Quote:I think it's also a derogatory term for a Mongolian. That's probably why. It seems you can't even say the word without the "-ian" on it either. lolQuote:Probably derogatory dimunition for the deprecated 'Mongoloid.'
"Today, the term is regarded by some as potentially offensive"
"All the -oid racial terms (e.g. Mongoloid, Caucasoid, Negroid, etc.) are now often controversial in both technical and non-technical contexts and may sometimes give offense no matter how they are used. This is especially true of Mongoloid because it has also been used as a synonym for persons with Down Syndrome. A shortened version of the term.... <insert name here>"
Personally, I would have never made that connection without doing these searches. It's seems kinda silly that the shortened word is censored, but the full word is not.
Anyway, I hope the OP figures out the self-mail system. haha -
In the past, the "chain" powers (like the one found during a Hami encounter that chains off you and onto another player) temporarily showed up in your power info. If it's not a temporary effect of the mission you were in, or a glitched item from a future issue, I wonder if it's something like that.

It seems that most hostages have worked that same way since GR came out. Sometimes your own Alpha strike on the mob can even cause damage to the NPC you are trying to rescue.
I was told by some people in-game that it was a new intended mechanic, but it seems kinda silly to me. I /bugged it as well. -

Quote:Putting a * in the search will search for any channel with a * in the name, which I'm not sure is even allowed, so you wont get any results doing it that way.Can I use a generic by using * to bring all channels up? Or am I just better off going to the established channels first and then branching out?
As mentioned above, you could just search for "Justice" or something to find some Justice channels, or it might be beneficial to just visit the Justice Forum and find the thread that lists their most popular global channels.
I'm not familiar with Justice, but a quick search showed that "JFA2010" and "Justice United" seem to be the two current main ones. A handful of the other channels you might find doing a "Justice" search seem to have been merged into those two. That should at least get you started until you play with people and work your way into some of the smaller, private channels. -

I use the spot in Sharkhead as well. It's especially easy to get to simply by zoning in from Ouro.

You can use one of your existing accounts, but yes you will need to input a retail code to use it after the trial time has expired.

I saw what you said, and I don't take it personally. The problem with what you said was "I feel we share a difference of opinion".
I guess that may be true, but the only thing I'm trying to convey here is FACT, not opinion.
"Healing is useful" is NOT the opposite of "Healing is not necessesary".
Both are true. -
Yes you are.. See Below..
Quote:Healing is a boon, and fill in the holes of a team that might not be the sturdiest team out there.
As i said in a previous post... you can't make a generalizations based on specific situations. There are a million ways to be useful in this game. Having powers that heal just happens to be one of many.
Hence, the impact that mis-information has on the community.
I'm sorry if you are taking it personally. Nobody is getting hostile. Everybody is entitled to a difference in opinion. This thread is more about incorrect facts though, and the fact is.. "healing is not necessary". It may help you and your teams sleep better at night, and that's fine.. but telling everybody else that they need one is just plain wrong. -
Quote:The problem is, you are contradicting yourself within your own argument. Your original post here stated "Those who say that healing is not needed are missing the point.", then you turn around and admit "Perhaps not needed"Not saying it would not be. Actually I am not arguing that at all. My FFer can mitigate a ton of damage and she is completely effective at doing so, but what I am saying is that an empath in a team is great for that team, regardless of whether my FFer deflects all incoming damage.
I am saying that it's not a bad thing to have one. Perhaps not needed, but each time there has been an empath on my team the team excells far better than not having one.
I'm one of the people saying that healing is not necessary, but it is you that is missing the point. I'm not saying it isn't useful.
That's not mis-information. That's mis-interpretation. You are arguing a case with unrelated (and unopposed) data. -
All this does is prove that Empathy can be useful in specific situations. It doesn't mean it's a necessary component in every Team. It also doesn't prove that the healing part of the set is what saved the team. In many cases, the extra buffs from Fortitude alone can turn the odds around. A toon with shield buffs might have been just as useful for that team. Not having been there, I can't say for sure.. but that's what happens when people make generalizations about something based on specific situations.
-
Quote:The point is not to say that Healing is useless. It's just to say that there are other options. Not for nothing, but when I am playing my Emp Defender on the same team as a FF Defender, I tend not to have to even bother using my heals. Instead, I'm using my secondary powers to attack the enemy... something that many Emps seem to neglect.Teams really do benefit from healing. It's not 100% a must, but people seem to want my healer more than my FFer. Sure she is empathy, and empathy has solid buffs, but the truth is is that there are better buffing sets than empathy.
For someone to say empathy is not focused around healing or regeneration is misinformation.
Teams need healers = true and false...If the team is a bunch of blasters or scrappers, team heals shine. So do mitigation abilities, but healing is generally appreciated no matter what team you are on.
Those who say that healing is not needed are missing the point. It may not be the be all and end all, but if it's not needed, then it would not be such an appreciated set to have on a team.
In other news, Empathy isn't the only set that has healing powers either. -
Quote:Along those same lines, it still annoys me when people refer to one of the towers as Yellow, and make it a main priority as if it's LR's ToHit bonus... thinking it will help the Tank survive better while the team takes down the rest of the towers. If that was their goal, they should be taking down the blue tower, as that's the one that gives him his Tohit and recharge bonuses.People have been wrong or misguided about all sorts of things over the years, and sometimes it's just bad strategy or bad assumptions - saying that the best way to fight Ghost Widow is to leave only a tank in melee range, or that the Blue tower should be fought last because it's just endurance - but my favorite bits were always when the game itself lied to you. "Granite and Eye of the Magus debuff accuracy! The tooltips say so!"
Don't get me wrong. People can feel free to lead their team any way they like and choose to take the towers down in whatever order they wish, but when they are constantly passing out the wrong information to their teams, it causes people to possibly make the wrong decisions for their own teams later on.
In the long run, they are simply just colors and don't necessarily have to correlate to the effect they are having. In fact, the "Yellow" tower is actually Orange and grants him capped Defenses. They could have made it purple to make it more clear for people, but they didn't. It shouldn't really matter what color it is. The only reason I care if people call it Yellow is that it gives a false impression of what it's doing for LR, which can be just as bad as falsely telling telling them it's a ToHit bonus.
Some people may argue that it looks Yellow to them anyway. That's fine. In reality I'd agree it's a bright Orange beam mixed with Yellow flashes of light. The overall color borders on a Dark Yellow (kinda like a School Bus). Either way, the color was never really the point anyway, as I mentioned above.
As for the Ghost Widow strategy you mentioned.. that's still used today, and can work just fine. Saying whether or not it is the "best" way is completely an opinion, and based on specific circumstances. It's not a fact that can be proven or disproven. It's just one of any number of strategies used based on what the team is composed of. -
I don't have to work that following Sunday morning, so Tabby will be in attendance for this one.
Thank you for hosting it. See you there! -
Quote:That's what I thought. I just never examined it after they lowered it from 50.Originally, the green mitos in LGTF didn't have any hold protection. At some point, Castle decided to "fix" them by granting them mag 50 hold protection. Later he lowered it to mag 7.
In that case, leaving the Pylon up does nothing to the Mitos that I could notice with the Power Analyzer. Maybe we should just add this to the Mis-information thread. rofl -
I play on freedom and I've only head that rumor one time the other day. The team was told that leaving the Pylons up causes the Green Mitos to be Held easier. I used the Mk Power Analyser on the Green Mitos to see what was going on, and it seems they only had 7 points of protection instead of the usual 50. I haven't really taken a look at them since before the "fix" a while back anyway, so I don't know if 7 is the new norm or not, but that's the only info I have about it. I'll have to examine one again on the next run for comparison.
That said, I run this regularlay without using any crazy tricks, so i don't see why people would get all crazy and boot people over it. If I were you, I'd simply put those people on /ignore and move on. -

Quote:The Valentine Event comes to mind. Before GR, that's the only place it was available for Heroes. At some point in time (I have no idea exactly when but...), I defeated a Hellfrost or Succubus
On a side note, I'm curious about something now. If a Rogue toon goes into a Hero's CoT mission (in Paragon City) first, will it spawn the "Villain CoT" the same way it does in PocketD during the Valentine Event? Is this badge now available in the "off-season" to people who don't have GR? -

Quote:The whole time, I've been following what the Wiki said. "Timer only counts while she is on the map."As of right now, I'm going to have to say the official line is what we should be measuring against. At that point I have to ask how some people are tracking the time.
I didn't participate in Beta and kinda got a late start on i19, as well as an even later start on the Alpha Slot and TFs. I didn't really keep track of the threads going on at the time, and the ones I did see happened to mention the same thing, so that's what I trusted. Where did they originally get that information from anyway? Let's be clear that this isn't my theory and I didn't make it up. I'm not trying to be right either. I really thought that was the way it worked based on what I've read and experienced, and didn't know any better. All I did was make a silly comment saying that maybe he had more time than he thought, and all this debate suddenly happened. lol
So far, it hasn't steered me wrong, but I guess it's possible that all of my personal encounters could have been in a "butter zone" that fits each of our possible requirements (except maybe one of them that I mentioned before). It wouldn't explain some of the other reports either unless they were also including the sword ambush at the beginning for some reason.
I'll try to run Fraps on any of my future encounters so they can be re-timed after-the-fact for comparison. It might be a little tricky trying to get people to sandbag to the 15 minute limit just to experiment though, especially since they are trying to actually earn the badge, and the last run we did took her down in all of 3 minutes (absent time not included). lol -
Quote:I'm not sure Myr. I'm just going based on what the wiki says. I know I've run them both before, but not recently, so I'm not sure what the exact badges are called. We'll find out tonight =)
So that makes 3 badges from the arcs tonight... if you decide to fight 8 clones. -

I think all standard rewards (xp/inf/prestige(?)) are doubled during Dxp, but unfortunately.. I think the Shards count as drops like the recipes and salvage and would NOT be doubled.
