Quote:I'd pay a one-time fee of $10 if they'd unlock all the old Origin arcs for low level toons. They're still there, since if you've got a pre-Freedom toon who's midway through one, you can finish it and even get directed to further old contacts.I'd pay a one time fee of $5 to have some more content in the 1-15 level range.

That page also contains a possible clue to the next powerset we might get - Candida Control!

Check this out! I just chopped a thin slice off the end of that log, and look - it rolls! maybe we can think of something useful to do with it in combination with that red hot stuff you made when the sky gods hit our tree with the flashy hammer?

You can complete the new 'tutorial' map (I'm not calling it a zone, ever) by clicking brawl 4 times. That's the absolute minimum you need to do, combat-wise. Just tag those 4 required Shivans and let the NPCs do everything else.
Epic? Pff.

Quote:Things must have radically improved in it since i last played it, then. Here we have briefings, debriefings, clues, NPC dialogue, mission entry popups, chat log messages, the info panels, souvenirs...apart from brief briefings and debriefings, I never noticed any of the others in that game.Erm, actually it's about the same. Of course, most of the players there have the same response to it, too. ("Click here to fight mobs.")
Which apart from all the damn running was my main reason for hating it. "Hello? Plot? Storyline? Where are you?"
If it's got actual words in it now, maybe i'll give it another bash.

Quote:I'm submitting a bug petition too every time it happens. It's really bad.Good point about the detective hijacking the waypoint. I put a suggestion that this stop over in the suggestion forum after reading about this. It really is excessive and tends to lose players from their primary mission trail.

Sort of connected to the topic at hand is this:I was playing a newish toon yesterday, and her level was 6, and I had 3 active contacts. Habashy, Sondra something, and Jonathan St Smythe (or whatever his name is - he's in City Hall). I was enjoying doing 3 arcs at once, and was pleasantly surprised at the apparent variety of stuff to do, since i was under the impression that they'd gutted the low-level content to leave a railroad for newbies.
I wasn't having enough fun with Cold/Ice on that defender, however, and so i decided to reroll her as a TM/Ice. Shortly before I did, I finished ST Smythe's arc and was introduced to Wong, that guy standing outside City Hall near the Base portal (I think?).
After I'd deleted her and rolled her again as a TM/ICe, i played through the same content again, only this time, of course, St Smythe and Wong were'nt offered to me. Obviously, I'd rolled her up before Freedom launched, and had played her enough to get her starting Science contact arc going.
What's interesting is that I was able to finish Smythe's arc, AND was introduced to Wong after that. Which makes me believe that the old contact chains are still working, but we're just locked out of them. Which i think is a pity.
Limiting my choice in the game is hardly what I'd call 'Freedom'.

Quote:I've been getting this too. And some of the questions from new players in the Help channel make me think that they just don't read anything. It's also assuming you actually READ the mission dialogue. I've met a number of players who had no idea why they were doing what they were doing, mostly because they clicked through all the dialogue as fast as possible.
A depressing number of players haven't the slightest clue what the game's story is all about because "If they wanted to read they wouldn't be playing a video game."
Seriously, someone actually told me that once. They said the game was boring and had no story. That was their response when I asked them if they'd actually been reading the dialogue boxes.
If they're coming from World of Running, then I can see why they don't bother reading anything. The amount of narrative delivered via text in that game is minimal.

Quote:Oh yeah, I remember that got me too when i was doping TwinshotThe break would happen once Twinshot sent her to Kings Row to talk to Blue Steel.
s arc in beta.
Hmm, maybe sb needs to go hang out in KR spamming broadcast with 'FREEBS - DONT GO TO TEH DETECTIVE - GO TO BLUE STEEL!" lol.

Quote:During our time playing, one of the freebs asked me incredulously how i could play the game for 6+ years. I replied "They keep bringing out awesome stuff, I keep playing". His reply was "Nah, this game is too repetitive for that. But it's ok for free."Keep in mind, as mind-numbing as they can be, Radio Missions tend to get run instead of story arcs, and this has been true for as long as there have been Radio Missions blueside and Newspaper Missions redside. They're quick and easy. But they give the false impression that the game is simplistic and boring.
He'd been doing radio missions over and over.

Quote:I don't understand why they got rid of the old lowbie content. The low levels are now a railroad. Adding the new stuff is great, but they should have left the old stuff in as well.Right now, when you finish the Atlas Park missions you're told to go to KR and see a detective. The only other contacts that pop up, even using Find Contacts, are Twinshot and Wincott.
I've found it pretty annoying myself since, if you don't want to do Twinshot, you have to run radios to get back onto a contact track.

Quote:Yeah, now that i think of it, the way she descriobed it, this could very well have been the case. I remember that confusing me in Beta too. That's a really stupid design feature.A wild guess would be she was sent to a different contact in KR but when you first enter the zone your waypoint is overwritten and you are sent to the detective for a radio. She probably didn't notice the switch.

I teamed with a free player today, who was asking in help if anyone want4ed to help her with a mission. Another free player joined and the three of us had a fun time doing a radio mission in KR. After we did that, I asked her what the next plan was and she picked another radio mission. I enquired why she was doing radios instead of the normal content and she replied that she hadn't been given any. She said her route from the tutorial was to Habashy who then told her to go speak to the detective in KR, and he gave her the radio, and she assumed that she was to do radio missions until told otherwise by the game.
Is this a problem with her understanding, or a problem with how the contacts describe what players are to do to follow the normal arc progress in the game?

Quote:Your question has patently been answered already by the thread, since we're talking about farming and the thread's still here. In fact, I'm not sure why you asked in the first place if it wasn't to stir, since there are alrerady discussions abpiut farming in plenty of threads in this forum. Not really. Given that your only source for them is yourself.
All I care about is whether we're allowed to talk about farming. You haven't answered my question.
To anyone else, here's my view:
Farming isn't the problem, however distasteful some people may find it. The problem is that farm arcs aren't segregated from story arcs by the system.
Segregate farm arcs from story arcs in the AE UI, and everyone would be happy.

Come to think of it, wedon't have a 'fat' slider either, do we? We can't make a villain like The Blob for example.

I like the way my Archery/TA defender's bottom wiggles when she runs.
She's head-to-toe in power armour, though, so no flesh on show, even if the armorur is tight-ish.

When was the head Start period? I was eligible for it, but i was on holiday until the beginning of this week. Have i missed my only chance to get Doorbuster?

Quote:I'm blowing my own trumpet here: I invented SFMAI search for not voted, my level, 3-4 stars, and the keyword "SFMA", which most of the authors seem to use for "Story Focused Mission Arc", which is a fancy way of saying "not a farm"
Quite proud to see it still being useful!

Quote:This sums up my view after having that exact same rushed panicking annoying experience.I don't remember it being bright green and glowing. Mind you, its not hard to spot IF you know where to look and are not panicked because the timer has run down.
The real problem here is that there is not enough info in the mission to know what to do - you have no way of knowing that killing groups of igneous will add to the timer, so most folks rush to the original exit, which burns up a good chunk of the timer, then if they don't happen to turn in the correct direction when they get the message about the exit not working they can easily miss the cave door, since they are not expecting it on this map. I first did this mission with 2 other very experienced players and none of us figured it out - I had to ask on global channels to find it.
The overall problem here is not that its hard to complete the missions once you know what to do - its that the first experience can easily be very BAD - and thats not a good idea for the first introduction to content the dev's are pushing as a 'bonus' for VIP's and that they want to sell to premium players.
Adding to the aggravation is that there's a little half-coridoor off the second room, leading to a cave-in. I thought that the 'new' exit would be here, so ninja ran back there - only to be swarmed by igneous on my A/TA defender and killed.
EDIT: After playing the first mission of the trumpeted ultra-special signature arc part 1, I was booted out of the map whilst grinding my teeth, and then I stared at my toon, faceplanted outside the door, and said 'Well that ^^%$@ing blew!' and logged out to go play Driver: SF instead
Not the reaction the writer wanted, I'll wager.

Mission oen sent me into a rage. First off the damn boss and his awful holds made me angry, then the 'Nao run noob haha!' bulldish, and then i get to the door only to be told 'lolololno door 4 joo!' - I run back into the cave to look adn Im faceplanted by the igneous.
AWFUL!
