Incidentally, if one had to chose between dropping either incinerate or combustion, which would you find least useful?

Well, since i20.5 brings us more Lore pets, I was wondering if we couldn't get a couple more Judgement blasts? I was thinking one Lethal-based and one Smashing-based.
The lethal one would be a circle of dancing swords, like the ones Battle Maiden uses in the Apex TF, circling the character for a bit (say 30 secs) and damaging anyone near like a damage aura - but clickable. Maybe including a slight repel effect too, or avoid effect, as foes try to get away from the madness.
As for the smashing.... Can we please, please, PLEASE get a stoneblocks rain power? I really really REALLY want to be able to go "Rocks fall, EVERYBODY DIES!" while cackling madly.Maybe a chance to stun whatever minions manage to survive it too. :-p
I'm not foolish enough to hope for a psychic or toxic-based incarnate-level blast, but hey, feel free to prove me wrong too. -
Quote:I wouldn't say that. What it lacks compared to some set is reliable AoE control. GDF, like all AoE holds, is long to recharge and short duration even under Dom. Wormhole is a FANTASTIC power but its radius is too small to reliably hit a whole spawn on big teams. DS is... Not to be mentionned. Ever.Ok, THIS is the response I was hoping for.
So, Grav isn't weak, it's just not very control-heavy, is that right? And as all doms and controllers will tell you, without a combo power or a tank, AoE immobs are usually just an invitation to lick dust off the floor.
What it gets in return is extremely powerful SINGLE-target control. GD, Lift, Propel if it deigns to KB (although as said, it's FAR more useful to a Controller than it'll ever be to a Dom), Crush against AVs, And once you get Singy your mags will stack like nobody's business. I actually think some claim yto have broken the PTdoD's mez protect on an AV that way.
Find a secondary that complements that and you'll be a real boss killer. You'll manage against minion spawns (who doesn't?) but where you'll be at your best si against single big-HP targets like EBs.
A final note : Singy is the only INTANGIBLE pet, so it'll never block passage to you and your team (but will repel mobs away, oh the fun!). A GREAT tactic against melle-heavy enemies is to hide INSIDE it - you'll be pretty much untouchable while they fly away. -
Silly note I know, but since we're adding Alpha and such powers here, I thought I'd mention Sands of Mu.
It's a fantastic pick for the vet reward, fits thematically with your character, and provides a nice damage spike against tough target, say bosses. Once you've mezzed the whole spawn, use it to waste its leader - even with the excrutiatingly long animation my D2 corruptor uses it all the time. Definitely brings up those orange numbers we all love so much, even if you can't slot it. Tar patch makes sure of that, and it's just beautiful to Scourge with my fists. -
Wow, the difference was amazing! Even with only a group of three, getting the 92 Magmites I was missing took only 30 minutes, which is half what finding the first 8 took me on my own - so essentially it went twenty-three times faster!
Thanks for the tips you guys gave me, it saved what's left of my sanity ! -
Thanks for the replies guys, now I know what I gotta do.

Drat - I was gonna invalidate that topic since I found the info on a previous thread (my search-fu was off by a typo in Vlocanic. :-p)
I saw that people advocate teaming to get them to spawn in the hollows' outdoor maps. If I crank up my notoriety settings to x8, does that work for the Julius mission? I'd hate to get 3 people bored silly just to help my level-50 kill grey stuff. :-p -
Is there a good mission/arc (aside from the Cavern trial) to hunt Magmite Lords? I'm lucky if I find 4 an hour combing the center of the hollows, and I never saw one in the Trolls Tunnels.
-
But essentially, it requires one, more likely two, teams spreading out over the whole map then gathering at the weakened point right? Between that and the hassle of building a team, it seems like a real hassle to get all the badges. BTW, do ALL the banners lose their invulnerability at the same time?
And another question - I think I saw mentions of people "forcing" Eochai and Jack to spawn during the halloween event, are those facts? Can one force-spawn them? -
Actually I beg to differ - some appreciate the extended form.
I own a Mac and work on another one at my job, so I can't run mids. Much easier that way.

I don't think he meant the Fiery assault or icy assault secondaries, but the fire mastery or ice mastery ancilliary pools - the "patron pools" of heroes. Since issue 18, all archetypes have access to those, not only the hero-side ones (and no need to unlock them either!). So no need to scrap the build, since you can choose any of them at level 41 just like a normal pool.
Also, to answer the question a couple posts back, when you respec into inherent fitness you get those powers (all 4 of them) for free at level 2 and can slot them as any other pool power. Until you do, they eat one pool selection and a power selection for each power you took, so respecing is HIGHLY recomended. When you respec, all your slotted enhancements can be re-slotted as you see fit, none get destroyed. If at the end of the respec, you didn't keep some of them (you can keep ten spare unslotted ones in your normal enhancement tray on top of whatever you re-slot) they get sold for their full inf value.
Also, as a personal note, I'd move some slots from Health to Fire imps - that power is woefully underslotted, and with Familiars sets so cheap, you can get some great bonuses on it. Health need at most three health IOs since Diversification came into play, and all the other enhancements you pu in them are pretty much wated. Expedient Reinforcements gets you better recharge for example at 4 slots I think. But YMMV. -
My (new) main is a fire3 dom who achieved Permadom at level 36 and can exemp down to about 28 and still keep most of it. He's 47 now, so no purple still. Here's how I managed:
Char and Cinders both get 4-slot gaze of the basilisk = 15
Fire cages (which I took at level 35) gets 5 Enfeebled Operation = 3,75
Flashfire gets a 5-slot Stupefy (skip the proc!) = 6,25
Fire Imps get expedient reinforcement (I put a full set for the stats and the def bonus as well) = 6,25
Incinerate get a 5-slot Crushing Impact = 5
Flares and Fire blast both get a 5-slot Entropic Chaos (the healing proc saved my butt a LOT of times, and I spam those powers so much I never needed the Healing pool) = 12,5
Blaze gets a 6-slot decimation, so I can get build-up every once in a while, but 5 slots can wing it. = 6,25
Combustion gets 4 Obliteration = 5
Consume gets a 6-slot efficacy adaptor = 5
That's 65% so far. for the rest, I took :
Combat jumping, slealth, grant invisibility, invisibility, maneuvers (I never use it) - all with the basic slot, all with LotG +recharge global. With Hero or Vilains merits, I bought about three ever two weeks, so in a month I had all five. I bought them at level 25 (use the slider at the top) so their effect lasts until I exemp to 22. That's 37,5 %. Total : 102,5. More than enough for permadom with Hasten.
With all that, I can use Flashfire and Fire Cages every fight, or dom-cinder every other spawn, then run in, hit Combustion, hot feet, consume, then Incinerate and shoot the Lts and Bosses. Perma dom TOTALLY changed my playstyle. I took the fire APP and now I'm an AoE death machine. -
Quote:Actually nothing that evil (though you almost had me there) - it just appears that the last patch caused the EU version of the game to switch around the names of the servers. My toons are fine and accounted for, they are just on the server "COHworldServer_14". Go figure. And of course, no notice anywhere of this issue - I had to dig in the European boards to find the info.Do you only play on one server? Are all your characters on every server gone?
Is it possible that you made a toon on Freedom for last nights badge event. Delete the toon after the event and didn't log back in until today? That would put Freedom at the top of the server list and if you had no other toons on that server the select screen would be empty. This would be the most benign answer to your issue.
I can also envision the situation where a GF that doesn't like you spending so much time on a game has gone through and deleted all your toons but I'd rather not think about something like that happeing -
Mine is scarier. When I tried to log into the game ten minutes ago, ALL my characters were gone. I had my unapplied extra slots available, but no alts, just "create characters" empty slots. Should I start screaming in agony?
-
Another argument in favor of /Fiery Assault is that Consume grants Endurance Drain Resist, at VERY high levels (starts I think at 50% and goes pretty much to 95 fully slotted) which is an absolute lifesaver against the electric end-draining magics of the witches. of course you get it a bit late, but damn is it useful on a Katie Hannon TF.

An Ice/Fire Dom or a Dark/Dark (or Dark/Traps) Corr might fit your bill too.
-
I beg to differ. Less than a month ago, I participated in a SD arena to allow a friend to get the badge. Despite getting offed TWICE by a scrapper then leaving hte match, my Ice/Ice controller got to teh second round instead ot my victor. Then, even though I didn't play int he final, I was the one to get the badge. Still definitely buggy. I petitioned the GMs about it right away but I don't think my friend got the badge awarded.
-
Silly question, I know, but since I can't make it either to the invasion this week-end or the big shinding on the 27th, I got a quick question : is that mysterious badge awarded for going to BOTH, only the one on the 27th, or on the 27th with a supposed future chance to get it again? I'm getting lost in the threads here, can someone clarify? Much thanks.

*Sigh* Yes, it was. Never mind out attempts at levity, let us return to the topic at hand.
-
Ah-ha ! Now that would be an interesting starting point. I'll have to give it a spin. Thanks to all for the replies, BTW.

Perfect "Steampunk" fodder. I'm sure Agatha Heterodyne could come up with Dual Webbing Pistols in 10 minutes flat.

One way for contact stores to be interesting again would be the possibility, every time you complete a mission for them, to buy one common or uncommon salvage piece for a reasonable price. Some contacts would sell arcane, tech or even more thematical slavages in their level brackets (think Rikti Metal for the FBI guy in FF, or Carnival Mask for the editor in PI.) Completing a story arc would let you buy one RARE material. All those would be available only once per arc or mission, but it would really make Flashbacking for salvage a worthwhile thing, and it'd be far easier than AE farming for some common stuff. Of course, the option still would not unlock until you got the first level store for common salvage, or second level for uncommon/rare.
