I wouldn't want a speed debuff, and I doubt a lot of other people would be for that either. Especially considering the parts where you have to run back to Penny to get shielded if need be.

I'm not so sure about te arc as a whole myself, but I did really enjoy a lot of aspects of the missions, and that last one was pretty cool. The floating ships were awesome. I just though they looked cool, and figured them for some interesting decoration, but the fact I got to run up them made it so much more awesome. I also liked the Press Conference mish.

I still think the story could have used a lot of work, but for the first ever SSA I guess it's not bad they have room for improvement.

    Who Will Die?

Well it's done. Now that we can look at it as a whole, what did everyone think on Who Will Die?
  4. I did like the subversive quality the press conference had. I got to play it up like I was doing good, but then Manti shows up to call me on my BS. I liked that little villainous twist.
  5. I like Tough. I get it on a number of my toons, some to add to the resistances they already have, and for others because it's the only resistances I can get them, but what I don't like is Boxing and Kicking. I don't believe I've used this power for any toon. I just consider it the hurdle I have to jump to get Tough. After the onset of the travel powers adjustment, I would love it for Fighting to get a similar make over. Let us get Tough from the get go, and add in a new power after Weave. I would suggest some variant of the power Practiced Brawler. A nice click power for the squishies that could use some better defenses from the many enemy groups that can hold, stun, sleep, knock back, and so on. Now I would bet there are some people that use Boxing or Kick, but how many others just have it there, a wasted power taken just to get the power you want or need?
  6. I do not have high hopes for this, but I'm going to play it and see how they intend to wrap this up. I hope the Devs take this as a learning experience for the next ones. I can understand that they were aiming for, they wanted a big lore changing story line. The problem is that the players are the true lore of CoH but we all got side lined at some point or all points in this arc to let the 'real' heroes and villains butt heads.

I have a little preoccupations about the info that was floating around from the leaked SSA: 2 because it had the hints that it was going to be focusing on Penny and we'd be playing bench warmers again.

    Free Praetoria!

I would hope that the devs would work more on getting more population Villain side vs worrying about Praetoria. Besides, how relevant will Praetoria even be once we've finally finished with Tyrant and we're dealing with Battalion?
  8. 43) Snowboard or toboggan at the next Winter Event.

    44) Spring load it into Hero One's capsule and scare the crap out of some lowbies getting their capes.

    45) Rent it out to Villains during the Spring Fling for when they can't find a hero to destroy the cauldron.

    46) Padder for TF's when you just need one more person to start.

    47) Newest Vanity Pet on the Market! When active you'll deny all rez prompts.

    48) Chew toy for the Umbral Beast to shut it up.
  9. 21) Newest option in the Shield Defense and Titan weapon customization.

    22) Knocking some sense into Ms. Liberty for using the Resurrection ritual, she happened to have, on Red Widow.

    23) Feed it to Mot so that he gains the power to walk right into painfully obvious traps.
  10. Beat up Malaise in the second SSA since he's just standing there on the balcony of that jewelry shop on the last mish, and I know who he is from the vision when the obelisk exploded. Hero or Villain side I would do this.
  11. The biggest problem Paragon has though is the heroes. Local street thugs are turning to the Occult because if they didn't they wouldn't stand a chance against the supers. Aliens assault the place because it's one of the first places they need to neutralize due to the high concentration of supers. Dark gods drive people into spirals of despair so that it can eat them and gain the power to consume the world. In all media, Superheroes only make things worse and attract more trouble to places.

I think the reason people don't leave Paragon is because they probably think the Supers should leave since they're the problem. In the comics people were happiest in Paragon when Recluse depowered all the supers. It's kind of that ugly little detail behind any super hero media, the city will keep a hero around because you can't unopen that can of worms. Now you have to have someone to stop the constant world endangering menaces that show up, whether you like it or not. It's job security for heroes, that's a win right?

Now as I see it, I always kind of figured that Villains never got any solo attention because then the blueside players would complain that redside got something and they didn't. Redside doesn't deserve new content solely for it because the population is low, but how can we help the population if all the new content is just co-op stuff? It's a cruel cycle. Redside needs to have some content tossed its way, more strike forces, more maps, maybe if the gap between the sides is filled in a little it would help the population redside. How much time and resources went to Praetoria? Can Villains get a little of that attention as well? And by all means send some heroes way too, like I said, give villains some new maps, and revamp heroes maps at the same time.
  13. I'd have nothing against some hero map revamping, but I would want a few new islands to pop for Villains too. It's not a bad idea to keep things 'even' I suppose. Villains gets a few more maps, and more strike forces, so they can stop using Ice Mistral so much for WST, and Heroes gets some hazards zones returned to city zones with some new content as well.

I would guess the next SSA will probably be hero oriented since Who Will Die is clearly the Villain arc, not a wholly satisfying arc, but it's been pretty clear it favors Villains. So maybe they'll have some world changing hero updates in mind for that?

That's it! It explains everything! This is all Positron's evil plan! He's keeping the main healer of the group, let's say, occupied. I bet he even told Manticore that it was a good idea to just handle things by himself. Probably told Statesman that he would totally let Numina know where to go to counter Wade's spell, or convinced States that he needed to bring Wade to justice instead of just rushing in and snapping his neck like a twig. It all makes sense now. We'll slowly get clues to this through the next SSA's.

  16. Because we can't. That's it, and that's probably all it's ever going to be. The writers wanted this to happen, and didn't put as much thought into execution as they should have. I really wonder who in the world thought it was a good idea to have a resurrection ritual in a mission that pops up right after these big deaths, well before Psyche's. Maybe we will be able to bring Psyche back later, but they replaced her with Penny so fast it made my head spin, so I have my doubts that there is any plan to bring her back anytime soon.

Heroes got the shaft in this arc, and I don't see anything really way for them to bring it around for heroes in any meaningful way, outside of just retconning the whole thing, which I doubt is an option since this is going to be the first arc that affects the game world and takes NPC's off the map.

Heroes may have to take the advice that Villains got in similar issues with story, get over it and move on. It sucks, but I don't think there's much that can be done at this point.

I doubt that the ending is going to be satisfying for anyone honestly. They've just tipped the scale too far for Heroes at this point. I would say Villains have a better chance at getting some sort of satisfaction from this, but the last contact being co-op make me think that the story won't be any different for heroes and villains at that point, so if heroes get some bum resolution, than so do villains.

Villains definitely came out better in this story, but even they got marginalized. As soon as Wade was revealed I felt myself creeping into the background and lackey territory. It'll still be easier for villains to come out better in this since we didn't lose nearly as much as heroes.

It's not like he was able to predict what we'd do from any number of possible answers. If we wanted to heal Psyche, we had to perform the ritual.
We did have to perform the ritual, but plenty of people have given examples of how this could have been done better. Magic-inclined heroes helping, Get some psychic characters in there to contain Psyche's rampant powers, knocking her out instead of killing her, and knowing that Manticore would kill his wife, that's a big hail mary pass right there. What if Manticore would have sacrificed everyone in Paragon and himself just to save Psyche? Wade's plan throughout all of this could have gone wrong at so many places that it didn't, and most of the reason for that is the Freedom Phalanx is acting like dummies. All of them going in alone, walking into obvious traps, no back-up plans or back-up in general. I think Wade found a spell that he's been weaving for the last 10 years to make the Phalanx not notice when a plan of action is a bad idea.

Also, if Psyche isn't returned to life by the end of this arc, this makes Penelope Yin's antics at the beginning of the next SSA make her a total d-bag, IMO.
New missions! Killing Psyche didn't stop the psychic explosion, so she dispersed her mind across all the minds she was connected with to spread out the power, her body was mediported and repaired but now she is in a deep coma and we have to search for the aspects of Psyche in the many minds she touched and put her mind back together.

I don't know... I mean you got bored with your Fusionette and then I got stuck taking care of her. I don't want to have to deal with another hyperactive rookie hero if you lose interest.

People have been guessing that a de-riktified Hero 1 will be taking States' place in handing out the Statesman TF.

    Who Will Die?

So, I guess Devs hate heros now? Man, I've been playing these as a villain, and I liked the beginnings, but even I have to say that the heros are getting screwed in this. And what damn powers was Yin packing? She actually held me, I have 9.3 hold protection, never had that happen.
  25. I felt a little bad going to fight Penny, and then the fight started and I didn't feel so bad. She was holding me right handily, and I have 9.3 hold protection. Killed that pet of hers and then really started putting a hurting on her. Her powers were awesome though, maybe Psionic will become an Epic archetype in the future, I would love some more Epics. Wade's over- preparedness is really straining my suspension of disbelief though. I never really liked the villain knows every little thing you'll do and you're only furthering his plan no matter what you do.
