  4. It seems that CoX doesn't like my video card, it's an Nvidia 8600 GTS. It has happened before that the card wasn't recognized but either the game ran just fine or an update solved it.

    This time updating didn't help (drivers from Juli 2008), and after clicking away the errors I'm left with a black screen and nothing happens.

    Errors I get are:

    You card or driver doesn't support
    GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array

    You card or driver doesn't support GL_ARB_multitexture

    You card or driver doesn't support GL_ARB_texture_compression

  6. I had detention field but I found I never used it.

    Right now I LOVE TP foe. It doesn't always work but I use it often in missions where mobs are scattered in an disadvantage way (either too close to others or some are up and others below which really messes up the AI).

    I also have aid self in my current build, but was left with whatever power do I need to choose now ... so I took shift very late which made me rethink what I did and get stamina rather than detention/aid self. I choose them considering what I thought was useful to me.

    The thing I hate about detention is that as long as the power is enabled I can't harm the subject detained.

    I play my MM with my dark/dark who has fearsome stare and petrifying gaze. It works well and I still get to shoot at them.

    I'll keep the mace beam volley vs aid self in mind. I did find it easy to use and even with the pps I can get hurt. After I respec once I'll still have one respec left which I may use when I hit 50 and have experienced the powers (though I'm already warned that the patron powers are generally quite underwhelming - so I probably just take them for the "cool" factor). Only too bad that MM's don't get the pet.

    Oh I missed about the attacks, but I have had them in the past and found that the damage I did was terrible compared to the violence unleashed by my droids. The only exception was force bolt/blast, which is always handy to use. they can't hurt me when they're on their [censored].

    I might try a weaponskill/aid self instead of swift/etc. To be honest, I didn't find that I needed stamina - it was merely a point of filling things up when something didn't pop up that I felt "Oh, I must have that power". Up to level 35 I've been doing without stamina and as you mentioned, cab's do the trick just as well.

    I remember having dual pistol on my thugs/dark and I loved it. (again it just looked cool, I didn't care about dmg persé with her)
  7. To be honest, blackstar is there because I didn't know what else to pick. I find the end crash after it very annoying, but since I duo with my MM I can deal with it easier. If I would be soloing I'd pick something else. It's all in all not very impressive imo. The animation barely gives you the idea this is your nuke and the damage is equally underwelming.
  8. Yes I noticed that about the Protector bots, suddenly spawning those seeker drones and poof gone is their end! I had no idea slotting them with end would help.

    The force bolt got some attention when I had slots to spare and no idea where to put them, so it isn't there for necessity other than I had to put them somewhere. If I remove them, I'd have no idea where to put them instead. So if I remove the two from force bolt, where should I put them instead?
  9. The first post is what my current build is, and this is what I'm looking into after respec and hitting 50.

    The slots are a bit chaotic in the end because I had more slots to use than I think I needed, yet when we get to the later powers I'm kinda getting short on slots. Too bad you can't skip using slots until you get to a level where you can actually use them.

  10. I'm currently at a point that things start to confuse me. There are some things in the build that I can do without and perhaps put something else there instead.

    I do have a few unused respecs left so what are the things I should change? I took detention field because I didn't know what else, swift is there for the same reason as is aid self (though that's not really a bad choice persé). I'm thinking about the idea of trying to get stamina and drop detention/aid self. The equip/upgrade really take up end, but it's only done once so I'm still uncertain. If not that, then what other powers can I benefit from.

  11. Toy Doll is a concept character originaly based on vahzilok's Eidolons. So I started out with the dark/dark. The mu mastery comes from finding eldritch runes and soul shards seemingly originated from mu mystics so later on she's going to need Scirocco's help.

  13. Can't help you with the recipe, but I do know that Wentworths (or whatever it's called) is the only place you can sell your homemade IO's.

  15. I've been browsing the forum trying to find some info for this type. Several posters have mentioned to take more than 5 of the available powers, like:

    Power Slice, Ablating Strike, Typhoon's Edge, Blinding Feint, Vengeful Slice, Sweeping Strike, and 1000 Cuts

    Then there was a post about the weaken combo which could be helpful, but that would mean I end up with all the powers from the DB pool (and how big of a deal is the weaken combo with WP as secondary?)

    Also what are WP's must have's? Please take into account that I duo with a sonic/sonic defender.

  17. I left the game a few months ago and returned today again and noticed that I no longer can access my base. It's a starter's grid and I never had to pay rent for it, now I cannot access the base and it states that I have to pay rent. Yet when I go to the registry there's nothing to pay (the standard "you already paid your rent bla bla" message pops up). So how can I gain access to my base again?

    My friend is considering playing and wants to team up with me. I'm wondering what AT would be best? In CoH the choice wasn't too difficult since you can have a dedicated healer there. In CoV it's a bit different from what I've gathered.

    Mostly looking for a support role - but all AT's seem to be on the offense side.

    My highest is a L10 MM with necromancy/dark
    I have a L4 Stalker.
    And, a L3 plant/thorns dominator.

    I have to admit that I made my necromancer with the idea of going solo, but a rad/kin with buffs might be useful. Other than that, I've really no idea. Suggestions?
  20. Body armor can easily switched so that I can have more slots in LRM Rocket.

    Shannon, good call on defiance mode! I completely forgot about that. So I'll check out the health part too.

    yeah, active defense is something I'm slowly getting used to. I already did a part respec (I'm L32), and the difference is simply unbelievable. Definately need a rech on tripmines, but they absolutely rock.

    As for caltrops, they're almost an automatism - every mob I take on I drop caltrops. Makes life so much easier.

    I was wondering about Superspeed though. If that still helps with not being detected. I might change things around so I can pick that up again too. (I had it before, but dropped it to get the medicine power tools)
  21. Actually that's a very good idea. I always found it incredibly annoying that I can be interrupted. I also found out that the damage output is far less than I am used to. Granted, one shot kills might have been a bit too much - but that's why I had so much dmg invested in it. Now that things have changed I need to adjust and relearn my chosen class.

    I'm going to try without snipe, and put some range in slug, also the M30 looks good. Don't think I've tried that one before. NOw is as good a time as any .

    Same here, I keep deleting and making new alts trying to find what I like best. Problem is, every other day I feel like doing something else. Today the flavor is cheese, tomorrow it could be ham.

    I prefer combat jump/super jump.

    Combat jump because of extra defense. Super jump because it's really the best traveling power, imo. Especially combined with superspeed.
