Manga: I've had the same issue. Even with Geometry buffers off and safe mode crankin', my client will just up and crap out with no message. Is it the memory leak? *really wishes they'd roll Cider back a few versions to a more stable client*

Quote:Couldn't have said it better myself. It seems to me that the problem has more to do with what you fight and who's on your team. You're basically missing a major hard control on any fight that's over quickly - but if the fight's over quickly, did you really need that much control? You can still use the AOE sleep to defuse an alpha strike or as an endurance tool, and it'll be back up momentarily in case you trigger an ambush mid-pack.

Fiery Embrace is Incendiary Ammo for your fists, but better. It adds fire damage based on the damage of your attack. Example: My 50 Fire/Fire brute's Greater Fire Sword (with Build Up and Fiery Embrace) does 3 numbers: 190/200/205, all at once. No damage buff, damage add.

Quote:A good team should be cautious unless it's got two rads/a kin and a really hefty tanker. Then it can steamroll. On most teams I've found laying down Static Field and then standing it it takes all of 15 seconds to totally end-sap any mobs around me/in the auras. I then give the green to my team and they swoop in and trash the poor guys before they can attack. Chain Fences Keep them in place, Jolting Chain keeps them on the floor, Paralyzing Blast for emergencies. It takes time to sap. It's nice to do once you have the spawn(s) already under control. I'm talking about quick reactionary control that can make the difference between a wipe and a win. Electric falls short here - it mainly only has its AoE sleep. On a GOOD team, electric control WILL feel inferior. On a slow, cautious team, sure it WILL feel powerful.

Quote:Team with another Elec/. Seriously. At level 14 a friend and I (both elec/rad) were able to pull all 9 Metronome Clockwork bosses and not take a single point of damage. They basically sat there, sapped and slept, until we whittled them away with containment and vet rewards. I think Elec has excellent control, especially if you take the time to inform your team of what you're going to do and why you're going to do it, and then what it'll mean for pulling. Communication is as effective as any playstyle.Electric has too much soft control and not enough hard control IMO.
On teams, all you basically have ready at your disposal for every spawn is Synaptic Overload (and if it misses that first target, you're up a creek) and it takes time to work - hardly conducive to a fast-moving team. Static Field is nice but mostly for it's -speed/recharge. That sleep is going to get broken repeatedly and when it does you can bet your life that any mobs not being actively attacked are all going to be gunning for you due to its aoe debuff.
Mostly, I'm annoyed at how little QUICK REACTIONARY AoE control Electric has. Even Ice has more: Ice Slick + AoE hold + AoE sleep -VS- AoE Sleep + AoE Hold. I don't count Synaptic Overload into this because of it taking so darn long to work; it's more of a power to be used several seconds before the fight starts.
I'm not trying to be flame-bait; it's just that after 42 levels on my electric control dom and reaching the point where builds start to shine, the character is stagnating. More often than not I find myself wondering what the heck do now since the set simply does not have the tools to keep up with teams.
Hardly the top control set, far from it. -
The only 'soft' control in Illusion is Spectral Terror, Confuse, and the sleep that occasionally ricochets off of Blind and pops a nearby other target. Soft control isn't really grabbing enemy attention with Phantom decoys, unless you want to get really technical with it.

Energy seems to be the most lacking of the Brute armors. But I think with perseverance, you could factor in a lot of the rapid killing in Claws to help with the holes in your defenses. I've never gotten a /EA very high at all, so don't count on my words here, I'm only going by Mid's.

Quote:While I haven't been able to sapper-reflect (see Dechs' video), I've always had a good laugh at watching Malta Sappers zap me and losing about 10 endurance tops from both hits.Fine fine, I'll say something.
I don't have a DA brute, but I've managed to make one of the toughest tanks I've seen with DA, mostly thanks to the exotic resists. It has the best heal in the game, and one of the best things for that heal is the Theft of Essence proc. With that slotted I've found that Dark Regen sometimes fills both bars.
In my opinion, DA has more potential than any other armor set.
Supposedly, DA is sub optimal for brutes because the control auras hurt fury. I've heard just as much evidence against this as I've heard theories for it, though.
My bottom line, if you're having fun, you're not doing anything wrong. -
Quote:My Kinvul is a beast of a brute. I recommend it.I just recently returned to the game after a very long break. I'm wanting to build a concept character but I also want it to perform well. I'm looking for advice on the following set pairings, pros/cons that sort of thing.
KM/EA
SS/EA
KM/Inv
Thanks for any advice! -
Yeah, and lord knows the idiot Arsonist needs some beefier resist.

I'm actually trying out a Thugs/Thermal MM, now that there's new level 1-20 content rather than mindless contact grinding in the Rogue Isles from contacts I've done 6 million times before. How would Thugs/Thermal stack up?
-
War Mace has 3 AoE's. Crowd Control, Whirling Mace, and Shatter if you aim it really well.
-
Please see the guide in my sig. With the right enhancements and playstyle, you can become a monster with Dark Armor.

Quote:Yeah, on occasion my Ill/Kin will belt out 3 lady-phantoms. And the Hellion bosses are Demon Summoners named Girlfriend from Hell. God I laughed so hard.Yup, /jealous
And speaking of which... aren't some phantom army pets women? It kinda goes back to the "why can't we have some minions be female?" debate. Hellions have integrated new women bosses (thugs). We see women serving in arachnos and in longbow (mercs). The new Clockwork (bots).
I'm not saying there won't be people making "pimp MMs," but if female phantoms are allowed to be conjured up and fight alongside male phantoms, why can't we have a random arsonist or medic be a gal? Seems to me that regardless which camp you're on about this issue, it's already in the game.
All girl sets (ala knives or carnies)? That's another story. -
Camping Tarp: +5% resistance, 90% chance to collapse as you enter it, 90% chance to blow away with a breeze.

As FotM as it is, Ill/Rad would be a good one. You could pass the Radiation off as your character revealing his enemies' greatest fears to them (debuffs) and showing your allies visions of their victory (buffs). A cool blue/white coloring would help too, depending on how you want to do it.
Just my two cents. -
-
How is this impossible? You can do it and follow it with any other attack you want. He's just saying that's how he begins his attack.

My 50 Ill/Kin was so happy after customizing his colors. I never expected the illusions to come out with the new colors. Pop, pop, pop! Orange and purple illusions!

Quote:Good point. I was trying to avoid a Gang War type thing, since I'm all for set-unique powers. Maybe through some seriously insane programming you could call for a Barricade. You set up shop and give all your pets +Def and +Acc, and give yourself a recharge bonus. It's difficult to come up with something for a Police-themed set that isn't a Gang War clone, now that I think about it.only problems i have with lethal force is that:
- pets cannot get +rech
- this seems very similar to serum from merc set and i honestly would prolly skip it
-
I'd be willing to see some Malta options for Bots. Not the Malta Blue(tm) Titan skin though, some color customizable options. I'd love to see a Bots/Thermal with red/orange Titans running around on fire. Maybe some Yakuza-style options for Thugs, and some less stereotypical Ninja henchies. No Naruto, though. *shudder*

Gotta love these "old days" posts. No one can move on from the "old days" it looks like. Glad I wasn't there for them, or I might be spouting irrelevant information too. Thread's about what Brute's the best for farming, people, not about how you had to walk fifteen miles to school in the rain.
