Quote:You mean the one where the brilliant scientist didn't think to get the security footage of her and her husband using their powers in the Big Bad's lab?Ok.. while I like this series...
OH COME THE FRACK ON WITH THAT LAST SCENE?!?!?
And yes, mousedroid, it's still on. HULU has all of the episodes, if you want to get caught up. It has it's "family show" moments, but there are some pretty decent super hero moments as well. The mom's assistant is usually a good source of comic book references and humor. Those turned off by teenage drama may have to endure a few minutes here and there, but I think they show the powers well and the super hero storylines aren't too sanitized. I'm still watching. -
On Saturday we ran one of our Guardian server All Controller Task Forces that I organize. We finished the STF in 1:20 with only 2 deaths (both preventable) and were so pumped up we ran to the RWZ and finished a Tin Mage in 45 minutes.

Winds of Change! -
Only one real "horror" story from the WSTs. 4 hour LRSF ending with no victory and the team giving up. They were all nice players and there wasn't any real drama, poor play, afk'ers or anything like that. To everyone's credit nobody quit until everyone decided it just wasn't working; no name calling or finger pointing. The team was pretty balanced and all pretty knowledgable in the SF, just something about it didn't work at that time. Every other run on either WST was successful and all in relatively short (or acceptable) time.
-
On one of my runs this week, I did notice the flyer being "stuck" over Recluse for a while. We eventually pulled it away but it did take some time. I haven't noticed this behavior before, but then again it only really happened once in what were multiple runs this weekend.

Quote:This weekend Guardians All Control Task Force finished the STF in 1:20 with only 2 very avoidable deaths. We had so much fun we ran straight for the RWZ and completed a Tin Mage in :45. Tanks? We don't need no stinkin' tanks.
People have a stigma that you need a tank on the STF. Preferably a stone tank, and they try to shy away from too many melee toons because of GW (hard as heck to get on a STF with a scrapper). When in fact some scrappers as well as some controllers can tank him effectively. Then there is also the option of just ignoring him and taking out the towers if you have enough support.
These TFs are a lot less complicated than players make them out to be IMO. It is for this reason I think it wasn't the best idea to make them the first WTF. A better choice would have been LGTF or ITF which all 4 alignments can partake in. -
Quote:That's not elitism that's just plain ignorance. I ran several STFs this weekend with a friend tanking with a WP tank and he did just fine. All I try to make sure of is that an STF team I'm leading has a couple of debuff types and I'm not terribly specific in what it has to be. I'm also the type that puts my money where my mouth is, if we "need" a particular "type" of toon, I'll just get one of my own instead of kicking anyone. But the truth is most attempts can be successful if you just know how to adjust strategies.I got invited onto a STF team with my WP/SS tanker
After the leader accepted the TF, they told me that there was no way my tank could survive the TF, but they'd allow the team to vote on whether I'd be kicked or not. Quit as fast as I could
After quitting the TF, I sent the leader a tell to let them know the tank already had the Saved the World badge. Had obviously survived the TF. And that it was their damned loss
Elitism is an ugly thing -
I don't see how you say you want Perma PA then put zero recharge or minimal recharge from recharge intensive pets in the power.
Edit for correction, Thanks Local for pointing out my error but the sentiment is still the same. -
The Cap trailer surprised me. Much more excited about it now.

I'd like to thank all those that came out for the ACTF. It was quite possibly one of the best ACTFs I've seen. We were able to finish the STF in 1:20 with only two deaths, both of which could have been prevented easily. We had so much fun we ran over to the RWZ and finished a Tin Mage in just :45! I think this may be the direction we take them in the future; if we finish the WTF quickly we'll run an Incarnate TF afterward.
A great time was had by all. So thank you to:
1. Mental- Flash Frozen Jen (Illusion/Cold)
2. LocalMan- AreaMan (Ill/Rad)
3. CMA (Ill/Rad)
4. Celtic Coders- Celtic Inferno (fire/kin)
5. BBT- BBT(Mind/Emp)
6. Draconis- Mysterious Cowboy (Grav/Storm)
7. Mrs. Draconis- Make Believe Hero (Ill/Rad)
8. Siluria- Siluria (Mind/Kin)
Be on the look out for the next ACTF!
[Note-something screwy happened with my screenies, so if anyone has some post away. Edit-Thanks BBT!] -
Quote:Oh, don't worry I didn't take it as anything but friendly discussion anyway. This is a topic (music, not just metal) that I'm very passionate about and enjoy the heck out of discussions like this. It's all opinions from my side anyway, so they are all to be taken at 100% face value.Mental Maden, I hope you don't think for a second I was aiming anything at you. I had YouTube comments, friends comments, etc. in mind when I mentioned nostalgia vs an artist's progression. It was a general comment that relates to anything with me.

I do disagree wholeheartedly that Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning and the Belladonna Anthrax sound dated though. To me, those are all timeless albums and when I put them on, the last thing I think of is "dated". Ok, some of the production value (especially Kill em all) are rough, but I think the music is still as vital as stuff done today. My personal favorite album of theirs is Kill Em All, mainly because I came into being a metal fan by way of the 80's California hardcore punk scene. So the hardcore overtones of that album appeal to me to this day as does the first Garage Days (do NOT even mention the 90s re-release!) . (And if you haven't ever thought of the punk overtones, take another listen) So on that we'll just have to respectfully agree to disagree.
I'll admit I pretty much gave up on them a few years back. Some Kind of Monster was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I've only had a cursory listen to Death Magnetic on iTunes after someone in another thread sang it's praises. I will say what I heard from it was good, but I'm still not convinced (but I do have an open mind) that it's as classic as many let on. When you've put out the dreck that they have since Load, I'm sure anything close to the mark sounds like the angels singing. -
Quote:I would agree that the Chili Peppers' evolution has been successful. In fact some of their latest work has been some of their best. I'm a U2 fan going back to the days of October and War and yeah they've evolved and changed, but they have had their share of misses. I loved How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and thought they'd truely come back to being the great band they once were, but I was heavily disappointed with No Line on the Horizon. But with both examples we aren't talking metal though.I would like to think that all bands with longevity will evolve (or devolve) depending on the band in question. Some bands enjoy a resurgence (Duran Duran and their "Wedding Album" CD for example). For Metallica, the turning point was ...and Justice for All. That was the end of their "speed metal" days and they evolved into a more "mainstream metal" band. The quality is still there, just the evolution of their sound (again for better or worse).
The Red Hot Chili Peppers were another example of a band who success came after several albums of work and an evolution of their sound.
I am a U2 fan and they are almost the poster child for evolving. Take their early work which was heavy on the drums/bass and when Eno/Lanois came into the picture, they developed their sound and their biggest success followed (The Joshua Tree). Then, they re-invented their sound in the 90's (Achtung Baby). They are not the most technically talented individuals, but as a band, they play on their strengths and create some great music (IMHO).
Well...back to the grind
I don't begrudge any long term band or evolving, but I do think with metal that the power comes from youth. I'd also argue that it was Metallica's Black Album that gave them their mainstream success and that And Justice for All.... was merely the precursor yet still contained their basic song structure from their earlier albums. Despite the much criticized mix I still consider it the "old" Metallica. -
Quote:I'll take Master of Puppets 100 times over before another Load or Re-Load. And don't get my post wrong, it's not all about nostalgia. Plain and simple Kill, Lightning and Master are better albums. And yeah I get that bands mature and their styles progress, but that doesn't always make them better, IMHO. Personally, when it comes to metal, I want my bands young, hungry and angry. Once they become mature, wealthy and popular I think they let their wallets do the song writing before their angry metal hearts and I think the music suffers. Personally I prefer the Belladonna version of Anthrax, so it's less about where the music went and more about the lineup, Testament has seemed to put out pretty consistent music, but they've never had uber fame get in the way of their music. And these are of course, just one person's opinions about all of this; I don't pretend to be the all knowing Metal expert, I just like the early stuff, from a listeners standpoint more than the later. While I am a fan of the 80s metal scene, I am also a fan of where these bands (Anthrax / Testament / Metallica / etc) progressed to later in their careers. I have a problem being nostalgic, and feel we can't have copy after copy of "Master of Puppets" and any other great metal albums.
.. -
I've talked extensively in some threads about the subject, but if you haven't listened to Metallica's Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets, you really haven't listened to Metallica. Yeah, yeah the Black Album made them uber famous, but real Metallica is the early stuff.
Also try these albums" Anthrax- Among the Living, Testament- Practice What You Preach or Pantera- Cowboys From Hell. -
Yeah, that's exactly my thinking. While two can handle it, it's always walking a fine line that despawning causes a change in aggro. With a third you can overlap without fear of downtime and losing aggro is a lot less likely to happen. I don't expect it to go flawlessly, we'll probably have at least one wipe on recluse, but one things for sure, we'll have fun doing it. I also think the level shifts on your toon will help out a lot as well.
-
I'd like your Ill/Rad if that's ok. Local volunteered you by the way.
-
Given the release of the WST (I prefer WTF), I think that would be a nice place to start back before we start tearing into the Incarnate TFs, plus it will give some people opportunities to get a level shift (or other alpha slots).
So this week we'll have the first ACWTF (All Control Weekly Task Force)!!!
(As most ACTF vets know, I typically do not require any particular builds for ACTFs. The only exception is the STF. While a team of controllers can steamroll 99% of this task force, things get kind of tricky once Recluse comes into the picture while he's buffed. We then realized that 2-3 illusion trollers can keep him occupied enough while the rest of the team takes out the towers. So I've talked to a couple of ACTF illusionist vets, and pending their confirmation, I have the three illusion trollers taken care of. If they can't make it the slots will be filled with the next illusionist who volunteers. The other slots are simply first come first served to any controller or dom that would like to participate. Given this is not an incarnate TF, alpha slotting is not required. The only requirement (outside of the illusionists for this TF) is a controller or dom that is level appropriate and a player that wants to have fun!)

Something tells me you weren't the only one with a situation like this yesterday.
-
I'm not so sure I'd classify any controllers damage as "serious" outside of /kins and even then just invite one blaster onto your team and then see how serious damage can get.
I think you may be a little confused on the psi APP. It has MoB which is a resistance based shield that has resists not defense for smashing/lethal and psi damage. It also has Indomitable Will which is a clickbased power that is mezz protection with a little psi defense thrown in. But you don't really take the set for psi "defense" per se. -
Quote:Oh, it was in no way a prediction. As I said, it was just my wish for the frachise, but I in no way think it would happen that way.Last I remember, DC doesn't have any plans on connecting their movie character's universes. They *could* do it, of course, but last I remember they've publicly come out against it. Prolly just waiting to see how it works out for Marvel before they change the way they approach their movies.
[Sidenote rant- I'm getting pretty sick and tired of typing out a post only to have the forums eat it and forget who I am. Fix the forums!] -
I don't have a playlist or anything for regular playing. Whatever I'm in the mood for from Sirius radio is always playing in the background. Usually it's Sirius XMU but when the mood strikes I'll put on First Wave or even Liquid Metal (/ devil horns!!!!). I do though have one music ritual that came out of my early days playing CoH.
I started playing CoH (my first MMO) in Aug 04 and that first Christmas we had a bad snowstorm and I wasn't able to go home and see family. So I ended up alone on the holidays playing a lot of CoH. At the time I was pretty obsessed with the soundtrack for the movie, Garden State and was playing it rather heavily at that time. It was over that Christmas "break" that I saw the true value of playing an MMO: the community. Logging on I really didn't expect to find anyone else on, let alone people I knew ingame. But they were there and I found myself with plenty to do and that always left an impression on me. So a few months down the road when my namesake was about to hit 50 I decided I wanted to play music that made me think of the "road to 50" and I automatically thought of the Garden State soundtrack. So since that first 50 and every one since then (yep, all 21 times), right before a character dings 50 I put on that CD and I'm taken back to that Christmas and reminded of how it felt back then and how much I enjoy the game and the community.
