Brutes and offensive

Now I have always built my Brute to be able to tank and find some balance with melee due to the fact teams just need a solid guy to taunt and hold mobs. I have never made a Brute purely for destruction only.

So is it safe now to make a Brute (respec one that is) totally focused on Offensive.. sorta like a Scrapper with Fury I guess.

I can see it being pretty good with a Tank in the teams...tank tanking..brute destroying. They would work well together...So far in GR it has been working out that way as I tried my very first Tanker built towards one purpose..holding a lot of agro with a grin.

The Brute I was with was having a punch festival as I held the agro...it was great to see the Brute being Brutal. =p

anyway...i know this hasn't stopped others from making a Brute offensive focused before...just I think I am comfortable now in going this route. Are fully offensive focused Brutes pretty darn good in the face smash department? My guess is Yes...but I like to know how you all feel on this.

Being offensive is in my nature.

... on my Brute. >_>

But to answer, yes. I play a Dark Melee/Dark Armor brute, where the defenses from my armor are sub-par compared to other sets (save for Fire, maybe). My philosophy on tanking with him consists of using Darkest Night and my inherent -ToHit debuffs to cause the enemies to miss more, putting less stress on my armors and allowing me to keep my fists flying.

The key phrase: They can't kill you if they can't survive you.

My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."

Very cool. Ok I may just do it...and see how groups take to my brute. I probably should put a note in saying "Brute built on Offensive" so they know..I am not your herding Brute.

Since he is Mace/Shield I will have to fidget with a respec a bit. Can't wait to try it.

With that combo you should be okay for herding if you slot correctly, take Phalanx Fighting and Combat Jumping, and get the +3% global defense buff IO. And offensive would be great! Shield Charge, Whirling Mace, Clobber, Crowd Control... You'd be a machine for sure. Add in Fury and Build up and you'd be one mean son of a B.
