Man, now I'm getting deja vu. Contradicting canon is not the same as expanding -- the last time "all the villains banded together", Nemesis pulled out his big brass backstabber and laughed all the way to everyone punching him in the face, and then he laughed more back at base because he just sent a roboclone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're faulting a story for saying it "isn't canon", then going on to say what happens in the story has already happened in canon! Which is it?

Whatever you're smoking, can we have some too? It seems like good stuff.

You do know not every story needs to be "canon", right? Why do you think this specific feature to flag a story as "canon" and "non-canon" is coming in i15??

    [ QUOTE ]
Why is this different? Just SAYING it is doesn't fly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And you STILL don't get that YOU DON'T KNOW HOW THIS IS DIFFERENT YET. THE ARC IS NOT MEANT TO TELL YOU WHY. IT IS MEANT TO PRESENT CLUES TO THE BEGINNING!

Seriously dude, give up on trying to pass yourself off as a critic. You're just failing miserably. You griefed the arc. Just own up to it already like a man.

    EDIT:

I forgot to add, please add my honest review of this arc back onto your website. I've noticed that mine and a few of my VG mates reviews have "mysteriously vanished". Please add them back.
  2. It's been fun reading through your post and laughing as I watch you try and justify your grief. I really did get a good chuckle out of it.

Bottom line; you missed and still completely don't understand the story for what it's trying to do.

I find it hilarious and hypocritical that you got this part...

    [ QUOTE ]
As far as I'm concerned, the non-rescue elements in this 'prelude' can be summed up as "There are rumors about a non-aggression pact circulating the major villain groups; even some heroes are supposed to be signing on. Everyone who's tried to go public about its contents has been silenced."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yet totally failed to see this was intended to lead to something more with....

    [ QUOTE ]
Which is pretty anemic given how many archvillains I ran over on the way. I mean, if the freakin' archvillains are just speedbumps in Part 0, what do you do to escalate? If Vanessa freaking DaVore is just a minor nuisance, who's an actual threat?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No [censored] Sherlock! Who is the major threat that has all the villains so scared they are banding together?? THAT'S THE QUESTION BEING POSED IN THIS STORY AND NOT INTENDED TO BE ANSWERED IN THIS ARC. Pull your head out. Are you really that dense not to see that??

    [ QUOTE ]
This one-star is a one-star because it tried to do grand things and, from where I'm standing, failed spectacularly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The sub-text is a prelude to the "grand things" and not meant to be answered in this particular arc. Seriously, my 9 year old son understood this much. No offense meant, but if you missed that much, you're pretty freakin' stupid and need to stop trying to pass yourself off as any kind of "reviewer". You just don't know how to grasp multi-layered content.

This arc isn't meant to provide answers. It's setting up something more to come in future stories, and I'm betting that the romance part is going to come into play later on as well.

Just admit it... you're unable to grasp multi-layered stories, got ticked and frustrated because your crappy ice/axe tanker got his butt handed to him a few times by some EBs, didn't get the answers you wanted in a story that CLEARLY EVEN TO THE SIMPLEST OF MINDS isn't designed to provide them, so you griefed the arc.

Nowhere near a 1 star arc. Just admit you griefed it and move on.

Edit: When we ran this, Nosferatu didn't spawn on the stairs. I just soloed it again this morning and he didn't spawn there either. So penalizing people for bad spawning out of their control is idiotic and clearly shows you like nitpicking just to grief.

Wanted to add this too... stop crying about Nosferatu's spawn point. It is something entirely out of the player control and unfair to penalize an arc that uses this map. You got an unlucky spawn when you ran it.

Here he is spawned at another location . You're intentionally griefing if you penalize story writers for bad spawning. I suppose you penalize them if NPCs get stuck in maps too?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    Question:

Does the description say there are AV/EBs, or are you strictly relying on the player to see that "Defeat Boss" is part of the missions?

    [/ QUOTE ]

IIRC if there are AVs in a mission the terminal will say "Elite Boss". Don't quote me on that as I am not 100% sure... will verify this evening.

    [ QUOTE ]
And, as far as the reviewer missing the point of something or not reviewing correctly, all I can say is that we don't get to pick our critics or how they critique.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True. Some people are just plain stupid and grief for no reason which is why IMO having a rating system for MA arcs was a poorly thought out design.

And the flipside is these "critics" aren't always right either. Just as people should expect criticism when creating a thread asking for reviews, "critics" should expect to be questioned on their rating.

Just because this noob posted 5 or 6 more (to me what seem like drunken or drug induced) paragraphs doesn't mean it is an insightful or meaningful review either.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
My comments regarding "difficulty" stem from the reviewer commenting on "annoying psi AVs", which (to me) is pretty clear indication that they already made up their mind that they didn't like the arc because they could not complete it in 15 seconds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ^ This.

I get the impression reading this so-called "review" this is exactly what happened. The reviewer tried an arc that did not contain the same nauseatingly boring content they are accustomed to and decided to grief the arc entirely. They couldn't mow through it in 5 minutes, so gave the arc a bad rating to grief the author. I guess some people like easy kiddy content a monkey can complete. Sorry, but the missions (even those with the AVs) were just not that hard.

Some SG mates and I ran this on challenge level 3 with our heroes and had no difficulties whatsoever. AND not a single one of our hero toons are "decked out with purples"... most are common SOs since we are redside most of the time. To be honest, fully purpled out toons are not THAT much better than normal.

The story is not at all hard to follow... I mean, between the clues provided, AV chat and even the contact himself spells out what's going on for you, it is easy to see that there is a sub-plot being established with the villains.

I found it enjoyable to try and guess who was behind the kidnapping and what part that played in the villains banding together. We were all guessing it was Torque who had "pulling the strings" once we got to the last mission, and nicely surprised by the clue which said that the scientists report on the virus was a lie. It was a nicely done twist IMO.

That meant someone planted that virus to make it LOOK like it was used to take down the Longbow computers. There was only one person there who could have done it and if you can't figure that out, well then you're just plain dumb. Especially when you go back to what Vanessa said just as the bots showed up to help take her down... she seemed surprised they were showing up to fight her. It was a nice twist to set up the "hero" in the first mission as not what he appears to be... nor does it take an advanced degree in rocket science to see that much.

The one thing which I do find hard to figure out is whether or not she was specifically targeted for kidnapping or was it just out of convenience that she was in the right place at the wrong time? Since the author says this is a prelude to something more, I imagine we'll find that out later.

Bottom line, this "reviewer" (and I use that term loosely) griefed this arc unfairly. It is a good story with some depth to it, which is more than can be said for a lot of the other crappy farm arcs with clones of Ronald McDonald and Pee Wee Herman for fast XP gain.

To give an arc a 1 star rating for using a Longbow minon NPC instead of a Longbow Lt. and quibbling over grammar and map usage is just plain stupid. The story will make sense to anyone with more than 2 brain cells.
  5. Seriously man, you totally griefed this arc.

It's a multi-layered story with a fun series of missions, tough fights, engaging dialogue and intriguing clues to a bigger picture.

A 1 star overall rating is nowhere near justified for this story. Way 2 grief.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Tonight's arc - The Hero Who Loved Me (232417). Verdict - *. Review on MA Forums Thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nice arc griefing there dude.

1 star?? That's not a fair rating at all and you know it. You're either illiterate, looking to grief people's arcs or just plain dumb.

We ran this with our SG last night and it was a lot of fun... more than 99% of the other crap that's in the MA. The story had depth (a couple of layers to it), interesting things happening and it kept us all guessing. I for one am looking forward to where it all leads.

And learn to write coherently. As a reviewer, your posts are very painful to read.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Well... until we see pictures or a name, I will assume it was a well earned generic. I will gladly recant if it was not.

I just don't see how doing a rage-post about it will help anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It helps a person to vent.

I also know all of Shard's toons and none of them are petitionable for infringement IMO. What Cath posted is probably right. She has some cute macros set up on a couple of them that people probably took personally so they decided to be an [censored] and petition her.

Furthermore, Shard has done a lot for the Triumph community over the years. She's been one of many who help organize events, task forces and I have never once seen her badger any noob who asked a stupid question. Of course, if she made a blatant copy of something, then sure petition it. But she hasn't and if you want to see any of them, roll a toon on Triumph and get to know the person you are criticizing. Otherwise, shut your cakehole.

You may go back to your whatever server you hail from now.

Never learned to spell in school, eh? You make the point that the "public at large" is not smart enough to vote.

Yet you only bring this up a month after the rules and guidelines are posted.

Pardon me for not being a forumite and spending all my free time trolling. Furthermore, it does not matter.

And who's saying anyone is telling you who is the best or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Read the post from Rose here where it says:

    [ QUOTE ]
The original reason why we decided that we were going to have the community vote was to help us pick the top 15 videos (we were expecting a higher turnout- but hey! we still have quite a good showing), and from there the P.E.R.C. judges are going to judge based on 4 specific aspects: Originality, Professionalism, Creativity, and Commercialism. We can not expect to hold the community at large to judge based on criteria. We can only be accountable for ourselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you need me to further spell it out for you??

    [ QUOTE ]
You hopefully are competent enough to make this decision on your own, am I correct?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes I am, thank you. So are you (hopefully). So is everyone else who casts a vote. When you go to the polls to cast a vote for some elected official, do you tell someone else who you want to vote for and hopefully they listen to you? No. You vote for who you want.

    [ QUOTE ]
Alas this is not your contest

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it isn't. I never claimed it was. Yet if you are going to run these contests, expect criticism. Not all feedback is going to be touchy-feely praise or pats on the back. Take what you can from it and learn to make future contests better.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Miss Freeze, all you need to do is google Sanjia to answer you own questions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, I don't watch garbage TV, nor do I need someone else to tell me what I think is good or not. My vote is my vote and should count as such. The same goes for everyone else who would like to have their votes decide.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
The original reason why we decided that we were going to have the community vote was to help us pick the top 15 videos

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why? Why not have the community decide?

    [ QUOTE ]
from there the P.E.R.C. judges are going to judge based on 4 specific aspects: Originality, Professionalism, Creativity, and Commercialism. We can not expect to hold the community at large to judge based on criteria. We can only be accountable for ourselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, why? Is the community stupid or something? They won't know what is original or creative or commerical if they see it?

    [ QUOTE ]
The other reason that we are going to be judging is because what if one person does get all of his friends/family and accquaintences vote for them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a joke, right? Why shouldn't family/friends be able to vote?? Furthermore, what is to prevent any one of you from voting for a friend or family member that enters?? The community does not need you to decide which is best. It's great that you want to host an event, but if you want to rig contests, please come up with something better than that.

    [ QUOTE ]
This way we can make sure that all the rules are followed and there are specific aspects that we will be looking for. So, for example, if someone has all his friends come in and vote for him, but essentially made a music video (and I am not saying that anyone did this) we would be able to weed that video out with our own vote based on the commercialism judging criteria. (I hope that makes sense for you!)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes it does make sense. You want to your buddies to win these contests because the community is too stupid to choose for themselves.

    [ QUOTE ]
I don't want you to think that we are not going to take the court of public opinion into account, because it will play part in finding the winners.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Public opinion should decide the winner, not you!!

Nice idea, but very, very poor implementation. You may want to ask yourselves if this is why you had such a low turnout for this.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
well i take it now this will be rigged since anyone not in game nor anything to do with this game like "parents" and "people in dorms" will be voting

i suggest next time getting with ex or light to poll it on this forums to avoid cheating or stacking of votes..at least a valid account would stop the cheating more then it appears to already have been

i wont bother to get involved in another one of these .grats to whomever padded the most.its clear that will be the most likely winner.

sorry this was a good idea but clearly not thought out properly to avoid this isssue and fairness to everyone

you can have this one deleted too..like my last post but it still remains i wont bother wioth you people againuntil you learn to do this properly

    [/ QUOTE ]

I lol'ed. What made you think that any contest run is going to be "fair" before you entered it? Is that lame owl or t-shirt that may not even fit you really worth the aggravation?
  15. No article on the Triumph SG Fair last weekend? It was a lot of fun... too bad there's nothing on it. I was kind of looking forward to reading the writeup.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
This change does not affect PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just out of curiousity, are there any plans to address Defense in PvP on a future date? I'd really like to see a solution that isn't an across the board accuracy nerf.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    NERF FOCUSED ACCURACY NOW !!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only thing that needs to be nerfed with Focused Accuracy is the endurance cost. Any one toggle that costs more in endurance than all other toggles combined is ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /seconded.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
However, nerfing the toggle dropping of the low damage classes (Force Bolt, Thunder Clap, all the Dominator Assault sets) went too far. Toggle Dropping was the only chance these classes had against melee characters...

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the only chance melee AT's have is for their defensive toggles to remain intact.

Myself and others from respective SG's/VG's on various servers have tested this and our consensus was it is a much needed and welcome change. Moreso than any other zone, RV is a team based scenario. The AV and Heavys are a testament to that. If you are looking for solo powers that are 100% toggle drops, those days are passed and it is time to move on. Team with Dominators/Controllers and combine your mez attacks... it's not that much harder now to drop a toggle and teams have no problems dropping toggles.

Our experience is that those players (EM stalkers/blasters specifically) who have adjusted their tactics to no longer rely on toggle dropping are still very effective. Those that relied on them are hurting.

I would take things a step further as a few have suggested here and remove toggle drops from all AT's except Defenders/Dominators/Controllers.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Tanker, Scrapper and Brute Taunt powers will now accept Accuracy Enhancements. Note that these enhancements will have no effect in PvE, as the powers automatically hit PvE targets. The change is made strictly for PvP purposes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow. So now, with builds as tight as they are, we have to decide if our build is pvp or pve even moreso than before!

Very bad idea. I urge you to go back to the drawing board on this one.
  20. Miss_Freeze_NA

    Bodyguard

    [ QUOTE ]
"Two shots instead of one? You've just doubled my life expectancy! I HATE YOU!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just doing some quick tests on this with our VG... based on the total damage, BU + AS + ET from an EM stalker will wipe out Henchman and the MM in 2 shots with bodyguard. That attack chain is so short, you're not going to have time for anything.

We'll be looking at AoE damage next.
  21. Miss_Freeze_NA

    Bodyguard

I don't see a change that will cause already weak Henchman to take even more damage being a good thing.

I will really not want to see my MM get hit by AIM + BU + Fireball or Fire Breath with my Henchman in Bodyguard mode.

The AoE taunt/placate would've worked a whole lot better.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
If you selectively ignore the End cost and toggle-stacking buffs to DA and Stone Armor, the new scaling Dam Resist for SR, and imminent changes to Defense scaling for all Defense sets for I7.

The Devs-only-nerf claim is patently untrue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Many of those changes were necessary due to the GDN of i5 stacking with ED. Sets may not have performed at all had they not made them. There is a difference. When it comes to sets being more powerful/effective, the devs nerf to bring it in line with the rest, not buff everything else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Going to agree with that to a point. Several sets in the game underperformed in comparison to others when it came to scaling, and were also effected by the GDN and ED more than others. The i7 defense buff is a fix that should have come a long time ago.

However, having an EM blaster myself along with blasters using other secondaries, there's simply no comparison. Bringing other secondaries up to EM levels would make blasters ridiculously overpowered.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
CoX will be a better place with EM adjusted.

    [/ QUOTE ]
,said one of the 20 PvPers in this game.

    Leave EM alone, please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but Regen scrappers said the same thing about IH and INV tanks said the same for their passives.

EM is overpowered in comparison to other secondaries in the blaster AT. Things that are overpowered are eventually nerfed.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
There is nothing particularly overpowered about stalker EM.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You're crazy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I second that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I third it. EM so far outperforms other blaster secondaries, it's not even remotely close. Try logging into the Test server on arena PvP nights and just try to find a blaster without the EM secondary.

    [ QUOTE ]
In team play, most AT's are within 30% of one another. The few exceptions should be looked at. Defenders, Controllers, Corruptors and Dominators are NOT at the bottom of this list, by any stretch.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find that very, very hard to believe.

    [ QUOTE ]
Wait, why aren't you nerfing EM?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good question. Since it's not i7, hopefully we'll see it as a post i7 change or in i8. I'd really like my other blasters to perform like my /EM.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
CB, the best PvP'ers in the game play on the test events. Even given the fact that not all high skill level PvP'ers are there, it is by far the highest concentration of skilled PvP players in the game. We don't even have to look at scores, we can look at team composition of the best teams an it becomes readily apparant that Blasters (specifically Blappers) _are_ the melee AT of choice. Scrappers are a distant second, ironically the "best" Scrapper set, Spines/Regen, depends on in part on its ranged attack to be effective. It is true that the recent change to Whirlwind and the coming change to toggle dropping may shift the balance, but currently Blappers are king of melee.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just replying to say that I totally agree. I pvp on the test server frequently and blasters (specifically ice/em) are the king of damage and melee, bar none.

When comparing my Ice/EM blaster (blapper) to my others, this one can fire through its attack chain and be well into its second before my others finish their first.

All you need to do is attend the Test pvp league matches on a regular basis and record the kills. Blasters easily out melee every AT in the game. It's my experience that scrappers are becoming fewer and fewer in teamed matches as well.

I don't see the whirlwind change doing much to upset the balance either. So long as I can drop 2 or 3 toggles in one hit, I'll take out a scrapper faster than they can me.

And the fact that Castle is basically telling people that they should just pvp like they have no toggles is not very encouraging.
