Quote:This is exactly the style I use. Especially now that you can jump all over the character creation process from costume to body to powers. And sometimes, rarely, I will base the archetype on the name. For instance I had to make my character Perignon a dominator. It was a moral imperative.however more often than not I will simply see where the costume creator takes me.
And I never optimize powers for greatest effectiveness. For me at least doing that changes it from a game into a job. I don't care if I'm not the best at what I do. If the build is capable of soloing then I'm happy with it. -
I recommend unhackme for finding rootkits. It works better than anything else I've tried and has a free evaluation version.
Unhackme
And incidentally the Hijackthis (file not found) error happens with any 64 bit operating system. Apparently writing a complete scanner for 64 bit is a bit more difficult than for 32 bit. Now that 64 bit windows is becoming the version that virtually every computer manufacturer is including, hopefully Trendmicro will come out with a 64 bit version. -
If he is being asked to pay anything other than return postage for a submitted manuscript then it is a scam.
I repeat. If he is being asked to pay ANYTHING then it is A SCAM. -

On each system you want to upgrade ram on go to Crucial.com
Once there you can either choose your system from the drop down menus or do things the easy way and use the system scanner tool. It will let you know how much and what type ram you have. What the maximum ram for your system is. And what ram you should be using. -
Oh yeah that's right. In my late night stupor I forgot that this is one of those Black Friday thingies which is why I hate them in the first place. Only the people who take the day off work, camp outside the front door of the store and then sprint through the doors the moment they open get the HD Televisions.... I mean codes.

So if any of you lucky code getters (who got the code while I was slaving away at work) would like to just randomly give one to me I would be very appreciative though I have nothing more to give you than my thanks. It's weird. None of the other in game stuff matters to me completionist wise. I don't care if I get accolades or badges or all the expansion packs or temp powers. But somehow I am obsessed with the costume codes.

Run these two programs and post the results here so we can get a better idea what kind of system and possible conflicting programs may be causing the trouble.
CoHHelper and Hijackthis
Oh, and there is one other possibility. Somebody had this exact same problem before. It turned out that they had a program running that automatically changed the wallpaper every few minutes. Every time it made the change the game slowed to almost a standstill. -
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Fool me at least once a week since the system came out then mail me a Nigerian money scam because I'll probably fall for that multiple times too.
Honestly with the reliability of the mail system it's like leaving a wad of money on the Starbucks counter and expecting it to still be there any time you walk into the store. -
Up next in costume giveaways. Anybody who happens to be wearing a CoH t-shirt and walking by the front of the office during the time period Avatea goes on break. But only if they are walking by at an odd number minute during an even number hour....
And eating french fries.

I would heartily disrecommend (anti-recommend?) It's Superman by Tom De Haven.
Its about Clark Kent's early years but it completely changes the classic mythology around. It basically makes all the characters unlikable. And the worst sin in my opinion is the writing style. It's first person present so it reads like a transcript from a roleplaying session. "Clark opens his hand slowly and looks at the flattened bullet. Lois steps back startled and raises her hand to her face." That's not an actual excerpt by the way, just an example of the writing style for those who are unfamiliar with it.
The author also seems to have a vendetta against anti smoking types. He reverses the cliche that you see in much heroic fiction in making the bad guys smokers. Instead everybody in the book seems to smoke except for Lex Luthor who fanatically hates the habit and forbids his lackeys to engage in it. Lois and even Clark are smokers in this book.
All in all this book bears about as much similarity to Superman as the movie Starship Troopers did to the Heinlein book but it's far less entertaining. -
That was freaking amazing. They all even used weapons that were pretty much perfect matches for the original weapons.

The updater is trying to install a new version of itself by first renaming itself. Obviously that won't work. Move the updater file itself to your desktop. Not a shortcut but the actual updater file. Run the file from there and point it at the game directory and it should work fine. Afterwords you can delete the copy on the desktop.

Mr. Calor
The SIS Mirage 3 is not very good for this game. It is the probable reason you can not play.
Another possible reason is the file gbpsv.exe. It is for secure banking in Brazil but also can interfere with some programs. Disable it then try the game in safe mode. -
It looks like you have a bad habit of installing every single toolbar you ever even hear mentioned. You've got them for skype, ask, aim, wrestler_unstoppable, gamevance and probably others. Every one of those is an extra process or multiple processes and every one of them is an open invitation for malware.
Toolbars are meant to make it easier to do certain things like link to and monitor games. That's what they are meant to do for you. What they are meant to do for the creator of the toolbars is gather data from your computer which they can sell to advertisers. And since in general toolbar creators don't really care what happens to your computer, most toolbars have multiple exploits that can be used against you.
Keep this in mind. If somebody is offering something for free that you can use to have fun on your computer then it is probably adware and spyware.
At this point in my opinion the best thing you could do would be to start over. Reinstall the operating system and all the programs that you need. Other people will tell you that you could just run multiple anti spyware and anti virus programs and be fine, and they could be right. You might want to wait for the response of some other techs on here to see what they think. I admit I tend to go for drastic measures at times. I hold the "Take off and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." philosophy.
But at the very very least you should uninstall all those toolbars. -
I pronounce it Throatwobbler Mangrove.

Well I did say I would watch it when I got a chance. In that case I withdraw my argument and submit instead that Ghostbusters has all the depth and quality of Grape Ape or Jabberjaws. God how I hated that show.
Good review though. If I hadn't actually seen the series before then I would want to check it out.
I'm sure one of your future forgotten classics will be something I loved that everybody else hated. Bionic Six for instance. -
Well here is some wonderful news. Darabont has fired every last one of the writers from the series. He doesn't plan on hiring a new staff of writers either. He's just going to shop the scripts out to freelancers.
I can see it now
scene: zombie shuffles into a bar full of patrons.
ALL PATRONS: Norm!
Jack Black (in a special guest appearance): Fear not citizens for I Buddy the Zombie slayer will destroy this foul creature with my guitar chords of doom!
Wisecracking kid type: (looiking directly into the camera) Now you guys are probably thinking this guy is gonna get eaten. But I've seen him in action and he's not too bad. And he's also pretty good at fighting zombies.
Edit: It appears I'm a bit late with the news. But the thought behind it stands. Freelancers generally suck if they try to write anything deeper than an episode of friends. -
Oh yeah, forgot about Covenant. That bleak and disturbing series definitely doesn't fall anywhere near the description though. I'm pretty convinced that it is Heroes of Zara Keep which doesn't seem available anywhere.
-
I don't know that I would call Ghostbusters either a Forgotten Classic or under appreciated. It's very well known and still popular. It spawned a sequel and two cartoon series and another sequel is currently in the works. Now Dark Star, Dark City, Ladyhawke, Silent Running. Those are films I would call forgotten or underappreciated.
I'll watch the review when I get a chance. -
Generic indeed. I don't remember any books like this featuring a wolf girl or a guy with a sword hilt that becomes a sword. As for books where real people wind up in a fantasy world the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Quag Keep and the Guardians of the Flame series.
Edit: You should have gone with your first thoughts because there is indeed a book called Heroes of Zara Keep by Guy Gregory. -
All right fine. I know of a way to do it but it will require the cooperation of a large amount of Virtuites. You have to get a large amount of people who have invisibility and the firefly aura. They can just all stand or fly in a line in places like across the front of city hall or all over the Atlas globe.
An alternative is the firefly aura and self destruct. It's been forever since I tried it but self destruct at least uses to leave the aura standing behind. This would also have the advantage of there being no name hovering above the sparkling lights.
Edit: Just tested and the aura does remain behind after using self destruct. So formula for Christmas lights. Multiple players+Firefly aura+Self destruct=Christmas Lights. -
I've made this suggestion before and I feel the need to bring it up every now and then as it is what I consider an absolutely vital QOL addition to the game.
I want to see a mission timer of sorts. Not to limit your stay in the mission but to allow the mission to stay active after you have logged out or mapserved. Currently if you have a mission you can enter it, fight a couple things, go to pocket d and hang out, street sweep through several zones, enter your base and chat on channels for a while. And going back to the mission after all this it doesn't matter if you have taken 5 hours in between, the mission will still be as it was. Those first few mobs defeated and the map uncovered as far as you uncovered it.
On the other hand you can fight your way completely through one of the nightmare CoT maps or multi level multi elevator lab maps and get to the final room then get mapserved. It doesn't matter if you were only out of the game for a minute, when you log back in the entire mission has been reset and you face the choice of either working your way through the nightmare again or else auto completing the mission.
I just want a countdown timer on missions. If somebody logs out or is mapserved then the mission will remain exactly as it was left for 10 minutes. Not until next login. Not even an hour, just 10 minutes. -
I actually prefer appearing right next to it because when I'm using ouro as a quick travel path I like being able to go Atlas<click>Ouro<click>Peregrine. Rather than Atlas<click>Ouro<run run run click> Peregrine.
I have personally never experienced a bunch of people afk on the arrival pad. You must play on the lazyboy server. -
Post the results of these two programs. It will help us narrow down the problem.
