  1. I don't know, maybe make Flash arrow a Flashbang arrow, blinding and disorienting mobs so they are blindedm have a to hit penalty and say a 50% chance of confusing minions?

    And disruption arrow, that noise pulse is really irritating so maybe assume it is debilitating and have a chance to stun?

    I know these kinds of changes risk making trick arrow too far into controller territory but they help with mitigating the alpha and add a range of low magnitude mezzes would provide some useful mitigation from alphas and in general and could stack with a variety of controller powers (immobilise in entangling arrow, confuse in 'flashbang' arrow, stun in disruption arrow and maybe chance to hold in poison gas arrow)?
  2. There may be method to the Devs madness in choosing a black dog as the form of the Umbral Beast. "Black Dog" is a term sometimes used to refer to clinical depression.

    It was first coined by Samuel Johnson describing his depression and was subsequently used by Winston Churchhill to describe his own depression (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_depressive_disorder).

    For a set that focuses on fear and darkness for its core powers it seemed rather clever to me when I first saw that the Umbral Beast was a black dog/wolf.
  3. I've been looking to rebuild my parked AR/Dev and read this thread for some inspiration. I've done a build that builds up s/l defense as close as possible to the cap (45.2%) and quite a high energy defense (38.1%). This is partly achieved via the time honored tradition of using mace mastery and scorpion shield. I also seem to have got a respectable recharge bonus out of the build as a nice bonus (101.3% or 201.3% if the force feedback proc in buckshot fires). I would be very grateful for any feedback on the build and how it might be improved.

    I threw that build together based on a low cost build I have planned for a shield brute (as such the powers are not necessarily in the perfect order and can be shuffled to taste). Main emphasis is on set IOs that don't need rare salvage and have fairly cheap recipes. I would think with careful purchasing you could buy this for about 150 mill (although 65 mill of that is likely to go on the numina unique, but is is possible to omit that particular IO and not have problems).

    The build for my own shield/axe tank is given below. Its going to be a lot more expensive but has better recharge and regeneration.

    Shield is a still fairly robust tank that can cap def with fairly modest(ish) investment.

    Build below has capped defence to all positions, 46% s/l resistance (capped when one with the shield is up).

    Similar number of AoEs to /Elec Melee so could track across quite well.

  6. K, this build is one i promised to post for Murky Guard, very nice chap I met on the Mothership raid just now. Its a Shield/Axe tank and its a wee bit expensive but lots of fun, capped def to all positions and resistance to s/l around 46% (capped when One with the Shield is up). I have all the stuff in the build on my shield tank except the LoTG recharge IOs and the Hami-O rech/def/hitbuffs in Active defence (because I ran out of money). This build should have a defence debuff res in the 80% region I think. So...ta da!

  7. I believe that suppressed hide gives 1.88% defence to all, the same value as combat jump.
  8. I've thrown together a build, capped melee (with supressed hide) and high defence for ranged and AoE, high recharge, 24% set bonus to damage and I think a slightly better endurance recovery. The build has a lower hitpoint bonuses (but still hitting the stalker hitpoint cap) and loses some regeneration.

  9. Hiya.

    I was hoping you guys/gals could give me some advice on my dual blade/willpower build below. I have tried to get as close to 40% typed defence as possible (excepting psionics), whilst maintaining some nice recharge set bonuses and regen.

    My single target chain is the attack vitals combo so I have tried to load that with reasonable recharge and endurance reduction levels. My AoE attacks have less endurance reduction (I am working on the basis endurance efficiency will come from hitting multiple foes) but higher recharge.

    Brawl and Boxing exist purely to contain 4 pieces of Kinetic Combat to bolster smashing/lethal defence.

    I can't seem to get the last 2.5 % smashing/lethal defence to push this type of defence to 40% with suppressed hide. Any suggestions on how to do this or any other recommendations would be very welcome.

    Well, if you are willing to focus on hitting single targets you can drop slice and whirling sword, leave out flight and rely on temp travel packs then you should be able to fit in tough and weave before lvl 32.

    Dark Armour

    OG will stun minions only, but if you have a primary with an AoE stun suck as Stone Melee this can be a nice combo as OG+Fault will stun lieutenants and bosses as well. Mobs will tend to stagger around a bit which can be a pain with a death shroud or an AoE heavy primary as your mobs wander off. However, it is cheap to run endurance wise, as accurate as your other attacks and has a small health drain that will not be a problem for a brute (health will counteract it nicely).

    On a brute CoF will fear both lieutenants and minions. It has very poor accuracy and a pretty high endurance cost (the same as death shroud) it needs heavy investment in boosting accuracy and endurance reduction. It applies a small to hit penalty of 5% unenhanced, which will affect any mob hit whether or not they are terrorized.

    Which one you choose is up to you, but for my dual blade/dark armour brute I went with CoF as when fighting bosses I could lock down all non-boss mobs to use as fuel for dark regeneration. In my experience even if run with death shroud, which wakes them from their terror, mobs attack rate tends to fall and being feared they stay put for my AoEs once they are in the CoF. But as mentioned above, it is a bit of an endurance sucker.

  20. If damage were added to tesla cage for defenders this might give electrical assault single target damage a leg up.

    Maybe damage in line with the one defender blast set where the heavy hitting third attack and mezzing power are a single power, i.e. cosmic burst from radiation blast?
  21. In my opinion improving dominator energy assault could be achieved by replacing power push with energy torrent and total focus with energy transfer (removing the health penalty, maybe with weakened damage to compensate).

    This would both increase the AoE potential of energy assault doms and speed up melee (knocking off over half a second from the big hitting wallop).

    The extra slot in death shroud has been filled with an acc/dam scirocco to cap accuracy, damage and endurance red.

  23. Thanks all for the advice, and its made me think that maybe I need to try to approach what I want from a different angle.

    What I have been trying to do is get some defence into my DB/DA build. So, instead of going the positional defence route I have done another build below boosting typed defence. The build below has 33% smashing/lethal (which is present in one form or another in 80% or so attacks in the game, either on its own or in a mix with another type, e.g. lethal/fire) and 31% energy/neg energy (which should as side effect help block most of the endurance draining attacks in the game as they tend to be pure energy based). One small luck should cap the former and almost cap the latter.

    Fire/cold languishes at 18% because I couldn't see how to boost that without sacrificing something else.

    Recharge is a modest 28.8% but to be honest more than half of this is LoTG so I'm not going to rely on that too much.

    The basic enhancement numbers are also quite solid, with the attack vitals combos vengeful and sweeping attacks having 50-70% percent accuracy, endurance reduction and recharge with capped damage. Ablating is a bit aneamic on recharge, end red and damage but this was to fit in an achilles heel and keep accuracy in the 60s.

    The sweep combo AoE attacks (1000 cuts and typhoon) have around 30-40% end reduction but high recharge, and I figure used on groups the efficiency of scale from AoEs shouldn't cause too much of a problem to the blue bar.

    All sheilds have a 60-70% endurance reduction in them, shadow cloak has 33% endurance reduction slotted and death shroud has near capped end reduction and damage slotted.

    Dark Regen has 80ish percent heal and endurance reduction and 70 odd percent recharge. Accuracy is only 33% though.

    I have taunt now instead of blinding feint, and I dropped it because I thought that with fury up the difference blinding feint makes might be quite small to overall damage plus mocking beratement gives some rather nice bonuses. Also taunt is useful to get mobs to bunch up round me for the AoEs. However, blinding feint can be reinstated and not affect my smashing/lethal defence although I would lose some recharge bonus.

    My endurance recovery bonus is 12% with almost 10% added to my blue bar. This is on top of the miracle and numina uniques, and the performance shifter proc.

    Now all I have to do is pay for this thing....

  25. Thanks for all your feedback, and I have tweaked the build some in light of your advice.

    Some good endurance reduction slotting in the blinding feint/attack vitals combo, another end/res HO slotted in tough, one more end/def debuff slotted in cloak of darkness and ablating slotted for damage and a chance for res debuff for good measure. The ranged and AoE defence drops by 2% in this build, so with one small luck would be hitting the cap for melee but just shy for ranged and AoE.
