I support maintaining Vigilance.

Are times so tough that the sole server for a given language has to be closed down? Is there no low traffic English speaking server you can take in it's place?

Is money really so tight that this server in particular has to go?


Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.

The server isn't being closed down or removed. It isn't being renamed.

They are no longer providing French or German translations of the in-game files and are no longer maintaining a separate forum section for French or German.

There will no longer be a separate EU website. All website traffic will be redirected to the NA website.

Their game accounts and payments are not affected.

They will still be receiving technical support in French and German.


If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

If it were being done "just because," I'd be right there alongside you saying "Continue with localization of in game files." (Heck, to be honest, I'm surprised we don't have a Spanish-language server.) And you do have my complete sympathy.

It is, unfortunately, a business decision, where they feel cost (including time) outweighs the benefit. After all, localization does take time and slow down the release of content.

The problem with arguing against it? We don't have access to the numbers to *make* a convincing argument. I don't know how many players connect to Vigilance, how many only speak French, or how long it takes to localize the content (not a short while, typically.) Of those players, how many went to a Premium model and buy little or nothing from the store - essentially being nothing but "cost?" You may know X many players still subscribe, or regularly buy things from the store - but what percent is that? We just don't know.

That means the only thing we can argue from is from want and emotion, and unfortunately... that doesn't keep the lights lit or the employees paid.

You, and our other French-speaking players, have my sympathy and support, and I certainly wouldn't argue with keeping French-language (and German - which I at least used to know a bit of) localization in game... I just don't think we have the information to make the case to stop that particular boulder from rolling.

Did you know that I have never seen a French advertising COH? Finally, apart from the beginning ... I understand that the MMO to 7 years and he is getting old, but we are fond of novelties! Each Tuesday, we look forward to the release of a new section, a new issue or new stories!

Or the UK, I wouldn't never found this wonderful gem of an MMO if a now-drifted friend didn't introduce me to the game many years ago.

Advertisement had always been a weak-point in the game's run, but I like to think it translates into more time developing the game. As naivé as that sounds.

Years ago I suggested that the language files should be made client based... and the coding that interfaces with the server standarised. That way the language can be switched on the fly at the client size.

And we can even have more languages available in time.
