So if someone shows a you a build that will never run out of endurance, that is not sufficient to you? You have been shown builds that can do that, I have seen them in the same threads.

Do you even read what you type, Ultimo_?

    Wow.

This is why people that don't know anything about how networking, computers and technology in general should never be allowed to make laws about or design things having to do with technology.

OP, just give up on this one, you have NO idea what you are talking about here.

No amount of reasonable or unreasonable discussion has ever gotten through to the OP about the fact his expectations of the game are the problem, not the game.

    Sad really.

I cannot recall anything I have seen you post being positive toward the game, thus my post. It's not just this particular thing with you from where I sit.

Perhaps you love to hate it?

I am simply bored with people who don't seem to like anything about the game but never stop playing it.

    HA!

I think it's "chump change" and I am well aware of how the world works.

I was raised dirt poor..electricity and water got cut off regularly, I ate food given to my family by charity, etc.

You know what? Sometimes you can afford things and sometimes you cannot. THAT is understanding reality.

Just because it is out of your price range does NOT mean it is overpriced.

Being poor SUCKS. It does not, however, mean that people who are not poor should not enjoy what they are fortunate to have financially or that they do not understand the real world. It just means that they are lucky enough to not be poor.

Sure you should provide feedback. Just don't expect those of us without entitlement issues and irrational logic to agree or let those opinions slide without comment.

Honestly, in the end, the final straw for me to leave this game, if it happens before they turn off the servers, will be knowing I might accidentally team with one of the entitled masses and help them level. The idea of that alone makes me leery to except team invites already.
  8. Love it!

    More great options.

    Why no farming?

Nothing like mining/farming would be of interest to me personally.

I was mainly responding to the idea that these things could be done within the genre.

I don't think it adds much to gameplay either.
  10. MajorPrankster

    Why no farming?

    Why not make it 'researching'?

Instead of 'mining', you go into your 'secret lab' and 'experiment', coming up with new 'elements' and 'formulas' that create 'better' or new inspirations (perhaps combos).

Even the non-scientific heroes in comics often get goodies from some scientist's lab experiments.

You could use the X-Men style Danger Room to do the same thing - you train in your 'super-gym'.

Lots of ways to this without breaking the genre.
  11. This happens to me sometimes, also have a 5870.

A reboot typically fixes it. Reloading the CCC runtime sometimes fixes it.

I notice it most if I have been playing other games before CoH.
  12. My SG is a group of RL friends.

Does getting a non-CoH playing friend addicted count as a bad practice?

    Hypocritical patronizing much?

I doubt you can even see it; you have obviously shown that you think you 'know better' than the Devs.

    What MMO have you built?

To the specific point here, like for any business, it's all ROI. I have yet to see anyone come close to proving a positive ROI on allowing multiples of the same name on the same server. I have always wanted same names to not even be allowed on other servers, so obviously there are a number of points of view at work here.

Can it done? Certainly. Would it take a terribly large amount of coding? I doubt it. Would it be good for the revenue generated by the game? That's the real question now, isn't it?

Players need to be emotionally invested in their characters to remain loyal. While there are a number of factors to the emotional investment, name and look are two of the most compelling. Trivializing the name component (obviously someone can already copy your look) would, IMO, lower the emotional investment many players have. That points directly to continued subscriptions and thus revenue.

I see nothing but negative ROI. If the Devs see positive ROI, then I am sure they will make the change.

If we get cross server teaming, then obviously some change will have to be made. I have seen server merges in other games us the ideas posted here; simply use the 'of ServerName' moniker. While I don't personally even like that, at least you are the 'real' thing from your 'alternate universe'.

My reply to you is lrn2live. You want hard? Get out in the real world and find something to challenge you. The rest of us will be relaxing with a fun pastime taking a break from challenging lives.

You want a hard? Take up chess and let us know when you hold some international titles. Or perhaps the stock market and shower us all with your billions because you beat everyone at 'the game'.

It's a text book definition of insanity to think you are the only one that is right.

Thanks, that make perfect sense based upon what I am seeing.

Would anyone mind watching a grown man cry now? I hate me some jaggies...
  17. I have an ATI 5870.

The newest 10.8 drivers do seem to make things better, FPS is higher, etc.

However, it looks to me as if the FSAA actually got worse in the way it looks. I notice far more 'jaggies' than I did before.

I had been messing with my Direct X install for a another game and I re-installed that as well, no difference.

I can tell FSAA is working because moving the slider is making a difference, it just seems as if it's just not working as well.

    Has anyone else seen this?

You're standing on a pile of KoA caltrops and the boss you're trying to beat down is now half way across the room and you can't get to him.

It's not just that it slows down the group, it's that it neuters melee characters and doesn't allow them to use the powers they chose for their characters. For every bit of "fun" you have by throwing knockback carelessly, you are stripping fun away from the melee character in the group, as they are not being given the same option of using their powers that you have.
I play melee characters that have KB themselves.

I play melee characters that have team mates that KB.

I have never, ever in any way, shape or form, felt neutered because of this.

Nor I am an idiot with my KB. Of course it's rude to KB some targets, depending upon the situation. Duh!

If you get this worked up over KB, then you might want to consider the decaff.
  19. Personally, I have never been kicked playing a character with KB and I cannot recall even getting a comment about it.

I am a pro-KB fanatic. Pretty much all my characters have it to some degree.

If I was ever kicked for it or berated about it, then I would simply have more people to add to my Global ignore list (the single global on that list would love some company anyway).

Why? Because, as far as I am concerned, if you really think that the perceived "time to kill slowdown" caused by KB is annoying, I don't ever want to play games with you, because I think you forgot how to have fun and relax.

KB is fun, Fun, FUN! If you have a different opinion on that, you are certainly entitled to it. I am simply happy I don't have to team with such uptight people.
  20. Consider this a troll post if you like; I really would like to understand the psyche of the people involved however, it's fascinating in it's own way.

What could anyone possibly do to another player in this game to illicit the type of drama that seems to be so prevalent on Champion? I just don't get it. Even in heavy PvP games I have never had interactions that would make me upset enough to do or say things that would get an account banned or the like.

Perhaps I am just blind to the lack of emotional maturity some people have or something. I really just don't understand. How can you get so upset over playing a game like this? There is no money involved, like in Vegas for instance, there is no possibility of real life harm, as in sports.

So someone says something you don't like? Ignore them and move on with your fun time. Do these same people rage quit their jobs when the boss or a coworker mentions that they prefer a certain political party or disagree with the the way handled a client?

Based solely on reading the Champion server board, I will never set foot on the server because of the apparent lack of maturity that seems to run rampant amount the long time players there. I just don't get it.

    OK.

Your opinion is that these things need to happen, and that, as an opinion, is quite valid.

There are, apparently, several thousand paying customers that simply do not share that opinion, proven through the data mining talked about here as well as the personal comments.

I have been here pretty much from the start like many of the other posters and I am not board with the game, even after a dozen or so 50's and who knows how many other characters at this point. All of my RL friends that play the game are not board with it either, the ones that have been here form the start as well as the new ones.

It seems obvious by your remarks on tactics as well, that you desire a different game. City is what it is. There are thousands of us that like it the way it is. I have a very, very stressful, mentally challenging job. The last thing I want to do with my free time is have to come up with and follow a complex strategy in my video game world. I just want to kill lots of pixels and laugh with my friends as we send the bad guys flying off of buildings on fire.. I know I am not alone in this.

With other MMOs, the things that you think need to occur as well as more complex combat strategy can be found and that's where you can find them. Plenty of us, hopefully enough to keep the game going, love the way it works here now; love that the game does NOT start at 50 and love getting 'more of the same'.

As an addendum, that 'other' MMO just released statistics stating that less than 30% of the players every get past level 10. Even there, 'endgame' is not the only game.
  22. I have been playing my IO'ed MA/WP.

He is now even more powerful! With the recharge I have currently, EC and DT are fairly well synced. EC+DT is now like having another AoE due to the crits.

With CS in the mix now, I am ripping through spawns quite well, since there is always a power waiting.

Basically, my MA/WP is my new 'main'. His name does not hurt either - Kungfucius.
  23. I dunno...seeing Batman in some of those costumes makes me wonder if he might like to watch gladiator movies with me...
  24. "I am not Jeffrey."

This is the phrase that my wife and I repeat whenever we are headed into OCD territory.

Jeffrey was the most OCD person I have ever met.

OCD has no place in my life.
