    Spring Cleaning!

From time to time I come up with names that seem good for a new toon, but usually forget to write them down before they fade. Here's some I did write down, but haven't used. Not sure if they are available:
    • Whodunit
    • Cyberbad
    • Pandorph
    • DeVour
    • Stonehenge
    • BaDaBoom

    Time Travelers

If I was a historian I'd time travel to observe events or eras I was interested in, then return to the present and write the most accurate books ever. It'd be cool to see actual dinosaurs for instance, but I may end up as dino-meal.

Going back in time to change anything is largely pointless. If I understand the many-worlds theory, all you would accomplish is to create a branching timeline. I suppose if you could live in the new alternate timeline and not return to your old one, it may be worthwhile.

So my best option would be to travel to the future, say about a thousand years, to see how our timeline turns out. If it's bad, returning to the present would stilll leave the chance to fix things or maybe prevent a catastrophe.
  4. Don't know if I have a screenie, but I remember when Adamastor was a true monster, not the shrimp he is today. Once, he spawned on top of the pyramid in your shot. Looking for him and seeing him emerge out of the fog. That was an epic battle.

Yes, by far.

As for slotting it, even unslotted in the hands of a boss Power Sink can drain half your blue bar. Unless you are heavily IOd so as to be running at full end all the time, it is nasty.
For example, in the Hickman guest author arc, one mission has Lts that continually drain end. At +1 diff +6 team, there were 4-6 of them per group. I had to back out of battles repeatedly to regain end, which I almost never have to do on my brute. Ended up completing the objective and moving on, since it was too annoying.

End drain is a bit too harsh on melee players.

    ninja pack

    Is it any good?

I got the cyborg pack and wished I could pay for the costume only, as I don't use the rest of it.

Yes, I stated already that it was a CS issue. I just thought Paragon Studios people would like to know that something they expect to work as intended is broken. I'd want to know if I was a dev. A vet reward affects gameplay, so I say this is the same as a bug.

I wonder if they can borrow Guild Wars' cutscene maker tool. The way it inserts your character and others in your party is seamless. It would be so cool seeing your toons animated that way. Plus maybe voiceover, if we want to really dream.

The two games are both NCSoft and GW already did cross-promoting w/ Aion when they gave out wings as emotes. It should be in the realm of possibility.
  10. The awarding for vet badges is broken. My 60-month had to be added manually (more than a month late) and I was told to contact CS to add the 63-month one this month. Otherwise, my master account page says it would be awarded in May 2010.

Why can't this be fixed? I don't wanna have to contact CS every 3 months indefinitely.
  11. I'm glad to see Paragon finally hired someone from the playerbase. I advocated something like that a long time ago. Every time I saw a dev move or decision that was annoying or frustrating, I'd want an actual player at the table to give the devs our perspective. So congrats Fearghas, now Dr. Aeon! Make us proud.

To Venture: check out the film Amadeus, the part where the King is asked what he didn't like about Mozart's symphony. His answer? "Too many notes. Just cut a few and it'll be perfect."

Brevity can be a virtue when an artist doesn't have much to say. When there is substance there, I'd give the artist all the space he or she needed. Haven't you ever read a book that you didn't want to end?

In other words, short stories are fine, but once in awhile a book that draws you into an epic world is fine too. AE could and should encompass all types of stories, not just be a collection of short ones.

Check out this thread for all things GR.

The moral spectrum will be Hero-Vigilante-Rogue-Villain. It's unclear at this point if characters can remain in the middle ground as either vigilantes or rogues. They may need to make a final choice, although the morality in Praetoria is inverted. A Loyalist makes you a supporter of Emperor Cole, a dictator. A Resistance fighter makes you a rebel, but fighting for freedom.

    HEY LIBERTY!

Sorry to see you go, buddy. But family trumps virtual fun anyday.
The game will still be here, hopefully w/ more interesting things to do as Rogue gets closer. The moments w/ your lil' one as she grows older you only get once.
Best wishes to you and your family.

I've mentioned before that CoH is the only game I play that buries my CPU and memory meters in the red zone. There are more graphics intesive games out there that my rig has no problem running. Why is CoX using so many resources?

Other odd sounds: DE Granites are howling like Warwolves. I know those two share the same skeleton, but some game sounds seem to have been thrown into a mixer lately.
  17. Which arc did you submit PW? I thought it was the Flower Knight one, but the OP seems to be saying it's the Teen Phalanx one.
  18. That's a lotta love for AV. Your karma must be good, bud.

Just think, you could've terrorized a neighborhood if you were on a villain, or wiped out an entire gang if on a hero. hehe.

I could see how that could be abused if it's an exploitable bug.

I had one billing issue where a purchase for one of the packs went through an extra time so I contacted PlayNC:

    http://us.ncsoft.com/en/support/
Thx for the info. I was triple billed for a 6 month renewal. Then when they refunded 2 of the charges they deactivated the game for 3 days. Think im going to lose the loyalty rewards for not having a continuous sub til Nov 15. Which may mean no closed beta GR.

    support?

This is odd, since the last patch notes acknowledged a drop rate bug and claim it's been fixed. It only makes you worse when you hear ppl say they got 2 purples in 2 days and you haven't got one in months of reg play.

One solution is to add purples to the AE ticket system. They wouldn't be cheap, but still more attainable than now.

Also, what's the full contact info for Arbiter Kim and would they handle botched billing issues by NCSoft? My opinion of support is pretty low currently.

HOWEVER, this is not just a CPU issue, but a solid HD light as well, Full usage CPU. Even on hardcore gaming rigs, I tested this out at Backspace, a cyber cafe here in portland in thier backroom... (Which has thier best computers on the floor) and even they lock up when either Wentworths or the Blackmarket is opened. However After that first loadup it does seem to go a bit faster when loading.

Still doesn't make any sense why it hits 100% usage all around when the mob is clicked.
My CPU meter gets buried in the red zone by quite a few things in this game. Not sure why that would be for a 5 year old game. My rig is maybe a step or 2 below state of the art, but it handles other, more current, intensive games w/ no problem.

As far as the market, if it's loading all the possible information up front, subsequent searches seem to hang up too.

Yep, it should be an option, not forced. If you want to help a friend w/in the previous 5 lvl xp receiving range you can't. They are forced into -1 sk situation. Not appreciating that at all.

It's probably a coincidence, but an inconvenient one. If you can't see the perception that AE has taken another hit, then your world is all sunshine and daisies.

On the other hand, if it was deliberate, I'd guess it was to keep all the reactivated accounts, esp the disgruntled ones ( incl. min/maxers, pvpers looking for fast lvling shortcuts) that left at the end of last year, from descending over AE to look for exploits.
