Quote:i dont think there is a hero gear kit on the NCsoft store anymore, although if i wanted to shell out the money i could just buy a collectors edition of the game from amazon or ebay or one of those sites that still sell those, im not exactly thrilled about having to pay money to get it and its partially why i been kind of just letting it go for now lol, i do wish they will eventually put this into the game in a way so anyone could get it or add it to a pack or somethingThis badge is actually from the CoH DVD collector's edition, not the CoV one. The CoV collector's edition only had an extra cape with an Arachnos logo, if memory serves.
Unfortunately, unless you stumble across a copy at your local BigLots, the only way to really get the CoH DVD code is to purchase a Hero Gear kit at Hero Con (and I'm not even sure those come with a DVD code anymore)...
as for the base raid badges, i wouldnt count those as unobtainable forever because at PAX the devs did state that they would get around to redoing base raids, CoP trial, and IoP sometime in the future. but for right now its one of those special badges of times past.
the only ones i dont consider in the list of badges are the special ones like bug hunter or passport (especially bug hunter, since you can only get that from a dev/mod) -
right now i only pick natural origin anyway because the mini powers they give you IMO are extremely useless, end-hogging attacks. natural origin also would allow me to get a dmg bonus on nem staff or blackwand depending on which i want to get, and i think the natural origin enhance stores are located more conveniently (although this is kind of moot once you hit 32)
-
i know theres other bugs with the mayhem mishs too where the hero shows up with some longbow but after you finish all them off, then you didnt complete because a huge herd of the flying longbow are flying 100 ft in the air above the bank
-
i could possibly make one, but i only play on victory so i wont be able to get money until you can just email it
-
getting the heavy badge is actually faster if you can organize with someone to kill you after you get the heavy since you can just hosp and go back to the heavy point you were just at
if you need help with the badge, im usually available on victory server (which also has a fairly low pvp count since i know a portion of them went to freedom or virtue) -
once i got the badges on my main from pvp zones, i rarely if ever go into a pvp zone, even for shivans or nukes because i dislike pvp zones and nothing in the PVE game requires shivans or nukes, they do make certain tasks easier, but i rather just save up for a vanguard heavy through regular play
when i did go to the zones for badges, i usually only went if there were poeple there that were interested in the same thing as me, or if there was nobody else there, if there were poeple there i would go in and go about my business, then the instant i was killed by a pvper i would just leave till later.
i only had 1 case where i would go into a zone and then someone would come in and stalk me, EVERY time i went in the zone for like a month straight even if there was nobody in the zone, like 5 to 10 min after i went in the same guy would go in and routinly try to fight me, while i didnt mind the occasional pvp and it was a pvp zone, it did get annoying (especially when the zone had other villain pvpers in it who wanted to fight the guy but he ignored everyone and continued to go after me), that kind of behavior is annoying, but it is a pvp zone, so i didnt get that mad, i just left the zone and stayed out of the zone for a while (a month or so) and never had issues from him again
i think if they never attached badges to the little zone events i would prolly never go into the pvp zones to begin with because i can live without the temp powers (the badges i only get on my main, 90% of my toons have never been in a pvp zone) -
my main toon is at 604 right now (hes a villain as well), and by the end of the month ill have another vet badge and the last of the day job badges
after that all i really can get is the last 3 dmg badges and any new badges
the ones im missing that are unobtainable now is the 2nd anniversary badge, master thief, vet badges, destined one (from the cov collector edition), and those special ones like bug hunter and passport -
Quote:i wouldnt worry too much about the kb, with enemies at -3, you should be able to 1 shot minions with foot stomp anyway, and with enough rage/fury then you should nearly 1 shot -3 LTs tooYeah it's kind of my line of thinking to just put the gloves on and start full farming @48 vs 50. The only negative side effect I can think of is: I forever can't set the mission to level 53 or 54. But really, will I ever want to anyway? From what I understand, the "sweet spot" from a inf/hour ratio is with level 52 mobs and not higher, even when geared nicely. I don't plan to ever duo or group in this mission.
The only wrench thrown into this, is the concern with Foot Stomp making level 47s or 48s fly back vs getting knocked down, when I farm at 50. Guess I need to test this on mobs that are -3 to me and see how much it knocks foes out of my Blazing Aura radius. -
Quote:the pentad one is supposed to break teams up because your not supposed to have 2 of the same AT on the team and they dont have a mixed faction pentad either, so it would force hero to another team tooVerified the vs pentad as well. had a Tank against a MM, was able to get the badge. I did noticed that on the initial setting the arena said there weren't enough people, but when i switched it to Last Man Standing, even though I had only 2 people it let me start the match.
Using only two people, one can get Arena Victor, Arena Survivalist, Pentad Victor (this one is prolly bugged), and Arena Dualist. Swiss Draw/Tournament Victor didn't allow me to start it with 2 people, I tried. heh
i think its all working as intended because some of the settings dont work with all the special match types and yes, swiss draw requires 8 poeple minimum to start -
Quote:poeple already do that with regular farms which can get just as much xp per min as an AE farm thats non-exploitative
...or you just reset the map once you hit the ticket cap. Same thing for XP.
therefor its not really hurting anything to put a limit on how much you can earn per map if just resetting the map is all it takes (essentially EXACTLY what poeple do with regular farms, except they dont complete the normal farm, just reset at the end) -
Quote:1000 might be a bit much, but i mean 1 lvl 50 with all the +inventory things (market badges and vanguard storage sack) can fill 3.5 salvage racks right now by themselvesImagine the market if you could store 1000 pieces in one rack. It would be completely void of salvage.
if the limit was increased to at least 80-150, then it wouldnt be as bad as 1000 (or before when it was unlimited) or as bad as 30 (where you can hardly hold anything) -
Quote:well the ticket cap is really annoying, 1500 per map on a map that has enough baddies in it that could get double or triple that prior to the ticket cap severely cuts down on the tickets (takes 2 runs to get a gold roll, which is way too annoying to try to find the exact right size map with the exact number of enemies as to cap your tickets right at the end every time)
No. It wouldn't. It would just be a very minor annoyance to people who want to farm. Minor being the keyword here.
putting an xp cap like ticket cap could limit people to 5-10 bars of xp per map, so even on the most efficient non-exploitative farm, the most you could get is 1 lvl (and even with an exploit you would hit the xp cap VERY early)
the only thing i see them having a hard time limiting would be inf since inf gain scales with lvl -
-
my main is a ninja/dark and its pretty awesome, since you get the 2nd pet which can stack holds with the oni and all the -tohit of dark complements your ninjas base defense (although nto a lot, its still helps with the -tohit working with it)
-
on my ninja mm, i have a set of soulbound allegience (with the chance for BU proc) on the jounin
i mostly used the genin as IO mules to hold some of the pet uniques (+res and +def auras)
i dont remember what i slotted with on oni -
pentad is easy, its just 1 round, and can be done with 1 other person (as long as they are the same AT as yourself)
now the swiss draw is the only one that requires 8 people and is 3 rounds long (and its very annoyingly complex) -
Quote:i think hard xp cap per day is a bit much, but if they did a xp/inf cap per mish like tickets cap per mish, then it would definitly even the playing field in AE a lot moreYou guys really think an XP hard cap would fix AE. Really.
Weren't you around for the Ticket Cap "fix"? It was just a mild annoyance towards farmers and exploiters. Diminishing returns on repetition of an arc/mission, XP Cap per day, and all the derivatives of this "solution" simply would not work. It's called point-of-efficiency; and that's the only thing farmers are -really- good at finding.
As I stated previously, the only thing that would "fix" the problems with AE is something along the lines of just stripping XP and rewards from non-developer-approved stories. And as we all may expect, this would simply mean that AE will turn into a ghost-town -- worse than now.
Unless...
The developers actually put some effort into picking out stories and promoting the good ones. Maybe even hire volunteer players with the sole purpose of playing arcs and rating them based on their standards. But this really only sounds good in theory... -
Quote:their best solution to stop exploit farming in AE is to implement a cap per map of xp/inf/ect like they did with ticketsPerhaps an exp cap in AE is what the devs were thinking about to stop AE farmers? Get so much exp then have to wait a day or so to start earning more? It could work... as long as the caps not too high.
Sounds like a great idea to me, better than the original idea of removing exp in all honesty. If thats implemented I would go as far to say problem solved... if its not a stupidly high cap.
do i like that solution? no, i hated the ticket cap on maps (still do actually), but thats possibly the easiest solution to implement and it would be very hard to get around it (so far there havent been any exploits with getting around the ticket cap as far as per map ticket cap)
with that solution any exploit that does show itself will essentially be pointless if you hit the mish xp cap in 1-2 kills, then you basically have to reset
even "efficient" AE farms (efficient as in they grant normal rewards and take a normal effort) will be hit the most, the per map xp cap most likely wouldnt affect any of the normal story mishs and not affect poeple who are using the system as intended, but still grant the devs the ability to say that AE is an "alternate leveling path"
if this type of fix was implemented, then even buff bot farms wouldnt be very efficient since most farms would have WAY more enemies than the xp/inf cap of the map would be allowed
the only hard portion of instituting an xp/inf cap on each map would be that it would have to scale with lvl (easy way to limit xp would be limiting how many bars of xp a person could get, while i have no idea what they could do for an inf cap) -
i dont think AE is the worst thing, and its definitly not the first big exploit
as far as i remember, the cathedral of pain trial exploit allowed poeple to lvl just as fast as in the AE exploits, then theres thart one exploit that was around a long time ago that allowed a PB to put unlimited enhance slots on a single power and 2 shot hamidon
i dont think the AE failed, but i know it still has its issues, they did cover some obvious exploits early on before it was released by making allies suck rewards so you didnt get a horde of AV allies to do the work for you
i agree that custom power selection was a little touchy, but they should have done it differently, so instead of being able to give allies 0 powers (which is what the "civilian/person" custom critter selection was for) they should have forced the custom critters to have at least 1 power in both primary and secondary set)
i overall enjoy AE, i personally when bored, use one of the extremely small casino maps, set 2 boss spawns, 1 ally 1 enemy, and in test mode just sit back unkillable/unaggroable and watch the AVs fight each other to see who wins (like LR vs states, BABs vs states, mako vs manti, ect ect), which is very entertaining to watch a few fights when your really bored
the AE is another option for poeple to play with, if you dont enjoy it find something else to do in the game, theres literally hundreds of things you could do (fully IO toons, run tfs in odd ways (speed, normal, small team, ect), collect badges, run a supergroup, hold events on your server, ect), plenty more things to do than just troll the forums when some little nerf happens because poeple were abusing the system, i have faith in the devs that they are doing whats in the players best interest while it may not always seem so. -
Quote:i agree that there is a lot of garbage in the AE (thats why i hardly use it), prolly 2/3 of the arcs listed are invalidated because of nerfs, fixes, changes, ectNote that I'm not fully equating farmers and exploiters, however i have yet to see an exploit arc that isn't also a farm. And one of the biggest issues with AE is the pages of garbage farm arcs that prevents any "real" story arcs from being found. But mweh.
IMO, it would just be better if invalidated arcs were automatically removed (unless it was dev choice), would prolly clear up ALOT of the trash sitting around -
gratz on being on victory for 1 year, im coming up my 4th year (my vg is about as old as my account, so that will be 4 years about 1 month after my vet badge)
-
while i agree the AE needs to have its holes patched up, i think they kind of knee-jerked a fix because they are currently testing i17, why not just add this to i17 first and put it through alongside i17?, as many others have said, the little exploit has been around since we could select custom powers for custom critters (which was at least i16 if not before)
on another point of view, this did hurt the AE community because while your mishs will still be playable, the amount of poeple actually wanting to play a mish with 80% reduced xp/inf/prestige (or more) is very small, i honestly dont like playing mishs with more than 25% reduced xp/inf/prestige
if your more story oriented and dont care about rewards as much, then more power to you, and this blanket fix wont affect you -
i usually drop mishs because i dont feel like doing it at the time
the most common mish i drop is the first instanced mish in the tutorial zone, i hate sitting through 2 loading screens (loading into the mish and loading back to breakout/outbreak) for a 2 min long mish that you get 0 xp in until you finish the mish, i just as rather save the time, skip it, and just load into the actual game -
Quote:fast recharging self rezzes also help (or if your all the same faction using toons with a rez power, temporarily team with the person, rez them, then quit team)The fastest way to do it is to get a few friends and kill each other. The rep timer resets every 5 minutes I believe, so 3 friends should do it.
Friend 1 kills 2, 3 and 4
Friend 2 kills 1, 3 and 4
Friend 3 kills 1, 2 and 4
Friend 4 kills 1, 2 and 3
At this point the 5-minute timer should be over and you can start the loop again, without anyone having to log off and back on. Make sure everybody has a ton of wakies so you can rez in the spot, otherwise travel will be an annoyance. -
Quote:agreed with this, his thread stated that this was just a blanket fix until they could fine tune it (and they stated it would come with i17 or very soon after)But they haven't. Or at least they haven't said they were. In fact, they seem to entirely be implying that this is a temporary fix and they are working on a better solution.
I think deleting everything prematurely is... Well, premature.
Did you see Dr. Aeon's thread?
i left my story arc alone for now (honestly im tired of advertising it and its only gotten 4 ratings in the past 5 months since i redid it and all of them were people who played it with me)
other arcs i have i tweaked a little so that they would actually be some use if i needed tickets
