Quote:This bug has also been happening in the Corporate Culture arc, flashbacked. A friend, @Doomguide, ran it and encountered a 40 PPE in the last mission (the arc caps at 34...).Let's not get too excited about it.. it was happening in more than just the first mission.
Very glad to see this fixed in the TF though. -
I ran a HERO System game a while back, the players were villains and their main antagonist was Synapse. That name was taken so Neuronia she became.
-
I tranferred over my basic IOd Ice/EM for this, will be there.
-
We can never be ELF STALKER but we can follow in his footsteps.
Hope to see you all at Kat's event this week. -
Thanks all! Happy to spend with old friends and new on a really fun server.
Only thing missing is some ELF STALKER stream of consciousness... -
Quote:Stalker:
So, Kat, Enemy at al: for each AT, what would you recommend as powersets for those making PvP toons?
Martial Arts, Spines, Dark Melee, Energy Melee
Regen, Ninjutsu, Willpower
Scrapper:
Martial Arts, Spines, Dark Melee, Fire Melee
Regen (pretty much) Fire Aura gives that almost permanent click heal as well.
Tanker
Fiery Aura, Willpower (RTTC will get detoggled a lot), Invln isn't bad these days
Superstrength, EM pretty much
Controller
Illusion or Mind
Most secondaries are fine except I'd avoid bubbles as defense bites.
Therm, Cold, Empathy, Rad is ok except for detoggling constantly, Trick Arrow is ok for a few laughs.
Defender:
Empathy, Cold, Rad is ok..., in truth just roll a Corruptor. Since Defenders lost their unresisted debuffs and Vigilance is lol, Corrs have Scourge which is <3.
Blasts I like Psy with Placate Proc or Sonic personally
Corruptors:
Pretty much Thermal with Sonic Blast. Pain Dom and Colds can do ok (the latter with Dark Blast)
Blasters:
Fire Blast, Psy Blast with the Placate Proc, Ice is meh now and Energy is pretty lol. Arrows can do ok.
Energy Manipulation, Elec isn't bad either
Masterminds:
Thugs is the really popular one though you see the Odds Bots or Ninja out there.
Secondaries: Thermal, Poison, Pain Dom, Storm
Provoke and Aid Self to season.
Brutes:
Superstrength or EM paired with Fiery Aura, Electric Aura (no rly), Invuln is seen around too.
Dominators:
Mind, Earth, Psy (I guess...), Fire
Fire, Energy got a boost, Electric come to mind as popular
Hero VEAT PBs haev a great bag of tricks with click heals, Phase, range damage etc...
lol Warshades
That's what I've seen off the top of my head.
Use Super Leap and Superspeed and Phase.
Use Hibernate. -
Quote:AlsoI'm transferring my half IO half SO AR/MM for this (awww yeah).
Felicia, please stop with the qqing.
If your SG's division has 20+ new pvpers, make an effort to take them to the Arena for these events so they learn and have fun.
I'm purposefully bringing a subpar Blaster (I promise to spam Full Auto for it's 25 points of damage, post-resists, as much as possible) just to have fun with the whole thing.
Heck, my Ill/Emp with 3 attacks defeated a completely IOd Stone/SS Tanker the other day and there wasn't as much drama there.
Just show up, grab a soda/juice/water/alcoholic beverage and some snacks and pee vee pee with we plebians.
PS Shin is right on the IO issue, I think Max on Freedom still runs all SOs and he crushes people.
"Sorry you never learn, your event still pits 5 yr vets purpled out against 3 month vets with no bonuses. Your still convinced someone with set bonuses giving them 100-500% damage bonus, 90% defence, and 20-30% more health and stamina is on equal ground with a new person? The only way to make it fair for new people is to have 2 seperate classes."
You might want to check what [Diminishing Returns] does to Defense....and it would be quite the trick maintaining that 500% damage bonus (which not all ATs can reach...) for a whole 20 (?) minutes... -

Quote:Pretty much this. The TPvPLs I have been involved with had fun all around. Even the new players that had never Arenad before had a blast and were laughing and having a great time, even if they got farmed horribly.
With a draft pick you get a good mix of experienced players and not-so-experienced ones. Keep in mind that the last FPvPL was primarily composed of test server PvP teams, so they weren't too discouraged by losing to more stacked teams. The population of a new FPvPL might not be so resilient.
If KBs keep up at the rate they are going on freedom, we may soon be able to start running more casual matches with preset teams as we establish a player base. From there we can get started on a league. I think it's still a tad too early to attempt one yet. We do need organizers to get the more casual matches going and help establish a player base, though. Some of you forum jocks should get on that :P
Of course captains will pick people they are familiar with and that's a smart way to go. I think the last TPvPL had a limit on the number of people from the same PvP SG you could have on one team...with the collapse of the PvP ladder that isn't feasible (or perhaps necessary).
The critical thing here is getting more people interested in Arena. Bear in mind though, in an extended season people lose interest/find other stuff to do so you need to know your 'core' is capable of being in a match and contributing. -
I'm not quite sure what's going on here.
I'm under the impression that we're competing for the 1 bil purse on Fridays.
I'm willing to compete on Fridays against others in JK's format...if the purse or JK aren't around (I was hoping to do this cooperatively, willing to keep the stats etc myself) then I guess the League is done as far as I'm concerned...as I'm not solo running it.
If it's still going on Fridays for the prizes etc, then swell and hope to meet some of the teams then.
Edit: I'm willing to host PvP for people if they feel like it, given I'm on. -
I think the only "Hey are you?" moment I've had in the last while was Turbo Ski on Infinity, who was on a Cold Corruptor and about to wtfpwn a LRSF.
I think I've only ever "seen" JoJo on RO chat, heh.
It's interesting though, when I'm on my main I sometimes give tens of millions to lowbies (I'd give more but I'm "cheap" with my virtual money...which is really really odd... because my irl career gives me a ton of 'loot' which I spend at almost careless rate, knowing I have savings and am well taken care off, hmmm) and a lot of them are like "That's so much money, thank you!"
Really depends on your 'inf perspective', I guess.
Guess I'll stop looking for "Nethergoat" heroside in Dark Astoria though, hahaha! -
I'm under the impression your resistances also decay gradually while in Sudden Death mode.
Please add a "No Suddden Death" click, ties aren't inimical to gameplay... -
Does the crazy +Regen aura suppress anymore when attacked?
Not a big build expert but maybe a KB IO in Acro and a Karma KB in Grant Invis if you can spare the slot? -
lol.
Also, thanks to everyone for all the kickballs and asswhoopins. Was in some close one as well toward the end.
Freedom is awesome for PvP, so many people playing all the time. -
In the hopes we can gather more...

I12 Arena setting
Old style Hamis
Get rid of NoPhase
Instant Healing as a toggle
No Aggro cap
I'd pay $20 for this, maybe less. -
Quote:No.Particulary, I'm interested in hearing about the old Hami raids and why people feel the new Hami is gimicky. I never had the chance to experience one as I was farm from level 50 when the changes were instated. From my understanding the new Hami is a bit easier and more forgiving on the AT's that can participate.
But what was it like back then... when you had to walk up hill both ways in the snow for a Hami-O?
The new Hami is a tedious pain in the posterior.
On Champion we used to raid 2-3 times a day at times on Sundays (depended on respawn timer) and at least several times a week.
It was actually pretty sweet. You had your flying Phantom army droppers to hold Hami's aggro. Then you had the Forcefielder walking around with a healing blanket while someone called the Mitos to be defeated. It's been a while, but I think we used to get Greens first, then yellows or whatever. In truth though we mostly moved in a circular pattern and shot stuff.
Then came the fun at times hilarious part, the attack on Hami. We'd all SWARM Hami (and log in our second accounts) and just get hits. At this point, massive griefing happened...people would pull in Monsters, spawn Kronos, hit Hami with Immobs and try to break the hold chain on Hamidon. Once holds were set, -Regen was applied and attackers were called in.
At the end, everyone got their Hamis in 30-35 minutes, sometimes less. It was actually a ton of fun. I'm having fun with the new ones as well, but there's less drama (a positive thing, but doesn't do much to my Monday forum reading...).
Of course, when the griefers prevailed, you had a YELLOW DAWN! A Yellow Mito would spawn for everyone in the bowl and wipe EVERYONE. These would either be hilarious or frustrating, depending on your mindset, and would cause an aborted raid.
P.S. Agree to disagree with Castle on this. The new ones are less fun and more work. The old ones were a massive gunslinging shootfest where you could do all sorts of stuff (unless you were a Scrapper, heh) and the threat of Yellow Dawn made it all the more fun. -
Quote:This.Comparing using an advantage in a video game to draft dodging is pretty awesome. Are you sentry4's second account or boyfriend or something? Good job on overstating your views and letting us all know you take life far to serious.
Also, it seems the Reichsmann temp thing works in Arena...it doesn't do anything but it will make a nice swirly vortex above your head.
Just duelled someone that used it heh. -
Quote:"Vigilance:How would you even explain that in the inherent description. lolz. By the way TK on defenders is so OP. That is all.
You are vigilant! Not necessarily to your teammate's health, though that does matter. You are especially vigilant to your enemy's status. Once that enemy reaches half health, your attacks gain an endurance drain component, increasing gradually until their endurance or health reaches zero.
Defenders are so vigilant they tire out their opponents!"
+1 on Defender TK being sweet sweet pvp chocolate.

Arena locations are important for tournaments and events.
You generally want everyone gathered in one location (Pocket D is the place of choice with mixed fighting) for a headcount, etc.
Some tournament formats used to have a specific amount of time in which to start matches and everyone had to be in the same Arena salon (PI Ruby was popular on Test). If there are player-related issues such as inspiration swaps with a judge present, location could matter as well.
As pointed out by Catwhoorg, you can get inspirations and temp powers there as well. -
Quote:Cole's Notes Summary:glad to see there are pvpers like mac around to counter this.
if you believe that nothing mac or anyone does will make a difference, why are you still here?
NotPutzing:
There are map holes in some maps (Perez, Eden)
Melee classes are disadvanatged over range (including Boost Range)
Selectable Arena maps would be great
Unresisted damage/debuffs may be an issue
(Etc, long list of VALID issues)
Result:
Selectable Arena maps (yay)
Buff period (yay)
Sudden Death (This is aaaaaaaaaargh beyond words, please give us a toggle to get rid of this crap, ties are more than fine)
I13 mess
I like mac as well and see he means well, but the PvP community is asking for a few renovations to the basketball court and we're probably going to end up with a water polo arena.
I'm here because I have a bunch of friends still ingame and the PvP is passable with some of the Arena settings. IOs are kinda cool as well. -
Alright Silit, I'll see about moving my Ill/emp over there again...will need a place to stay while on Freedom.
Sounds like fun stuff.
-
Quote:ELF STALKER (former Mayor of Champions) is correct.well man we been talking on vent last couple days.... about pvp... its just we have keep chipping away. Good stuff don't happen over night. I been seen little more active in RV and kickball. I mean yesturday there were some good kickballs lastnight. I mean I have though about moving to a different server for pvp.. just to fight new face. I have been fighting the same oh people for many..many months. I say stick a toon on freedom but not all of them... I mean I heard there alot peeps in freedom.. but its a kiddy farm over there.. which might annoy you.
Now, there are TONS of people on Freedom so you'll always find someone to fight. There are times though when you'll join a team and it will be 6 Fire/Regen Scrappers and something...it is nonstop pvp button mashing though.
THere is a small core over there that takes their arena seriously and you'll get along great with them, I have no doubt. -
Quote:Sup Psyrene.how about no U to you both ..........
and a new PvP group huh...interesting, I will have to get in touch with you when I finally get back home...
oh and WHAT's Up EN3MY and Kat, 4shes, Neuronia...
I miss rapin face with you guys.
and I did find a good blast from the past with EN3MY, Helm, and Aura doing some face rapin whilst we did the support....ah the good ole fun times.
.
PCJL were such ***** with that storm team. That is all.
Quote:I have to comment on what you were saying about people putting HOJ down because they are not considered Elite pvprs. I think that perhaps some people need to come down a notch or two. There are currently no elite pvprs on champion. None. Zilch.
As far as I know there are maybe 4-5 of us that ever hardcore test pvp'd. Me, En3my, As4es and Neuronia come to mind. I am sure there might be one or 2 that still pvp on a regular basis that I am not thinking of. Perhaps a few PCJL are still pvp'n (as far as I know they only do their private KB's any more but I could be wrong). Out of us 4 I am pretty sure every one of us has not done nearly as much pvp as before I13 and none of us have competed on a hardcore level lately. There are a few others that participated in the TVpvl (however you spell it) on test. Besides those no one has competed on any kind of extremely competitive level. Even out of those that at one time competed on an eletist level, we are all rusty now and noobs again anyways. You can't exactly stay at the top of your game when every one you compete against is not at that level. Hell I admittingly played my emp about a month back in some KB's and I absolutely sucked. I didn't die that much but I couldn't catch my rhythym on my buffing and healing. I bet even as good as En3my is he will admit he isn't nearly as good as he used to be because those that offered any hardcore competition to practice against are no longer here. Being the best when there is not competition isn't exactly an accomplishment.
I've been doing a lot of 2 v 2 and 3 v 3 events on Infinity, and it usually end up my Ill/Emp with a fellow dUmbie undefeated, we beat other dUmbies and another player etc.
It's still like PvPing in molasses though, even with the Travel Suppression off, just horrible stuff. Champion, Infinity and Freedom are the only servers where good spikes and real spikes still happen on a regular basis, and even then you have a 4-5 second window to react, which is abso-freaking-lutely reedeeculously long.
Quote:
Basically my very long winded point is that there is NO one on Champion that is just that good that they have the right to put down others. This is the perfect time on Champion to try to get new pvprs because there is no one that hardcore still around. We are mostly all on the same playing ground of trying to learn to be better pvprs.
Also, lol @ the pantiesname characters. I remember everyone on Paragon Elite changed their named to somethingpanties before some match, good times.
Also +1 on memorable matches against Storms. My favorite is still the one we won against PCJL in Atlas, where Proj had to physically threaten Syph on Vent from rushing and sonic nuking them on the globe. -
I don't think you can honestly say you've failed.
The problem with PvP in this game is it isn't advancement or loot-driven (well the PvP IOs are nice) and people have a conception about how their l33t Fire/Kin can mop up 30 mobs and why can't they take out that Therm or Stalker or Tanker or...
PvP is just something that isn't for everyone. If you have a weekly event for it, like kickballs or something, a bunch of people will show up and so on.
You just can't expect people to be as hardcore about it as we are.
I mean, seriously...a few years ago I was on Test 15-20 hours a week and stuff like that. I can't see myself doing that now.
Do what I do, park a few toons on an active server (Virtue or Freedom, Infinity is so-so) and keep some on Champion just for fun.
I'm probably moving some stuff to Champion soon...
You just need a special type of personality to get your face pounded and laugh it off and tweak and then go back to it. It's not for everyone.
