    NCSoft, I do hope you're reading this.

    There is little that can be said, little that I can add to our struggle to save City of Heroes. Nevertheless, say and add it I shall.

    NCSoft made the decision, however poor a decision it might be, to shut down the game. Certainly that is their perogative; they own the IP, the code, the engine, the servers, everything. It is entirely their choice to do whatever they want. And it's understandable: they are in classic "business panic" mode. One quarter of reduced profits possibly affecting their inflated yearly bonuses frightened them so much that they decided to shut down their lowest-profiting game. "A permanent solution to a temporary problem," I believe someone said. Then, to compound the error, instead of selling off the IP -- thereby not only making a profit, but diffusing the anger directed toward them -- they refuse to entertain any offers and stand fast to their committment of closing down the game.

    However.

    What NCSoft apparently fails to realize is that gamers are by nature very loyal, but also very capricious. Choice is a two-way street. You choose to shut down the single most versatile MMO in history? A game that offers experiences no other games of its kind can? Fine, I choose to never spend money on another of your titles again. To paraphrase 'Rescue Me', "This isn't a threat, it's a ******* promise." No Aion, no Guild Wars 2, no Blade and Soul, nothing with an "NCSoft" anywhere in the credits.

    NCSoft, for whatever reason -- be it bad management, pride, fear of losing face, or just sheer bull-headed stubbornness -- is incable of realizing what they are losing. There is no other game that allows you to change your character's appearance -- costume, hair, powers -- whenever you want, with the variety available here. It took six years for any other game to have a character creator even slightly equivalent to CoH, and that was Eve Online's "Incursion" expansion. There is no other game that allows you to be anything you want. Three-foot tall, insect-winged, axe-wielding pyrokinetic? Do-able. Mysterious energy being from before time began now inhabiting the body of an eight-foot tall steampunk robot? Do-able. Rail-thin zombie who punches people so hard they float through the air with the greatest of ease? Do-able. We don't want to just be a human or an orc. We don't want to just be a Jedi Knight. We don't want to just be a superhero in training. We want to be anything; we want to be everything. This is what CoH is, this is why we are enraged at the thought of losing it.

    In short, NCSoft has a property that lets people do things that even three or four other games put together cannot do. A property that was turning a profit, that required very little from them in the way of time or advertising, that was overseen by a dedicated, loyal and friendly team of developers. They had all of that, and because of costs incurred by another game created by another studio, decided that the logical thing to do was not take action against the offending developer, but closing a completely unrelated title. Shutting down a still-profitable game is not a good business decision on the best of days, still less when you realize that by shutting down CoH, they actually removed one of their revenue streams. By what logic does someone decide that losing money is best offset by then purposely making even less money? The company no longer knows what it is doing, and this is obvious when you look back and see that the entire experience, from the announcement to this date, has been one enormous sequence of missteps, half-truths, idiotic decisions and blatant lies.

    I'm still playing. I'm going to play until they literally yank the cords out of the servers at midnight November 30. I don't know what I'll do after that.

    One thing I do know, however: no way will it have anything to do with an NCSoft title.
  2. For Martial Arts, I'd like to see the Cobra Strike able to be replaced with a Muay-Thai knee strike.

    I'd also like to see alternate versions of the Kheldians' Nova and Dwarf forms.

  4. The Warrior Gloves are also missing on Huge Models. This is the second time that the both of them have gone missing. On the same model, no less.
  5. I, also, will not be buying this pack.

    I know it's been said before but $8 for nothing but emotes seems like a bit of a waste of money to me. $4 for this would have been a more fitting price but, since that would make the accountants cry, I feel that the Devs' best option really would be to add more stuff to it(With no raise to the current price).

    I'm amazed that the Devs still haven't said anything about 10 pages worth of much negative feedback.. Usually they're better about addressing issues like this.
  6. Something that's really irked me for the longest time for Scrapper/Brute Fire Melee is that half of the powers in this version of the set seem to revolve around swords. Don't get me wrong, the set is marvelous for damage but, if I really wanted to swing a sword around, I would've taken Broadsword or Katana or Dual Blades.

    In my humble opinion, Fire Melee should be about burning everything to a crisp and not about swinging around a sword(unless that's what somebody else wants).

    Perhaps some new animation options would be in order? I think that'd be awesome!
  7. The "Warrior" and "Tai" gloves are missing from the Huge Model's selection of gloves... AGAIN.
  8. I noticed at the launch of i17 the "Huge" character frame has the two sets of gloves from the Martial Arts booster set (Warrior and Tai) are missing.

    Anybody else notice this? The Tai Gloves are a personal favorite of mine.

  10. I was thinking of turning my Psy/NrG blaster(Justice: Ikari Nagami)'s brain bullets and "Pompoms" to an angry-looking red to match his aura.

    My main Scrapper(Virtue: Maximus Leo)'s Invuln will change to Gold I think.

    I have a few other Ideas, but I dunno just yet.
  11. I understand your desire for more proliferation of Powersets for i16. Some of them I agree with even;

    Arrows for Corruptors? I love the idea!
    Radiation Blast for Blasters? It's about time!
    Cold Domination for Controllers? Thank you!
    Earth Assault for Dominators? I like that!
    Scrappers and Tankers getting the Elec Sets? Cool!

    Also there's
    AR/Traps for Defenders. Interesting, I guess.
    Thermal for MM's? I suppose it would work

    No these are all good ideas, and I'm looking forward to these but the last two....

    Brutes getting Claws and Stalkers Getting Broadsword.

    uhhh Where's the logic behind this? The Broadsword is big and clunky, definitely NOT something a STEALTH-ORIENTED character would be swinging around (Cliche anime characters notwithstanding)Beyond that, Stalkers allready have a sword option and Brutes do not (Not counting the Dual Blades set that is shared by Stalkers and Brutes). To me, Broadsword seems more like a better choice to give to the Brute AT. Now let's be honest about things. I know a lot of people have been asking for Claws on a Brute, but the same things that make Broadsword strange for a Stalker make it perfect for a Brute.

    So if we don't give the Broadsword to Scrappers, what can we give to it? I'm thinking Ice Melee(and Armor). That set needs some travel time and I think it would work well for a Stalker. IMHO it make a LOT more sense than the Broadsword.

    Just my two cents here. No flames please.

  13. I dunno if this has been said/suggested yet, but I had an idea on how you could make Energy Melee(At least) customizable.

    Turn it into an "Aura" on the hands. I know this wouldn't work for any of the other particle-based powers out there but I think this would work for Energy Melee, and maybe Energy Manipulation.

    Just my 2 inf here.

    Armor of Vines (Personal Toggle: Resist Smash Lethal and Toxic)
    Thorntrops*
    Fling Thorns*
    *= As per Thorny Assault

    Defender: Frost Mastery
    Chilling Embrace
    Ice Sword
    Frozen Armor
    Hibernate

    Scrapper: Pyre Mastery (As per Tanker)
    Tanker: Darkness Mastery (As per Scrapper)

    Just thought I'd ask/suggest. Take it as you will.
  15. WARNING!!! INCOMING RANT!!!

    I still say that Tanks should have gotten Elec Armor and Melee and Stalkers should have gotten the Ice Sets. Both of which would have made MUCH more sense than what they ended up getting. The ONLY reason I can see Stalkers getting what they got was thwe Mu Mastery patron pool, which I feel is a rather poor reason.. Dark for Tankers made no sense at all... >_<;;;

    Now that I got that out of my system, I would like to say that the other additions to the other powersets were very interesting and extremelty helpful!
  16. As far as powersets go, I've taken a little look at what each AT currently has and I've narrowed down what might be chosen for each set. (The stuff that allready has been announced I'm leaving out,

    Brute Secondary: Regen, Ice Armor (Regen seems like the best bet, but there's that one part of me that just wants to see Brutes have Ice Powers)

    Controller Secondary: Dark Miasma Cold Domination, Thermal Radiation

    Corruptor Primary: Electric Blast (IF they're getting storm, this seems like the most logical set to add)

    Defender (This was a tough consideration)
    Primary: Traps
    Secondary: Assault Rifle

    Mastermind Secondary: Kinetics, Radiation Emission (Tough cal)

    Scrapper: (Possibilites galore, here)
    Primary: Energy Melee, Electric Melee
    Secondary: Energy Aura, Electric Melee

    Stalker (Like the Defender this was tough to figure out)
    Primary: Ice Melee
    Secondary: Ice Armor (This stems from me not giving up on more Ice sets for Villainside)

    Tanker (This was relatively easy)0
    Primary Electric Aura
    Seconadry Electric Melee

    As far as Blaster and Dominator Secondaries go, The devs are likely to need to make new sets all together (I just don't see them giving Blasters Trick Arrow) If Dominators are getting Earth Control, I could easily see them making a Seismic Assault set though.

    Either way I can't wait to see what the Devs end up doing!

    How are Rikti magical in any way? Just curious what would be the basis for this suggestion?

    They are a tech based enemy, therefore they should drop tech based salvage/recipes.

    In fact the Rikti's lack of magic was their weekness in the Rikti War. Their world didn't have a Mu bloodline, and so all of their equipment was susceptible to magic, hence the reason magic heroes were sent to seal off the Rikti world and why the Rikti trapped in Primal Earth have tried to get magic into their ranks.

    That said, if the Rikti are now able to break through to Primal Earth again, then they must have found a way to over come the magic barrier that sealed off their world. There should be magic among them somehow, perhaps with special magic troops.

    I think the Lost might have something to do with all of this somewhere....

    If you remember correctly (and I hope I get this right), The Lost are Humans that are undergoing genetic resequencing at the hands of the Rikti.

    Ask yourselves this: How many of those among the Lost have Mu Blood within them? There is no way to know as it is. If the Rikti have (enough) Mu Blood now, They might now be capable of using magick, meaning the methods the Omega Team used to shut the Rikti world off won't work this time....

    Yeah. We're screwed.
  19. I voted for Ball and Chain, Psionic Weapon, Growth, and Density Control, but I think they should add Water Melee and Water Armor to this too. I was toying around with the idea the other day, and I figured this was the perfect place to express this.
  20. I had an idea for something like this for a fanfic. Thing is, I don't know what forms the Praetorian Versions of the Big Five of Arachnos would take. It is an idea that I have been workiong on though.

    Here's how I see them:
    Lord Recluse = Black Monarch
    Ghost Widow = Spirit Swallowtail
    Captain Mako = Adrmial Manta
    Black Scorpion = White Whiptail
    Scirocco = Zephyrus

    If there are Established Praetorian versions of these characters, at least tell me their names. I'm interested in seeing how this unfolds.

    Also, If i have inadvertently used a character name in use by someone else, I apologize.
