Quote:Masterminds.Actually, if there is one pool power that is useless it's Team Teleport. It is much more efficient for the person to teleport themselves to the destination and then use Recall Friend (or Assemble Team if they have it) to bring everyone else.
Some PVP tactics.
Or, one a group of friends and I were having fun with - group of sapper-type characters (all elec/elec blasters in our case,) all show up, and almost immediately everything else is twitching and/or nearly out of END, of not outright dead. Why? .... Team teleport. -
Quote:Because although YOU may not use it or find it "practical," others do.All I am trying to justify is why have a power that is not as practical to use as it may have been long ago?
Big difference between that and "Get rid of it."Quote:I would say some major tweaking of this power might be in order. -
Quote:/this, though I tend to retrofit with common IOs. Plus, of course, they drop "ready to use."Because not everybody has the time to devote to crafting in this game. (I don't speak as one of those people, just defending those who are.)
Personally, if I "need" sets to "work right," something's broken AFAIC. (I don't mean as in "an optional way to do something," like KB IO vs Acrobatics with that, either.) I tend to want to know how something works with SOs/commons (I have recent 50s that are mostly SOs still, TBH) versus what a mix of sets will do.
(Somewhat related to me not bothering with most forum builds - don't care what a few hundred million or whatever will do @50 when I'm trying to improve something at 22-35.)
(DA wise - DA/SS brute, SS/DA tank, DM/DA scrapper, Spine/DA scrapper... I really have to get them out of the mid-late 20s, though of the four, so far the DM/DA doesn't seem to need END at all.) -
Quote:You forgot "Make armors exclusive - only one at a time for you!"While we're reliving the glory days, let's also do the following:
- Remove inherent abilities
- Remove EAT's
- Remove IO's
- Make Tanker's taunt work on only one target
- Remove Capes and Auras
- Remove Rogue Isles
- Remove server queueing
- Get Jack Emmert to rejoin as lead designer

How about "no."
The devs, fortunately, learned how *stupid* it is to replace powers when they tried it with APPs/PPPs and were nearly lynched for doing so. You'll notice they have a fifth power now.
See also "Cottage rule."
You don't like the power? Don't take it. Simple as that. Don't suggest depriving the people who DO use it of the option of having it. -
I still have (well, as of yesterday) "Complete" and "Abandon" options. (And I've abandoned a timed mission in the past - getting ready to log off, accidentally started Peebles 'rescue dr. whatsisface' mission, abandoned it right away.)
-
And I'll throw out "anything but illusion," especially as a first controller. /Rad's a good, if "hard to find something to skip" secondary. Pair with Mind/ or Fire/. Season to taste.

Quote:See... those, to me, weren't the "glory days." It was amusing at first, but got *really* boring, *really* quickly. I remember the missions all to well. This suggestion is purely for fun and was inspired by CoX's double xp weekends.
The idea is to for two days, to remove the aggro and target cap and give season players of CoX that feeling of deja vu. Would it be abused by players herding entire maps then having a Elec/shield scrapper just tear through everything? Of course it would, but would it be loads of fun to relive the glory days? Heck yes!
Tank: "OK. Wait here."
Everyone else stands around for a few minutes. Blasters decide which one of them gets to nuke. Does so.
Go to next level, rinse, repeat.
"Glory days?" Hardly. "Boring days" is far more like it. -
But he wants to be a Champion of Liberty. (I don't think being a Guardian of Virtue was on the list, though.)

Quote:I'm not sure what you're babbling about. No, you do not have to do some systemic install of every OS that came in between. Vista does not come into play, nor does XP 64.So, possibly, you would have to go from xp32 to xp 64 to vista 64 to W7
or
xp32 to vista 32 to vista 64 to W7
or
xp32 to vista 32 to W7 32
or
do a clean install of everything
Any install from XP to 7 of any flavor requires a clean install. Even using an upgrade disk. I've done this multiple times.
Any change from 32 to 64 bit (Vista or 7) requires a clean install.
In any case, the OP's doing a clean install and wants to avoid as many reinstalls as possible.
Now, some apps (like COH) this isn't a big deal - they just don't do much in the registry. Copy the COH directory to an external drive, and follow BillZBubba's guide to installing test or moving COH (in player guides.) It's basically "barely start the install, copy data over," as I recall. You *might* get away with the same thing with other apps (start the install, point it to the directory on the other drive, let it see it's installed already, watch "install" finish in seconds) but others are going to write all over it. They'll have registry entries and misc. files to drop in the WIndows directory, for instance.
Basically - expect to have to reinstall the others, but pointing them to the same directory on the secondary drive may speed things up. -
Note, even if you were on Vista, going from 32 bit vista -64 bit vista or 7 would require a clean install.
-
Probably want this in the tech section.
That said, reinstalling is really the best way of doing it. There are migration cables, and programs, etc. (especially built into Win7 - "Windows Easy Transfer") but a clean install is best.
(Edit - actually, going to the same PC... it's still doable, but not particularly tidy, IMHO.) -
Quote:They're obviously doing something right, then.
game wont let me in now.
Also, look at announcements. -
Right.
The lack of attention is why they're bringing the NA servers down. Yep. Makes perfect sense. Not trying to fix anything right now, they just thought they'd do it for laughs. And of course, the people developing powers, tweaking them for GR release, doing artwork, etc - yep, they should just switch *right* over to working on networks, running back and forth daily to both data centers. -
-
Or a Mids - like button (on/off) - Mids uses it for calculations, but being able to turn on (say) just two, then three, and keep layering the toggles would be nice.
Bit more complex, sure. -
The only - I don't even want to call it an objection, more an issue - I see with it is having it done without the input of the rest of the SG. Yes, we have the "red star," but really, that doesn't' mean even a majority of the SG would agree. Being able to show some percentage of the active (accounts on in the last 60 days, say) membership agreeing (or at least not disagreeing) to the change would be a nice check on this.
Other than that one point, /signed. -
I actually want to say that's legit. That looks really similar to what I was sent when I blanked out on my Guild Wars info. (the game I log into, oh, once a year or so.)
However, to play it safe, go to the actual NCSoft site. Y ou should be able to access your support tickets through there and answer any info.
Edit: Yep. From my Guild Wars request:
Quote:Haven't had to do so for COH, though. (Edit: And seriously, "all the 25 digit codes applied to your account?" Really?)
Thanks for contacting Guild Wars Account Support.
The fastest way for us to help you with your issue is for us to verify the following information. Please provide as much of this information as you can.
-- What first and last name did you use when you created the account?
-- What physical address did you use when you created the account?
-- What date of birth did you use when you created the account?
-- What are all the 25-digit retail access keys currently registered to your Guild Wars game account? (Please include the retail access keys from each campaign.)
We look forward to your reply.
Thank you,
Ralf

Quote:170+ alts, two accounts.Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions. I have one last question: What happens when you run out of character slots and cant buy more? I'm on Virtue and I dont want to switch servers. I have all my slots full. Is there anyway to link two account together so I can get all the Vet rewards and things?
As you can see I LOVE Alts!!
No, no way of linking two accounts together. You can, however, always start up an "old folks home" with some of your friends (or some other combination - redside vs blueside, though with GR that means less) and start transferring characters. If they transfer with you, you've got the core of a SG there.
Admittedly it costs money to do so, but it's an option. -
Worst comes to worst, just snag an external drive for it. *shrug*

Quote:Are you psychic now? Precognitive ability being announced to the world?Perhaps.
But then the resolution would have been quite different.
No, Kat, you can't say that with any certainty. To be quite honest, your actions in this thread have made me generally more irritated with you and your butting in (and now apparently trying to claim some sort of credit, which I find highly offensive) than I *ever* was with the OP.
Resolution? I have no issue with the OP. I was irritated, it wore off. I believe I stated that had happened anyway - not "would have," but already had. If anything, your continual harping on it *lengthened* the general irritation by bringing it back to mind. That sort of behaviour does nothing but get my Irish up. And you say you're like this with your personal friends? How do you keep from getting decked? -
Quote:Ahh. See, I think we touched on this in the PMs (how something's read, etc.) That read, to me, as more of a "social nicety" opening (like saying "I'm sorry, what did you call me?") than an apology. (As opposed to what you said in the other thread that prompted me to PM you when I finally read it. Of course, I wasn't irritated when I read the second one, too.) It colored the entire tone of the post, for me, into one of "making excuses" rather than an apology - which didn't, quite obviously, go over well with me.I did apologize on this thread...an apology which you seemed to skip.
So I'll offer you an apology of my own for completely misreading both what you wrote and the intent behind it (as I think we've handled everything else in PMs) - though I have to add, without certain parties dragging this out, the issue would have been long dead and buried IMHO. Any irritation at you is long gone. -
I've got a very few characters who will switch one way or the other, and at least one Dom who's starting out Praetorian (as the concept calls for them to be a hero at the end.)

Quote:Irrelevant.First of all, the prea material is 1-20 so it's not an epic pool power.
Incorrect. The cottage rule is that any change to a power will not alter that power's fundamental purpose, whether you think there's "nothing wrong" with the power or not. For instance, Energy Aura formerly had just a power sink that drained END. EA could use a heal. Did they replace power sink? No. They added a healing component to it. They did the same thing with Electric armor (Energize.) The power's initial purpose remains.Quote:Secondly, I'm sure that most of everyone well agree that gravity needs a revamp, Cottage rule applies if there was nothing wrong with the power in the first place,
Yes, and they're not going to screw over the "handful of people" (myself included) who take the power. My post isn't misplaced, your understanding of the cottage rule is lacking. Thus my pointing out of the APP/PPP changes - that was the last time they tried breaking the cottage rule and replacing "powers nobody takes" with "more useful" ones (their own words.)Quote:I'm sure there is only a hand full of people who actually take the power. Though I'm jumping to no conclusions, your post is misplaced.
For instance, Dominators mace mastery. They wanted to replace the "nobody takes/less useful" targeted AOE with Personal Force Field. Guess what my 50 Dom has as a PPP... and what power (wanting more damage) I was using. PFF is many orders of magnitude less useful to me. They ran into that with *every single change.*
They will not outright replace a power with one that's completely different. So, looking at the OP (emphasis mine: )
the answer would be "no." Reason? The cottage rule.Quote:OMG are they finally implementing Gravity Sink in place of dimention shift for gravity control!???
