    Real World Hero

I'm glad you figured it out, Melanie. In fact, we're giving out Real World Hero gold titles in game again this year to players that have made donations. We've scheduled visits to each server every week from now until Christmas and Liberty is scheduled for today and every Tuesday from 5:30-6:00pm PST (8:30-9:00pm EST).

If you can be in game during that time, we'll have Ocho (Mod08) there to help award titles. I've updated the Real World Hero thread with all of the details. Just send me a tell (@Mr. Wentworth) to find me.

Hope we can connect in-game at some point. I'd love to get a gold title for you and any other Liberty donors.
  2. I'm pulling for any server that can take down Virtue this year. Why? Do I have something against Virtue? Not at all, but I can't help thinking of the good things that could happen for the charities through a little friendly competition among servers. I know that some people on Virtue are pretty confident they can walk away with it again as the server that raises the most in donations. I love them for it, too, but I always cheer for the underdogs.

Don't forget that we'll be hosting our concluding Real World Hero Celebration Ball on the server with the highest donations. I don't know how exciting that sounds to Justice, but I remember having a really great time at it last year.

Samuraiko, if I haven't yet said it enough, thank you for the stupendous announcement video you created for Real World Hero this year. I hope you are still receiving compliments on it. Thank you!

    Best regards,
    @Mr. Wentworth
  3. I can see Protector on the graph now. It gets updated at least once per day. We're still getting started, so it wouldn't take much to jump a few spots fast.

    Real World Hero

    Hello Liberty!

Melanie, I can add that there was at least one donor that declared Liberty as their home server for the Real World Hero charity drive last year. We had at least one donation come in from every server, including the EU servers. Not everyone leaves their server info in the comments after donating, so the donation chart on the website will miss those donors, too.

I'm definitely glad to see you talking it up this year! We're excited to be at it again and have put together some new things to draw attention across the servers. We'll be announcing contests and events that everyone can participate on the Real World Hero thread in the Player Events section of the board (here) and on the Real World Hero website, too.

We're grateful to everyone that can help spread the word of the charity drive across the servers and across the internet. This is as valuable and important as donating cash.

    Best regards,
    @Mr. Wentworth

It's nice of you to think of us, Marcian. Thank you! I am confident we will have no trouble at all with whatever may eventually come to light. It's true we do enjoy our harmless RP, but we certainly can't expect everyone to take our perspective as canon, nor are we inflexible about the future. In fact, I imagine this sort of speculation about our personal morality will make for very entertaining dialogue in game. We're looking forward to the fun and profit!
  6. So, now I've got to go explore the Rogue Isles to find places to expand Wentworth's. As a player I'm in favor, of course. As a hero I will RP to the end and insist that my consignment houses do NOT conduct transactions with any Black Markets. Inconceivable!
  7. You had to stand on my desk to take that screenie, didn't you? I see footprints all over my paperwork!
  8. Wow and thanks! Mrs. W called me to pass on the good news earlier and I was unable to make my phone play nice to post my "Wow" sooner. I really thought there were a bunch of really great captions for this week, so I'm flattered to have won. Thank you and well done everyone!

  10. Hey! The flyer said there would be catgirls at this party!

    Tis the Season

I'll have some charity information to post about in a couple more days. I've always thought that we have a great and giving community.
  13. If you're done getting/giving treats by then, we hope you'll stop by.
  14. Complete details for this Infinity event are already posted over in the Player Events forum. But I wanted to be sure it was easy for Infinity folk to find. Arrangements have been made for non-coalitioned guests to enter the base for the party. All are welcome!

  15. Thank you for the birthday wishes, but I have decided to be 27 for the next decade instead, or at least until I decide what to do for my mid-life crisis. Suggestions?

Hit me up for a party favor the next time you see me in game.

    Cheers!
    Mr. Wentworth
  16. Hey, super thanks, Projectionist! My wife didn't tell me she had submitted my pic until Christmas. Just got back from traveling and wanted to say thanks.
  17. I defer to others in deciding what bases, if any, are seen. I would like one of them to be mine, but think it is more important that bases are looked at than "mine" is looked at.

A pre tour seems like a nice idea. It could give everyone that posted here an opportunity to choose their top picks from the list to represent the whole group.

What elements of PvE/RP bases do we want to highlight to the devs? The ability to create realism with stacking (now merging) objects, facets of base building that currently prevent this realism (doorways)? I'm not exactly sure what's top of this list.

    One question...

How do you make the items stack and "float" like that? I've had some ideas for other things and I can't do them unless I can get things to stack but they don't cooperate with me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This may not be the way the robot was accomplished, but the best method I've seen so far is to stack up 5 Large Accent Lamps in a tower that reaches from floor to ceiling, then use the large, white Floor Tile from Room Details. You can slide it up the stack of lamps in 1 foot increments and stack objects on the floor tile at whatever level you choose. Then move the floor tile up or down to the next position you desire and continue stacking items at the new elevation. Suuuuper easy!

Note: you can also stack the Floor Tile onto itself to cover an entire room at a chosen elevation. It has no thickness and everything will be at the same level.

(Not my discovery, but worth telling everyone about. I'll credit the first post I saw of this technique once I find it again. Enjoy!)

    Edit to add link:
(Here's that thread link with lots of excellent stacking suggestions, begun by ExChampionPlayer.)
  19. That's really great. Looks like it was fun to build. Don't let it out of your base, please!
  20. I just solved my issue, unrelated to any CoH limitation, and have been able to generate a demo with 7000 players standing in formation in a 30sec loop. They just stand there, but it renders all 7000 of them. I'm not sure what kind of framerate it would give me if I tried to give them any actions, dreadful I'm sure.
  21. That could explain what I am seeing then. I have copied several hundred players and when it renders, only a small portion of them appear in the demo. I will try to reduce the scope of my design and see what happens. I love experimentation. If I can discern a more precise limitation, I will post the details here. Thanks for the input!
  22. Just wondering if anyone has experimented with an upper limit on the number of characters that can be placed in a single scene. I know that part of this limitation is based on the capabilities of the hardware the demo is run on, but has anyone hit a wall that even a beefy pc hits? For example, imagine creating a large battlefield scene with hundreds of NPCs and heroes or row upon row of soldiers as far as the horizon.

I'm sure I can muster up the ranks on Infinity to show everyone a good time with DJs, dancing, etc.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but things like the archways need to be redone so that they only have bounding boxes on the pillar parts or something for pathing because you can walk under/through them but the editor considers them to block doorways and things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd bet it starts getting tricky with things that will be blocking from one angle, and passable on another. For example, you don't want to end up allowing 6 archways across a door rotated so the pillars are all blocking the door.

One solution to that may be to create many new pillars and floatable cross-beams. So they're treated as 3 separate hitboxes, you just need to assemble them yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was pretty much my thought, or even not have a bounding box around the crossbeam part if needed and only on the leg-support pillars, if that was easier on the devs, though I'd like the floatable build it yourself better of the two options.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd suspect that objects can have only one bounding box. But there are some objects which extend beyond the bounding box, such as the base portal, trees and plants, and holograms. I'd suggest creating a half-arch with a bounding box that extends from the base of the object to its top height around the column, but does not encompass the portionof the arch which extends out from the column. Putting two together, with rotation, would make a full arch with a passable area between the two bounding boxes of the columns.
