  1. I saw someone advertising a farm arc in Help the other day, and noted he was asking people to 5-star it. I enquired why he wanted it 5-starred since afaik there's no huge benefit to doing that, and sb else in Help said words to the effect that having lots of high ratings would "help put the farm on the Dev's Choice List"

If farmers think that high ratings will get their farm DCd, and for some reason they WANT a DC, then...words fail me.

I don't even know what the "Dev's Choice List" is!

    /facepalm.

Storming Citadel is very short, if you haven't played it already, i think it hasn't been killed by the profanity filter fiasco.

  3. It's not a gamebreaker, no, but an unfortunate side effect of the awesomeness of the costume creator having a zillion bits is that there's a zillion bits to search through. I also don't know if there are barbarian ears, or back details, or in which head section they are - helms? half helms? no helms? Same with armor - are the barb pieces in armour, tops, tops with skin, detail w, detail 2, etc.

It's not about noticing one and wonderiong if its a barbarian piece. I wantr to know where they all are so i can go look at them without trawling through every single pop-up menu and sub menu.

I'm a fan of consistency./ If they''ve stopped adding custom set lists to the costume creator, I wish they'd tell me so I can stop buying new costume sets.

Next time they release a new set, I know now to ask in the forums if it's included in the custom set list before i buy it.

  5. I bought the barbarian set but it's not in the custom list. Is there a list of the various parts anywhere that i can use to find the varioius bits?

  6. I have wasted however many points it cost me to buy the barbarian set.. since all the various bits of it are scattered all over the ****** costume creator and the custom list doesn't have 'barbarian' in it. I don't want to fart around digging in every damn costume section looking for things that might be barbarian-ish. I'm not going to risk my money on any motre bundles unless I find out for sure that the custom list has been updated with the new sets.

    Really angry about this.

  7. Thanks. Is there some way of easily finding out what I don't have that's available? Can I accidentally buy something i already have?

  8. I've been subscribing since Nov 2004 continually, and I've bought every booster pack. How many points will i have, and what sort of stuff is there still left for me to buy?

    Bah. "58:55 remaining"...

  10. Can I access the Paragon Store without going in-game? I just got back from holiday and while I'm waiting for I21 to download, I thought I'd maybe have a look at what I can get.

How do you do this? I'm having the same problem.

EDIT: nevermind, I found it in the File->settings bit
  12. Does Manticore's mansion still bizarrely have the Midnight Club conference room? After his quite cool Mansion, that struck me as utterly lazy.

I at least hope his mansion doesn't jump around to different buildings now?

"Ghaly pumped shell after shell into the shambling monstrosities, and they fell easily enough, but they were many and his ammo was limited. When the inevitable occurred, he threw his empty gun at the nearest horror, and cast a glance behind him. Civilians were still running for safety. He was the only thing between them and the creatures. He smiled grimly and raised his fists. Even a few more seconds might spell the saving of a life.

The monsters were upon him in a groaning mass of alien violence. He was surprised to find his punches actually seemed to be doing them some damage; but he could do little to fend off their raging blows. They surrounded him and after a last depserate punch, Ghaly closed his eyes and waited for the killing blow.

And then he opened them again. He was kneeling like that guy in Platoon (he'd secretly decided this was the way he'd go when the time came at an early age), yelling out his defiance, and the alien beasties were still pounding on him and dribbling unearthly drool over his trilby, but for some reason he wasn't dead. In fact, he realised as his death-roar petered out, he felt pretty damn good. He gingerly stood up. A gigantic blubbery alien standing right at his left elbow smashed a gelatinous arm at his; the girder embedded in it powered straight into Ghaly's face, and he winced in anticipation of a right pasting, but it just bounced off.

'Hm...this is weird', Ghaly thought as another of the monsters smashed a huge foot into his ghoolies to no apparent avail. Ghaly scratched his chin as another tried to bite his head off. He was perplexed. This was a turn up for the books, and no mistake! This was the first time an alien invasion had come to Paragon with 'invincibility for the puny humans' as a strategy.

A few educational minutes later, Ghaly was sauntering through Galaxy City, his guns safely back in his boot (no sense in wasting ammo), lamping Shivans left and right with casual backhanders and the odd uppercut. He found a hero collapsed on the floor, begging for help. He elbowed a villain who was pondering stealing the fallen hero's power out of the way. "Get up, you fool - you're invincible!" and carried on.

After some time, he found a giant pit in the ground. A tremendous roar emanated from it as a gargantuan alien fiend arose, roaring out its hate at the world. Ghaly skipped over to it and whipped out a fishing rod, pretended to fish in the pit, did a rain dance, then finally shpped out a newspaper and ignored everything. When he returned from his reverie, the beast and its useless brethren had been blown to bits by some passing jets, and shortly afterwards Ghaly felt a teleport kick in.

Ghaly found himself near a Longbow helicopter. Statesman was standing there, fretting about things, as he often does. Ghaly approached him. "Well, that was easy".
"Easy?" spluttered Statesman,"Those things look like a threat neér before seen by this world! How did you survive?"
Ghaly licked his lips nervously, then a sly smile spread over his face. "Oh yeah, right, yeah, ooh, nasty pieces of work those Shivans. Thought I was a gonner for sure. Really hard. Honest. That was a right hairy fight! Don't worry, though, Marcus, Big Shivan sorted out. All my own work, honest. Considering that was, er, worse than what I reckon the Alpha Squad went through, I'll have a medal, please. Two medals. And your house."
Statesman squinted at him, "I see you managed to keep your hat untouched during the fight..." he muttered.
"Got lucky" replied Ghaly quickly. "Epic fight, that" he added.
    "Epic?" Statesman repeated, hopefully.
    "Epic."
Staesman darted a look left and right, then leaned over conspiratorially. "OKay, I'll see what I can do about a house, but don't tell anyone, will you?"
Ghaly tapped his nose. ""Not a whisper, no worries".

'New house, eh?', thought Ghaly as he boarded the Heli. 'Epic'.

  15. Do the SSSAs stay available after a new one comes out? I'm wondering if they get removed or whatever. Will I still be able to play the wjole of Who WIll Die in a year?

How people still think they are needed in that instance is beyond me.

Are there any other examples of fights in the game in which toons can be victorious simply by zoning in and going AFK?

You don't need to run away, since he can't kill you and will die in a minute anyway. In beta I used to just run up and do the /chicken emote at the 'GM'.

No, but Im sure lots of gamers have their own preferred defaults for 3rd person games, which might not neseccarily be the ones CoH defaults to. I always invert the mouselook up/down settings, for example. Every 3rd person game I play, I use the same key setups.

Yes, I will. The new tutorial has a nice epic feel to it. Makes me feel very heroic.
Try doing it without worrying about getting hit by anything, and ignore the Giant Shivan, and you'll soon realise how irrelevant your hero is to Galaxy.

I did like the old tutorials, this is true, and I wish they were still available as alternate true tutorial zones instead of just accessible through ouro, but I also think that the new one is a gigantic waste of something that could have been insanely good. Each to their own, but I'm clearly not alone in despising the new 'tutorial' map. It's CoH dumbed down so much it's insulting. And I think that new players learn the wrong lessons from it if they learn anything at all.

When you can't go below 1hp, there's no point in avoiding any damage. There are no negative effects at all apart from a brief knockdown from any attacks that toons suffer in the tutorial. The health bar might as well just have 'INVINCIBLE!!!' written on it.

If NOT avoiding damage sent you to the hospital, maybe there'd be a lesson there.

  24. I wonder when we'll get a thread from a new player complaining that from what they learned in the tutorial, they swam right up to Lusca and started attacking it and died almost immediately, and what's going on there, are the ingame GMs bugged?

And which are pointless since you can't die and don't need to use any Powers at all to defeat it.
