Quote:No, actually, it wouldn't. I never said it would be *easy,* which tends to be what the SCR deals with. Just that they wouldn't need to run through a third party and be reliant on their not-really-emulation layer/wrapper. (transgaming.)but the idea of doing that would run up against the standard code rant.
It *would* be a lot of work - quite honestly, they'd probably have to write at least 3/4 of the game from scratch, and probably do some more hiring. So if they started anything *like* this, it'd be more likely for a COH 2. -
Wouldn't argue, but I can think of two possible issues:
1. It'd make a mess of the map. (Just imagine a team of four or more... and *all those triangles!*) And
2. Potentially server load. I'm not sure how much goes into tracking the "last few mobs" or whatnot and displaying them, but it *might* cause too much of a load. I'm obviously not in a position to say, though.
#2 would be the biggest issue, IMHO (since if it were a toggle, you could just shut it off.) And if it's not an issue... hey, why not. -
Quote:/this.Your knowledge abouts Macs is so good.
Macs use the same damn processors and etc. as a PC. The difference is that they can run Mac OS X (Pcs too but that requires doing some stuff that the average user may not want).
Pal, it's not that 'macs aren't good for CoH' - you're being ignorant here. It's the client that's a bloody mess.
The hardware in some of the iMacs beats my work/backup system, hands down - and that system plays COH just fine. Not with all the graphics turned up, of course, but plays it pretty well.
The mac client - and I *believe* we were told the issue was partially with Cider, which means they have to work with Transgaming - has problems at the moment, as I recall. But it's not from "teh max suxor." A real, native OS X client (as opposed to game-in-a-wrapper) at least would keep them from having to work through a third party (and wait for any fixes from *them.*) -
From Luminous Blast:
Either Gleaming Blast or Glinting Eye.
Pulsar
Glowing Touch
If you don't like nukes, Dawn Strike.
From Luminous Aura:
Thermal shield
(The shields themselves tend to go down in priority on a triform. Thermal's lowest, then, IMHO, Quantum and Shining. Optionally, take none.)
Group Energy Flight
Considerations:
I tend to like having QFly available, and it only needs its default slot.
Some people don't care for conserve power. (I tend to use it.)
Haven't played with Q. Acceleration yet. No opinion there - I don't actually see myself respeccing into it, though.
Restore Essence - I like having a self rez. Not everyone does. Select to taste. -
If you happen to have any server transfer tokens, you can use that to find out fairly quickly if you have characters somewhere. Roll someone, start the transfer, cancel it when y ou get to the screen telling you how many free slots you have.
Of course, if you don't, I wouldn't spend money/points to find out, so #1 would work - perhaps make it an on-screen checkbox ("Show number of characters on server") if people are worried about clutter. -
You'll always get that on the ID, tailor or character select screen.
If you're running Windows 7 (think Vista has this too,) use the Snipping Tool - start it up, tab back over, select. Alternately, Fraps (and others) will do still capture as well as video capture - grab that.
(Edit - come to think of it, I haven't ever tried capturing the new ID screen.) -
Hmmm.
Early MMO attitude = "PAY for a game after I've bought it? And keep paying? That's stupid." So I didn't bother looking at any. Wife (at the time) seemed to want to play EQ, but after giving it a quick look, decided against it. (Think I still have that disk around, somewhere.)
Got into playing Silver Age Sentinels in a rotation of a few other RPGs with some friends (All Flesh Must Be Eaten, D&D, Shadowrun, etc.) The SAS game was put on hiatus... I believe when one of our group ran off to join the army. Probably a good thing - if that character (Tristat system) had kept getting developed, I'd probably have to roll a few hundred dice at a time to do much of anything.
After a bit, I wanted something "related to" that to keep playing that character in some form. Tried Freedom Force... which didn't quite do it for me, not for what I was looking for.
Ran across the COH Collectors DVD in Wal-mart. Still thought a monthly fee was a dumb idea, but hey, it had a free month, I can screw around with it.
Tried recreating my SAS character as best I could (which didn't quite get there until Tanks got Dark armor.) That would be Issue 3, Feb. 2005... Haven't left. Tried other games, found I hate losing a look because gear needs upgrading, or grinding to *buy* skills, or having "Fighting two enemies is suicidal" as a given, or *having* to have the "holy trinity" around to get anything done... ugh. Much nicer here. -

No to making broadcast serverwide. People don't know how to use it *zone*wide. (And it'd be a *bigger* reason to stay off of Freedom... imagine never being able to get away from "10mil for farm!" "LFF!" broadcasts... *ever.*)
And you *shouldn't* really just chat in /help. It happens anyway, most people don't care - unless it's getting to the point where you can't see legitimate questions because of all the other BS. That's what global channels are for to begin with. Most of the time, side convos seem to turn into tell conversations anyway.
However, I wouldn't mind (a) making *server*wide chats as sort of a middle ground between local/broadcast and globals, and (b) making them more obvious for people to find. Yeah, once you know about them they're simple enough to add, but the interface could be improved somewhat (and they could be introduced to the player.)
An aside... you list your location as "virtue" and call it a dead server? (FWIW, sorry, can't see any of them as dead - I hop between multiple ones, there are always people chatting and doing things.) -
Maros exists at every point in time. He *should* look a bit left out, quite honestly. I think it fits him rather well.

Well, I see one now...
Trying a different one? And signature images, you'll need to use the [ IMG ] tag, not the line to enter the URL. (Note everything beneath the "See my guides and tutorials" line in my signature is an image.) -
Quote:They want to. *shrug*I'm certainly willing to believe you, but if this stuff isn't strictly necessary, then why are people so gung ho to fill their characters up with them? Is it bragging rights?
See, once you've gotten "IO'd out" with softcapped everything, AFAIC... I'm less interested in hearing you brag. If you've made it easier for yourself... *shrug* I mean, great, hope you're happy with your build - but I *still* have 50s running on SOs (or SOs and just a few IOs, like KB protection.)
And I agree that anyone booting you for not having X many IO set bonuses, etc. is generally a ***** and not worth the time to do more than add a note saying so and a single star to their name.

/approves of this message.
Oh, can you take them to the last room in the LGTF, too? (I know it's used in other maps.) -
soooooooo.... send them an email/tell and ask.

Quote:We did, actually, do a little testing out. That is... insane!!
I guess you two deleted your reserved ones before the friend made theirs? Or do you all three have the name?
I would have loved to conduct a bunch of experiments with that situation!
Tried sending you tells, making more of the same name, etc.
First thing that came to mind was that there was some new sensitivity to capitalization - so I tried making the name in all caps, or with a different letter capitalized - no go.
One thing that was interesting - I don't normally see the name - or a speech bubble - when sending private tells. But it was doing it with this. (So the tell would show up above my head, saying Name: Message.)
But, yeah, they're deleted, and the person that wanted it held has it now. -
Ahh, that's true. It's one of the "How to tell if a CS rep is really a CS rep" signs (as they nave GM_name names.)
-
Heh. I grabbed two names for someone else... because they asked. No assumption.
The amusing thing is, so did another friend of mine (with one of them.) We got the *same* name. Same spelling. No extra spaces or anything odd.
Support was confused. But they said both names pointed to my account. I think the screenshot just confused them more.
Curious to see if I hear back on this - in any case, the person that asked it to be held has it. (And I held hers before even trying for any of mine... surprisingly, no issues. Must not have irritated enough people... yet. Either that or someone did it and added the underscore, which I'd just laugh at.) -
It would have to be an instance (or series of them,) as GC is no longer an accessible "zone" - it's just part of the tutorial.
-
Expect it, oh, pretty much any time they look sideways at the costume creator. Though normally with this sort of thing they hand out a bunch of free tailor tokens. Hadn't heard if that's planned or not.

Quote:Hey, if it was depression era, that'd be worth a lot more.If I gave a list of every insane OCD thing they did to save money, I'd be here all day. Apparently, the three pennies every two years in saved electricity costs was worth it to them.
And Sam... not what you think. -

(And possibly DOs?)
No, this has nothing to do with the invention system. But between the Death From Below raids, Gms showing up, etc - I seem to see my tray filling with a LOT of low-level SOs.
Now, they're decent cash - but what's someone going to think when they use SOs from (say) level 6-9 from the trial, then find they can only go and *buy* TOs (at what, a quarter the strength is it) or DOs (half strength) to replace them? We shouldn't hit a point where we have no choice butto stop *down* in power as we level up because we have no direct replacements for the enhancements, after all. That's rather counterintuitive (if not disappointing or frustrating.)
Of course, that also leads (somewhat) to a problem with common IOs and low level sets - as they'd also be lower level than the SOs, and I don't think the "Doesn't expire" would be enough of an offset (comparing a level 10-15 common to an SO) to make them worth while.
The plus side for doing this, as well, would be an INF sink... SOs are more expensive (yes, sell for more, too,) so what *would* be going for inventions, etc. can be burned on SOs. -
Eh...
Most aren't that hard to figure out, and if there's a piece I don't recognize, I ask. That said, my only *real* concern is one of ... ugh, can't think of the word, 2 AM isn't a time for brain use. Let's call it "malevolent imitation." More a social issue than technical, though.
Perhaps make them able to be examined but not directly *used* in the tailor interface to ward that off? Still would be able to see and buy the parts that way.
