I have written a guide on my experiences playing a stone/stone tank with power descriptions and assessments. You can find it here. It was written for issue 6 but I think most of what I said still relevant, except maybe that the mineral armour may be more useful with the i7 boost to defence.

Happy to join as Shen-Lung once again

Its level 25-30 I think. I must warn you though that the Citadel Taskforce has a well founded reputation of inducing involuntary narcolepsy in all those that take part. If I recall correctly, it consists of a series of identical Council cave maps and practically all the missions are kill all.
On a side note, I will try to level Shen up to 25 in Striga, and hopefully I will be able to open up the Ernesto Hess Taskforce which you get it you complete the Striga story arcs. I have done it several times before and it is the polar opposite of bastion, lots of fun with varied maps and an interesting plotline. -
I believe with Shadowfall the -speed effect was removed around issue 4 so now it does not reduce movement speed at all.

Whilst I welcome the endurance cost reduction for Flight (making it a practical tavel power for anyone without stamina at last), I notice that Energy Flight on my Peacebringer is the same old endurance hog. Was this an oversight? I hope they bring Energy Flight's endurance costs in line with Flight's some time soon.
(Sorry, just a short rant, hope this is the right place to post)

Shen-Lung will be able to join in (despite his scaly skin problem becoming more....visible recently)

With V-Rock I slotted 3 dam res, 2 end red and 1 def enh, combined with stone skin with the default slot this let me hit the smashing lethal cap, and exceed the defence provided by rock armour.
Whilst 3 slotted swift allows a you to walk at a reasonable pace in either granite armour or rooted, you slow down to a halt if you use both (and if I recall correctly the mez protection from granite armour is not as effective as that from rooted so in heavy fire situations both are needed).
As to the "how uber is granite armour" in my experience I found it to be a pain in the bum on small teams. This is because on small teams every wallop helps and the slowdown, reduced recharge rate and damage meant I couldn't contribute as effectively. Generally for a team of 5 or less I would try to use rock armour and rooted as that was much more flexible. I only used granite on a)large teams with large numbers of high level spawns and b) if the excrement hit the rotating air re-distrubution device.

I've teamed with you a couple of times with my original 50 V-Rock and it was always a pleasure, never a chore .
Here's hoping you'll pop on every now and again to keep us all in line . -

Think we need some more scrappers?
[/ QUOTE ]
You can never have too many scrappers...we're like Cillit Bang in that sense. -
9pm start will be a bit late for me so i'm afraid i'll have to bow out. Have a good time though .
-
Sounds cool, I have a lvl 2 Fire/Rad controller called Atomic Fire Ant I could bring along if that's OK, when were you thinking of teaming?
-
I'd like to tag along. My global name is @V-Rock and i'll most likely be bringing one of my scrappers Panther Girl (claws/dark) or Bennsuke (katana/SR).
-
If I can get my nin/nin stalker "Fateful Blade" up to 15 by Saturday I'd like to tag along. What time? Preferably in the am, 8am onwards is cool for me.
If you are arranging another respec I'd also be interested to take along my lvl 34 corrupter. I'll keep an eye on this topic . -
Had lots of fun with Shen-Lung (my Storm/Dark Defender) doing the Synapse TF, would love to tag along with him on this one.
-
Cool n' groovy task force that one . My first attempt at roleplaying in CoX, and was a lot of fun. Exhausting to keep in character all the way through, wanted to say "kick 'em in the kneecaps" several times towards the end but felt that would have been out of character (my inate Essex-ness coming out there ).
All in all 5 star TF . -

NRG Manipulation all again looks ok with the exception of boost range.
[/ QUOTE ]
I must say I think that boost range is possibally one of the the best power you can get from energy to use with AR.
Why? Cones my friend, cones. AR has more cones than any other, buckshot and flamethrower have rather short ranges (40 feet) with full auto being about 60 feet. Anyone within those cones is potentially going to get hit (though admittedly limited by the 10 mob cap for cones).
Now throw in boost range. It is perma with 3 recharges SOs and suddenly all your cones have 75% further range which equates to roughly (off the top of my head) 3 times as much space covered by the AoE. Less need to set up tight cones as your cones are massive . Flamethrower and buckshot have a 70 foot range and full auto a 105 foot range (thats nudging snipe range)!
I can understand that for blaster sets with only one cone and mostly target centred AoEs or PAoE the effect is less impressive as the increased range does not affect the potential area covered by the AoE, just how far it can be flung. But AR is cone central .
Check out The Master of Cones guide for more information

If there's room I'd like to tag along with my storm defender, Shen-Lung. He should be lvl 15 by Sunday, hopefully higher

Also gone - with no logins at all today until I checked. If Positron does do that to you, remember to bash his kneecaps in with the handy two by four that I know all good forumites keep near themselves at all times
[/ QUOTE ]
Me too, I didn't log in today till close to 6pm. I'd been sleeping off last night at work.
And don't worry, I have my 2x4 to hand, but mine has bent nails sticking out the end.
-
I can allso confirm that the TF has messed up. I logged on and nothing, zip, nada.
This has never happened to me in previous TFs and I hope its not some sinister plan to brainwash us through exhaustion. If so I fully expect Positron to break down my door and cover my face with a wet towel and start beating me with a rubber hose. :P -
Ok, the other task force I am on with Moondog tonight looks like its start is being delayed until 8pm, so as long as we can start at a time I can finish a little bit before 8pm then I'm OK for tonight. Sometime between 6 and 7 pm should be OK.
-
Still asleep at my keyboard this morning
.
Regarding timing for finishing off last night's taskforce, I can make it on 7pm on Friday. I can't do tonight 'cause I have already arranged to take part in the Manticore TF with Moondog. -
There is a confounding factor here regarding the speed of movement of granite tanks...teleport.
Teleport allowed me to grab aggro here with mudpots, TP there to pick up more aggro and use taunt to pick up any stragglers who had lost interest.
TP linked to a mouse click bind is pretty fast to activate so you can pop all over the field of combat if need be. -
It would be warm and fluffy if Shen-Lung, my lvl 12 storm/dark defender, could tag along. How long do you anticipate the TF going on for, as previous experience indicates some kind of amphetamine/red bull combination may be needed
.
-
I'd be interested in bringing along my lvl 32 warshade, Moondog.
-
Thanks for these tips. I must admit that I'm rather green at stalking so hopefully with a bit more experience under my belt the whole experience will run a bit smoother
