Quote:Obvious comments on the usability of a forum where posting is disabled and the acknowledgement of the quoted posts sarcasm aside, people are less likely to post derogatory, vulger etc. comments on the boards if the person they are aiming them at knows who wrote it and everyone else can see it.
I think the whole "omg awful, terrible things in my rep comments nobody would ever say in public!" hysteria is comically inflated.
I'm as polarizing a figure as you're likely to find, and the most insulting rep comment I got was my stalker who commented "jerk" as often as they could for a few weeks.
I'm sure some over the line things were said. But that happens 'out here' too. And they don't shut the forums down over it, they police the offenders and move on. -

Quote:I'd rather the mods have more time to mod the actual boards than spend that time having to sort out the abuse of a small portion of the userbase's 'rep' comments.
Maybe we ought to disable posting so the mods don't have to sort out the abuse of a small portion of the userbases comments?
Since it's the same job. -
Quote:We don't know their intent, unless it's something they've specifically addressed. They haven't upgraded them so far, but we have no idea what the plan is going forward. However, what I'm a little disappointed about that developers seem to have absolutely no intention of upgrading the old pieces. Given the current graphics, and the recent shiny costumes they give us, the old pieces are just terrible compared to the new ones!
It isn't much of a reach to expect the "ultra graphics" in GR to include some sort of makeover for older, underperforming costume bits. -

Quote:Which illuminates the utility of the rep system quite nicely. So say why. That, by the way, is exactly why we've been told that's frowned on - "fluff" posts (/agree, /no, /jranger.)
It gave the community an outlet for those sorts of impulses.
Quote:Use the star system on the thread. You have another way to indicate "I've read the thread and approve/disapprove" if that's all you've got to say. Of course - you can always PM the person if you don't want to add comments to the thread, again.
A comment on a thread as a whole is meaningless to the individual posters, other than maybe the OP.
Quote:Except, of course, that it has decided to be open after closing. And that people aren't just reacting to someone "being a jerk." And that others are being abusive and violating forum rules. (With the added "bonus" of being anonymous.) -
Uber stinx!
=P
I just cashed in 5 rolls my ar/dev earned on his way to 50 and three of them were garbage. -
Quote:It depends on what your character goals are.Clarification: this post is not in any way a complaint about current prices, the market, ebil flippers, waa-waa I'm poor, etc. I think everything is just fine the way it is.
I'm simply looking for opinions. With the steadily increasing prices I see on the market, how much do you have to have to be considered rich? Let's face it, 10 million won't buy you what it used to.
My opinion: if you're at the point where you ready to start tuning up your toon, showing off some bling, or you just like a big fat (wallet) bulge in your spandex, you need to be approaching 10 figures.
Again, I don't feel that's good or bad, just where things are about now.
I have characters who're "rich" with 20 or so million, because they're already enhanced the way I want them. That 20 million is gravy.
On the other hand, my AR/Dev is 'poor' with 500 million. Even though he's pretty effective right now with frankenslotting and a couple of good sets, I want to kit him out with an IO monster build. That 500 million will cover maybe two powers. -
who cares what lame color text or crummy origin attack Superman would get in the CoH-verse?
He'd get reported by some busybody and generic'ed before he set foot outside Atlas Plaza anyway. -

I see how you are!
=P
I've run into Catwhoorg multiple times, and I actually teamed with Squez on a not-so-quick Katie, only I didn't know it until quite a while later when that character name appeared in a post (The Eutruscan Snood).
I've also seen Swellguy, but only because Squez invited me to a team. -
Quote:i was wandering if you guys would have want the devs to make the world of the game open for both factions, to be able to travel anywhere regardless of your faction.
I'd personally enjoy a system like the one they had on my WoW server- PvE unless you were flagged, which required some sort of action on your part.
But I don't mind the current state of affairs, and I doubt the playerbase would get on board with any sort of open flagged PvP, given the general antipathy to head-to-head competition. -
Quote:Welcome to Capitalism, the crazy game where businesses are required to make money if they want to continue their existence!I'm inclined to agree with the OP. The free content we are getting is not as good as the microtransaction content, which keeps on growing. Want all the cool costume pieces, cool emotes, cool costume changes, cool travel powers? Pay $50 for them.
Booster packs are infinitely more "fair" that vet rewards by virtue of being equally available to everyone. -
Quote:In that case, I fully support his party pooping! So I was the complainer, not him. He was agreeing with what you just said.
Of course, I also support the addition of other styles of super-bitchin run animations included in future sets, or grafted on to Ninja Run after the fact.
It's so super fun everybody should have their own flavor! -

fewer canes + another desirable thing to spend them on = higher cane prices.
How much higher depends on how easy or hard the new mission is to farm. -
Quote:Well, the pack is built around a NINJA theme, and as the power is called NINJA RUN.I'm sorry to be the party-pooper (and making a habit out of it) but it looks to me like the intent of the Ninja Run was... Well, a NINJA Run, and they picked what is simultaneously the most iconic and most ridiculous of ninja run style. I don't mind the arm positions so much, even if they're over-flashy, but the "quick steps" leg movements are what betrays intent in my eyes.
It's well made for what it is - a very exaggerated NINJA running style, as opposed to one that is merely acrobatic. The running animation isn't natural, but it isn't intended to be. It's intended to be this unnatural tap-tap-tap of a ninja running through the woods. Sort of like what you'd see in the Bunnykill cartoon, just to pull an example out of the air.
I'm not sure what your complaint is?
"Well sure, the set is called FIRE BLAST and I guess it does a good job of looking FIERY, but still..." -
This thread is fascinating in the manner of a five car pileup on the highway.

Gratz!
The more the merrier on Billionaire's Row! -
Just spent ten minutes ninja-ing around Sharkead with my ninja blade/willpower stalker.
WOW!
10/10, would buy again, worth way more than 9.99.
haven't even looked at anything else in the pack, but Ninja Run is the best thing since pre-ED IH. -
Quote:Probably gonna get flamed for this, but I don't care. I need to get this thought out.
The way I see it, Role Playing is a lot like Pizza.
nearly everyone loves pizza, hardly anyone loves role playing.
Even by the low standards of internet forums, this is a poor analogy. -

Paypal is garbage.

Quote:presumably the developers of the game have the necessary restraint to stave off disaster.Slippery slope is stuff such as
Buy an AT
Buy a level
Buy a recipe/salvage
Buy a self heal power
None of the Ninja stuff appeals to me except the run, which is enough to net them my ten bucks.
