Players busting farms is one thing, it's something entirely different if a GM is doing it. I am surprised you still play this game. How about some arena?

  5. Admittedly, I can't prove it's a GM. I can only confirm it is not a player teleporting my toons based on lack of evidence in the combat log.

I am skeptical of it being a bug since both of my characters have been TPd when this has happened. I don't farm on Freedom.

As Philly pointed out, the wording is vague when it comes to afk farming. I suspect to give NC some wiggle room to lay down the ban hammer.

I've had to get GM's to teleport avatars around when I've gotten stuck trying to find broken Geometry during beta tests. Their teleports show up in the combat log as well since... hey.. get this: their powers are exposed in the same way player powers are.

I'm going to be blunt. Right off hand your post reads like a sock-puppeting of a thread Moderator08 already nuked from orbit once before. If you have a personal problem with a Forum Moderator or a Game Moderator: take it to private messages or contact the support staff through the PlayNC website. It is against Forums Terms of Services to "call out" or "make accusations" against NCSoft personal.
If not a GM then you explain what can teleport a player halfway across a zone instantly without showing up in the combat log?

As far as the rest of your post goes, I have no issue with any Mod or GM. I'd simply like to know if AFK IO farming is against the rules, and if is not I am curious to know what can teleport a player without showing up in the combat log.

Botting (using an outside program to run your characters) is against the EULA. AFK farming is another story and to my knowledge not been declared as against the EULA.
  8. I can guarantee you it is NOT another player teleporting. Player tohit rolls show up in my tohit roll window (including TP foe, wormhole) and there are no tohit rolls showing up, indicative of GM teleporting. And I know I am not the only one this has happened to.
  9. Hi all!

I am doubtful I'll get a dev response but I am curious to know if AFK PVP IO farming is against the rules (not just frowned upon.)

The reason I ask is I suspect GM's have been going into PVP Zones and teleporting the AFK farmers around to disrupt the practice. They are representatives of NC Soft and if they are doing it, I can only come to the conclusion AFK IO farming is against the rules.

If it is not against the rules, and if GMs are TPing players, then why are they doing it? If it is against the rules, then how come I have not been contacted by CS? It'd be nice to get a definitive answer on the matter from the developers.

*Edited to refrain from making an accusation without 100% proof.
  10. I am unable to copy characters over to test, is it broken again or just me?

There's a difference between sales dropping over the course of a year and half (Issue 13 was released on October 8, 2008), and sales dropping immediately signaling displeasure from the playing base.

E.G. : Compare the NCSoft financial reports from Tabula Rasa's launch / demise, or the SOE financial reports from either Planetside or Star Wars Galaxies, with those made since I13 launched. There's no equivalent steep plunge following the release of something players didn't like.

Trust me, I've been playing games where the devs pulled a Planetside, and massive amounts of players just disappeared. City of Heroes hasn't seen anything like that.

Who cares about overall subscriptions? We are talking PVP here. And as a community it was hit VERY hard by i13. In a game where tens of thousands play, a dip of 350 to 400 subscriptions will be hardly noticeable as a whole, but from a PVP community standpoint it's devastating.

Perhaps this post will not be deleted by our new Mod overlord. My other one was a little more snarky.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I just tend to trust mids more often than not.

And we know the Devs are prone to make patron powers that suck PvE wise awesome in PvP, take Stalker Sharkz for example.

Maybe because he has a dom and checked it out there? If a dom looks at his own power he's going to get dom numbers.

    for defense, it is basically
    Defense in zone = defense * (1 - ATAN(1.2 * defense) * 2/pi * 1)
    (this helps http://www.analyzemath.com/Calculato...alculator.html)
    for 75% ranged:
    x = .75 * (1-(.73)*2/pi *1))
    x = .405

Which seems slightly low but in the ball park, may have made a mistake rounding.
Yikes, so DR hits really REALLY hard 50+. My SR scrap has 55% melee and that's reduced to 37%. So for adding another 20% Donna's only getting 3% more. I think I'd go for some other bonuses...

Civility exists on virtue where it could never on freedom it seems. What some will cal fiteclubbing is really just a smaller commuity of peeps who don't feel the need to try and kill something just because it's there. Duels may and often happen but usually only until there are enough people to actually make for good zone PvP. This is opposed to the super awesome spectacular PvP on freedom that usually ends up in front of a base ganking and spanking the same 2-3 outmatched opponents over and over til they leave and/or rage.

  16. Here's the build I put together. It may be way out of your rpice range but this is what I would use in fight club. I don't have budgets when it comes to PVP toons, so this may not be your cup of tea.

I can't say I am a huge fan of shield defense. It's easier to get higher defense and recharge on an SR. Paired with DM, SR is great for fight club. But if I went shield this is what I'd probably do.

  17. As far as I am concerned fightclub is just melee VS melee. All those other rules (standing still, no insps, no accos, etc...) are kind of silly imo. Although if they are requested by an opponent I'll go along with em.

Yeah I was working on a build last night for you and the best I could get melee defense to was 48%. That's not so hot, on an SR I can get it to 58% which is right around where it should be to be effective.

The difference is Shield's get some resistance off the bat whereas SR only gets scaling resistance. So it's kind of a tradeoff. Still it's probably the main reason I went with DM/SR over shields on a brute.

Looking at your build I'd use that more for a zone build because of the shadow maul and midnight grasp. For fightclub I can't emphasize enough how awesome shadow punch, smite, and boxing are with two procs each.

If you still want the build I can post it after work tonight. I didn't post it last night because I was concerned about the relatively low defense (48%) going to put you around 33% in PVP, which isn't too bad. I could only get to 50% recharge too which I wasn't a fan of either. Meh! Are you set on using shield defense?

I would only take shield charge IF you have a spare power choice and only IF you need it for bonuses (ie: obliterations.)

For strictly fightclubbing as a DM/SD I'd take shadow punch, smite, boxing (2 procs each) and siphon life for your attacks. And only use siphon to heal or as a finisher, not as part of the attack chain.

Other powers from dark I'd take:

Touch of fear (slot for -tohit, clouded senses is great here)

Dark consumption (you will need a +end power for fightclub, plenty of sappers out there and slot with acc rech and end)

I'd take soul drain over shield charge if there is a choice between the two, but soul drain isn't as needed thanks to your fast attack chain building up fury. SD is more needed on a scrapper or tank for fightclub.

    From Shield Defense I'd take:

Deflection (great for the res/def IO and the glad armor +def)
    Battle agility
True grit (slot full panacea if you can afford it)
    Active defense
Phalanx fighting (good spot for a LOTg +rech)
Maybe one with the shield. It's just an end crash so it's manageable.

    Power pools:

    Speed: hasten, ss
Leaping: cj, sj (slightly optional for fightclub, especially if you have web envelope.)
    Fitness: hurdle, health, stamina
    Fighting: boxing, tough, weave

    PPP:

Mace mastery: web envelope, focused accuracy.

I'm at work so don't have access to Mids, maybe I'll throw together a build when get home to show what I would do. There is a bit of leeway for power choices but building strictly for fightclub is pretty easy. Hitpoints, a heal, at least 70% recharge bonus, and maybe an ohsh*t power. Some people take phase, on my SR it's elude, and SD gets One with the Shield. High resists plus high defense works out great.

Your toughest opponents will be toons with high defense (negating your heal to an extent.) So Kat or BS/regens or other toons like your own.

The key to this build is the fast animating attacks (punch, smite, and boxing) so long as you put at least two procs in each attack you'll be golden (preferably PVP procs and the purple and Mako's.)

I'll see about a build later at home.

    Cheers!

Unless you have plenty of cash (billions and bilions) I'd stay away from ice/dev. It requires a big investment to stay competitive. Lots of recharge and procs. As stated above a VEAT would be best for anti-stalking come GR.

A */dev blaster would need targeting drone, tactics, and the +per IO to see a stalker and even then it would only work 10ft away. VEATS are going to be the stalker hunters of choice in a month or two.
