Quote:The hilarity is Apple has an extremely long history of doing really scary Orwellian crap and suing people into oblivion for pretty much just daring to compete against them... and yet people still buy the marketing crap that Apple is fighting the good fight against the evil Microsoft empire.
Start here if you'd like a humorous overview of some of their latest:
http://www.cracked.com/article_18377...-apple_p1.html
That's a good read. Apple is one of a very few companies that I refuse to (knowingly) give my money to. Don't get me wrong, they make good hardware and their smart. I just don't like the way they do business.
I'm not a fan of Microsoft either, but they are necessary to my computer usage unfortunately. But if that changes, I'll drop them too. -
Quote:I'm talking about statements by people, like you, that definitively state those things won't happen. That is why I originally quoted that short part of your post. I'm not talking about BaB's saying power customization will never happen, as far as I know he never said that, only that it would be a ton of work.no one ever said power customization wouldn't happen. they said "at this time it won't happen". same thing for email. why does know one seem to get this right?
But many posters in the past stated that such things as mailing items, influence, etc would never happen. And those people were wrong.
So making statements like "it will never happen," is actually quite pointless. Because you just don't know that. -
What attack chain are you using now?
-
Quote:Because the rest wasn't relevant.why didn't you quote everything i said? here let me do it for you.
Things change, manpower, circumstances, budgets, directions, devs, etc. So the fact that one dev said that once may not mean anything a year or two from now.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think it will happen. But people said for a while that power customization and emailing items to yourself wouldn't happen either. But they both did.
So making definitive statements like you did aren't really worth much, if anything at all. -
Don't bring logic and common sense when talking about Apple products. If the fanboys don't come after you, Mr. Job's goons will.

If the OP decides to pair a defender or controller with the scrapper then I would pick a set that complements the scrapper.
For example if the scrapper is something/fire then I would pick a defense based set like Cold or Forcefields and if the scrapper is /SR then I would pick something like sonic.
I don't think that is really super important, but IMO, I feel that is the best way to go about it.
That being said, if the OP wants to make a rad defender then either way is just as good since that is more about debuffing than buffing(though rad has some awesome buffs). -
I read that part, It's just my opinion that peeling aggro isn't a problem. Therefore, I don't think that is a good reason.
-
I don't see that happening. Too many people are against completely closed platforms. Besides, there isn't enough of a benefit(if any) to closed platforms for people to abandon open platforms.
-
Vengeanced Nemesis are brutal even if you're softcapped. I found that out using my fire/shield in a +3x8 mission recently. Don't remember the last time I face planted that fast on a Scrapper. It was a fun mission, I was glad to have some challenge.
-
Quote:I couldn't agree more. That is generally what my buddy and I do, and it is always a blast.Another scrapper. There is nothing that cannot be solved by the application of more scrappers
Quote:
MOST combinations will work well with a Scrapper. For newer players I'd stay away from teaming a Scrappers with a Storm defender/controller or a Blaster .They can work, I've done them, but it's not as simple a playstyle. The reasoning, if you care: Storms build a lot of chaos, including lots of knockback in arbitrary directions and disoriented enemies staggering off randomly. The playing "Fetch!" can get old. Blasters have the problem that they do more damage- sometimes LOTS more damage- than Scrappers, so they can outaggro a scrapper handily. They have very little mitigation of their own, so you often end up with badguys peeling off the Scrapper and going after your delicate bits. Your other choice is to throttle back the damage, in which case... if you're not doing more damage than a Scrapper, why play a Blaster?
Quote:Dual Scrappers is fun. Competition on who gets the most kills is a minigame on its own, but when a greater threat arises you can combine your powers for great justice.
I have the fire/shield and my buddy has the other one. He'll be surrounded by a mob, taking them out one by one and I'll see him and wipe them all out with a shield charge and fire sword circle combo just so I can laugh at him. -
Quote:Off topic, but this isn't true. Electric Melee is an AoE specialist. It's single target damage is poor.
For the FotM builds, why do people play them? Well, the particular powersets you mentioned are the most versatile, and can do most things well. Other powersets are more geared towards certain playstyles and have different tactics associated. Spines has a plethora of AoE attacks, but not much in the single target attacks. Electric melee however, has an even mix of AoE, Single target, and one extremely powerful PBAoE teleport. So, while it doesn't have the AoE power of Spines, it does everything in moderate balance. -
-
This. I'm more a fan of open platforms, but hey more power to whoever likes being told by Apple what they can and can't do.
Also, seeing as how Apple is now suing HTC over Android, I would watch out. The only reason to do something like that is because Apple recognizes what serious competition Android is becoming. -
I'm indifferent about lowering the redside requirements for accolades.
But I'm extremely against the idea of raising the blueside requirements. -
Quote:/signed. Much like being able to mail influence/loot to yourself, this should have been done a long time ago.On the current CoHUpdater.exe loading screen there is a line of links at the top of the loader with:
Each of these is actually a link... but depending on a player's monitor size and monitor resolution, as well as which OS they are running, it might not always be perfectly clear that they are links... or that they aren't just one line of text.
Currently, I'm under the impression that the CoHUpdater uses the IE rendering engine to display it's web-page updates, mostly as under Cedega, the loader performs pretty much the same as the old Steam loader.
Which, well, brings me to my suggestion. Currently Valve software is implementing a new version of their loader interface built with the QT based KHTML fork, Webkit. Webkit allows Valve to pull off several nifty (native-code) cross-platform tricks with the Steam UI, without having to depend on external plugins.
It'd be nice if the CoHUpdater.exe loader could be redesigned in a similar fashion, with a similar main window changing notification to clear up the amount of picture and paragraph blocks in the loader, and better blocking of the Links, as well as roll-over indications that Links ARE Links. In addition, moving away from the IE rendering engine would stop the launcher from trying to open up IE everytime a person clicks on a link. -
If I had to guess, I would say option A.

Quote:Thanks for the complement. My build actually improved once I got rid of the Blessing of the Zypher.Nice build Munki! I modified it to make a cheap-ish version (no purps/pvps), lost 15% rech but the numbers aren't bad, not that I'm an expert on attack chain values. I'm leveling a fm/sd/blaze who will have low resistances and pitiful regen mostly for farming, your build gave me some ideas on how to get good regen and softcap AoE which I was having a hard time with, because I'm considering making her alternate build fm/sd/body to solo hard stuff and pseudo tank.
I like the modifications you did, maintained the regen and recovery which is extremely important IMO. Especially since I never take Aid Self.
This build is great for people that don't wanna spend the influence on the PvP IO and purples(I don't see myself buying those things for another build for a long long time).
Quote:Kioshi, can you post that build the long way for those of us on Macs who can't see it since Mids doesn't exist for us?
Thanks!

In addition to farming I suggest using the market to make influence. If you use the market well you'll be able to make significantly more influence than you could farming.
-
Quote:This is gonna be a rough estimation for the most part.Just wondering, so I know, how much does that build cost?
Looks pretty good though.
PvP IO: 3 Billion
Hetacomb: 1.2-1.5 Billion
Armageddon: 1.4 Billion
Five Luck of the Gambler Recharge 600 Million(estimate, I had a couple already)
Numina and Miracle Unique: Random Rolls so 0(estimate about 250 Million for enhancements)
Membrane Exposure: 150 Million each
The others I don't really recall, but several of them go for 20 milliion or more. These prices I'm listing are also buy it nao prices, which I was fine paying because I wanted them at that moment.
If you're patient or get a few lucky merit rolls you can easily save hundreds of millions if not a billion or more.
Looking at my build I just remembered that I actually have Obliteration five slotted in Fire Sword Circle instead of the purple set. I was running with those while I earned more influence for the final purple I needed and decided that the little bit of extra recovery, accuracy and recharge wasn't worth the price. So you can skip that and you'll still be doing great. -
Here is the build I'm currently using. Like I said earlier, it has the PvP IO and two purple sets. If you don't wanna spend that kind of influence, it should be easy enough to modify.
If you have any questions, just ask and I'll help where I can.

Quote:I would definitely say that Scrappers are characters whose chief purpose is dealing damage. But, they cannot contribute at full potential to one of the more difficult archvillains faced on the task force.
That is just flat out wrong. That is a fact. Whenever I fight Ghost Widow I stand right next to her and attack. Therefore, my experience proves that your statement is incorrect. -
First, thanks for the reply.
Second, I'm dumb. I remember now. I thought it seemed familiar, which it should since I'm the third post in that thread. -
Quote:Quick question, what exactly is that survivability score and how would I go about figuring mine?Resistance could affect the answer, since if you highly resist the damage coming through, it matters less that it comes through. Based on the assumption that we're talking about Dark Armor, I plugged your numbers on top of Alexei's resistance, with the exception that I raised his psionic resistance to 60%, because I believe you like to slot for that more than I do. Also using Alexei's regeneration and healing, but that makes no comparative difference.
Option 1 then gives you a survivability score of 1323.
Option 2 then gives you a survivability score of 1784.
So option 2 wins by a landslide.
That said, we don't have the complete picture. You have SOME positional defenses in option 1. I bet you have SOME psionic defense in both. I bet you have SOME AoE defense in option 2.
My bet's still on option 2, though. -
Give me a number that you're willing to spend. I have one that will work, but it has two purple sets and the PvP IO.
