  1. Be on hand anyway if you can, never know when a space might open up! And Arch, it wasn't just you. I won't mention any names. My lips are sealed.
  2. Costumes post updated for clarification. I've got all my costumes done!
  3. Updated! And here are our four costume themes:

Dr. Quaterfield: Doctor Who? Exactly! Put on your stripey scarf, your trenchcoat, or your bowtie (bowties are cool!) or dress up in TARDIS blue - it's a Who-themed TF! If you're not familiar with Doctor Who, do a Google image search for "Doctor Who Costume". Any and all characters from the Doctor Who universe are fair game! Allons-y!

Sara Moore: I'm looking for an Indiana Jones/Lara Croft vibe for this one. Let me see your supercool intellectual - someone who can kick butt and take names, but who also knows the difference between the ancient Mayans and Aztecs. Cool hats optional!

Justin Augustine: You know that one costume piece in the editor you can NEVER come up with a reason to use, but you still kind of want to (because you like it or because you paid for it or whatever)? Here's your reason! I want to see how many pieces from different costume sets you can use in one costume, and still make it look cohesive! CLARIFICATION: Number of costume sets used will probably have no bearing on the voting. What I should have said was "Try using pieces you wouldn't normally use together." My bad.

Faathim the Kind: Since we're working with a god, this theme will be myths and legends. Pick a character from mythology - any myth you like, from any culture - and dress up as that character!

At the END of each TF, I will ask the team to send me their pick for the best costume via tell. You may not vote for me or for yourself. There will be a grand prize of 200 million inf to the winner of each contest, plus possible "honorable mention" prizes!

You do not have to participate in the costume contest(s) for the TFs you are signed up for if you don't want to, but even if you don't show up in costume I hope you'll help us out by voting for your favorite!

Good luck, have fun, and I'll see you in the Shard!
  4. Updated! I'll be pulling from Protector Vigilance and Protector TFs for additional people/fillers if necessary.

Each TF will have a different costume theme. The person on each TF voted to have the best costume for the theme by the other members of the team (excluding myself except in the case of a tie) will receive a 200 million influence prize! That's a chance to will 200 million influence on each of the four TFs! Costume themes will be announced Soon so stay tuned!
  5. The list has been updated! Looks like we've got a great team so far.
  6. Was that for all four, Tiggy?
  7. Updating the list as people add their names to it.
  8. You know, every time I've run this so far I've sworn never to run it again...for at least another six months.

Well, my last stab at this was Black Friday last year, SO...

At 9 am PST/12 pm EST, on Saturday, September 1st, 2012, please join me for the Shadow Shard TF Marathon! I will be running all four Shadow Shard TFs, one right after another, all day long!

Below you will find signups for each of the four Task Forces. PLEASE let me know which TF you wish to sign up for, and give me your global name, local name, level, AT, primary and secondary powersets - for example:

    Quote:
All four: @MissKyo - Arx Invictus, 50, Tanker, Stone Armor/Fiery Melee
I will also accept just global names for now if you want to choose a character closer to the date of the event, but the more specific you can be the better.

If you could also note whether you have Assemble the Team, the Team-Up Teleporter, or even Recall Friend, that would be helpful. I have both Assemble the Team and the Team-Up Teleporter.

Just like last time, I plan on having a Skype call going all day for folks who want to use it. You do not have to sign up for all of the TFs, you may pick and choose which ones you run, but you will have to estimate when to be online for each one because I'm not sure how long they'll take with the additional methods of transport we now have. On top of the reward merits and drops from the TFs we will already be getting, there may be additional prizes to be announced closer to the date of the event. If you think of a question I haven't already answered, please let me know and I'll remedy that.

    Here are the signups!

  9. I'd love for my spines/elec scrapper to be able to trail electricity behind her when she runs as well as have glowing electric eyes. Especially for heroes (and villains) who get their super speed from their powers, it would make perfect sense!

  11. If you run into any members of the Teamsters, House Blackstone, The Strays, or the Spearhead Division, among others...those are all RPSGs here on Protector, and almost all of the members roleplay more or less most of the time. Our coalition is full, and all of the SGs in it are RPSGs.

Granted, we also tend to keep largely to our own little community, but feel free to say hi - we don't bite (usually).

You actually don't need nukes for Dodger. Enough purple inspirations or a couple people with the Barrier destiny will do just fine, as long as everyone on the team understands what's going on and what needs to be done, and gets the job done quick.
  13. It was a ridiculously good time. I really enjoyed it! Even if I did have to be the one to point out the magic breadcrumbs on the map...

Pssst, Speedy. Don't forget to get your Vidiotmaps!
  14. Option #1 is slightly less horrible, but frankly, I don't like either of them. At all. I'd rather have a plain forum skin than have Penny staring at me while I browse the forums.
  15. Massively is doing another Choose Your Own Adventure. If you haven't yet, vote for City of Heroes!

  16. Definitely Protector TFs and Protector Vigilance if you're looking for teaming-oriented channels...ProVig tends to have a lot more general chatter than ProTFs does, and many people will advertise any events on both channels, but they share a lot of the same members.

Being active in global channels is also a really great way to get your name out there so that those folks who tend to team only with people they know and "friends of friends" will be more likely to pick you up as a teammate.
  17. Regrettably, I'm going to have to cancel the Hamidon raids for the time being. I've stopped enjoying running them, and when something in the game feels like work, it's a good sign that I should be doing something else. Sorry to disappoint, all - maybe someone else will pick up where I left off.

    Happy hunting!
  18. See, to me, the male face in the second picture looks like this:

    Missing

    Armorshot and Be Healed. :/
  20. Tonight's Hami Raid is canceled. Sorry all!
  21. I got a dark/thermal troller from 24 to 32...then rerolled her as a dark/fire dom and got her back up to 27.

    Let's see...I also got:

    Beam/traps corr from 36 to 38
    MA/Shield scrapper from 32 to 33
    Bane from 32 to 34
    Mind/time troller from 19 to 23
    Titan/Nrg scrapper from 7 to 19
    Kin/Elec scrapper from 14 to 18
    Plant/empathy controller from 4 to 16

All in all, I played a lot of toons I haven't played in a while and rediscovered some power combos I really enjoy. Plus, I got to spend the whole weekend teaming with some of my favorite people. And it's the beginning of spring break and all my toons are now in range for task forces.

So it's been a good 2xp weekend for me.
  22. I'm not sure I can put in too much on the newer trials, since I kinda gave up keeping up with them after my first attempt at the Underground Trial-it's waaaay too long to be fun for me. I have to agree with Ura when it comes to the sheer amount of time and effort it takes to get level shifts on a toon, though. It's a little bit ridiculous. Yeah, we have to solo path now, and that's great, but it's still slower than frozen molasses to get anywhere on it unless you're popping Windfall every hour on the hour (and even then it's not that fast). I will say I don't mind if people bring flat 50s to the Lambda, BAF, or Keyes trials - it happened a lot when those trials first came out and we still succeeded.

What concerns me is that I've seen in different global channels people being a little rude about the level shifts vs. flat 50 characters. Does it really take so much extra time to say "Sorry, but without level shifts, all the enemies will be +4-+7 to your toon, and you're going to be a liability to the success of the trial"? I understand we're all in a hurry to spend as much of our ingame time gaming as possible, but there's no need to be hurtful over it. Take the time to explain and people will probably be more or less okay with it - after all, the Apex and Tin Mage Mk II require you to have the Alpha unlocked (and preferably slotted) or you're at a severe disadvantage, so people do understand the mechanic.

    Can't Log In?

Mot decided the only way to stop us from taking him down was to take the servers down first.
  24. There is a raid tonight, 3 pm PST/6 pm EST. Bring nukes if you can! See you there!
