Quote:Fair enough. I'm just largely curious as to how Elec will work on a team.Okay, would we? Yes. We've taken on Fire/Kins, and even blasters and tanks (for the ITF 2 weeks ago) before.
HOWEVER, if it came down to a choice between you or picking up another Fire/Rad with a full team situation, we go with the Fire/Rad.
EDIT: Actually, a team of controllers would be the LAST place to test that. I just want in on the epic. :P -
I only ended up needing to reset my resolution and texture quality.

Being offensive is in my nature.
... on my Brute. >_>
But to answer, yes. I play a Dark Melee/Dark Armor brute, where the defenses from my armor are sub-par compared to other sets (save for Fire, maybe). My philosophy on tanking with him consists of using Darkest Night and my inherent -ToHit debuffs to cause the enemies to miss more, putting less stress on my armors and allowing me to keep my fists flying.
The key phrase: They can't kill you if they can't survive you. -
Quote:There's a lot of variables to that. Do the mobs have -Defense? Any sort of debuffs? Do they have lots of hard-hitting attacks? How much damage do they have? This is strange then. Unless youre fully io'd and not relying on cooldowns I dont see how you would know what im talking about. If your just tanking 1 group at a time you prolly wont see a difference. I havent run into any lvl 38 brutes who could keep up on the farms i run, cause whos gonna slot expensive sets pre 50 anyways. All I know is I was tanking 3+ groups yestarday +3 even +4 with no cooldowns. maybe a small purp and orange here and there. And today me and 2 other decked out brutes saw a dramatic change. Really a fully io'd stoner was going down with 4 bosses on him.
And for the record, yeah, I'm IO'd out on my 38. I occasionally have to pop Dull Pain after a little while, but I'm not have any serious problems. The only time I ever need Unstoppable is for the recovery boost. I'm tanking two +2/x6 groups at once. I run through one, park in another, pop a purple of various size, and wait for the deflected hits to build my fury. Then I drop Lightning Rod, T-Strike, Chain Shock, and then whittle them down as normal, healing if I need to. I also, just for the fun of it, took my 41 Stone/NRG tanker in to the same farm as my Elec/Invul brute and pulled 3 groups. No problems... just sat there with Granite and Rooted, ticking away with mud pots. -
Quote:Can you go over into the thread where the people are crying doom and post this? This is a wonderful post.I really really wondered WTH after playing this class in GR. It's the Brute I've been trying to build so to speak. For the longest time I have played brutes and mulling over ..more Def...or more Offense...because well...we don't have tanks.
So I made a Mace/Elec Tank and I had a great time in GR with my final group last night. They allowed me to tank in the mmo typical terms of a tank. I was just in heaven with it. So much more better than my Mace/Shield brute in terms of tanking.
You heroes got it good with this one...im glad I finally can bring this over to Villains and do the job I have been wanting to do for a while. Tank tons of mobs and laugh at them.
The only draw back is I had one attack till I turned 16 =p. As my party laughed at me..but it was all good. I still had Taunt, Sands of Mu, one mace attack to work with..Finally got jaw breaker. I never plan on soloing so this is just perfect team player I have. Truly a tank of my other mmo...can hold agro ..but kills slower than a slug race. That's fine =)
So to those who never rolled tanker before like me....this class is great. I really love how well it holds agro. I love elec def primary....
So just thought I share my thoughts...and to the rest of you tankers out there...you all are wonderful class...so glad Villains can have them now. -

Just got back from doing the same thing I mentioned earlier. No problems at all, man. I looked at the recent training room patch notes, and the only ones mention a fix to the tip system and various other bugs. No nerfs, no AE stuff. Besides, the patch today was like, what... 250k? Couldn't have been an AT modification.

+2/x6 and two at a time, actually. By myself.
Invincibility and the occasional popped purple inspiration are very nice utilities to have. No need to be so snarky, by the way. I'm just telling you I'm not experiencing any 'weakness' or change in my character's performance. -

Manga, I went through the v4 of your mac guide and did everything in it. Literally. Lemme just say...
THANK YOU! The methods you posted awarded me an extra 10FPS and I haven't crashed yet!
... can I hug you? -
Quote:Allow me to rephrase my post, actually; stalkers have very low HP and, should their defenses get bypassed, they are easy to cut down. The repel aura would be good for emergency situations where the stalker loses his defenses and, to save his own tail, runs around and flings people everywhere until he's back in the saddle. That's a myth, my friend.
I can think of one way dying faster... getting drained of all of your endurance with that toggle on!
Also with the recent change to how offensive auras work on Stalkers, I've seen a lot of people talking about an 'Assassin's Repulsion'; essentially, run the Repel aura from EnA and pull an Assassin's Strike on the boss. Rather than the boss' group turning and trying to kill you, the whole cluster is shot in every which direction. Not a bad idea, if you ask me. -

They may have made your AE farm harder to... prevent you from farming.

Quote:Sounds right. This is my first post in two years. I never post here, because if you are not in the click you just get shouted down.
Gasp.
Quote:I liked Brutes because they were one of the few AT's in the game that felt "superheroish" because, lets face it... most AT's in this game are underpowered and horrible especially at low levels and especially if you have to solo them up because the population of this game is so very low (aside from the expansion ebb and flow).
Quote:I could actually solo to 50 in a reasonable amount of time... without pissing away a very unreasonable amount of my life online. If you have to play 10 hours a day for a month or two just to level one character you are SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME playing a video game.
Quote:The brute I am leveling now moves less than half as fast on the experience bar. I cannot max my fury bar even when I am taking on enough mobs to pound me into the dust. I die way more easily... so really now I am forced to take all my IO's off my Brutes and move them to Scrapper or Tank.
Quote:Really now a well built scrapper can tank as well a brute and do almost twice the damage, so how is that balance? I am sure the scrappers are happy but how exactly is that balance?
Quote:Tankers are still so poor that playing them is like watching paint dry on a wall, but again who benefits from that? Really do we make a class that boring and low damaging for the "benefit of the game". No we make it that way because a very small minority of opinions have a stranglehold over this community.
Quote:Do you notice that except for this new expansion NOBODY PLAYS THIS GAME! And in a few months it will be a ghost town again. Yet the same people are applauding how well the developers "balance". Are you kidding me? This is the very worst balanced MMO of them all, by a substantial margin.
Quote:The only reason I play this game is because you can create your own unique character. I love being able to be unique and not look like all the other characters who go to X dungeon and get the pink breastplate of uber shiny. But that's it, that's the only reason to play CoX because aside from being able to customize your character and create a unique identity. This is a terrible game as far as balance and playability for at least 60% of the power/class combo's.
Quote:Brutes were one of the things "not horrid" about City of Heroes and here you all sit celebrating their descent into "horrid". I cannot explain your acceptance of the )$@*# you are being forced to swallow. Do you all have Stockholm syndrome or are your noses just so brown you can't smell the stink?
Quote:I will go back to the shadows, and in a few weeks when I am tired of the emperors new clothes my subscription will be canceled again, just like so many others.
Quote:Meanwhile you can pat yourselves on the back and be satisfied that all the "whiners" are silenced.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out. -
Quote:Tanker. Tanker! Tanker!
- Due to Brute incompatibility, Tankers are now the worse support AT and the worse DPS AT with only survivability as a selling point.
Tank! Er! One who tanks! Of course survivability is the selling point! Do you think I rolled up my Stone/NRG or my Invul/Ice to do jaw-dropping damage? Of course not, I rolled them so at 41+ I could walk up to AV's and drop kick them in the junk knowing full well they couldn't kill me without some major exertion. -
Quote:Maybe I'm missing something here, but how are you using Power Siphon AND Rage?Actually, I pretty much ignored PS on my brute. I found Rage worked great for 90% of everything, and PS was pretty much only used on Archvillians where I needed the extra damage. Everything else went down pretty fast with just Rage and maybe a red.
Honestly, I would like to have spike damage, maybe make PS the same as Fulcrum Shift (just have the values adjusted for the BRUTE archtype) or put in build-up. If they ever want this set to make a showing in PvP, then it would definitely need a build-up for the spike damage. -
Based on this thread I've decided to roll a Kin/EnA brute.

Just an interesting note:
I do Cmd-Shift-4 to get regional screenies all the time in-game. The only issue is that the resulting screenshot has terrible gamma, and usually requires photoshop level balancing to make it pretty/normal looking. -

Here's a question for you guys.
Would you accept an Elec/Rad controller as a part of this team?
