    Moving Day!

    *ex walks up*

    "JIMMY!"

*Jimmy, the new guy, thinking he's getting yelled at*

    "Whaa...!"

    *Snap*

    "Thanks for the picture, Jimmy!"

    Moving Day!

Are you sure you didn't misplace Positron with someone's crazy uncle?

    I kid, I kid.

Grats on the move all, looks like you're all happy to be there! I know I would be.

All of the bugs or QoL issues that have been lingering for what seems like forever because the programmers were too busy fixing the major bugs. All of those really big pie in the sky ideas that we've dreamed about for so long and couldn't do because there was no one who could implement them...that's all back on the table.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So this means you're re-building the game engine from scratch and making it really easy do all the things we've asked for and you've wanted to do that always ended at "the engine can't do it." right?

Well you heard it here first, BAB confirmed it

Jokes aside, I'm really stoked about this. It sounds like CoX's best days really are in the future, not in the past. How many other nearly 4 year old MMO's can claim that.
  4. Sounds awesome to me. As I said in the other thread, a lot of times during interviews or dev posts a dev would blame time/money/manpower and the lack thereof for the absence or time it takes to make new stuff or make changes/alterations/fixes, what have you. Now, that shouldn't be a problem. And with the entire original dev team on the ball, this couldn't be more awesome.

Now if the headline was "EA Acquires City of Heroes!" I'd /em slitwrist.
  5. This is fantastic news. So many times you read dev posts or interviews where they say "well we wanted to do (x) but we didn't have enough (resources, manpower, etc...). CoH is going to be awesome in the coming months.

Letting everyone play on either side, regardless of what their DVD box cover says, is pretty cool, too.
  6. Fire/Fire...no wait, ELM/ELA, no wait, EM/Fire, no wait, Fire/Fire again, no wait, EM/Inv...

man, I just can't decide. Right now I have an EM/ELA that I'm liking and a Fire/Fire. I'm loving that heal and double build-up in /Fire and hating that not-having-a-heal in /ELA. Of course, there's always aid self.

But then again I have that ELM/ELA on Justice and Lightning Rod is just so so sweet.

    Somebody save me...
  7. I'm excited about this for 2 reasons. First, it looks like wicked fun! Secondly, this is coming hot off the heels of I9, which means it's probably not gonna be too long before this goes live, which means its probably not gonna be too long before I11 comes by to clean it all up!
  8. Oh man....

    I can feel it...

    two years....two long...painful at times

    years

and my level 47 Mastermind...finally....maybe...possibly...will hit

    the coveted level 50.

My first ever character, a current level 39 scrapper is gonna be so jealous. But my Mastermind...he is so close. So my attention will be spent there. Sorry, Urobolus, This is Final Archons day!

You know, I always look at the really bad ideas in the suggestions forum and I'm NEVER one of those people that comes on and bashes the person for his bad idea. If anything, I try to offer alternatives to make it a better idea. Honestly, this is worse idea I have ever seen, and only because its so planned out....like some kind of evil plot to take over the world.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a wonderful argument for why this is a bad idea...oh wait..it's not.

There are no arguments here being put forth by anyone opposed to making buffs fair. There are just a lot of people who play buff/debuff sets who don't think what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

I know it's kind of hard to tell on teh intarwebz but I wasn't being entirely serious, nor was I attempting to come up with any kind of counter to this idea. I thought the evil genius bit would give it away. Oh well, I guess I should just follow the general rule of adding a when I'm not being serious.

  11. Interesting. Maybe the devs got sick of seeing all the Bananas/whatevers running around. I had a Spines/Dark named "The Banana Avenger."
  12. [ QUOTE ]

The only thing I can say is the mobs must be doing an aggro check of every player in range and the AI is splitting the aggro among the whole team so one player is not the main focus of the whole spawns aggression.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That doesn't seem too far fetched.
  13. I have no data or testing to back it up, but I have also been the target of undue hate on behalf of the mobs. Tanks run in, grab aggro, I do nothing, mobs turn on me and pound my face in for no reason. I think Blasters just have a big target painted on them at all times.
  14. I agree completely. They don't suck. But they don't do what they're supposed to do as well as other ATs do what they are supposed to do.
  15. My simple answer, take it how you may.

All of the other AT's are better at what they do than doms are at what they do. Hard to follow? Let me try to explain.

Corrs have crap loads of damage potential from all of their primary powers, and tons of buffs/debuffs/control in their secondary powers. the primary and secondary are perfectly complimentary to each other, and each is good on it's own.

Brutes are REALLY good at smashing things to bits. Their secondary either gives them more damage, or more protection, or more control. Usually, all three, or at least 2/3. All that revolves around helping them SMASH more.

Stalkers are REALLY good at boss killing and melee combat. Stalkers exist to kill bosses. Their secondary is completely built around them getting off a powerful single killing blow, and then instantly getting out of combat to let the other ATs do their thing. When they do get into a brawl, they can hold their own pretty well.

Masterminds are powerful, very powerful. On top of the insane damage the pets can do, and the great advantage of having 6 NPC meat shields to keep you safe, they can have awesome control, awesome utility, and great teamability. What's better to take an alpha than a single henchmen that can be easily summoned? The MM secondaries are all about control, team support and supporting your pets. These things they do very, very well.

Dominators get enough control to barely keep them safe, and a piddly, almost insignificant amount of damage output. Unless you're in Domination mode. 90 seconds out of every 5 minutes if you can somehow manage to keep your domination bar up all of the time, which is impossible since you can't aggro too much without dying, fight too much without running out of end, and at a nonstop, constant pace like that, the average newspaper mission would take less than 10 minutes to complete, leaving you possibly being in Domination twice per mish if you REALLY try. *ignore the run-on sentence!*

I love my dominator. However, I feel that with my Dominator I NEED to team, or I'm just wasting my time because I am NOT having fun. Freezing an enemy and then slowly chipping away at his health is NOT fun. Assasin Striking a +2 boss is fun. Uppercutting a lowly punk straight into the air for 4x his HP with Knockout Blow is fun. Sending a massive army of soldiers into battle and commanding their actions as they all simultaneously unload with Full Auto onto a group of enemys is fun. Fearing a massive spawn, Laying down a Tar Patch and blowing them to kingdom come with some massive firey AoE goodness is fun.

Laying down an Ice Slick on an 8 man spawn is fun. AoE freezing a big spawn of enemys is fun. But where does it get a dom. A dom can't kill several enemies before they break free and kick your butt. An Ice Slick only lasts so long. ST holds can only keep 3 enemy's held if you work for it. The whole Dominator AT is balanced around Domination, which is fine. But either they should make Domination come up more often, either through faster building, less recharge time, or both. They should also make it so Domination doesn't diminish over time.

Everyone always say's theres something wrong with Dominators. That isn't exactly true. Since Dominators are completely balanced around Domination, then that means there's a problem with Domination. Domination needs to be WAY more active, WAY more often. That is all the fixing Doms need. If we don't get that, then give us a base damage increase in our Secondary and Primary.

Being powerful into the late 30's is >>>NOT<<< balanced. Does any other AT have to put in possibly 50-70 hours of pure grinding just to start feeling like they are powerful? No. Corrs, especially Fire/Dark Corrs are absolute death machines by level 10, and only get exponetionally better as they level up. Basically any brute combo is extraordinarilly powerful right out of the box. By level 18 MMs get all 3 minions and 2 LTs. The boss is just icing on the cake. Once stalkers get AS they become 10x more useful.

"OMGZ, at l3v3l 38 y0u get ur pet and then you get S00p3r st0ng!"

Spare me. Level 38 is TOO freaking long. I have fun on my Dominator, I like my dominator, but he's on the backburner because any of my other toons are just plain MORE fun to play, with less frustration.

So, gimp. Possibly not. Domination needs to be changed for the better. So my point: Corrs, Brutes, Masterminds and Stalkers are better at Blasting and de/buffing, smashing, overwhelming, and assasinating than Doms are at control/damage.
  16. When you call thugs your character should pull out a big '80s style boom box, prop it up on his shoulder, and start rocking out to some jams. At this point Thugs would come running in with the same animation as the Tier 1 mercs and start doing /em dance.

    That would be awesome.

EDIT: Especially if it was playing a drum beat like this This

He plays pretty slow (for him) at first, but at about 3 minuties into that my head exploded because I was being rocked so hard!
  17. My questiong is........will there be a supergroup bank where we can dump our infamy/influence?
  18. Neogumbercules

    Dark Armor drone

For how long have people begged for this change? Now a bunch of new CoV players are complaining about their brutes and it's finnaly getting fixed? I guess we all know who the red-headed step child is here...

    Is it confirmed?

with ED on the way i think Statesman was no longer able to 6 slot his delaying tactics with 'soon' enhancements. now for maximum effect he can only slot 2 soons, 2 in developments and 2 we're discussing it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Haha. That was awesome. However, before I was hardcore anti-ED, now im just mainstream "don't really like it, but ill deal" ED.
