For fight club:
- On a WP you need to take aid self if you expect to survive long enough to kill anythting using DM as your attack.
- For any fight club toon you NEED a +tohit power along with your build-up type power. If you are set on Soul Mastery that means ditching leaping and going leadership. Also, if you are going to go soul mastery you might as well build for S/L defense as well (which should not be too hard and won't gimp your build on a WP) and take barrier so darkest night is not getting shut off every time you are mezzable. Same goes for RTTC. While you won't have the benefit of elusivity, you can easily build for 30 to 40% S/L defense and combine that with barrier and the -tohit from RTTC, touch of fear and DN and you will be able to keep those two toggles up fairly consistently. If you aren't going to build up some defense there is no point in taking RTTC or DN.
- Ideally you should take speed, medicine, fighting, and leadership/concealment. Concealment if you take body mastery for Focused accuracy. Personally I'd go leadership AND focused accuracy if phase was not so common now. You need phase to chase after other phasers when they're low HP or as an escape yourself.
- Another option is taking earth mastery for the hold which comes in handy and still hits hard, and quicksand. Three layers of quicksand will lower your opponents defense quite a bit if he is not SR (even SR takes a hit) and quicksand also interrupts aid self.
- If I was going WP/DM I'd probably go fighting, concealment, leadership, medicine. I'd build for at least 70% rech, cycle through boxing, smite, shadow punch (with procs in each) and use siphon life as a heavy hitter/hp replenisher (when needed) and take either earth mastery or body mastery. Many peeps are not a fan of skipping hasten but it's doable.
If you can keep RTTC up consistenly a WP tank is very hard to kill, but you are going to need some extra defense to do that combine with your -tohit. Bottom line, squeeze in aid self, and a +tohit power and if you can phase.
Also...Shadow Maul, while a hard hitter, is not a good idea for two reasons: it's slow and getting stuck in the animation can often lead to your death and two it's a DoT. If your recharge is high enough you can go midnight grasp, smite, siphon life, smite, midnight grasp for a decent (although kinda slow) attack chain. As stated above I am a fan of putting two damage procs in smite, shadow punch, and boxing for my attacks. Btw, putting the absolute amazement -tohit proc in boxing is a great way to win a fight because the -tohit is unresistable and fires off at the same rate as other purple procs. -
Quote:One thing that I was making clear to everyone is that we needed to treat our subscribers, past as well as present, with the respect they deserve. I have seen what happens when an MMO decides that it needs "new blood" and doesn't care who they have to lose in order to get it. All that does is show your new customers that you have the power to change the rules whenever you feel like it, and the veteran customers left out in the cold become a lobbying force against new people wanting to try your game.
I wonder what MMO Positron is talking about....Hmm, I wonder what MMO he has seen decided it needed new blood and didn't care who they had to lose in order to get it...I wonder.
I don't really need to wonder. -
Quote:Unique Dragon II, I see you. The second coming of the Prophet is upon us. Hail to the King! The King has returned! You are wrong...I play in Freedom PVP RV everyday. I see, and know what needs nerfing...Psi needs nerf..
If your going to nerf PFF then nerf hibernate...
PFF was NEVER broken...PFF was just that ...a personal force field...much like hibernate, only it does not restore your vitals...yet you can move....To nerf PFF was a major flaw....
Also travel supression is a flaw...If you are a energy,or elec blaster you cannnot advance on target ..You are held for some ridiculous reason....
PFF must be restored to its original purpose.....The game states that it is one of the most powerful defense choices...yet in PVP...PFF is nothing more than a joke...Yet hibernate is left alone...
This is bull....If you are going to nerf PFF, and make it useless- then Nerf Dark Armor,Stone armor,Ice Armor, charged armor and mind over body...Because PFF was the only reasonable Def against stalkers, scrappers,MM's Tanks ,Brutes that are over powered with high end enhancements...Now,since they cried that PFF was to strong the Devs gave in, and they nerfed it....Well in that case Nerf all the other Defense sets for all the other builds...
What has become of originality in this game?,,First it was stalkers with assault strike now its Psi Blasters with Mental attacks....It needs nerfed badly! -
Quote:I would too. However, I think the devs' concern would be players who weren't aware they could turn them off and complaining that their endurance went bye bye. This might have been more of a concern in the pre-inherent Stamina days though.
With free fitness, it is (or really should be) a non issue. If they allowed toggle suppresion then switching to a form would be the same as adding one more toggle (a low end cost toggle that comes with +rec.) If that one added toggle is causing a toon's end to go bye-bye then that toon's build has some problems it was already encountering before/if they added toggle suppresion. -
Yes, I'd happily pay the cost. I never had end issues before pre-free fitness and doubly/triply so now. People who don't care to pay the cost can simply turn off the toggles.
-
I'd like to see:
-Lower Recharge to Photon Seekers (60 secs?) and up the damage.
-Up the damage on Gleaming Bolt, Eyes, and Blast (leave rech/end the same.)
-Allow for toggle suppresion in the forms.
-Lower cast/animation times for form switching. -
I'd be happy with them lowering the recharge and maybe upping the damage a bit.
Ideally, on top of the lowered recharge, I'd like the summon animation to remain the same, with three balls of energy but change it to a targeted AOE. So you summon, and they speed off to a targeted baddie and go boom. That's essentially what happens now if you are close enough to a mob of baddies only their target choice seems rather random.
If they are going to be pets then I suggest making them permanent and give them some pew pew like the new polar lights incarnate pets. And yeah, I don't care about the cottage rule. -
In relation to the topic at hand... "Pitch" begins with a "B"

Quote:If you want to be a menace in zones on a brute take webnades and taunt. You won't slow anything with superspeed (which just about everyone takes) but you will irritate people by taunting them off their target and keeping them grounded.I am curious toknow what is the better epic pool for Brutes in RV since thats the only pvp zone that enables the level limit to use the powers?
I was thinking between Artic and Earth Mastery. Artic Mastery I was thinking it will really help with slowing down villains or Earth Mastery for Quicksand (noticed on Mids it does not require an ACC check) but the accuracy can be enhanced by IO Slow sets.
My idea is to be a menace in the zone and team support so thats why these two Epics are considered. Is it worthy to have either?
Any suggestions, ideas or advice is appreciated.
Thank you in advance -
Quote:I think most Khelds would agree that would be a super awesome QOL feature. And I believe the general consensus to buff PBs would be to lower the recharge on Photon Seekers.khelds do need attention
imho the biggest fix that will go along way would be to suppress toggles once switch into forms..
so example i run the 3 shields, tough, tactics, assault and acro, and the travel powers. So when i switched to dwarf to heal they should suppress the effects of it and the end..
Run around in dwarf a lil heal.. then switch back to human.. like nothing happened... this would help alot.. esp in pvp..
Its like 2 years to reapply everything after i switch to dwarf just to heal.
I'd be totally in favour of both of those. -
Quote:Wow, you have balls of brass.Sounds LOL, but stalker 1v1's in Cage is pretty fun. With caltrops and water spouts it make's it so you can't AS and not play in hide very long. feels like a non-regen scrapper fight. If anyone wants to have a stalker duel hit me up on iMidget's stalker on freedom. Reason behind why stalker fighting seems more fun is cause you have so many different types of stalkers you can bring. it's not a KM/regen or cold/dark or psi/em blaster.. each build brings something different, same with parton power. I've played 10 minute matches where we both where only in hide for about 30 seconds and couldn't AS once..
elec/elec/lev stalker soon to come in the up coming weeks. -
I thought you played for performance :P
And you did not mention anything about PVE in your original post...
"ok so i whipped up this build for zone pvp and built it for recharge, tell me what you think
AND YES another psi/em im not on of the ppl that cares bout being unique, i play for performance"
Making a PVP/PVE hybrid build does not really work unless you focus on single target damage for your PVE game. AOEs are right beside useless in the PVP dictionary.
Generally speaking, your power choices are limited to what's going to benefit you the most in a PVP setting, and since you "play for performance" I sugest dropping the AOEs. Some blasters take repulsion bomb because the stun is longer than it should be but only at 40% chance to go off it's not worth it imo. -

Khledians share the same situation as the PVP side of COX in my opinion. That is, there are not enough people playing Khelds/PVP for the devs to spend resources on fixing issues for the AT or that part of the game. So just like the PVP playerbase, providing suggestions (even some of the well though out, fact supported ones in these forums) for kheldians fall on deaf ears.
That's my perception, and my reality. -
Quote:The tier 4 musculature I speak of is the Radial Paragon (33% damage/-defense/run/end mod/-tohit) not the Core Paragon (45% damage/immob 33% -defense) although PBs slotted for lots of procs benefit from both.Yeah it is funny.. got a scrap to half life yesterday.. then hit ion and before he could he he was dead...
As for the musculature like mercury said the one on the right side that gives you 45% dmg is awesome because.. it allows you to slot up to 3 dmg procs and not suffer from loss of dmg... Now on my pb i have 3 dmg procs in each attack except for bolt which is only 2.. Add that with Achilles heel, and the reactive fire proc and -res + our natural -def, anyone with shields or relies on shields is basically effed..
The longer they fight without interference and you have your 3 heals up you will kill them..
and my build is not even that expensive, so i can imaging the pbs with purpled/pvp io builds.. it must be murder...
Rebirth is the BEEEESSSST THING TO happen to pbs.. To me it always seem that the devs designed pbs to be a lil of invuln and a lil of regen - the good parts so as instant healing and invincible.. Rebirth basically just gave us instant healing .. Although not as strong its still a great heal, and some good regen.. that stacks well with dull pain hp buff.. Right now im sitting on a 800+ heal with essence boost, 500+ with reform essence, and 700+ with rebirth.. and they all recharge fast.. So with added shields I have a pseudo regen, and i still have qflight/dwarf+dwarf heal, and unstop for those o crap moments.
All in all i love these new changes, finally pbs get something.. i love it..
The radial allows me to free up some slots by providing some benefit in other areas (namely end mod and run) beside damage.
My bolt has four damage procs and 59 acc/rech/damage. My glinting eye has 64ish acc, 96 damage, 37ish end/rech and 3 damage procs. The achilles -res proc is kinda meh after finding out it does not affect the damage of the unresistable procs, only the resistable ones. You'll still get the benefit from increased damage from your power's damage but I prefer the unpredictable burst damage from the procs. -
Quote:The tier 3 or tier 4s (tier 4 on the right is best overall imo) will make a noticeable difference in your damage output. You'll have the best of both worlds, guaranteed damage (it's still PB damage though) and the added bonus of proc spikes. Is the damage a lot better with Alpha: Musculature tier 3? I proc the hell out of my attacks and got the Spiritual. I do notice the damage over time differense when I spam attacks, but I wondered if there is a noticeable difference with Musculature.
And for those PBs who enjoy PVP: the Judgement powers, and Lore pets have boosted PB's by giving them burst damage (something the've never quite had even with Incan Strike and Photon Seekers) and rebirth has made them even harder to kill. Reactive interface would be all kinds of awesome if it worked in arena as well as zones (as it stands it is great for zone play.) That's some nice sustained damage, something PBs also needed in PVP.
The -tohit interface procs and some Alpha Slots are not functioning in Arena too. Given that it's PVP I don't foresee any fixes any time soon.
The Ion Judgement power is also bugged in a lolzy way. It's chance to jump from one target to another can jump from the first target to the first target over and over again. AND the jumps are apparently getting buffed from damage buffs (ala build up) although this part I can not confirm. I have seen one single target get jumped by ION multiple times. It probably has to do with the target not getting flagged as already hit or something like that. It's pretty funny to see a tank with 3500 hp get essentially one-shotted)

Quote:Racist.Watching and participating in pvp, in freedom server, inluences me pretty strongly to disagree with the statement on 1 vs 1, arena fights. Right now, the undisputed king of 1 vs 1 duels is a cold/dark defender. A good cold/dark/soul Defender will wipe the floor over and over and over with any Dominator, or blaster, or corr. You want to talk about a broken toon for duels, stop looking at km/regen and start looking at a cold/dark/soul defender. The dubuffs are just too much in pretty much everything you can use, and the super broken soul storm which, in effect, is as broken or more broken then TK (a long hold that does dmg in the mean time, plus you do dmg to them while the long animation plays on), then power boosted everything... you got a recipe for the meanest duelist in arena. The only build that can match toe to toe, if they ever agree to duel, but unlikely, is a Necro or thugs or w/e /poison MM (in skilled hands). The /poison just debuffs so many things from you, and then add Bodyguard mode...
And I want to make note cold/dark/soul over the corrupter version-- stronger debuffs, stronger powerboost debuffs/buffs/heal, and the new vigilance granting a dmg boost to the defender... That's enough to pick the Def over the Corrupter version now.
I have also seen good Ice/Rad/Power controllers beat very good Mind/fire Doms and many other builds except Cold/dark. The slows, the almost perma confuse from AA, and the rad debuffs (POWERBOOSTED) are a bit of a problem for the Dominator and many other builds.
I have seen dark/thermal corrupters beat Dominators and psi blasters too.
In fightclub, with nerf your build option on... err... I mean DR on option, claws/regen is very good and I have seen them beat even KM/regen because claws DPS is so fast and many players get beat just by underestimating claws/ alone. KM/Regen is also very strong, with the burst dmg from KM. WP/SS tanks, good builds in hands of good players, are also very good and almost impossible to kill. I know a few who have had the upper hand even vs KM/Regen scrappers, but most of what I have seen ended in draws. Shield/SS tanks are also very good but it depends on how expensi... err... how good your build is.
With no option to nerf your builds and IOs... or, in other words, with no DR... KM/Regen scrappers are fighting a very one sided fight vs elec/ss or ss/elec brutes/tankers, and I imagine EM/elec brutes or tanks will do the same. I have seen most km/regen who fight elec tanks or brutes get beat in what appeared to be one-sided fights. Elec brutes and tanks have capped resists vs energy and very high resists vs s/l dmg.
SS/fire brutes and tanks are also pretty nasty in 1 vs 1 duels, and with no nerf your build option on, can beat km/regens too.
My two cents from what I have seen in Freedom.
In zones, anything goes. The greatest factor in determining how good you do in zones, is not your build, it's how many players are on your side and the opponent's. For example, you may have a very good blaster build or scrapper... that will mean nothing when its 4-7 vs 20-30, and you are ont he 4-7 side. Your time will be spent mostly in base or rez'ing in base after you get beat down silly by the gank squad. -
Quote:Jack Bauer would not play a stalker. Jack Bauer's victims always know they were killed by Jack Bauer. So I was wondering if anyone had any good idea of how to go about setting this bad boy up I have some Idea but Im not really used to PvP play so all of those Veteran PvPers... Lay it on me! :P I have the combos and stuff I just need the Ideas on what Sets and what Powers are a plus and minus.... Btw Im shooting for the Nerve Alpha....
You have angered Jack Bauer I think. You will definitely know it is him when he comes for you. -
The answer, good Sir or Madam, really depends on what you would like to accomplish with your mgihty and powerful PVP character.
If you wish to enter the PVP designated zones and your goal is to get as many defeats as possible (with the least amount of effort) then heroside I would recommend a psi/em blaster. Villside stalkers get their fair share but I'd recommend a */fire dom. Mind control works great as does earth control paired with fire (energy blast is also decent when paired with mind or earth.)
If you want to disrupt your opponents while your teamamates do the damage then grav/TA or grav/bubbles (to a lesser degree) are great for that. Also, a tauntbot with webnades can be quite irritating.
You'll find alot of regen scrappers and SR scraps running around RV. The FOTM is Kinetic melee on scraps as Concentrated Strike is ridiculously broken for them. KM on brutes and and tanks is next to "lulzy" in the dictionary.
If you like 1 on 1 duels in arena. Mind/fire doms are probably king of the heap right now followed closely by psi/em blasters, cold/dark fenders (or their dark/cold corr brothers.) Various incarnations of therm are also popular.
Playing a buff bot is pretty much a waste of time. Playing a healer still has a place but *meh.*
If you like to be truwarrir and fightclub then KM/Regen is probably tops (paired with leviathan or mace mastery) but I prefer high defense based toons like SR scraps and Shield Tanks for this part of the PVP world.
The bottom line is; Peacebringers are the best. Anyone who disagrees is a racist. -
FYI, I will not be at practice tonight if we have one. I am attending a hockey game. Based on what Terror said last night's was moved to tonight's and we also have one tomorrow. I will be around tomorrow

PFF usually drops your opponent's +tohit to around 50% which is better than nothing when evading. Building for defense on a squishy is a waste of time in PVP. You flatline at 20% but you wil get 10% elusivity. The only possible scenario I can see where that might come in handy would be if you were building a dark/* defender 1v1 build who takes a def shield for elusivitiy then slots for plenty of -tohit in your debuffs. Even then...
-
WS are the wost PVP toon ever. PBs are middle of the road in getting kills but difficult to kill. I've tried coming up with a decent WS PVP build and really the only thing that works is to go nova in zones and switch out to phase when anything attacks you. Arena? No way.

Just to add, you are held for that duration unless damaged. People can do all kinds of non-damage nastiness to you during that time including emotes with tea.
