    Snaptooth Solo?

I have solo'd him on both my PB and WS. For both I use Squidform. My attack chain always runs cone-AoE-big blast-little blast, then spam the two single target blasts, little-little-big until the cone or AoE is up again, manouever to get remaining minions in range then cone-AoE to finish the minions.

Stay near the roof, move loads to stay out of his melee range and have a green insp handy in case you get stuck and he hits.

The biggest problem I have is if he runs away too soon because fighting him in the corridor is hellish in squidform as it's flying is too bouncy and I'm not quick enough.

Snaptooth is no problem, more problems are met with the Void Stalker who invariably sits in the corridor leading to his lair who takes up your last couple of useful insps after the Void in the big room standing next to the Winter Lord who meets you there. Even worse in a team of 8 when there's a White Dwarf sat in Snaptooth's corridor.
  2. ....When the team leader decides on a hunt mission and charges a gang of eleven +4 warriors with a team of 3 and says "PB's are powerful enough yeah?"

... erm no, PB's just aren't stupid enough mate.
  3. Hey FG, congratulations, I know how frustrating it can be - took me 23 months for 50. I wasn't there, but followed your exploits on the Forumites channel. Happy for you, well done!

    Finally!

    Thank you one and all.

And thanks also to the many people along the way who have helped with advice, teams, encouragement and generally providing the fun and frolics this game and community is all about.

Proximity - we've probably not teamed recently as I have moved to New Zealand from the UK. My play times are more random and late nights/early mornings are the norm for me these days, butr nice to see you remebered, thank you.

A special thanks goes to General Bod, without whom I doubt Ennil would have made it out of the 20's, never mind all the way to 50. A stalwart friend and companion for many many long frustrating grinds.
  5. I doubt it'd be much use as a /regen BUT....

It's an attack. It damages the bad guys, it knocks their accuracy, it heals you, it recharges quick enough to fit into an attack chain every other run through for my dark/ scrapper. What's not to like?

OK, it has a long animation, although it looks quite nice and it's not a great heal. At level 50 with 3 heal SO's it comes up with about 290 hp heal (nearly 1/4 health) and damages less than Smite. As a dark/inv it kept me going quite well. As you're a /regen, it perhaps won't as you have the two good heals as well as your toggles and auto stuff.

Touch of Fear has a longish animation and it takes 2 or 3 applications to affect bosses. It always fears minions, it mostly fears lieutenants. It recharges reasonably quickly and seems to be inherently quite accurate. The mezzed bad guy still gets occasional hits back at you with it but on the whole he stays and takes your punishments.

As a /regen I would go with ToF and leave SL unless you find there's one of those levels where you just don't want to pick anything else. If you do decide to go with it, slot it two accuracy, three heals and an end reducer.

    Finally!

With the last five minutes to go before the Death Badger 500, Ennil Pwysau was busy battling Rularuu in Fire Base Zulu, and giving a running commentary on the Forumites channel.

A last ambush by a Nemesis Patrol, then a quick dark blast to draw a Bull Natterling, defeated and then...

    DING!

I started playing CoH on the US servers on a dial up connection with no graphics card in late December 2004. I made one US character and then decided to wait for the UK version to come out, so though I played occasionally, I didn't start full-time until 5th Feb 05. Ennil Pwysau was my second EU character and the only female toon to survive a mass deletion after I was pestered once too often. There have been times I have been near to deleting her in a fit of rage as /Invulnerability was hit by the nerf bat too many times.

Finally, though I have a level 50 toon after 23 months of frustration. I solo'd most of the 40's and will freely admit to becoming a bit obsessed from about level 47 onwards. I did 48 and 49 in two days. Solo. (Apart from 2 missions)

I of course made the obligatory Peacebringer and hated it from the outset as I'd messed the cossie up no end. Deleted. Remade and now just need tweaking when I get a few I8 cossie tokens.

So grats to me. I got a 50 and am no longer one of the elite n00b5 of CoX!
  7. And, finally, after 23 months of play (including US time), my third ever character, Ennil Pwysau, has finally hit 50 on Defiant. My first ever 50!

Ennil Pwysau, Science Scrapper, Dark Melee, Invulnerability, Dark Mastery.

    Any SGs around?

This would be better in the Defiant Heroes forum.

I am also somewhat surprised you haven't been invited by any number of SG's. Even my 48 scrapper gets blind invited to SG's just passing through Atlas and Galaxy. Hell, any zone really. There's often SG's spamming for members in the newbie areas, be patient and if you can't find teams, just start one yourself, the search tool is quite good and low level toons are most-times happy to team through the first few levels. At level 5 you'll also be sent to the Hollows. Try and avoid teams there at peak times, it's a prime teaming spot especially for newer players who don't yet realise that it's not compulsary to do the story arc there.
  10. A good DM/Regen?

    Erm...

Wouldn't it be all your primaries except taunt and possibly siphon life and dark consumption and all your secondaries? the first three DM attacks give a decent enough attack chain, though I always add Air Sup in there pre 14 for fly. Touch of Fear is an excellent control/attack.Soul Drain is a nice buff with a reasonable recharge if you're fighting large mobs. Midnight Grasp is a must at later levels to give a really high damage output with your other attacks in your chain. It also holds, so very nicce little power. Siphon Life and Dark Consumption are possibly replaced by regen powers, especially if you take the fitness pool too.

My personal opinion is that for PvE you're going to struggle for a bad build.
  11. PvE, Fly is perfectly acceptable as a travel power, slower but safer and easier to run away with in outdoor combat IMHO. SS has too many vertical challenges for ease of use, and using hover to get over large obsticles is so slow you might as well be flying as using SS due to the loss of speed there. Drop three slots into fly, one for end reduction and two for speed at SO levels and it's an excellent travel power. As a blaster, there's also probably no need to have the end reduction there as you won't be running toggles as does a scrapper or tanker, so you can probably just three slot for speed and stamina will look after the endurance drain. As a preliminary power from the flight pool, take Air Superiority too - even on a blaster it's still an excellent power for the knockdown, allowing blasts to recharge and the blaster close enough to use AS to get back at range while the bad guy climbs to his feet again.

Of course, when it comes down to it, a travel power is best chosen for what you are comfortable using and any build advice is based on people's own play styles and personal peferences, which may be very different from your own. A good example being the choice between Bitter Freeze Ray and the lower version. I prefer the higher level version and am happy with the animation. The reason is that I have build-up on auto-fire and with BU, the damage on BFR is quite respectable and the hold excellent. Freeze Ray is also good but when I had the two side by side, I just preferred the Bitter version. My own preference and obviously not Max's or Chillblaze's.
  12. Shadow Punch, Smite and Shadow Maul makes an excellent attack chain and Shadow Punch recharges fast enough to replace brawl in early attack chains.

Later on you get Siphon Life, an attack that damages the bad guy, debuffs his accuracy and heals you. What's not to like about that?

Regen keeps your stamina going well enough even without the fitness pool until you can comfortably fit it in.

I would recommend Air Superiority to fill out the attack chain. AS is fantastic to overcome the long animation in Shadow Maul while the bad guy is flat on his back too.

All in all, an excellent choice for primary and secondary. Good luck with your scrapper.

Fly sucks anyways, only reason to take it for scrapper would be AS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're wrong there Max. Fly is the easiest and best travel power for a lot of people. I have pretty much used them all through my 18 months of altitis and keep coming back to fly. It might be pretty slow compared to some, but it has advantages when you find you're able to travel without stress and reach every place you want easily. It is especially useful in the 40's in the Shadow Shard. At lower levels it makes running mission in some hazard zones actually doable because of it's three dimensional style and the ability to avoid unnecessary dangers. It's also a bit of a must for some badge collecting. Despite it not being popular, it is also very useful in PvP with Follow on when an enemy is jinking around trying to run away from your scrapper.

    Accuracy

    [ QUOTE ]
I dont think its a problem... the problem (so far i see) is that u should rely ONLY in acc, rech, redend in the TO's enhancements range...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only ever slot what drops, and never buy TO's. So, if I were to get 3 Accuracy TO drops and had 3 slots in a power, then that's how the power would be slotted. Everything not immediately useful gets sold straight away, and STILL at level 12 I am lucky to be able to afford more than three DO's.

    Accuracy

    [ QUOTE ]
Psionic assault does not suffer from low accuracy. Which assault have you played before?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye, I thought so - it's just a perception thing.

I have never played a Dominator before, but am fair enjoying this one so far - I'd try Plants/Thorns apart from the spines thing. I am probably just frustrated at the first ten levels again - only 2 more to go til DO's. I am sure life will be come fun again then.
  16. Naz_Nomad

    Accuracy

I always suggest concentrating on accuracy more anyway - Fury takes the place of damage enhancements to some extent.
  17. Naz_Nomad

    Accuracy

I have just started a Mind/Psi Dominator, Psi Hawk. I have never gotten on with controller, but the Dominator seems to offer something that controllers don't with their offensive secondaries.

and yes, despite everyone saying how awful they are, I took the first AoE Sleep. Don't shout, try it when the stalkers have AS'd to allow them to get out of the middle of the bad guys, it works well.

A question for those experienced with the /psi secondary though. I am having issues with accuracy. OK, Psi is only level 10 with a single TO accuracy ehancement, but it really does seem to me that the accuracy on Psionics is slightly less than good. From someone with serious Altitis, I am fairly used to what to expect up to level 20, and it really does seem to me that Psionics sucks for accuracy.

I constantly feel that other corruptors outdamage me (especially at mayhem missions when there's alot of armor suit enemies around

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't seem to matter which powerset I ever use, every other corruptor and blaster seems to out-damage me, even when I copy their build! It's a perception thing, that and reading the forum boasts about one-shotting boss's etc.

If you're happy with AR as a primary, stick with it. The 30's are often seen as a bit of a grind, but I enjoy them until the end when the 40's come into sight again and you never level fast enough when the next decade is due.

Though I have never played AR myself, I have teamed with loads, and full auto really rocks. Stick with your character, level him all the way and best of all, have fun with him. Don't worry about PvP - only one of my characters has ever done well in the PvP zones, but all have had great fun win or lose. I recommend Sirens Call if you're going into any, on Defiant at least there seems a more mature bunch of PvPers there than the other zones.

Just have fun, you're a corruptor. Shoot stuff, it's what you do best.

Why not think of something original rather then plagiarise an existing ideas from the DC universe?

    [/ QUOTE ]

And why not follow your favourites?

[/ QUOTE ]Because it's against the EULA.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes and no... It's ok to be inspired by your favourite comic book heroes. It's ok to approximate them. It's actually against the EULA to reproduce them in breach of copyright.

If the OP wants to create a SG based loosely on something seen in a comicbook, then he is free to do so. To make a SG where toons are forced to try to exactly copy comic character costumes, and powers, battle cries and so on are forced to be exact replicas of said comic character, then he would be in breach of the EULA.
