When you first go to get the greek coins to give Charon, you are told that a piece of you may need to accompany Charon to the land of the dead to get the soul you seek, and since it is a round trip then you need the third coin. So when it gave me the part aabout improvising I knew the blood part was what was meant by a piece of my own soul.
One coin to start it, then some blood, then the amber widow, then the other two coins, then the dying breath I believe was the order I did it in.
Also thanks to this ritual we now have a way to revive the fallen Statesman -
He's turned 80 as of today. So which movie had your favorite John Williams music?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._John_Williams -
Interesting new addition to the event, not too happy with having to repeat the Ganymede/Scratch mishes though to get to the Valentines. Once one has the badges one should be attuned if they just visit Cupid....er I mean DJ Zero...

Quote:I'm trying to remember that villain but it escapes me. Still the movie sounds like the basic origin-setup for franchise sequels that we have come to expect from new franchise debuts. From imdb.... No Judge Death is listed in the credits and Lena Heady is playing the part of Ma-Ma Madrigal.....
Still if a sequel is done, I think Judge Death would be the best villain, if a third movie comes then give us all 4 of the Dark Judges. Just please, PLEASE do not give us:
1. Judge Dredd vs. Batman, I've never been a big fan of such comic franchise crossovers.
2. Judge Dredd vs. the Aliens, this was done in the comics, leave it there.
3. Judge Dredd vs. the Predator: same reason as #2. No need to have a huge "rights/royalties" issue or debate. Dredd has plenty of villains from his own universe to deal with, no franchise crossovers. Granted the Predator would make a good foe for the Judges and Dredd.... -
Yeah, making him a major character or dare I say "Sidekick" to Stallone-Dredd didn't help things at all. Plus Stallone as Dredd and of course the lack of helmet for most of the movie.....
-
From what I've seen so far, if you are looking to speed up getting the Empath badge then go for +HP, if you just want survival and don't care about Empath then go regen definitely.
-
I'm hoping that after the credits we get a teaser scene for a possible sequel.....of THANOS of Titan as he claims the tesseract/Cosmic Cube, or if he manages to breach Asgard's weapons vault and claims the Infinity Gauntlet.
Also if THANOS is the sequel villain, then we may also get certain other cosmic heavyweights like Drax the Destroyer, Adam Warlock and Captain Mar-Vell. -
Good. Judge Death and the Dark Judges should be for the sequels as they would be a bit much for the opening movie story.
Ah well, as long as Stallone and Rob Schneider aren't the villains....or maybe they can appear in the movie and be arrested by Dredd for impersonating a Judge.. -
Quote:Indeed in Dredd's first appearance his uniform was rather conservative in terms of the shoulder pads. Still had the chain attached to his badge but the pads were smaller.Visually the helmet is a spot on representation of what's in the comic. As for being oversized, I'm not gonna knock any helmet where it protects my precious brains from being damaged.
I remember posting it when this movie came out, but the costume design is far closer to the early Dredd look by Ezquerra(sp?) than the more iconic 'big shoulderpads' look we associate with him now. I think all the highlights would just make me a target rather than anything else.
And in a city of four hundred million potential perps, I wouldn't be that anxious to get recognised too quickly.....

I think this movie is early in Dredd's career and he is supposedly helping train Anderson if the rumors are true. Not sure what the main villain/threat will be, but here's hoping a sequel has Judge Death if he isn't in this one, and a third movie have all the Dark Judges. -
Quote:This. Judge Anderson is a psi-Judge and very human in terms of how she behaves in the comics. Dredd on the other hand was cloned and raised to be basically the penultimate Judge. He lives and breathes the law and will one day perish enforcing the law, which is perhaps his greatest wish.
Olivia Thirlby is a darn good choice to play Anderson as a rookie Judge. The character Anderson was always better at expressing her emotions, had a sense of humor and many friends amongst the other Judges.
Not all Judges control their emotions as rigidly as Dredd.
Also here's a bit of Dredd trivia: a long time ago they goofed regarding the "reader shall now know Dredd's face" rule.
Judge Fargo, the first of the Judges was introduced in 2000AD #107, and ish #377 it was revealed that Fargo's DNA was harvested to produce clones, but that the time it wasn't yet decided by the writers that Dredd was a Fargo clone until ish #389. Thus the face of Fargo shown in flashback in #377 is not considered his real face and all depictions of Fargo ever since show him with helmet on face obscured somehow just like Dredd's.
Also a few years back there was a story where one of Dredd's clone brothers was working with Dredd as a trainee Judge but decided that he didn't like feeling like he was built on a Judge assembly line and opted to not be a judge. As part of his mustering out they altered his skin color, eyes, face and hair so that he bore no resemblance to Dredd.
Anything to keep his appearance a secret -
Quote:Which is good for two reasons imo:Helmet's awfully big, but they do seem to be going for an almost practical (and a lot more toned down) look to the Judges.
1. Not everything from comics translates well to the big screen
2. The more distance this movie puts between it and Stallone-Dredd the better. -
Quote:Well given that in the comic the helmets have things like sensors and comm systems, it's possible that the wider helmets in the movie are to accommodate having such tech in them.Is it just me, or do the helmets look wierd? They got the pattern right, but it's just too wide or something
Tech/KK
As long as he keeps the helmet on, unlike Stallone-Dredd. -

From the Wikipedia entry about the movie:
" Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner / Hulk:
A genius scientist who, because of exposure to gamma radiation, transforms into a monster when enraged or excited. Ruffalo was cast after negotiations between Marvel and Edward Norton broke down.[8] About replacing Edward Norton, Ruffalo said, "I'm a friend of Ed's, and yeah, that wasn't a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation's Hamlet." About the character he stated, "He's a guy struggling with two sides of himself—the dark and the light—and everything he does in his life is filtered through issues of control. I grew up on the Bill Bixby TV series, which I thought was a really nuanced and real human way to look at the Hulk. I like that the part has those qualities".[9] Regarding the Hulk's place on the team Ruffalo said, "He's like the teammate none of them are sure they want on their team. He's a loose cannon. It's like, 'Just throw a grenade in the middle of the group and let's hope it turns out well"![10] Ruffalo also told New York magazine that unlike previous incarnations, he will actually play the Hulk, "I'm really excited. No one's ever played the Hulk exactly, they've always done CGI. They're going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I'll actually play the Hulk. That'll be fun".[11] About his preparation for the role Ruffalo joked, "I've lost 15 pounds and I've put another five on of just strapping, pure USDA beef... They want me mean and lean, but they don't want me big and buff"
As to Loki's army, we know that in Captain America the Red Skull was presumed killed but we didn't hear any reports that Hydra was disbanded, destroyed, all captured, etc. So perhaps for years Hydra has been laying low, rebuilding their might and then comes Loki with the tesseract/Cosmic Cube and takes command of them? -
Quote:I agree. Recluse should bide his time and see what happens with Wade and maybe step in to help others take him down.SPOILER:
Because with Darren Wade running around with Statesman's powers and the knowledge of how to kill an Incarnate, it's smarter for him to keep out of the way until the current threat has been eliminated. (I'd imagine Recluse is also somewhat occupied with the events taking place in the Spring Fling event.)
But other than the fact that we know that the Freedom Phalanx isn't going away and is getting at least one new member in the near future, we don't yet know how the next two chapters of the current story arc will play out, nor what comes beyond. It is entirely likely that we'll see some new blood in both the hero and villain factions trying to take advantage of the new power vacuum.
Also Wade does state in part 5 that he is going after Sister Psyche as well, and the title of the story is WHO Will Die?...not ONE Will Die. Perhaps another vacancy is going to occur? -
Back in the first Secret War, the Human Torch fought Ultron and Cap was there to assist. The Torch ended up using his nova flame on Ultron while Cap used his shield to protect himself. Something inside Ultron over heated and he shut down, and Cap wasn't even singed.
Cap has also jumped off buildings and out of planes and positions the shield so that when he lands the shield hits the ground with him on the shield, the shield absorbs the energy of the impact and Cap does a quick tumble to his feet and retrieves his shield. -
Indeed, his shield has repelled THOR's hammer with ease in the past and withstood attacks from Zeus. Also now that the shield was rebuilt after FEAR ITSELF, it now has URU as part of it's unique alloy.
-
That reunion clip wasn't too bad, I enjoyed how Jonathan Harris easily fell back into the role of Dr. Smith and his usual insults to the robot.
RIP Richard Tufeld. -
Well if you want to talk sexist costumes and improbable/impossible anatomical artwork it gets no better or worse then Rob Liefeld. (Though the current Amazing Spiderman artists run a close second)

Quote:Cap and Wolverine have fought before, and Cap has won. Also Wolverine's claws couldn't damage Cap's shield before, and now thanks to the stupid FEAR ITSELF event that occurred recently, Cap's shield was shattered by the Asgardian called the Serpent (Odin's brother) and Tony had the dwarves of Asgard rebuild it and they mixed in some URU alloy into the shield so now it is even stronger.
Wolverine vs Cap? Wolverine. Adamantium skeleton vs someone with top human level physical strength? Cap will be lucky if he just keeps deflecting the adamantium claws with his shield.
.
Also even if this fight goes bad for the Avengers and THOR gets separated from his hammer, that's ok since Captain America can wield the hammer and its power. -
Quote:Star Trek is definitely run into the ground thanks to Berman and Braga. While the reboot movie was entertaining I don't see much hope for the future of Star Trek.Seconded. Much as I enjoyed it back in the day, I'm just tired of it now, same with Star Trek. Rather than see the same stories get repeated by a new generation (how many times will we see Batman fight the Joker for "the first time"?*), create some new stuff dammit!
Course, studios hate taking the risk with stuff that doesn't already have name recognition...
*Answer: as long as people will keep paying for it, duh!
Star Wars: unless Lucas finally decides to quit revising the classics and films them from scratch or makes ep 7 to 9 then Star Wars is also done, at least until his kids inherit the business. The EU novels kind of lost me with the Legacy series and I haven't been able to get into the Fate of the Jedi books.
As to Batman vs Joker, Joker is perhaps the most recognizable villain Batman has. though I did enjoy that they brought in Liam Neeson as Rha's Al Ghul. When the Batman movies get rebooted soon, will we get yet another Joker? Hope not as it has been done, and I don't want to hear about how the role is "cursed" because of what happened to Heath Ledger, but knowing Hollywood it will be brought up ad infinitum.
For a Batman reboot, I wouldn't mind seeing Penguin as basically the kingpin of Gotham City's crime families. Also they could bring back the Riddler and remove the blemish from that character left by Batman Forever. Perhaps Harvey Two Face Dent could actually be the sole villain for a movie and not a second string villain? Better yet, how about the Mad Hatter? -
Quote:The reason in a nutshell: the Phoenix Force is on it's way to Earth. The Avengers think it is coming to destroy Earth, and the X-men are hoping it signals the rebirth of the mutant race. There was a "Wolverine vs Spiderman" single comic released a year or 2 before the real world Berlin Wall came down. Wolverine won because he was in beserk mode and Spiderman won't kill. Spidey did give a good account of himself, but Wolvie just wouldn't stop and Spiderman doesn't fight to the death.
As for Avengers vs X-men, it depends on why they're fighting . Either side has the power, ability, and skill to win. The reason for winning could be the main factor. Basically who want's it more -
Quote:Spiderman's agility as I recall is superhuman, or perhaps Olympic Gold Medalist+++++ . Between his speed and agility and spider sense it makes sense that none of the X-men could lay a hand or energy blast on him. This is 100% accurate about the SW, but I have had a hard time swallowing it since I first read the story. He easily bested the entire team. Yes, it was fast and done quickly which gave Spidey an advantage, but he made the X-Men look like amateurs. Clearly (to me, at least) this happened because of his POPULARITY, not because it would really be that easy to beat them. I don't have the story in front of me, but wasn't it Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Prof. X? And Spidey can beat them all? I just don't think it could happen.
Nightcrawler was there and yes he is agile, but I don't recall him having superhuman agility as part of his mutant powers, only from his acrobat days at the circus.
Colossus, yeah he can be fast but again Spidey would trump him in terms of speed. In terms of strength Spidey is inferior to him.
Cyclops: optic blasts, but his speed and reaction time are again still human.
Storm: weather control but not superhuman speed or agility.
Wolverine: yeah he's good, yeah he heals, yeah he's got claws and yeah he knows how to fight, but his speed and agility are still below Spiderman unless he got an upgrade in recent years.
Professor X: a telepath: his power works at the speed of thought -
