    Won't argue with that.

As into lore as I tended to be... well, I was on teamspeak with a friend when I ran that. Think it was the 30 or 35 arc.... of one mission. By that time it had irritated me so badly I was about ready to log and delete the character.

I think the arcs are ok up to... eh, maybe 15. Then we get the "You are a destined one! You aren't! No, wait, you are! Just kidding!" going on.

(Also, revisiting branching.... it always seemed rather silly to me that the Banes, Spiders and Fortunata/Widows didn't have different arcs. Granted, it would be a problem with dual builds.)

  4. The point, and name, of the Epic AT is that they have their own story arcs. Opening them to everyone kind of goes against that, not to mention *doesn't make sense* for other ATs at all.

For instance, why would a Void Hunter - a mercenary group *specifically* set to hunt Kheldians, and armed to do so - be taunting a blaster about how they're probably feeling fear the VH is there? (And without which the speech - and the point of the mission and arc - makes zero sense?)

And the VEAT arcs (spoiler if you haven't run them, or really paid attention) are not "all about being a destined one." They're about sneaking onto the list, sure, but it's the *why* - and why you're *allowed* to, and (at least in part) what your fellow Arachnos troops, think about it. Again, for just a generic Brute, or Mastermind, or Scrapper - it makes zero sense.

It's kind of like saying "I like that pearl harbor movie. But let's put it in space. With the Japanese attacking a wagon train heading west."

As for the different arcs when changing sides - I'd love to see it. I don't expect to, but I'd love to see it. (Problem being, of course, having it make sense whenever you turn - whether it's at 20 or 45.)

Absolutely, positively *despise* Win8 on a PC. On a tablet, sure, I can see exactly what they're shooting for - but I absolutely hate it on a standard PC. And that's *after* working on getting used to its methods of doing things.

Honestly, I think I had a better reaction to Vista at this stage (and Win7 was an "I'd buy and use this as is, *right now,* about a beta previous to where Win8 is now.)
  8. Just idle musing as I play one of my MMs today. Now, this would be fully in place villainside, but I swear, Paragon City citizens are just vindictive sounding when they run up to thank you.

"He was going to steal my purse, and I just saw him mauled viciously by wolves and lions! Thank you!"

No, I *don't* know why I notice it more with this than with robots, ninjas or demons.

The only one of the four vet attacks that has any sort of check vs enemy type is the Ghost Slaying Axe. The two staff choices work off of your origin. And I'll hop in game and check, but I seem to recall it still working for me.

If you're relying on the floating numbers, verify with your combat log - I believe that'll show the extra damage.

(Edit: Verified, yes, it is still doing the extra damage, and yes it shows in the combat log.)

Gib is also, amusingly enough and perhaps appropriate, a castrated male cat or ferret.

  20. It's an OK, and it's on your head.

It's the game's way of asking "Are you OK?"
  21. At *some* point, COH will shut down. It's fair to assume that the boards will go down at some time around then. So there is a stopping point - we just don't know when.

Admittedly they could take it to another board (in which case we'd have to find it,) or to email (in which case we wouldn't see it,) but we wouldn't be *here* any more.

Worst comes to worst, given the average human lifetime, we have only decades of potential argument. (Actually, second worst. There's always the death of the sun, or the extinction of humanity, or the death of the universe - take your pick. But not "forever.")

    /smartalec nitpick off.

    ... er....

No, it wouldn't. It would be scheduled in with specific windows. Issues do not delay the issues (or half issues) behind them, barring major bugs being found that hold everything up. (Even then, unless it impacted something in the following issue, it wouldn't slow it down noticably past the scheduled "slippage" allowance.)

They do work on them in parallel.

(Don't ask me why, the above misperception just bugs the heck out of me when I see it. I had to say something.)

Someone will come by with a copypasta of mine, I'm sure.

    Short form:
It's one of the few things that we've gotten a just flat out "no" about. Not "It would be too hard" or "It would take too long," but just a flat out "no." And for years, with changing devs.

    Edit to add:
And honestly, with Freedom and the Paragon market, there's even less reason for them to. I mean, they can either develop and come up with this full-respec token (possibly breaking... well, many things,) or sell you:
    - Another slot, if you want to alt and keep the old one around "just in case,"
    - Supertailor access (I think purchasable, or as part of another purchase) if the body type/gender isn't what you want
    - Possibly the powerset you actually want to play
    - Rename token.

Financially? Less risk, more reward to push you into buying those items.

But today, the GMs have started enforcing this policy, and the fact is, it's a stupid policy, and I think it should be dropped entirely.

There are a number of flaws with the Cosplay Policy. First, cosplay can be expensive, and not everyone can afford good costumes. Secondly, this is particularly punitive for people who have a large number of alts, and you don't even want to think about alt-hopping to check for a particular enhancement; if you thought the 30 second logout timer was long, having to completely change before logging in is ridiculous.

Furthermore, the cosplay policy unfairly penalizes some character concepts more than others. "Guy in trenchcoat with two guns" is easy, "giant robotic exoskeleton" is... not easy. A lot of people have a lot of time and effort invested in characters that are very difficult to pull off, and at least one GM wasn't even letting people go to the tailor or a trainer to pick a new costume!

The fact is, I think a lot of us have been playing CoH in our normal clothes all along, and I think the game was plenty fun; I am not at all convinced that I needed extra help getting into the spirit of the game, and really, when it's implemented as pushy enforcement like this, it's mostly just intrusive. It doesn't create immersion, it just creates resentment.

Frankly, if the cosplay policy isn't dropped, I think a lot of people will stop playing CoH entirely. At the very least, I think GMs need to be a lot more forgiving of amateur-level costume efforts.

The annoyance of having this pop up is understandable. However, I can let you in on a little secret - it's easy... well, for some of us... to get an exception placed onto our accounts.

    How?

How can I put this... While some of my characters may look good like this:

I, most assuredly, do not. They call it the OGME exception. They may ask you to send in the (deactivated) webcam as proof first, though.

Actually, there's one that's as old as Issue 6.

Feel like trapping some ghosts in Port Oakes? Don't overfill the trap... because from 15-early 20s, you're going to have one *heck* of a fight on your hands as a pile of Red Hands pop out - everything from minions to Elite Bosses. And they're all coming for *you.*
