Quote:I have a regular team, so I rarely solo with mine. Overall it's a very solid team contributor, but as I said before it's pretty darned clicky. When I have solo'd, it's done fine. The combination of the big bubble and psi shield and IW (or any resist epic) makes it a really sturdy build. I'm not so sure the lack of disruption field solo really hurts it, to be honest. Nice to have but far from gamebreaking.I'm curious to hear a bit more about Mind/Sonic. On paper I don't see much synergy between the sets and it appears to be a very weak solo'er, though I may be overlooking something. Losing out on its best debuff when solo seems like a pretty significant blow against it. Bear in mind, I have played a mind/emp, which also loses out on a lot solo, but the powers that remain seem more useful than what you would find in mind/sonic. If nothing else, I do like the way the visual from mind and sonic mesh.

Quote:Great how he went from mean and angry because of his father, to sad and regretful and then to actual happiness thanks to the Doctor and finding love and then back to mean and angry because he had to grow old without his true love. The subtlety and slow reveal of that sure was some fine acting.Nothing short of brilliant. That character has to be played with two extremes, but done in a subtle manner as to not make a complicated character appear as a lunatic.
Regardless of what one thinks of Moffat's continued abuses against the time travel mechanics, this special is one of the finest christmas specials simply due to Gambon's excellent portrayal. -
I really don't get the fighting pool, especially weave in this build. Especially considering you didn't take an APP shield. 35% ranged defense isn't worth this build, sorry. Build for a controller first, then you can play around with trying to be "tougher". Steamy mist is underslotted. QS is overslotted. Consume is mostly a wasted power choice in my opinion, it's recharge is too long to be helpful. Rise of the Phoenix is pretty meh, but given inherent stamina now, I guess I get it. I just don't get why you didn't take an epic shield over at least one of those two powers.

For us statesiders.
Really enjoyed the Dr. Who at the Proms. Looks like everyone (the audience and the cast) had a ton of fun. The regeneration segment was especially good. -
Yeah the two sets are so heavy in mitigation it seems odd that you feel useless.

Of my lvl 50 controllers these seem to fall in with the OP.
Earth/TA- hands down best aoe control I've played. It's a fun combo, endurance friendly and one of the few sets you can turn off the team window and just play.
Illusion/ Thermal and Cold- both sets fun to play, very team friendly and the lack of clickiness of illusion makes up for the clickiness of the secondaries. Use therm for less than optimal teams or with teammates that tend to need healing even with shields on them. Cold is great for a well balanced team, that needs little more than shielding. Also good for when you are going for "big game".
Mind/Sonic- a surprisingly powerful combination, but uber clicky. Prepare to be worn out playing this one. But fun. -
Gratz! I Finally hit the 2 billion mark from marketeering myself just yesterday. I would have hit it a lot sooner but I used a good chunk of the proceeds IO'ing out many toons (I'd typically get to 1.5-1.7 billion then a new toon would need some inf love) Also my niche dried up for a bit after the merger, but has come back gangbusters! Patience is a virtue.

Fire/Rad- I believe forum poster, Silverado has taken down every AV and GM with his. He would regularly post screenshots after he'd take a new one down. No temps and no inspirations too.
Fire/Kin- I know I'd beaten a few AVs solo with mine.
Fire/Storm and I'd guess/Cold- pretty sure they can take out av's.
Since you originally asked if controllers could beat AVs: Illusion/storm and rad and cold.
I know my Ill/Therm could stalemate giant monsters, but I never tried AVs. My guess is that wouldn't be too difficult.
And while it would be much harder from a damage standpoint, I'd venture to guess that someone out there could build even with some of the other primaries and secondaries. -
Were you on a team during the raid, Ironik?

On top of restarting you can try deleting the checksum and .prv file, then relaunching the updater. Worked for me yesterday.

I'm having a hard time understanding how this build is 1. an AV killer build and how 2. its better on paper than earth/rad at the task, given that it doesn't have any -regen and is weak on single target damage. Just throwing the most expensive IOs and sets at a build does not make an AV killer. Maximizing single target damage and good endurance usage and recovery as well as appropriate debuffs (specifically -regen and -resist) helps with tough single targets like AVs. I'm not saying it won't kill AVs but built as is I'd think a similarly build /rad could handle the task as well if not better. (It has +Recovery +Recharge +Damage power (AM), -to hit -def -resist and -regen debuffs (RI,LR and EF) as well as a self heal (RA) ) all of which make AV killing easier.
Also, if you aren't going for specific set bonuses, why slot fossilize with an Acc/Hold Glad Net IO? Just because it's expensive doesn't make it better than any other Acc/Hold IO of similar level. Also if you are going for AV killing you need to completely reprioritize your slotting. You need single target damage. I'd assume that you are slotting ice storm with Rag. for the purple bonuses because as a power for AV fighting it's not going to be very helpful. Fossilize and ice blast need to be slotted for damage and more than just the two slots you've given to them. Slotting overall needs to be rethought, i.e. a slow set in freezing rain.
If it were me and I just wanted to make an AV killer, I'd go with a different combo: Ill or Fire/Storm or Cold or Rad. Unless you just want the challenge of earths low damage output. -
Quote:I understand your frustration, but I was just giving out information; no need to lecture the messenger.the problem doesn't reside on the target server, it resides on the logon/patch server. some folks are getting on fine, but they also had a patch pushed to them when they logged in, alot of us have not, that is the issue. without the patch, the target servers will not let us in.

That's exactly what I did. I got through him easily enough; not really the point I was making. I was just saying that his regen (pre bifurs going down) seems to be higher on a solo run than a team run.

Quote:I can't say for sure, but it seems that solo -regen powers don't seem to phase him while his bifurcations are out. I ran it solo on my Illusion/Cold and with benumb, could never get him below 75% health (even in lava), but as soon as I took out the bifurcations he went down fast as any npc. But while teaming he went down super quickly without even thinking about his bifurcations. And sure with a team you have increased dps, I know, but when solo I swear he had av/gm type regen even after a thorough set of debuffs from a /cold controller and even with PA and Phantasm and lava in the mix as well as my attacks wouldn't even seemed scratched. Could be perception, I don't know, just something I observed.FWIW, the same issue that prevents you from dropping the mission also prevents you from accessing the option to abandon the arc entirely while that mission is active. I was unable to test the hypothesis that Trapdoor becomes unkillable if you had the mission open during the patch.
I was, however, able to finish it on the affected character by tagging along with someone else running it. That character's mission was not affected by the bug I encountered, and I am now pretty much convinced that it was a bug. Trapdoor was downed, my -regen powers worked as advertised on him, and all was well.
I am more convinced than ever that Trapdoor was bugged somehow in my mission, even if I now lack the ability to duplicate the circumstance. An NPC that depends on regeneration is something that a rad, even a rad defender, should be able to defeat.
