Yep a good fun session again. Did evaporate when the sides got very skewed one way though. A few of us swapped to villains to balance the villains swapping to heroes but not enough to stem the teetering tide
.

Last run last week was great fun. Will be there again for more cool and relaxed atmosphere and chat. Will swap to villains/heroes depending on sides and balancing
.
Didn't think I'd see smurfs picking people up on names.

i need the Disruptor (400 PvP rep) badge only im allergic to PvP, so i was wondering if those of you taking part would kindly let me enter the Zone, kill you all then leave unharmed
and yeah im joking but couldnt resist...

Some of our guys are running sessions to earn that badge. -
Cool. Actually Thursday nights, 22:00 is just about perfect for us for a nice couple of hours. I'll mention it and am sure those that came previously would enjoy doing something similar again

Mmmmmm... numbers...

Think we need a guy on point /em researching. -
Quck post and thanks to the villains that fought our heroes last night in RV.
An awesome night of running battles and a huge amouint of fun. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Just wanted to post a quick shout and thanks to all the villains there, from all all the heroes that came and fought.
And thanks to Dark Spider for working hard to get some people into the zone.
Hope to see this happen again.

Seems everyone was at it in RV last night.
Defiant RV was the place for an awesome large scale fight war between heroes and villains. Fights swung both ways as people entered and left.
Ultimately it all wrapped up with the telling message "Heroes Win!" across the zone.
Awesome fun and many thanks for all who took part. Big thanks to Dark Spider for a lot of work enouraging people to come and get involved.
Was a great atmposhere. Just plain and simple, fun zone PvP. Very fast, very exicting, and the atmosphere was really cool. Just laid back and friendly and no issues at all.
Heavies were used by some. Heavies were blown up and decimated by others.
Some Pill boxes were taken. Some were taken back.
Couldn't help but feel this really was part way the way the zone should be played.
Would be great to revisit this next week and get people swapping around their alts again. Perhaps get this rolling into a regular scene of battle
.
Thanks all! -
Doing a bit of cross thread/thread necromancy here
.
This was, I felt, the most pertinent comment made in a thread elsewhere:
[ QUOTE ]
There are a lot of new players that have joined the game and i think no matter how frustrating it is being asked something that you dont wanna do i think its only right to reply in a polite way ...
im reading a lot about people getting /tells and invites they dont particularly want, and yes its frustrating but can we at least try to be polite when refusing...
i see on these boards new players asking how to go about getting teams, and we give the answer to ask politely - so come on guys lets reply politely too...
[/ QUOTE ]
This echoes my sentiments really. I just would like to see the villain side a bit more sociable. I know it's a symptomatic of that side of the game, and not server unique by any means. But I just would hope that Defiant is a good server for new players arriving in the game and a good environment for keeping them. -
Team finds Cyst Crystal...
Cyst Crystal spawns Unbound Nictus'.
Team /em's Clipboard...
I don't think so.

[ QUOTE ]
Defiant villains is a rather closed society nowadays with people knowing each other very well, and mainly only teaming with their "regular" teams...
I must admit I'm pretty much the same myself. I rarely team with others than my fellow smurfs nowadays.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally I like to also team outside the regular team mates and vgs, groups I play with in, but each to their own.
Otherwise, is it any wonder what is going on on Defiant villains.

[ QUOTE ]
no, common drops have paid for my last few alts to be fully SO'd up at L22.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, the massive financial strain of level 25 SOs. How was it done all these years?
Wait... what are SOs?
Yes, COT are easy. -
[ QUOTE ]
At least people have begun using the event and the badger channel again on the server. I've seen more chat on those channels the last 2 weeks than the last year total.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've just joined the events channel. Any problems asking for teams on this or arranging them? I'm presuming the people using the channel are interested in such things as "teams" as opposed to the voiceless population of people who have "LFT" in their team comment but never seem to join one or actually have any interest in teaming. Bewildering.
I would like to see more villain teaming. There must be SOME sane teaming villains around?...
... right?
I'm happy to team, and run teams. I'll take SKs of any level, providing I'm running a toon that can handle the mob size and I don't care if you have an SK or don't and instead want some extortionate XPas long as everything is getting a beating and the team is fun

Cysts are a walk in the park for post 38 Tri-form Warshades.
Standard OP: TP in, let the thing spawn enough unbounds for a decent Eclipse, then Eclipse, Mire, Mire, Nova form and blast.
Painless and dealt with in seconds, yet on many pugs it was down to said Warshade to bail the team out of trouble *after* said pug team decided to NOT listen and bundle in like lemmings.
Actually, they're not that hard before then either. They tend to only be Kryptonite to bad teams.

Oh yeah, single targets.
Well my Plant/Thorns has put down single target stuff stupidly quick with Poison Ray, Aim, Ripper and Domination, and it gets more stupid when the -res Achilles heel proc I have triggers and the chances for BU from Decimation and Gaussians Fire Control. Sure getting all of those in one salvo is rare and divine providence but certainly a case of "[censored] was that!?!?!?".
I haven't done any hard testing to check if the -res proc stacks with the Poison Ray -20% res, or whether the BUs stack from Decimation and Gaussian's. I presume they probably would, otherwise I just enjoy the holy [censored] moments when they happen.
I built my attacks so they come in at over 100% damage, 80+% acc and recharge etc. I don't subscribe to perma Domination (unless I get some dumb luck and find 5 LOTGS) so I've gone for nigh-perma Domination to avoid gimping the best stuff in the sets.

For the Assault sets Fiery is the highest damage. Icy and Thorny are about even with Thorny maybe being slightly higher, then Energy then Psionic. Why doesn't Energy do better? well for example, Ripper used with Aim from Thorny does the same damage as Total Focus from Energy, even without Aim Ripper has half the recharge of TF.
If you're just interested in damage then it's Fiery Assault but that ignores all the other things like which sets have Power Boost, secondary effects, synergy with the control sets and so on. Ice, as usual, works out stupidly powerful when you factor in all these other things.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd agree and cite this as the most accurate summation. Besides the "on paper" stats as Filth says there's a lot more to assessing how a damage dealing attack set works. I've given all the Dom' sets a bash to a minor degree on some to much greater on others.
Energy might look good, but I've thus far found it very very clunky, slow and cumbersome to use and not that good a Domination contributor. Conversely Thorns is stupidyly visceral and very fast and fluid. My /Thorny easily out paces /Energy and compartively to some builds keeps pace with Fire.
But, key up Fire and Ice in the right combinations and they definitely shine far brighter.
/Psi I've so far found a bit lacking. Shame, 'cos Mind Probe's a nice attack, and what I've seen of 'Shockwave is very good. Still the /Psi set does work very well for AOE use and I've found it maybe more fluid than Energy and it's a really good Domination builder.
I'd personally queue them up in order as Ice above and beyond all, with Fire slightly over Thorns. Energy a way behind that with Psi perhaps tieing with it, although really I personally far prefer Psi over Energy for better qualities it has than just damage. -
Bots/Traps is a fantastic set and a great fun build to play. There's some great stuff you can do with it. As Maelwys said the really big thing is the amount of +defence you can muster
.
I managed to solo Manticore and Back Alley Brawler with a gimpy RV heavy the other night, and vs a level 51ish Valkryie Hero, I couldn't help but laugh at her weak attempts to smite me. She never touched me once in the whole time it took to take her down, and then do so again after she rezzed and mogged
.
Maelwys has some excellent points and info which I'd agree with and advocate the most (he's been a mine of fantastic information when I've been refining my own build and debating IO sets).
I certainly wouldn't undersell the amazing surviveabilty and siege factor you can attain with both repair AND Aid Other/Self. You can certainly do great things with one or the other,, but you can do *amazing* things with both. For that factor, I would not enhance the heal on Protector Bots. With Triage Beacon, and your choice of damage repair you can handle the damage mitigation a lot better and guarantee a priority heal when your bots might otherwise miss it.

Grats to the SG guys for a top result in establishing not only the top hero group, but also maintaining a vill group in the top 15

Pats on the back all round,... and cracks of the whip. Get on with it.

4.
I would think that your team, and any of the raiders won't mind so much that you're not attacking the pylons so much, as you'll counter that and will make a [censored] load of merits and contribution later, aboard the ship.

It varies with the powerset...
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
Just a note. Saying Dominators are the least soloable class in villains isn't really the whole picture by any means, and IMO not actually accurate at all. It really is dependant on sets.
At higher levels you should be finding that it's a different story altogether. Otherwise somethings going a little pear shaped for some reason. -

Twas pretty fun.

Yep, had some great fun with my Blaster. Thanks for setting this up. More please.

I don't think you'll be able to slot the Decimation Chance for Build Up in a human form power and a Nova power. It's unique.
TBH I'd consider reviewing and looking at getting recharge bonuses.
Warshades benefit a HUGE amount from these, and rack them up with Hasten you could be looking at perma' Eclipse and perma' 2 X extracted essence. More likely 3 on a team with a minimum external buff to you, or if you got lucky and got a few LOTG recharges.
You might want a bit more accuracy in Eclipse. And 'Mire.
I considered the Human Form Dark Detonation to be utter pants and left it well alone. Not a patch at all on the Nova Form version.
I might be missing it, but if you're planning to spend most of your time in human form, I'd reccomend some KB protections from either Acro', or an IO, which in PvE will cut out nearly all KB bar a few things at high level. Fake Nemesis Force Bolts. Psi' mobs with TK blast. Stuff like that. But they are few and far between. Unlike the horde of stuff that will otherwise KB you around Paragon without such things.
Nothings more annoying, or dangerous, than getting KB'd out of a mob when trying to Eclipse or Mire.
-
Not sure about Hurdle and Combat jumping and why the places they are at.
I'm guessing if you took this from an IO planned build, CJ was probs there for an LOTG recharge. Maybe.
But I don't see any use for them in your build here. -
Mind Probe will be *the* bread and butter attack for a lot of levels, and as mentioned, with PSW, and Drain Psyche, etc, a /Psi Dom' is gonna be happiest in that melee range and in the thick of it.
