Here goes...
Base Repricing
1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
AWESOME!!! It will help out ALL of my small bases and make them medium to large bases; a high majority will NOW have the opportunity to be made raid-ready!
2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
Auto-refund check took care of this, however, I will probably be increasing the size of nearly every room i have, so I'm sure dismantling will be in order
3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
uh. 2 seconds to enter base editor. Rebuilding the base; an 8x12 hidden changed to a 24x24 secure map (i think) took 7 hours of effort, NOT counting being decorative.
4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
I have no negative; only positive
5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
Short term: I will be spending months rebuilding my 25 bases
Long Term: I can do base raids, have all the base equipment I need to actually operate, and teleporters to zones instead of having to go next door in the coalition and keep using theirs
Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
First, NO ONE will leave invention salvage in the base; its all up to me now.
Second, after having hundreds of salvage items, I am now getting far fewer invention items; oh and no place to store them.
Third, the brainstorm plan seems like a great conversion tool to you; its cumbersome, painful, and evil to me. The rare salvage drops i tried to get at 40:1 ratio is terrible; the net gain i got for my efforts when i had dozens of experimental tech and runes and tech power now equate to a chessy random rare. I'm screwed.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
None.
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
the conversion system? You pick it up quickly, but its cumbersome to crunch the numbers for your BS's vs invention items. Again, you have to plan for storage restrictions now too, so I can't go 'hog wild' on commons, can I? I get more 'rare' invention items 'playing the game' for several hours than I was able to amass after 2 YEARS of base salvage hunting. Yea, great help there. NOT.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
To answer these two questions, the answer is here; the biggest concerns of all; theft and apathy.
THEFT: "Damn, I need Hamidon Goo to get me my fifth specialized IO for my PL'd 50; ah! I'll raid the base storage"; net result: the base isn't able to update and get new items 'cause everyone is going to raid it. Yea yea, i know 'change the permissions'; that's how i lost 1/2 of one of my SG's last time because I did that; not a good trade off; its nearly a Catch 22.
APATHY: SG LEADER: "Hey SG! We need some more invention salvage to help get new stuff for the base that we need, like a new power generator so we can get those additional teleporters you all wanted; so can you drop off more invention salvage to help, please?" ANGRY MOB: We never had to help before; why do we have to help now; I'm using MY salvage for ME; why should I help you? I'm already giving you prestige; suck it up"
THe players have taken to using Invention salvage for their OWN purposes in the game thusfar, not having to share it. NOW, they have to share/help, because the cheap and non-affective 'base' salvage didn't concern them; if they got some after several mishes, they dumped it in the bins in the base; now, the player has to choose. ME or THEM. With SG/VG apathy on the rise; ME ME ME
Additional Notes:
The conversion is the deathblow to me being able to build things and give players in the SG/VG the pieces they needed to use the empowerment buffs at teh empowerment stations relatively easily.
Now, I'll have to work TWICE as hard to figure out which salvage i need vs crap since storage in the bases in dramatically curtailed. Hell, it takes me 2 storage bins just to house our event salvage, and that's with me holding onto a hefty remainder!
At least we had a system and the base salvage didn't affect regular players' efforts and needs; NOW, the same salvage THEY need is the same salvage the SG/VG needs; I have to fight them for it or pay for it myself on the market. I liked it better when they just dumped off all the excess base salvage, and i took care of it from there.
I'm screwed. My SG leaders will now be routinely poor just to keep the bases in a state of use. Thanks for nothing in the conversion area (F-). Repricing was uber (A+)
.
Thus my average grade for this is a C. -
Greetings, villains!
If you are looking for a casual, yet active band of villains, with an Arachnos theme, look no further! Arachnos is hiring!
We have a 4-group band of VGs with an even larger coalition tied to each VG. Here are links to our websites for these VGs:
Knights of Arachnos
Legion of Arachnos
Champions of Arachnos
Mystics of Arachnos
The Knights of Arachnos is an active, large-sized group of tech/natural players that enjoy lots of teaming, events, Strike Forces and Mothership Raids.
The Legion of Arachnos is a medium-sized group which deals with a more mutant/science based band of characters that routinely participate in coalition teaming and events.
The Champions of Arachnos is an active and large VG which boasts to have the most prestige on Freedom under the "Arachnos" search name in the base searches!! The complete base is extensively large and a great place to do events, RP and a perfect place to get what you need for that next mssion or Strike Force! Base has everything.
The Mystics of Arachnos is a smaller, newer Natural/Magic orgin based group with an Arachnos theme. ALthough the base is smaller, it has the basic essentials for any VG member, and of course access to all our Arachnos coaltion/VG members.
We hold MANY events and activities, to include Strike Force Saturdays, Badge Hunt Sundays, several annual events, anniversaries and costume contests to include our Arachnos Winter Bash Event, Halloween Hunt'n Party Event, Arachnos Summer Sizzler Event, and our own "Destroy Spring!" Event.
We pride ourselves in helping out newer players or those that are not familiar with the 'villains' side of the game.
There is no mandatory requirement for costumes, archetypes, or names in any of these VGs. All we do ask is to play in SG Mode up to and including level 25. That's it!
If you are interested, or would like some more information about any one of these VGs, contact me via my global @Major Deej. I'm normally online after 6pm Eastern time, and on most all of the weekend.
Our websites are part of a megagroup, the 'Major Deej Universe' (see sig below), and contain webpages for news, event calendar, and even our own forums!
I truly hope your search is over in finding one of these four VGs as a new home for your villainous Freedom character! -
Alex,
THANK YOU for all you've done for the game. This is an incredible community, and as such are emotional and vocal about that which they love. That has placed you in the crosshairs of many players.
The overwhelming majority of this post has identified your great effort and work with this community, and knows that you have done a great job. Some are not as pleased. In this community, it is near impossible to please everyone, yet, you have achieved a majority of positive responses here, and as such, should feel damn proud of the work you have done.
Best of luck to you, Alex. With CoH on your resume, I don't think you have much to worry about in the job hunting field. Thank you for all you've done. Major Kudos from Major Deej!!

Instant sadness at hearing this.
I remember in my first few weeks in the game, where I had NEVER played a MMO ever, I had no idea about the forums or how to communicate effectiviely with the community. One person I teamed with mentioned simply, "you need to go to the CoH Website forums; look for 'Lighthouse' in the forums; read LH's posts and the devs posts and you'll get nearly all you need to know what's going on in the community." I did, and it was an eye opening experience.
I had never experienced this type of community, and seeing you, LH, speaking colloquial English, no cyber-geek lingo, leading and directing others where to get info and what was the latest in game. For the first few weeks, I actually thought you WERE the lead designer (sorry Posi and Jack!). Of course with time, comes wisdom and understanding; I'm better educated now - lol.
Aside from that, almost daily, I've looked for your postings with a near bated breath to know what was the latest 411 on the game and it's community. The sunset has now fallen upon the Lighthouse of CoH. Indeed as I write this, I am deeply saddened with your departure, but as you mention, we must all move on.
THANK YOU for being our 'lighthouse' in this game. You have indeed left an impression here with me. You expertise, dedication, and professionalism are indeed an example for others to follow. Without you, I would not have had the positive 'experience' in this game that I had.
Good luck, LH; you shall be sorely missed.
/e salute
-A sad and tearful Major Deej -
I just noticed on this version of the new CoH website homepage banner area that there are no links to the EU/German/French "flags"/icons, unlike the old website style or the EU website homepage.
Will these links be placed back in? -
Eeeexcellent, Smithers....
Everything is going as planned...Bruce is writing follow-on storylines and content, including NON-Co-Op missions...
...All is proceeding as we have foreseen it...finally.... -

My guess is some coder opened up the base building code, there was this high, piercing scream and they later found him huddled on the floor, repeating only the words "... the horror... the horror..."

I lol'd. Thanks for the laugh.

I laughed so loud the few folks that were in and around my cube area officially think i'm insane now.
DAMN that was funny! Thanks for making my day! -

The 'fly/hover flapping arms after zoning"effect happened to me several times on different servers, hero and villain side, when transitioning from either the tram or the ferry. As soon as I zone in, his/her arms commence flapping like a distressed TV cartoon character.
Aside from the entertainment value the first couple of times, i noticed if you move forward about a dozen feet or so, the flapping will stop; anything less than that and he/she will continue to flap his/her arms.
I also agree with some of the other forum posters that the new animation for hover and flight doesn't feel and look right (sorry, BaBs; I know you tried).
Hopefully this can be fixed. The flapping arms entertainment value has official waned; now it is annoying.
On a positive note, aside from the small font bug and the rotated mini-skirt (argh) that are now relatively fixed, I am very pleased overall with Issue 12.
I am in dubious wonder of Issue 13 and what the new, larger CoH/V creative team at NCSoft will produce.
Please fix the zoning flapping arms issue and the new fly/hover animation though. Thanks. -
BRAVO! Fantastic job of discerning our SG and base needs! thanks, MS! All the items mentioned on the bugs and wishlists I agree with 100%.
Highly recommend the melding of the new forthcoming mission creator function for players to be tied to run those missions off of the base's Mission Computer. This, in my opinion, would draw MANY folks back into the SG fold, and would create a whole new world for SGs to run their own SG-based missions.
Kudos and thanks again, MS! -
Happy Birthday Brimstone Bruce! Damn, Positron gives out damn nice B-Day presents, eh?

Thank you, Positron and company as well for making this game the best ever!

* Leaders:
Lord Arachnid
* Preferred Method of contact:
global: @Major Deej, i'm online usually in the evenings and weekends, Eastern US time zone, or you can send me a PM in the forums here.
* VG Description:
Arachnos-themed, but you don't have to have a "Soldier of Arachnos" to join! Open to anyone! The VG follows the Arachnos organziation, but is considered to be one of the best ground force units, especially against the Rikti!
How the VG is Run:
Casual yet active, medium/large sized (over 120 members) group that is open to all aspects of play. We've also been known to do a little light RP at times too! There's normally over a dozen or two folks logged in per day.
Additional info:
We have a scheduled set of activities to include Strike Force Saturdays, Badge Hunt Sundays, Flashback Fridays, biweekly Trial runs, and lots of VG events, Mothership Raids, and more.
Large coaltion, with 3 other Arachnos-themed VGs, and several other busy and active VGs on the server.
As for the base, we have nearly everything you could ask for in a base; auto docs, teleporters to all zones, Pillar of Ice and Fire, tons of storage bins, enhancment storage, inspriation storage, vault, invention tables, workbenches, and a nice large base layout with a fairly 'arachnos' feel to it.
The only requests we ask of our fellow Knights is to play in SG Mode up to level 25; after that, its your choice to remain in SG mode or not. -
OMG this has to be the BEST April Fool's joke!
1st, because i took the hook, then reread it, and the new I12 title tipped me off. Looked at calendar; yep, April 1st. Kudos!
2nd, I go to the forums with popcorn in hand wanting to see the incredible show that was to come; I haven't laughed this hard in months!! A lot of folks TRULY believe this is to be a new feature!
3rd, The April Fool's joke BACKFIRED on the devs; people want it!!! THis is priceless!!! This is simply too much!!! My cheeks are hurting from smiling and laughing at this!!! OMG, this is epic!!!
4th, CoH make it into Wikipedia for our April Fool's tomfoolery!!
Devs, you get a MAJOR gold star and kudos for this! I just truly hope you are ready to deal with the posters who actually WANT this feature!!! LOL!!!
Oh, and ....Happy April Fool's Day to you too, devs and community!!!! -
EPIC WIN!
When I saw this AT WORK, I laughed like I haven't in years!! Everyone around me thought I was crazy!! Of course, showing them the clip wasn't even an option (bunch of old timer engineers here who don't even know what a Rickroll is, vice Rick Astley).
Major Kudos on this!!! Absolutely FANTASTIC!! Take a bow! -

I was surprised to find my main character still hadn't picked up his Watchman accolade when I started this weekend. Nonetheless to say, he picked it up; only needed two bombs to finish it.
I was also able to get four other characters on different servers their accolade also; most of them were very close, and just like the previous post had mentioned, all they needed was one bomb since Issue 10's initial Global Invasion.
It was extremely cool to see all the new COH/V members oooing and ahhhing and cycling about the invasion ("what's happening? what am I supposed to do? How do I stop the drop ships?"). This weekend was truly full of awesomsauce!!!
Although I had to work a bit this weekend, I did do marathon sessions totaling nearly 34 hours since Friday evening to Sunday evening! I was even able to get a friend of mine onto a trial account to let him experience the event! He loved it!
To the community reps, devs, and NC Soft, THANK YOU for doing this!!!! everyone I teamed up with this weekend for a zone invasion was excited and ecstatic about it!! Kudos, team!!! You did great!!
NOW,...lets get back to Issue 12 info......heheheehehhe!
