  1. Best one I can remember was ghosting through the mobs to the TV reactor once we had the key while my team were mopping up the mobs along the way with a few AFK's thrown in for good measure. Little did I know at the time that clicking on the door to the entrance was the signal for the Freaks to start attacking the reactor. We just entered the 'shield' room only to be met by a bright white flash and mission failed! Oops!
  2. Basically you can't really go wrong with either of them. i use an 8800GT 512Mb on my 22" TFT running 1680x1050 with everything on max in Coh and it doesn;t even break sweat. it also runs CoD 4 at the same res with everything on and pretty quickly too.
  3. Aww no! Well, they always come back, but seeing as you haven't actually spoken to me in months (text me dammit! MSn even! Something!) I wish you well in everything you do from now one, both of you!

    Broadswords...

If anything I think broadsword has the most power customisation options. it certainly has quite a few.
  5. Broadsword: I like the stun idea but I'd like to see Broadsword have a slight Smashing damage element added. Surely it's the weight of the thing that does some of the damage, not like a Katana which is light and sharp.

    Two handed Broadsword animations.

The sword doesn't change size with youe character.

Rename Controller pets is a good one too.

AoE Sleeps? Positively wonderful for kinetics, I use Salt Crystals alot on my Earth/Kin, Fulcrum shift doesn't break them out of it and I can use Stalagmites afterwards too!
  6. I think the Full Auto problem is more to do with high levels of Lethal resistance at higher levels rather than it doing less damage. Besides, Full auto doesn't use all your end so there needs to be a trade off for that.
  7. I don't think so, no, it applies to all windows.
  8. I have one of the first netgear routers as i signed up about 18 months ago. it's had a firmware update since then and it's been very stable. if your connection keeps dropping then get onto Sky about it. Try not to get to angry at the first line suppotr, they're card reading monkeys () but once you've spoken to them and the connection still drops ask to be passed to Second Tier or for a new router.

I bought a copy of CoV from PC world for 97p!!!!
  10. I have Sky BB and have had for 18 months. it's been relatively faultless. In ttoal in that time it's been down maybe 2-4 times, once for planned maintenance which was on the sky website (if you looked hard enough) and the other times was down for the evening but fixed the next day. For the price you're unlikely to get anything better IMO.

While I work for Sky so can be accused of Bias they have won loads of awards for best value BB from uswitch and others.

Check out www.samknows.com for a guide on who does what BB in your area. one inportant thing to check is if Sky have 'unbundled' your exchange. if they haven't you're basically paying Sky for BT's package with is up to 8MB and a 40GB limit. For £17 a month. Not a bargain. If sky have installed locally and your exchange is close by you can get up to 16 Meg and an UNLIMITED usage allowance, and it really is unlimited now, they removed the fair usage clause last month.

My exchange is only about 500 yards away, i get 16 meg and have downloaded at 1.2 MB a second from MS and 700-900 for most other servers. Torrents run great as well, fastest I had was 960KB/s for a certain well known Sci-Fi show.
  11. Damn it must be lonely on the German Server.
  12. So, basically, if you can't attend an event (for whatever reason) and don't fancy doing a PvP based event of any sort then you've got no real chance of getting one? Hmm.

    Fire/Dev - PvP

As I have an Nrg/Dev built with PvP in Sirens with tictacs and the perception Io it's a HUGELY tight build with no room for anything you don't deem necessary in Sirens. I eventually went with SJ so I can stand up high and get a better view of the 'battlefield' and so you can spot SS'ing villains and get a snipe off before they've know what's hit them.

You'll definitely need tictacs, perception IO is also required as many stalkers have hide, stealth and Stealth IO. I've even seen one on villains that has grant invis too and said he's seen others with it as well.

Caltrops works wonders on Stalkers, it's autohit so it'll bring them out of hide straightaway and then you get a chance to get 'em but watch for the Stalkers friends!
  14. They have to make it balanced. What use would a fire scrapper/tank/blaster be against, say, infernal or Dra-Gon? it would make certain missions and bad guys impossible to defeat solo for certain toons. I believe Infernal used to have 100% Fire resistance but this was toned down.
  15. You could always buy an Anti-KB IO but then you need BF's or Burn to get rid of any Immob. The Kn Io works great on my FA brute, resists all but Ballista's and Fake Nem's FF KB powers. Sucks with all the Immob though.
  16. They both have their issues and always have but at the moment, bang for buck, in the midrange ATI wins right now. The 4850's and 4870's are amazing cards but they can run a little hot so make sure your case has good cooling or get one with a third party cooler.

    Merge Servers?

OK, there's a little known fact that's not often quoted.

The Golden age of comics, I'd say, was in the mid to late 80's when comics were really on the up and up. Since then, partially due to some seriously wierd decisions by DC/Marvel and partially to the increasing power of consoles/PC's and to the increasing number of TV channels available comics slowly started almost dying out. Yes they're undergone a bit of a renaissance since due to Superhero movies but they're still not quite at the level they once were.

Thanks to this the majority of comic fans that look back with nostalgia are now 20 and 30 somethings with jobs to go to and families to spend time with. This inevitably leads to the servers being very empty during the day as said people have no choice but to work and look after children etc. They have no time to play CoH during the day. This leads to the peak server times being around 7pm towards 10-10:30pm.

I'd say the average age of a CoH player, both here and in the US would probably be somewhere around 23-28, maybe even into the 30's simply because they have the interest in superheroes from the comics they played. On Wow I'd bet the average age is much much lower, school kids and students will be more likely to play that than play CoH as they weren't 'seduced' by comics and had games to play into their imagination when they were young.

That is the main reason why the servers are very quiet during the day.

As for 2 English language servers one also has to remember that the majroty of non French and German speaking people will likely be taught English at school meaning the English language servers will become the server of choice for them. I know people from South Africa, Australia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and other Euro countries that play on the English servers. It's not just for English people!

A server merge will be EXTREMELY unlikely to happen as this would practically announce to the world that CoH was dying as a game and would, if anything positively announce to the world 'don't come and play our game, we won't be around much longer!'
  18. They're used for one of the TF's as monuments that need to be clicked. Justin Augustine's TF I believe. Most of that one is 'fly to this monument, click it, some back to me, defeat all in cave, fly to next monument' etc etc.

    New PC Plan

The Arctic Freezer pro fitted just fine to my Gigabyte p35C DS3R.
  20. I'd probably recommend an Ati radeon 4850 or perhaps a 4870 if your budget can push that little bit higher.

    New PC Plan

If you're having some cash saved then you could go for a faster graphics card, an ati 4870x2 or GTX 280 which whould make your games fly on your 24".

    New PC Plan

Oh yeah, DDR3 is WAY overated and still ridiculously expensive for the performance increase so i'd stick with quality DDR2 at the moment.

As for the blu-ray drive are you really going to sit and watch films on your PC when it's obvious you have a blu-ray player/PS3 connected to your big HD TV in the lounge/wherever?

PSU's, This one would be more than sufficient for that rig. I have the 520w Corsair and it runs fine and is quiet too. my case fans and GPu fan are noisier.

    New PC Plan

Any Corsair PSu seems to be well liked, they're the FOTM in PSU's.

AFAIK the only game coming soon that support multiple cores is Alan Wake (if it's out within a year colour me surprised). CoD 4 WaW uses the Cod4 engine which doesn't use multiple cores, Farcry 2 doesn't afaik and although Crytek said Crysis does it's such a GPU limited game that it doesn't matter. I have no complaints about my E8400 running stock speeds (3GHz) with an Arctic freezer pro with an 8800GT 512Mb (not OC'd) and every game I've tried (bar crysis again) runs at full res (1680x1050, 22" TFT) with everything on, Cod4 included. This runs at anything from 40-90FPS depending on what's going on.

What resolution is your monitor? This, ultimately, decides what graphics card you should go for. There's little point in spending £200+ on a graphics card or going SLI unless you're using 24" plus. an 8800GT is fine for a 22" TFT like mine, only if I went bigger would I consider swapping the card, possibly for an Ati 4870 or the Ati 4870x2 which is still the best bang for buck card but it would mean swapping your mobo if you wanted to SLI/Crossfire in future but IMO SLI is overated and 9/10 times you can buy a faster card for the price of two cards that'll outperform the SLI'd cards.

    US server exodus

I think people gravitate to killing the boss first automatically, it's just human nature tod efeat the hardest hitting bad guy first, debuffed or not. using an Lt (and tabbing through the mob a few times, I've found that the tab button seems to select the bad guys in the same order for everyone, tabbing 3-6 times often works better than picking the first guy you select) works well. Dark's anchor isn't easily spotted, especially if you lay down a tarpatch as well.
  25. GM_Emily helped us out at 1AM on a failed Imperious TF when the big NICTUS dude died and wouldn't rez for us. Prop's to GM_Emily!
