Help channel cooldown &/or LFG Channel activated
I'd have to say "no" to a cooldown. I've had some longer explanations go through there (most recently with Kheld binds - a few lines explaining how to use them and what they do, and then copy-pasting each bind) and that would have just been *beyond* irritating.
The Looking For Group channel is for system messages related to the use of the Team-Up Teleporter.
Issue 16 made me feel like this.

I have to agree with Bill... There have been times when I've had to post some pretty extensive piles of text to explain something properly, or to walk someone through a trouble spot. You can't always give a solid answer in twenty words or less, and it would be annoying for everyone involved if the system set some kind of arbitrary limit on who could reply and how often.
I know the Help channel is getting more cluttered than it ought to be on most of our servers. As I've said before, I'm far from one of those "content nazi"-types who gets really upset at OT posts... I don't mind chatter in moderation at all... But even I'm starting to have trouble sorting the signal from the noise sometimes. That's not a Good Thing.
We do need to come up with a solution. I just don't think a cooldown timer on posting is the right one.

That chick what plays the bird-things...
Add a Freeps channel where they can chat away? They'd still retain the ability to post on Help for help, but it might reduce the amount of spam going on in there and allow people to actually help those who need help.

We've seen RMt spam already?
All the stuff put into the game because of the RMT spammers has never stopped it, just slowed it down. The influx of new players means the amount will increase, but not as much as the spammers would like, because of those limits.

What I'd like to do is set up a server-wide chat channel that Free players can take part in which isn't Help or Arena or any other single-theme channel. Because if this doesn't happen, then Help WILL turn into server-wide Broadcast.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

It never stopped. I usually saw one or two on Virtue help every week before Freedom launched. And apparently it is very active in local near the Wentworth's in AP on Virtue and Freedom.

From the City Life section, additional suggestions for decreasing unrelated Help spam by activating a seperate channel > http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=274748

The thing I find most odd is the use of Help channel for the new low-level sewer trial (is that because F2P's can are limited in global options?). That's what the League system is for? If advised (to be helpful), folks are met with retorts about "channel natzis".
There is a channel listed from the chat window edit as "Looking for Group". To the best of my knowledge, there's no command or way to access this channel. Is it something that was meant to be added later? I realize activating that channel wouldn't be a solution in encouraging people to use the queue, but it would cut down some of the Help channel spam.
Otherwise, would a cooldown in Chat be so bad? Maybe after 5 lines? 10 minutes cooldown? Sometimes the conversation isn't a quick Q/A but community input for questions on powersets (for example). Providing everyone a few lines every 10 minutes still allows for a Help-oriented discussion but would encourage more meaningful input per exchange.

Global ignore has limited space. I found this out quickly when RMT was new to CoH. Constantly adding names to that list would indiscriminately bump off stalkers and my friends.
