Here is where I must interject.

I think the reason players get up in arms over knockback, is that it lowers the XP/minute in their eyes and anything that does that is to be shunned when holding that viewpoint.

In my opinion, min/maxing is fun. Min/maxing every encounter, every minute, every time, is not.

Frankly, in my opinion, getting upset over knockback rather than trying to see how many interesting ways you can place an enemy using the ragdoll physics, is a sure sign of a person that forgot they are playing a game, rather than trying to earn a living in a second job.

My group playing all double XP weekend with knockback, laughed and had fun while earning xp. Did your KB hating team laugh as much?

Wow. I am just really glad I don't have to team with gamers like this.

In the years I have played, I have yet to see someone kicked for a 'bad build'. I have, however, quit a few PUGs that start to even sound like they are build snobs and I min/max pretty much all my characters.

The whole idea of XP leaching is hilarious to me as well. Since most of the time my character can take on the mission alone, why would I care if the baby needs to be fed?

I really think some people, thankfully a pretty small portion that play this game anyway, don't know how to relax. Sad really.
  4. My response is "Woo Whoo!" More stuff!

To anyone with pretty much anything less than that, that entitlement bug "up there" needs to die; studies show you'll live much longer without all that stress in your lives.
  5. I did the same thing with a different rare salvage this weekend...15 million when I meant to bid 1.5 million.

Sometime the fingers need to be slammed in a door for their insolence.

Heh. My first thought was that it was a joke, should have gone with that.

    I'll get my sarcastometer checked.

    *shrug*

I can't believe so many people geek rage over so many small things.

The entire idea that $5-10 dollars difference in pricing or when certain things can be acquired for a game can cause so much anger and angst in grown adults, is simply astonishing to me.
  8. This thread is, again, proof positive that people will, in fact, find a way to complain about anything.

Like many in this thread, however, I am happy that new things are being added and equally happy to pay for them, without quibbling over differences in price that amount less than a single lunch, nor caring about the format in which they can be acquired.

So you can sit on your high horse and call others names but when you start others can't?

You have one, consistent message in all your ranting here that Talen_Lee points out nicely; you think you are more virtuous, smarter and a better human being than people that would try and make a profit in the games market.

I have a friend that has a martyr complex like that. He has my sympathy as well.

You have a secondary message that seems to be something like "Some items on the market can be manipulated in price sometimes, therefore the entire market is being constantly manipulated all the time."

This secondary message has been dis-proven over and over here, as well as within the market itself. Therefore you fall back to your primary message repeatedly.

If your message was ""Some items on the market can be manipulated in price sometimes and I think it's wrong to do that" you might have gotten a different reaction, but probably not because of the holier than thou attitude you lace your posts with at every turn.

Personally I have made all of the inf to outfit my characters by following the oh-so-virtuous trio of rules you laid out:

    Quote:
Here's an idea, think for yourself and figure out how to make inf. without
ex 1) trying to whodo players
ex 2) asking a forum for help
ex 3) buying it from rmt'ers
Do I get to be a saint now as well? Saint Juba has a nice ring to it!

I just love it when people who think they are better than others try to show everyone the one true path. It provides me with quite a bit of entertainment.

Thanks again for making me smile. Keep on posting, please, I love to read this kind of thing over coffee in the morning for a good laugh to start the day.
  10. eryq2,

How about you just keep nerd raging over what you perceive as big issues and I'll just keep enjoying a game I love to play.

  11. eryq2,

I know people that play this game for less than 10 hours a week that have billions of influence and IO all of their characters very well, through smart shopping and crafting things themselves.

One of my best friends started playing and in less than one month, just from buying recipes and crafting them for sale, had more influence available for buying IOs than some of us that had played for years.

Influence is literally created in this game. That is where the inflation you see really comes from, the fact that more currency is created by the minute.

In this topic, as with others I have seen you discuss, you simply refuse to see reason if it does not cater to your world view, regardless of the facts at hand.

The thing that you are railing against the most here, the idea of buying all of something and then being able to set the price, cannot even be done for than a few hours here and there on specific things.

The reason prices are high on things really is simple.

More currency is printed rapidly and people are willing to pay high prices. Add to that, it is play money in a game (that many of us realize that) and you have the market as it is today.

This overall greed you speak of does not do to the market what you claim.

But, by all means, continue to espouse the nonsense you enjoying spreading around so that people who really understand how things work can use you as an example to educate others.

    SD/SS superness

My SD/SS is a non-stop wrecking machine. Energy Torrent+Shield Charge+Foot Stomp is just sick. Then Knockout Blow for the big guys.

Attack chain for me is some combo of AS, Haymaker and KO Blow when the AoEs are recharging.

With ~50% defense to all positions (I know it's over the cap but it helps against de-buffs), ~45% Global Recharge with room for some more. I have not even bothered to take Hasten.

I am spoiled on this guy. I might make a brute just like him.

Truly, I have found 'My Tank'.
  13. Thanks Werner!

Sounds like I have my new Scrapper.
  14. I am torn. Either one suits me, I am really curious as to which one will be stronger for overall performance.

My gut tells me that WP could be the overall stronger choice.

I really want to build an AV killer using katana and one of these two secondaries seems like the right choice.

    Thoughts?
  15. I am curious if anyone has done the math on if it's better to slot this for typed or positional defense with Electric Armor.

My current build has decent resists and ~32% defense to AoE and Range, with 10% to melee before DA.

I am starting to try and think harder as to how to pull up the defense numbers and it occurred to me that I might be better off going for positional defenses.

    Thoughts?

  17. I can get on board about upgrading existing TO/DO/SO Enhancements to the next available level with a streamlined process. Provided you are at the right shop, I don't see this as much of a problem from any aspect.

As for IOs of any sort, I don't think there is any viable way to do what you propose. The system is simply too complex for this type of QoL improvement. Since the supply is based solely upon the players, coupled with the fact there is no need to upgrade IOs in the same fashion as they never wear out, this breaks down even further.
  18. Thinking more about Zone than anything, at least to start.

I looked closer and I also have an Ill/Rad and an Ill/Storm that I could move.

I guess I could just move 'em all and start fooling around in RV since I can move them back.
  19. E^3 Blaster
    MA/Regen Scrapper

Probably only going to take the time to outfit one, which one would, in general, be the better PvP contender?

    Thanks.
  20. I have always been disappointed that the story lines Villain side were not evil enough for my tastes.

While I don't begrudge there being many mercenary arcs, I do wish there were more arcs that came across as truly reprehensible.

I know I can make them in the AE; it's just not the same when I made it and know what's going to happen.

So, I guess I have it in me.
  21. Thanks All!

So far I am at 16th level and it's very fun, solo and duo.

We will see what the 'end result' looks like, but it is great so far.
  22. Oh my.

I had no idea my friends and I have been getting ripped off for years or that the game we have enjoyed playing together for hours on end was, in fact, supposed to make us angry. I mean, those badge changes alone means we wasted so much time having fun.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll pass on the info!

  24. Awww...

You couldn't play your game for a couple of hours...

    How sad.

Seriously. People never cease to amaze me at how much they can spout off their entitlement laden dribble.

This is not the phone or electric company. Not an ICU unit at the hospital. It's a computer game. No life threating service involved. Sometimes things are more complicated than you might think...Oh wait, I doubt there is much in the way of thinking involved in the OP beyond "WAAAAHHHH! I can't play so the company and all the people who work on it must suck."

Yeah, that's right, I went there. Take your entitlement and your $15/month elsewhere. The overall uptime on this game has always rocked, regardless of your perception of it.
  25. Thinking about making a Plant/TA.

Wondering if anyone has any input or advice.

Have not played either set very high, curious if there is any good synergy, etc.
