    YES, because I would have a small chance that it will mez.

    This also means your mag 4 attack against something that has no mez pro will hit 95% of the time.

    Well, not really. The devs did that by implementing more damage with limited mez.

    OK, so here's the implication in case you didn't get it. Mez will always have a CHANCE to work. The chance is based off of protection values + amount of mez on the toon. If anything, it is a step towards the older mez style except in that case, get positive mez on somebody and they are 100% mezzed. Here, it is 95%. But less mag mez below the positive is not trivial were in that case it was 0% effective.

    So weak mez attacks, although having a small chance to mez, actually might be worth using.

    Moreover, there is worth to stacking mez again since it will boost your chance of success. Not only by spamming attacks to force more mez rolls, but by stacking mez which will boost the chance any one mez attack will have.

    Well here is another.

    Change the mez mechanic from resistance based back to mag based. Now add a chance to mez depending on the total mez protection a toon has at any one time. Rather than give the whole details of the excel sheet I made, I basically arbitrarily chosen what I thought were reasonable chances to mez given the current mez protection (after the application of a mez power) a toon has. By current, I am allowing for mez attacks to stack and further reduce mez pro to increase chance to mez.

    For example, -11 (in my book) represents a tank being hit by a very weak mez attack (mag 2). I give the chance to mez here a 5% (the absolutely lowest chance and adhering to the rule that there are no 'to hit' rolls below 5%).

    Now I need to represent the very highest chance to mez. I chose a mag of 3 protection. To me, this is base mag pro (-1) that has been debuffed (+2) and hit with a mag 2 attack. Here I attach a 95% probability of mez (again, no chance greater than 95%).

    Now filling the stuff in between. Mag -3 pro (base + acro) hit with a mag 2 attack (total -1) gets only a 50% of being mezzed. And finally, mag -1 hit with a mag 2 (total 1)attack has a 75% to mez.

    I then did an exponential fitting and determined chance to mez for all values of protection. Now, I've chosen some pretty arbitrary values, as well as what fitting to use, but the point is:

    Let's turn mez into an attack that has a chance of success depending on the amount of protection the target has at any one time.

    Who knows on what server(s) or when I'll show up to get this thing going, but I'm planning on proving 10K influence to (at least some) characters under level 14 so that they can by a Raptor Pack in the Shadow Shard.

    I'll be using the [Help] Channel to recruit characters with Recall Friend and to announce that we are in place and ready to go!

    If anyone is up for helping out with this in any manner, go for it.
    I don't want to take the glory from the honorable Taxi-bot continents, but I wanted to at least bring this up!

    There's nothing like hitting the skies at level 1 with a brand spanking new Raptor Pack full of fuel.

    Of course, I don't want to discourage any "naked noob"/level 1 races to Peregrine Island. Rewarding all participants with a "Raptor Pack" seems a great reward for cheap!

    (reposting this info from elsewhere, but it seems a good place to post it and I don't know how to do good links to other specific post using this new system yet - bah!)

    (btw, you crafty villains could always go to Grandville at level 1 and get Raptor Packs for 10k - well, as soon as there were Raptor Pack vendors at least - as there was never a hazard gate on Grandville.
    Also heroes and villains could both get raptor packs before level 10 (I think as early as level 5) by successfully completing an Atlas Park bank/newspaper safeguard/mayhem mission.
    And there is that little known - pay as you go - flight pack booster that you can strait out buy and use at level 1 - not that I think that this is worth paying real dollars for.)
    Devs, read this thread. Make the change. We will all love you for it.

  9. So, saw that I16 has been released today. Too bad, I'm at work. Anyways, also saw that there is a new mid's (thank you Stoney BTW).

    Going through mid's checking stuff and noticed that the actual travel power (super jump for example) is available one tier earlier.

    IS THIS TRUE????!?

    Also, have a crazy idea about group fly and mercs/therm. Good or bad? Of course with assault/tactics. Just a little bothered with MM mobility and looking for new ways to get around.

    Well if going for something different, sure rad/em. But if you really want to be far away and snipe, Psi is the best. As far as -def goes, there's nothing vill side that the blaster can't hit through with regularity (save doms in pff, but that's rare these days).

    I'm thinking that a close range rad/em might be interesting.

    Well, I should say teamed zone. A stalker is not going to stick around that long. He will be easy prey for the blasters. A corr might be OK if they can kite a bit. But, since your teamed, and the teams usually calls opponents, they are either gonna be dead in a few, phase or HB. For a stalker, they probably will either turn and run, phase or HB.

    Average zone skirmish time is 8-10s at the most. Unless you fiteklub, but the police will come and take you away for that.

    That's too bad. I've gotten my best IO from a team in pvp (+def +res tp).

    In the hero case, I shouldn't say team, more like a collection. If a controller lays down a patch, heroes tend to wind up there since it is more safe (in front of villain base for example). The result is more heroes laying down patches, or having there PBAoEs on, rains etc.

    For stalkers, whether they are officially teamed or not, seem to operate on some coordinated level. For example, one stalkers runs forth to AS a target. They others see this and join in.

  19. I had SM with my /EA as well. However, it didn't perform like I hoped. Don't get me wrong, it does help. Before, demonic + SM + Overload = not gonna hit me. Now, and I tried the very same thing, it equals gonna be hit 30-40% of the time.

    I have a spines/wp and debated sharks versus SM. After all, soul's dark blast is nice too, and it's hold is awesome as well. However, you can't beat sharks damage especially from hide. That's why lead with sharks (if zone pop is low).

    If you sj behind terrain and activate sharks before you fall, especially if you are base-side of the opponent, you can get 2 'free' shark crit attacks. After the initial attack, he'll want to base-run (more times the naught) which lines you up for an impale or placate and shark #2. Sometimes the impale is better after shark #1 since it can tell you if he phased or not (or if your ears are keen you can listen for the tell-tale phase sound).

    I dont think I ever said stalkers were OP'd in general because the fact is, solo, they are laughable. On a team or following around a team in RV, they shine... nothing like pounding on a Brute only to drop to ground after an AS hit you in the AS + S... :P

    The OP was made out of frustration dealing with two stalkers hiding and sharking me in RV.

    One would crit their shark, i would jump away when i could, then another one would hit... by this time the other one was hidden again hitting me with a ranged crit from sharks again...

    All my post was saying is i think its a little OP'd with the crit considering its a PPP... I am not sure because i dont play them really, but i dont think a scrapper has anything for the mastery pool that can drop a corruptor to half health.
    I hope one wasn't me, but what you described sounds like it. Lately, been practicing dissecting hero huddles with a jumping shark attack against one of the foes. The attack is timed so that you fall behind terrain when it activates. The net result is a big glob of damage from seemingly nowhere. If the target runs (best case), you can chase and when hide is back up (thank you 8 sec timer), you can crit again doing even more damage. Since I'm spines, I can throw in a little more -movement. When stalkers see other stalkers attack targets, they have a tendency to focus fire, so... moar sharks.

    The counter is easy, a hovering blaster can target the stalker and keep him out of hide and out of your hair. An emp can keep ya well healed. And finally, have that tanker taunt.
