Now that it's possible to invite someone to an incarnate trial that's already in progress, does anyone know if that works as well for DFB? I'm thinking it would be nice to kick off the night with a DFB run and just invite the latecomers as they trickle in.
Personally I'd prefer this over doing the new low level "intro" content. I like the intro content but it feels to me like it's designed for solo play.
One DFB run then you can head to PO for newspapers and the first mayhem, etc.. -
I'm taking Mental's advice and pulling my lowbie DM/Elec brute out of mothballs.

I'll probably tag along at least part time. Will be rolling either a tank or defender. Haven't decided which yet.

Happy birthday, Bug!
I was working a summer job a few years ago with lots of folks from Europe. One of the Danes(?) had a birthday so we went out and bought him a cake. A carrot cake - believe me, it wasn't my idea to get him a carrot cake. We got back and gave it to him and he asks "what kind of cake is this?" We tell him and he replies, "What do you think I am? A f*****g rabbit!?!?"
Anyway, if you got a cake, I hope it was one you liked! -
Happy Birthday, guys!

Love the art! Although I wish more of them had dark backgrounds... Interesting choices for screen resolutions. Aren't there a lot of people out there (like me) who have 1080p resolution monitors (1920x1080)? I couldn't get any of the images to fit perfectly. I'm using the 1920x1200 image centered. It looks really good, but part of it is cropped off, of course and part of the logo is obscured, well out of focus, because it's under my taskbar.

Happy birthday!

It is so frustrating for me that this is happening to such a nice young guy.
I've known DC in game for at least 6 years. One of only three that I have known that long. He's always been amazing to team with. You just knew, no matter what we were doing, that he knew what to do. He had all the maps pretty much memorized. If you didn't know which way to go, just follow DC. And if you thought you knew but weren't following him, you were going the wrong way!
How many of you have spent time in the shard before jet packs? Most of my characters didn't have flight so I would end up just waiting around for someone to TP me. A few times I'd try to jump through those jets. Sometimes, if I was lucky, I might make it through one, maybe two, before missing and falling and resetting back to the start of the zone. DC, on the other hand, with just super jump, would go across the zone from jet to jet, faster than anyone with flight, like he was born in the zone! The first time I saw him do it, I was absolutely amazed. Who am I kidding? Every time.
He is a wealth of knowledge about the game. Knows all the contacts. All the arcs. He was always down for a TF. No matter which one.
DC is always level headed and good natured. Sure, he'd act like a crotchety old man, but you always knew he was just teasing - well mostly
On a "real life" note, he is also partially responsible for my wife and I being together. I'll be forever grateful to him for that. He is one of only a few people both in and out of game that I know as a true friend. Someone I could trust. Someone who would help me if he could, not for personal gain, but because it's what friends do. -
Can't wait till I get a confuse purple as a drop, use one of these converter tokens to convert it to... another confuse purple
Seriously though, I think these might be entertaining. -

First Round of Server Wide Competition
Contest Basics:
- Any Hero, Villain, or Praetorian may enter.
- Only one entry per account per server is allowed. You may compete on multiple servers (if you are not chosen as a server winner).
- Characters must be at least level twelve (12) to participate.
- Once judging has started, no late entries will be accepted.
- No member of P.E.R.C. may enter (since P.E.R.C. Representatives will be judging).
- Male and Female characters will compete separately. Huge body types will considered male.
Costume Rules:
- Customized Weapons are allowed. This includes shields, blades, guns, etc. Players are asked to only draw weapons however and not utilize power animations.
- Powers Usage is limited. We understand that there are a variety of power customization options, however powers can affect other players unintentionally and can also diffuse attention away from other character components. Players should limit their use of powers and utilize them for Aura purposes. Examples include, but are not limited to Fire Shield, Rock Armor, Personal Force Field, and Invincibility.
- Be very careful in your power choices and avoid overusing multiple powers. Powers should not hide your costume.
- Powers that affect other players or have a large radius may result in disqualification from the event. Examples include, but are not limited to Steamy Mist, Lightning Field, Hot feet, and Shadowfall.
- Please contact a P.E.R.C. Representative if you have any questions about a specific power.
Judging Rules:
- A panel of P.E.R.C. Representatives from other servers will be compiled to judge this event.
- Players are urged to utilize costume choices, weapons customizations, emotes, and auras in building their concept for display.
- Judging for the contest will be scored based on concept, costume, and creativity.
- Judges will pick a total of 16 contestants (8 Male / 8 Female) at the end of the Server Judging Round to move on to the Semi-Finals Round
Second Round of Server Wide Competition
Semi-Finals:
- Semi-Finals will take place in the Pocket D Arena.
- Each Semi-Finalist group will be taken into the Arena separately. Males first, followed by females.
- A P.E.R.C. Rep will start the Arena Event and set up the teams so that it is Judges vs. Semi-Finalists.
- Each contestant will have 1 minute to show off their powers! Temporary powers will not be considered, only how well customized powers work with the overall concept. We are looking for you to put on a show!
- A "dummy" or "test subject" will be announced for the person to target.
- During this round it is IMPORTANT to listen to all P.E.R.C. Representatives for any additional rules & details.
- Anybody who griefs and / or kills another contestant inside the Arena will be disqualified.
- All attendees, who do not make it to the Semi-Finalists, are invited to observe the Semi-Finals event once it starts.
Final Round of Competition (Overall)
Finals:
- The finals will be based both on concept / costume design (same rules as above) and additionally, contestants will be asked to tell the judges about their character concept.
- The finals will occur on the Test server, players must be present to win.
- Costume scores will be formulated the same way as they were in the individual server contest rounds.
- Power customization and showmanship will be factored in as well.
The Player Event Resource Committee would like to thank Paragon Studios and the Community Team for their support and generosity. If you have any questions for this contest, please feel free to contact Madame Pistacio or Arkyaeon via private message or send an email to PERC.COH@gmail.com. -
The Player Event Resource Committee would like to thank all of the players who submitted an entry to compete in Design Challenge - Bases on a Budget! We were extremely pleased to receive 42 entries. Rather than eliminating two players, we felt it best to extend two of the categories to eleven for maximum competition. It was extremely enjoyable to read the short essays on why people wanted to enter and view the gorgeous base screen shots that many players submitted. There are many passionate Base Builders and it will be amazing to see what can be done on a small budget!
Contestants were asked to rank their preference of category they would like to compete it, PERC is very pleased to say that every contestant will be given their first choice to build!

Happy birthday, Ice! Hope you have/had some fun today.

Team MPs started off with Julius the Troll in the Hollows. By the time we completed his arc, we were 15/16 and had outleveled the Hollows content. We went to Faultline, upped our difficulty to +1, and went through Jim Temblor and Penelope Yin's arcs. As we weren't quite 20 we couldn't start on Doc Delilah, so we ran 2 radio missions (and dropped a 3rd). We then finished up the night with a Skyway safeguard run.
We finished off the night around level 19-20.
I'm enjoying my Time/Fire defender quite a bit. So far I've gotten everything from Time as it became available except the single target debuff and the single target Hold.
Distortion Field + Rain of Fire + Fireball = win! -
Sorry to hear that, Chad
Wishing you luck finding a new job you're happy with. -
Quote:Ahh, ok. So still no dice for me then... I got a new Macbook Pro from work - which is awesome! If I could find a $30 win license, I was going to set up bootcamp, but for $90 I'll probably pass. At least until I get frustrated about something or another and start missing having Windows, hehe.If you're a student, you can get it directly from Microsoft. Although, since it's an Upgrade license, you'd need at least some disc of an older version of Windows (IIRC, I've not manually reinstalled an Upgrade copy since the days of XP)... but, it's Professional and not Home/Home Premium.

Has anyone found a fix for this issue yet? I have a friend who just returned to the game. He downloaded the mac client on his new(ish) i7 based iMac running Lion and has the pointer issue (black border around the pointer).

I've been running with 11.3 for a while now. I tried 11.5 when it came out, but it performed horribly on my system - constant stuttering making the game basically unplayable. I tried 11.9 to see if I got better performance. The performance is on par or better than 11.3 with my limited testing. And no stuttering, which is great, however there is one disappointing thing for me...
I often drop the maxfps to 30 or sometimes even lower when I'm not doing anything intensive - like marketeering, or respecing, or changing costumes etc. I do this to drop my CPU usage to single digits which quiets down my system - all my fans throttle down to lower speeds.
However, with 11.9 this isn't happening. The CPU usage for one of my CPU's stays at 100%. All the time when running CoH.
I've reverted back to 11.3 for now. My system is Win7 x64 with quad i7 with radeon 5850.
