Water spout can be pretty tasty as well, useful in RV for flipping heavies over, not so good against players. But yeah, the PPP's suck badly. -

Main point being in a realistic pvp situation like sirens you cant just stand at same point throwing caltrops or ice storming because you will be there all day and not hit anything because they just take a step back and find an opening.

You should have dropped caltrops when you knew you were going to stand still or when you heard the noise of build up. With 3 recharges you can get caltrops up pretty quick. This was before IO's, you could prolly get it going much quicker now with recharges on the set bonuses if you wanted to. Also, placate is pants now. -

Whats different is the poison trap from the poison set. I believe the poison set one is just a sleep or something and has an interrupt time, so its a lot weaker than the traps version. -
yeah, I thought about that. I've even stopped what I'm doing and stared at the buff bar when I suspected I was going to be teleported. I also got someone to teleport me once and didnt see anything appear at all, although I cant remember if it was an enemy or a team mate who helped me try that.
I didnt have any luck spotting the tp icon but if you say it works I'll give it another go. -

Ok. Thinking of em/stone or dark/stone, leaning towards the dark one. I can see all the fancy powers being handy for keeping me alive and my endurance up.

These penalties are heavy, yes. I know it very well, since my 50 is a stone/stone brute.
But it's the price to pay to get a toggled god mode

I mean surely the penalty should be lesser in the brute version, since the benefit is also lesser. No matter, I quite fancy building myself a mobile wall and stone armor seems the way to do that. -

Sets off all a telemining blasters mines, enemy hiding in mobs, and I've stunned empaths before, which gave us time to stop a blaster then kill them. There may be other uses I've never heard of or come across. With all the other toys, traps is still tougher to play than most other sets anyway (since a blaster will chew through things like FFG & tpfoe will hurt). They all have a use though, including seekers. -

I was thinking of making a stoney as well. Anyone know if stone armor for brutes still has the same penalty's as the tank version, but only partial benefits?
IE. the same speed and recharge reduction, but less effective at reducing incoming damage. -

Triage beacon and detonator are hardly awesome powers. Thats 2 stinkers in traps vs only 1 stinker in poison. I think poison is more effective, traps is more in line with how I want to play, so I play traps more often. -

I find it useful, but the aoe and cone attacks seem more in tune with the way I like to play my plant/fire.
Ever tried TKing a load of enemies into a corner and then using fire breath on them btw? -

Stop being daft. Poison is still a really good set, overall its prolly a bit "better" than traps. -
Seems its true.
My guess is it will only be a major problem if it would allow a player to increase perception beyond the perception cap. Otherwise it makes stealth IO's even more attractive for stalkers. -

How high is the difficulty?
Could be its just too much to take on at the moment. In general you will want to use seeds to get the enemies off you then use that thorn cone thing. You can also use the AoE immobalise to keep them grouped up (a side effect of seeds is that it tends to bunch the enemies together). Bunched up is good for that thorny cone. I'd take at least one melee attack. I cant remember which one I have but it tends to hit harder so its useful for finishing off enemies.
Creepers can make a decent ghetto tank or a speed bump when you have to run away. I'd slot 3 recharges in creepers and maybe 3 recharges and 3 accuracy in seeds.
