Because I'm not suggesting the level cap be raised, only award players for their dedication. LVL54s are already out there...

    LOVE this idea.

However I'm not sure how it will fly with various countries. There are some weird.... Rules with flags.

[/ QUOTE ] I like the idea too as long as various nations flag laws/rules were followed.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
How would you feel if I took your national flag down from a flagpole, threw it down on the ground and walked all over it? Or I shot several holes in it? Stuck my finger down my throat and vomited all over it? Put on a set of Kung Fu Tiger Claws, and ripped a bunch of holes in it? Took a knife and stabbed and ripped it several times? Burned it? Threw acid on it? Dumped a bunch of raw sewage on it? (Which would include human feces, among other things.)

You really have no problem with that?

Because if you wear it as a cape, that's just a few of the things that are going to happen to it.

If you really have no objection to defacing the flag of your country that way, what kind of message are you really sending about how you feel about your country?

Respect for your country and for the flag that represents it includes NOT putting it in a situation where you know it will become soiled, torn, burnt, befouled or otherwise defaced. Wearing it as a cape would most certainly be putting it in such a situation.

Look up the colors and the flags of nations you want to have your characters come from, and use those within the costume creator to associate them with those countries. But if you wouldn't be comfortable seeing the flag of your own nation torn, burnt, soiled and defaced as a part of someone's costume, then you should extend the same courtesy to the flags of other nations.

[/ QUOTE ] It wouldn't bother me one bit. Because you(general you) don't matter enough to me.

I very familiar with mid's and I know how to slot effectively. Regardless, with just a few more slots I can say without a doubt that everyones characters would benefit from this. [ QUOTE ]
... actually, no, not everyone's can. Some of my characters could use them, sure. Others... I'm throwing slots *away* because I don't need them. It's not universally true that everyone needs them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] What you replied to didn't say everyone needs them, he said every would benefit. Which is true. How much benefit will vary, but more slots would make your powers better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How, if I don't need them, would I benefit from it?

If I don't need them, no, they wouldn't "make my powers better." They'd be wasted on those characters. Just like the current ones are. Therefore, they would be of no benefit to me. They won't benefit me financially in game, since I can't sell them to someone who could. They won't benefit me enhancement wise, because I don't need them. They would be a detriment during respeccing, because I now have *more* slots to shuffle away somewhere when everything's filled up that I need filled up.

Those would benefit me roughly as much as someone suffering from sunstroke would benefit from more sun. So, no, I would not benefit, and no, they would not make the powers on that character "better."

[/ QUOTE ] Sure they would. More slots means you can devote them to stuff such as better end management, more recharge, better resist, etc.

For example: Let's say you have Flares from fire blast five slotted with single origin enhancements. 3 damage, 1 accuracy, and 1 recharge. Now if you had extra slots you could stick one in Flares and let's say put an end redux in the slot. Flares is a low end cost power, so IMO the end redux isn't needed. But the power is improved.

I don't think adding more slots is a good idea, I feel we have a good balance as is. But adding more enhancements to a power does make it better, the numbers show that.

Let's just say "wishful hoping" that things like this will change does not seem very reasonable to me.

I think Lothic's issue is she presumes too much.

Since we've stepped away form fact and are going on hunches my view is that the "exit to login screen" is to prevent account shenanigans while your on the pot. I vaguely remember something being said about this near launch time but I have no record of it so I file it under personal belief and not documented fact.

The logout timer is to prevent rapid escape, I base this belief on the fact any powers that could give the same instant out are also given a cast time that's interruptible.

[/ QUOTE ] Your ideas seem much more reasonable.

  10. What exploit could it possibly prevent?
  11. I agree, we're not giving anything up by not putting it in. Like you said, we can't give up what we don't have.

But you said you were willing to give stuff up. And I feel that is a horrible idea. That would be a bad road to go down for any service that relies on subscriptions.

Lets walk through someone trying to exploit this command.

You get your team by the mission entrance. You buff them. You wait 30 seconds and the game reloads the zone. You get invited to the team. The team gets halfway through the second or third spawn and needs rebuffing. At this point you would have to recamp wait for timeout and reload, get a new team invite, enter the mission and rebuff then camp/load/reinvite/load mission again.

This could be streamlined for TFs since you wouldn't need to reinvite on the swap back to your play alt, but everyone would have to leave the mission to get buffed since your exploit buffer can't enter the team mission or be invited after the TF forms.

    Did I miss anything?

[/ QUOTE ] Doesn't sound like you missed anything. If somebody wants to really use a pain in the [censored] "exploit" like that, then I say let them. That actually seems like it would slow down your team more than help them.

Any other "exploits" people are worried about?

I remember "/signing" suggestions like this YEARS ago too.
    Still hasn't happened has it?

Why do I always have to end my arguments by pointing out things like this to people who routinely suggest the same things over and over and over again regardless if the suggestion is any good or not?

[/ QUOTE ] Seems to me your entire argument against it is because of exploits. But yet nobody has come up with a decent example of an exploit. So I don't understand how your argument makes any sense.

Also, the fact the it hasn't happened isn't relevant.

No, what got this board moved to this section was the behaviour of Shiverwraith and KittyKrusader

[/ QUOTE ] In all fairness to those two, it was a group effort that got this section moved down here. If it was just two people they would have been banned and that would have been the end of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would you agree that their actions acted as the catalyst that got tempers flaring on all sides.

[/ QUOTE ] Absolutely, they were probably the two worst. But the rest of us(myself included) didn't help it at all. And I still don't think jranger should have been banned. I thought he was amusing.

You can already fairly easily trade resources.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If trading resources is already fairly easy, then there really isn't a need for the devs to waste time on this idea.

They can use their resources on more important issues.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If a number of people want it, then it's an important issue. All QoL features are low-priority. This one is no different. And this response is almost desperate. If it doesn't affect your game, you have no legitimate reason to object. Other than trolling, but then I think half the people who spend time on this board are here to down any idea for the fun of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just because people want something doesn't mean it should be done.

Some people want to be able to respec out of their powersets.

Some people want to merge the servers.

Some people want the company to sell influence.

Some people want to eliminate PvP altogether.

Some people want to get rid of co-op zones.

None of those things will affect your game. They are all optional features you can choose not to use. So you have no legitimate reason to object, other than trolling.

So if you voice any disagreement with those ideas it's solely because you enjoy downing those ideas for the fun of it.

[/ QUOTE ] Just throwing wanted to point out that a few of the things you mentioned would effect everybody.

  22. [ QUOTE ]
If acquiring enhancements over time is a valuable function in the game, why is collecting them over time for each character not valuable?

[/ QUOTE ] To some people it is. For me(most of the time) and others(not sure how many) it's not. I really feel it's just a personal preference.

    [ QUOTE ]
Doesn't having all the enhancements you might ever want, but only if you have a high level or wealth lucky character still reduce the value the time requirement for enhancement acquisition provides? Doesn't it reduce it in equal portion to what is lost if you have free enhancements?

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, it does reduce the time if you have a high level character funding an alt because level 50s can earn influence at a much higher rate. I don't think it reduces it in equal portion because at some point you still have to earn the influence with your 50, which does take time. But by giving away all the enhancements for free it completely eliminates the time investment.

    [ QUOTE ]
If it is more fun to get the enhancements then to have them freely available, isn't it fair to ask, why it would not be fun to do that per character rather then per account?

[/ QUOTE ] Again, I just think it's a personal preference. For example, I don't find it fun on my blasters and defenders to earn the merits/influence to purchase some KB protection. I want the KB protection asap.

I think a time investment is important and giving away free enhancements is a much worse idea because it eliminates the carrot on the stick. And the people that want the ability to have each of their characters earn their influence still can, just don't use the optional mail system. And for people like me, it would add an option that would make my in-game life a bit more convenient.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Enhancements drop at your real level. If you fight green or blue con, they'll be -1 or -2. If you fight Yellow-Purple enemies, They will be +0 to +3.

[/ QUOTE ] They can be more than +3 to you.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
But none of this speaks to the arguement I made on free enhancements.
"There is nothing that you could get with (free enhancements) that you couldn't get from influence from winning a Costume Contest or getting a super expensive recipe or salvage drop and selling it on the market."
Since you claim this state of the game offers players the ability to trick out a character wholy divorced from a need to transfer inf, I ask the counter arguement:

    Why transfer at all then?
    And why not free enhancements?

[/ QUOTE ] Because time spent playing is also a cost of enhancements. Your idea would eliminate that factor. While the idea of easier transfers would not. Somebody, at some point, had to go out and earn the influence and get the drop, and that took time. Your idea of just giving them away would eliminate the need to play the game at all.
