  1. Wow. That was fast - well, at least hot on the heels of his stepping down. He has been fighting health issues for a bit, though.

Frankly, I was surprised at the amount of "Ooh! Yeah, van canto!" as opposed to "Er... who?"

    Unfortunately, it happens.

And if the person doing it holds the top rank in the SG and just wants to "hide" the activities (maybe there's some internal politics, or just someone having a hissy fit at the rest, or they're splitting with their SO who's also in there, or any number of reasons) - there's no way for anyone to stop them.
  4. IIRC, if you delete the COH manifest file, it'll have to re-download that and check the files again, which should kick the update off.

Has this idea been discussed previously?
It won't happen. Part of the "cost" of the PVP-zone badges is the risk of being engaged in PVP.

If you're on Freedom and a VIP, use your free transfer to go to another server. The zones are dead, for the most part. When done, you can head back if you want.

If you're not on Freedom... all I can say is "What drama?" I see less than one person a month in the PVP zones when I go in on most servers. Go in. Get badges. Get out.
  6. I'd have to say "no" to a cooldown. I've had some longer explanations go through there (most recently with Kheld binds - a few lines explaining how to use them and what they do, and then copy-pasting each bind) and that would have just been *beyond* irritating.

/this. It's like they looked at what was up with Dual Blades and said, "OK, now let's do a combo system properly."

And to me it feels about "right" as being halfway between flashy MA and Superstrength (which, I have to say, I like as a set - but I'm remaking one SS character as SJ, possibly an MA as well.)
  8. Not 100% sure what you mean, but if you're asking:

    - Can I pick a different primary/secondary via a character respec - No. You can, however, pick different slotting and power pools (flight, leaping, etc.) You do this via using /respec, if you were here at the beginning of the issue, or by seeing Jack Wolfe in city hall in Atlas or Arbiter Lupin in Nerva (or... bah, the other guy, in Oakes.)

    - Can I pick different slotting - yes. See above.

For both, you can also (after level 10) use a second build, which you "level up" just like you would from level 1. The two builds share nothing but primary/secondary/AT/Origin - enhancements are totally separate, for instance. (INF and such is character wide.) At level 50, when you have the Alpha slot unlocked, you have access to a third build.

    - Costumes. You can always redo these at any trainer or Icon (atlas/steel/independence port/founders falls) or facemaker (cap/st martial.) You will have one slot at the beginning, unlocking three others (four as a VEAT) at level 20-30-40. (VEATs have a mission at 10 to do so.) One slot is unlockable by halloween salvage, which you turn into a specific NPC (Anna in Croatoa or Granny in Nerva, north of the natural store,) and five others are available for purchase in the store.

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to manipulate a machine (Kheldians are, after all, doomed to be captured and used to power starships, if Twilight Son is to be believed.)

I'd *assume,* though, that they wouldn't get the same life-extension as joining with a regular organic host without some special setup. Or change the basic properties of their host (besides, even if they could turn metal into organic matter, it wouldn't make the machine "alive.")

One other thing to point out about defenders: Not only are the numbers higher, but since the de/buff powerset is their primary, they get the powers *sooner.* Which may, depending on your goals, be a deciding factor for you.

(For instance, I have a set team of two Stone tanks, my Kin defender, and a /kin Controller. Speed boost is *greatly* appreciated, for both speed and END use. I get it at 12, the Controller gets it at 20. Transferrence? 26 vs 35.)

    I'd say "No," really.

With the Kheldian joined, they have the ability to manipulate form, sure (basically changing and rearranging mass and energy as needed.) However, it wouldn't permanently alter the host. A few examples:
    - Name's escaping me right now, but the Warshade the Circle forcibly separated into human and ex-Nictus wasn't an energy being... just human.
    - The Peacebringers that temporarily joined with a host of various politicians, etc. to set a trap for the Nictus were there temporarily - and left the hosts unharmed.
    - The ex-prisoners of the Council that were kept weakened and used as "temporary hosts" to Nictus traveling via cyst were - without a nictus - just very weak, abused humans when rescued.

The main questions rising up are: Surviving the vacuum of space, other cosmetic changes or manipulations
Speculation: Aside from changing to another form... again, they "just" convert matter and energy, and they remember the forms of their hosts. So if they're in a situation ("Hey, we need to fly from here to that satellite to stop the Nictus from broadcasting more Barney!") where they'd be in space (for your example,) they *do* do a form shift - from oxygen-requiring matter to energy, assuming the human shape's the one needed for the job.

As for "just" creating a form or "just" modifying one... nothing we *know* of from the lore indicates they do that, or can without a template. Admittedly nothing says they *can't,* but I tend to want to err on the side of caution before just assigning abilities we've never seen.

    Prestige Nerf?

    Sounds like a bug, certainly.

    Few questions:
    1. Do you have... whatever the name of that prestige booster temp power is (can't think of it) and is it active?
    2. If so, were you in SG mode?
    3. Did you fight any rikti *outside* of missions that should have given prestige?
    4. Did you fight any other mob types that should have, and did they do the same thing?

.... mostly to see if anyone else can see the same thing, really. I'd still /bug it and/or PM avatea or zwillinger and bring their attention to this thread.

Edit: I can say, after just one spawn, that I'm not seeing it.

41 Spine/Inv scrapper, x4+1 on one of Borea's repeatables - I'm getting 21-91 prestige per mob just on the first two spawns.

Right, but *which mobs* is what I'm asking?

Did you somehow end up with a Rikti Monkey heavy mission? I wouldn't be surprised to see barely any Prestige there - in fact, I'd think you had too much. Was it one of the ones packed with Drones? Or did you have a Comm Officer convention?

(I'm not being facetious with the first two examples - I've had missions that seemed to be nothign but Rikti Monkeys and a keeper, or what had to be a drone storage warehouse.)

That is not pacifism.

i think passivist is a better term for this. "I'm okay with violence as long as it's not against me and I don't have to inflict it myself."
Eh, the person may not be *okay* with violence, but may have gotten to a point where they accept it.

For instance, on a few servers I've got a "combat medic" Bots/Pain MM. Refuses to let another living being under his or her command (depending on server) harm others. But, having been in a warzone where everything went south, finally accepted modifying their robotic surgical assistants so they could up-power their various laser-based medical tools to defend themselves and eliminate threats.

I have nothing against the suggestion itself. (Though I don't think it'd be done due to the sheer volume of work.) And - don't just delete/edit the original post. That doesn't help anyone.

Here's my thing - after all this time, I have an idea of how various characters present themselves. (I do mean NPCs, not just my own.) I would want to turn off the voiceovers because - well, for much the same reason I tend to be a bit wary of books turned into movies. They're usually ok, but I still get the "So and so doesn't look/sound like that!" reaction to some casting choices.

(I'm also not 100% sure how it's going to work in an MMO - we'll find out if it's great or a flop come December with SWTOR. But there, again, we're not using existing characters that have been around for years, or even touching on the movie characters, thanks to the timeframe, so that reaction won't be had. They do, however, give YOUR character a voice, which - in for a penny, in for a pound, but CAN end up a bit jarring.)
  22. I'll start off with "I don't disagree, more points to add things would be nice, and yes, is requested often."

    However...

Part of what would have to be looked at is just how much work it would take and how badly everything (7+ years worth, existing costumes, the character creator) would break if they updated the base models to have more points. Even if it's *doable,* which I don't know, it may not be "worth it" time/effort/scheduling/money wise (IE, take too long/too many resources.)

I have two things in mind as I say that:

    1. Just the little bit of rejuggling of pieces in the menus - not even *touching* the models - that they did this last issue is leading to me having to redo a fair number of characters to find which face they're using "now" and put it back on, at the least - redoing the models would probably turn that into *every* character (and, for reference, I have around 300, so this is *not* a trivial point to me - and the game is designed generally to encourage alts,) and

    2. Going for an example of something else that gets requested - giving hands fingers. Sounds like it should be kinda-sorta-simple, but per the devs (most recently on a usteram) it would require not just creating fingers, but redoing (almost) every glove model in the game. And remember, you're not just doing it once, but three times (once for each body type.) What would happen with existing costume pieces? How much work would have to be done to accommodate this?

Now, short term, you can possibly suggest getting the same effect with some add ons. More like the stealth chest piece, for instance. I can see them working on Chest and Shoulder pieces, and more backpacks. Legs, though... I think we'd hit limitations here. They'd probably have to be specific bottom pieces as opposed to something added on there. (Belts couldn't tell you were running/etc to move along with it.)

Wouldn't mind seeing it, but I'd *expect* that to be one of the things pushed off for a "COH 2" if it ever comes around.

... but, Wendy, you *are* implying they're doing it the "wrong" way with some of your commentary.

Now, personally, yes, I agree if someone's new to the game, or hasn't played in a while - or is even just trying out a new AT - they should play the game itself and experience the content.

But, if they've been playing a while - you know, the new Atlas (with *fewer* paths now) already has me burned out, just like the old limited Mercy Isle/Oakes path - I can see wanting to skip to where it "gets interesting." Or setting up a PVP specific character - it doesn't matter if they've seen X arc or not, they need a character for the PVP league to IO out and fill a roster spot.

There *are* legitimate reasons to zip past some content.
