Serverwide chat channel?

Relying on globals has the obvious flaw that people have to opt in rather than opt out. Sometimes if you try to chat in /help or other channels people appoint themself chat police.

My suggestion, outside of a new channel, is to make broadcast serverwide. Or at least Isles/praetoria/paragon-wide. It's not used like it used to be, other means of grouping up and communicating have become common enough, and now people from vastly different level ranges group together a lot more than they used to, makeing a faction-wide channel much more relevant.

So that's my suggestion.

I play on a dead server... and it gets just too quiet. I should transfer off but I can't due to significant other. Please for the love of god help me.

No to making broadcast serverwide. People don't know how to use it *zone*wide. (And it'd be a *bigger* reason to stay off of Freedom... imagine never being able to get away from "10mil for farm!" "LFF!" broadcasts... *ever.*)

And you *shouldn't* really just chat in /help. It happens anyway, most people don't care - unless it's getting to the point where you can't see legitimate questions because of all the other BS. That's what global channels are for to begin with. Most of the time, side convos seem to turn into tell conversations anyway.

However, I wouldn't mind (a) making *server*wide chats as sort of a middle ground between local/broadcast and globals, and (b) making them more obvious for people to find. Yeah, once you know about them they're simple enough to add, but the interface could be improved somewhat (and they could be introduced to the player.)

An aside... you list your location as "virtue" and call it a dead server? (FWIW, sorry, can't see any of them as dead - I hop between multiple ones, there are always people chatting and doing things.)

You're on Virtue and you call it a dead server? You DO realize that Virtue is one of the 2 most populated servers we have right?

I would like to see a general purpose server-wide chat channel, as well. We have a couple kind of like that now, but they don't really work.

We have Arena which I took out of all my tabs forever because the "banter" there hurt my brain, and we have Help which isn't really for general chat. Having a server-wide broadcast channel, especially for those lacking in Global ability and/or not knowing the specific server's resident globals, would be a great boon, I think.
