All right, I'll say it - 'cause Statesman was too much of a p***y wimp to let Vanguard go in there and blow out those alien bastards!!!
(Link probably NSFW due to language)
Oh I didn't know you wanted to get in on the discussion Mr. Helper. -
Quote:You aren't the only one. They are a nice addition to the game, but sometimes I think they are overvalued (not in influence/infamy, but in importance or significance).
I don't really go proc heavy on most of my builds -
What about dropping the fighting pool and picking up maneuvers and tactics since its defense you are worried about that will free up a slot to put fly earlier in your build and allow 4 epic powers?
-
SS/Fire and have your fiance roll a dark/kin so you'll have an aoe immob for burn pre patron pools.
-
The recharge in fissure helps it beat out fireball for a lot of people. I'm no numbers guru but if I recall when you break it down for dps it actually edges fireball. But since flight is important that argument is moot anyway. Yeah, ice is tricky but given that frost breath is a cone it can fill your aoe needs while ice storm is recharging. It's "not the same" but an option.
-
Oh and I guess I should have said, my plant/kin has the power mastery pool. Since hitting 50 I haven't done her final build, and I'm not 100% sure I'm sticking with power as I really need to run everything through mids and see what direction I want to go with it.
-
Fissure is a stomp power, I can't say for sure, but I think you do need to be grounded. If that doesn't work for you ice offers a good def shield and the cone of frost breath and Ice storm for aoe goodness.
Edit- City of Data doesn't say you have to be on the ground for fissure, I'll go test it live and see and let you know. I have it on several trollers but the ones that have it us leaping pool so they are always grounded.
Edit of Edit- yes you do have to be on the ground, so maybe either go CJ instead of hover or take a look at ice mastery. -
The easiest answer is fire/kin/fire or stone or psi
Other options: plant/kin, mind/kin, ill/kin, mind/ff, plant/ff, ill/rad, plant/rad, fire/rad, fire/cold....fire with most secondaries actually. /storm is also nice paired with fire, earth, Ill or plant. -
If you are going for defense bonuses and using weave and hover, why not go with earth or ice mastery and stack with their defensive shields.
Also fulcrum shift seemed way under slotted. Even though you have a nice acc bonus I'd still like some acc in it. You don't want to hope FS hits you want to ensure it does. -
Cyborg Anna pwns even more. Gratz, on leveling up, Anna!

Agree with a log of dave and sweet's comments so I won't repeat. Earth/TA is a beast on large teams with large spawns with lots and lots of aggro, cause it can handle it. Anything less really you are swatting flies with a sledgehammer from a control stand point. If you like big bad teams with big bad spawns, make an Earth/TA. If you want to solo, maybe think about another build. You can solo safe, just not terribly fast and there are other controller builds that do it better.
-
Well, in my experience with controllers and dominators it's very true. No matter the makeup of a team, with proper aggro control (from the controller and melee types), immobs have no/zero/nada effect on survivability.
-
My illusion/cold got the same thing with blind as well.
-
With a good meleer on your team, aggro shouldn't be an issue from any power.
-
Keep in mind sweet, there is a difference between saying you "can skip" something and you "should skip it"
-
I'm guessing you've only done AE's and newspaper/radio missions so far. Yes, the game is full of story arcs.
-
Hmmmm. I'd like to finally get a my tank to 50 (43). (yeah yeah servere I said it) I have several toons in the 35-44 range, so I'd like to push them along I guess. Maybe level up a few new blues and reds.
-
I'll go right out and say it. On an Earth troller I think you can skip earthquake and still be very effective. On and ice controller though I don't think you can skip slick and still be very effective. And I think those comments speak volumes about the two sets, well mainly that ice is primarily a one trick pony. The fact that its aoe immob negates its one "good" aoe control power also points to a weakness in the set for me personally. Think about it. earthquake on my earthies is probably a third option...what is slick on ice?
I've tried ice a number of times and it always leaves me...........(get ready for it)..........cold. (And yeah I do know it has great secondary effects I'm just talking about the primaries primary controls) -
Quote:Why is that? Defenders shield and debuff as well but you took those powers.
The other few powers that were essentially duplicates of Empathy set powers I figured fell more to the role of any Defenders on the team to handle -
Did you double post or am I missing something?
-
Unless you are building a farmer, I don't see putting tough into a build. With controls and debuffs a controller is fine with an epic shield (if any at all) alone in most cases in pve.
