss tank
Confrontation lvl 27 peacebringer
Alas my altism and use of other servers restrict my 50s, currently I find defenders the most fun to play. -

We still have an office based in England, they'll be looking after the distribution for Going Rogue.

So I guess we can take this as confirmation that we will indeed get a boxed version of Going Rogue in the EU? -
We had a TF once that we turned into a bit of a drinking game. Good friend of mine got so drunk his toon just kept running into walls all the time and his chat was something like:
i;m loot
o'/ loste
lossst
<bleep>
where ruuu?
My reply:
erm there's 7 of us standing right behind you -
Amongst other things, I've been making some micro heroes for my sg buddies.Thought I'd share a sample here.
