Quote:My build isn't a farm build. It's an allround, TF and teaming build that just happens to be able to farm.First, let me say that putting builds together hasn't been my specialty, and I don't often check these parts of the forums for alot of build info, and I don't look for fotm builds, either.
I recently started rolling an elec/regen, just to try something new. Got him to lvl 16, and started to see some real potential for a good farmer, so I rerolled as an elec/shield, and it's really doing some amazing things, so I decided to take a look at anything anyone has put up about this pairing.
I like alot of of the things everyone's put up as their optimal farming builds, but, I do have a question about everyone's builds here. Before I ask, remember, I'm new to SD, so my knowledge is VERY limited. One thing that was in alot of the builds listed were both phalanx fighting and grant cover. Now the OP was looking for a solo farm build, so why include these in a solo farm build if they offer no real help for a person soloing aside from grant cover's resist defense debuff? Am I missing something here, or is there a good reason to include these that I'm just not seeing?
The reason for grant cover is actually for Defense Debuff Resists alone. The fact that it adds defense to team mates is just a nice bonus. Phalanx Fighting does give your own sorry self abit defense even while no one is around. -
I usually keep my favourites builds to myself, but I'll make an exception for this one:

Surely the original purpose is "moving RL$$$ from your account to NCSOFT account". The method (AE, new powersets, content etc) of doing so will change over time, but purpose will always be the same.

For 20B, even I might become a Fallout Sellout!

Quote:I'll add a +1 to that feeling.I'd love to see stats on what that did to the percentage of EM characters played and created. My anecdotal experience is that the set is now very rare, and no one I know creates new characters with the powerset any more. Hence, I feel they still have work to do on the powerset as a whole.

Oh, and I'm equally happy no matter if I get in or not. Why?
If I get in, I get to preview all the goodies and get that sweet relief for my curiosity.
If I don't get in, I avoid ALOT of heavy lifting, because beta is like work, but without pay, and when it launches, I get to play with the fun stuff the way I wan't to and not forced into running the same stuff over and over and over just to see if it bugs out. -
Or you can, once things go live, copy the coh folder from test to live and avoid downloading everything again.

Hah! A really expensive ad paid by one of Swedens most disliked institutions and I finally feel I got something for my monthly taxation of owning a TV.

I can only see the european version of the pre-buy, where's the US version? Or is it some stupid limitation that since I live in EU, I won't be able to buy the US version?

Basically it was his mindset that it was "his game, his vision, his rules, like it or leave it!"
At one point he said there would be no more major nerfs to the game, and shortly after he announced ED (no more 1acc/5dam slotting), which many called the biggest nerf ever. It's been debated many times if ED caused a mass exodus or no impact in player base at all.
He also made a nice post-ED state-of-the-game speech where he talked about his vision and how it was aimed at 1 hero against 3 minions = balance, and that he based that on iirc nintendo hand helds from way back. -

100k for a portable workstation temp power at BM/WW, no recharge time (so ppl can spend more often).
Rentable storage at BM/WW. 1m/enhancement or recipe space/week, 1m for 10 salvage space/week.
Purchasable sale slots in BM/WW. 100m/slot, max 10 available/toon.
Recipe conversion: Change level of a recipe, cost related to merit price. 100k/merit. -
My general rule when slotting purples (not just heca's):
If it's single target, I skip the proc and if it's an AoE I skip the DAM because AoE's usually recharge slower and benefits more of cutting a third of the recharge time than adding 5% more damage, and the proc has better chance of firing against multiple targets. -
Aww, you gave away the ebil secrets!!
j/k, awesome post. 5 stars and marketing secrets tag! -
Quote:Yes, but how long did it take for the 500m to move from them to you? If you say 500m/slot three times a day, I will be very impressed. If you say it takes 3 weeks, not so much.I was running about 500 million profit a slot. Unfortunately, I'm away from the game because of time and network issues. As I still have a few listed, I'm not blowing that niche. Then again, since I'm not online, I have no idea if it's blown. It probably isn't.
Here's the only clue I'm giving. You could pay 100 mil to get it in a few weeks, or pay 150 mil to get it now. I guess technically I'm not pulling in 500 mil per, as I'm dealing with market fees.
Flipping Salvage is nice, but there are things out there that may not move quick, but when they do...WOW.
Second clue: Don't worry, they aren't the purples your warshade needs. -
Quote:So you basically jump into a thread, discussing something that you never go near, read first post, skipping the rest and conclude that both sides of the fence are behaving irrational?I only read the first post, but will just use my powers of deductive reasoning to guess at all the rest.
With that said:
I find it odd that folks will blame marketers for essentially making a choice to place an item up for a large sum of money.

I find it odd that marketers will blame folks for essentially making a choice to buy an item for a large sum of money.
That is all.
P.S.
Or you can do what I do and completely ignore that the market even exists because I loathe game markets with every fiber of my being. You might be surprised just how much I've accumulated and slotted on my various alts simply by playing the game. And by that I mean, no farming, no marketing, not even trading among friends though I would not be opposed to that last one, it just has never come up.
Not bad... -
I'm gonna go and normalize 'thorns' now. I'll sell them cheaper than I'll buy them if necessary.
-
Quote:Not a bad assumption.
I suspect most Marketeers (including me) view the Market as a minigame, where the object is to earn Inf or get what you want from others in an indirect PvPish setting.
After hitting 50 so many times that I no longer know how many 50's I have without logging in and counting, challenging myself by running this and that TF in less than a certain time period, hunting badges, roll a specialized toon to solo an AV, optimize and pimp a non-specialized toon to solo an AV, forming a SG and make it thrive and so on and so forth, I'm currently playing the market game. 1st goal was to get a field crafter, 2nd was inf cap my fire/kin without farming, and now that I have 2B+, my next goal is to try to go 0-2B in less than 10 days. I also find a slight enjoyment in knowing that the transactions are between real ppl and not NPC's.
I used to be a buy it nao person, and marketing didn't really come easy to me, but if I can hit 2B, anyone can. That is also the reason why I lack the ability to feel sorry for the chums who don't want to understand the only thing needed to make a fortune:
Cheapest item for sale is the first to go, and it goes to the highest bidder!
I'm sorry, but if you (the ppl hating marketeers, not TopDoc) wanna hate me for making money on your impatience, I really couldn't care less. Grow some patience and steal my deals, I'm ok with that and I'll adapt and overcome.
...and no matter how interesting it might be to apply real world economics and theories here, it really doesn't work well in game. That's the reason I failed miserably in the beginning of my market endeavours. Coming from Eve-Online, I was expecting the market and interaction between players to be more advanced, but it really isn't.
